09/02/2011: Jpark from Spanish Fork, Utah: "A wonderful herb to dissolve stones is hydrangea, it comes in capsules. It will break up the stones into smaller more easily passed pieces. It is very helpful for relieving the pain during a kidney stone attack. Take 6 capsules 3-4 times per day, even up to 10 at a time if you are in extreme pain, or try take 2-3 each hour. Continue taking them for a couple weeks, then try the olive oil/lemon juice to flush them out. You don't want to flush them out too early and cause more pain, try to dissolve them first. At about $10 a bottle it is an inexpensive, but very effective solution for your kidney stones. I have used this on several occassions for stones, the first time I was in so much pain I could hardly move, but within 30 minutes of my first dose of hydrangea the pain started to subside to a manageable level. Google Hydrangea and kidney stones, you will find a lot of info."
[YEA] 02/19/2012: Rick from North Port, Fl, US: "I am happy to read of anyone finding relief from kidney stones. I also know of a remedy that learned from a very old book I have. This has worked for for four people that I have shared it with. Get some Queen of the Medow (also called Jo Pye Weed ) root. This plant grows wild in many areas of the country. IT can be purchased at some health food stores and can be found on Ebay. It is very, very cheap. Take some of this root and make a tea. Only one cup and they will pass. One friend of mine had suffered for two years with these and even in and out of the hospital. One day while he was at my house he asked me to look in this old book to see if anything was in it about kidney stones and this is where I saw this cure. It is a old indain remedy. The next day my friend called me and told me he made a cup of this tea and about 45 min after drinking it he passed them. This has been over eight years ago and he has had no problems since. "Replies
02/22/2012: Dew J from Dover, De replies: "Chanca Piedra has worked for many suffering from kidney and gallstones. It helped me as well. I take a daily maintenance dose. I've read many people's stories that have also been helped by this rainforest herb. Best wishes."
Kidney Cleanse Needed First
[YEA] 01/27/2008: ROBERT HENRY from ten mile, tn: "it would be unusual for you to expell stones with just a simple oil flush. First you must soften with any numerous kidney cleanses. i.e. a week of apple juice. then you must cleanse with epson salts and then do the lemon or grapefruit and olive oil routine. It may take several tries but it works. when my wife and i did it last year we only got gravel because the cleanse had broken up the stones. We are in our 70's and this was our first attempt at removing stones. We plan to do this on a yearly basis with all our detox programs."Replies
05/12/2008: Darla from Salisbury, NC replies: "Epsom salts?..you can ingest that?..it's not poisonous?..could you give me a recipe please?"
09/28/2010: Dee from Hill Country, Tx replies: "My Epsom salts package comes with directions for use as (1) a soak for minor sprains and bruises, (2) a laxative taken internally, and (3) a fertilizer as it has 13% sulfer and 10% magnesium from magnesium sulfate."
Kidney Stone Causes
06/24/2009: Sangeetha from Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands: "1. Does anyone know what type of stone multivitamins create? I had never had a kidney stone till 42. The only thing I had done differet in a few months preceding was to take multivitamins, so am assuming that is the cause.
2. Did anyone have a kidney stone stuck in the kidney. Were you able to get rid of it through natural/home remedies. If so, can you please share it with me.
06/25/2009: Vanya from Frankfort, IN replies: "Years ago my mom had a kidney stone and she got rid of it drinking tea brewed from hazelnut leaves, put a few leaves in 1 liter boiling water, turn off the stove and cover the pot for 5-10 minutes, strain and drink that all day long, keep refregerated, you will get rid of your stone in a week. You can do the same procedure with flax seeds, but before put them in the water bake them in the oven just for a minute to crack the seeds open, this one will purify your kidneys... Good Luck!"
06/26/2009: Sangeetha from Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands replies: "Yesterday I went for an ultrasound to check the status of what I was told earlier was a kidney stone 4.5/4.8 mm. It has been 19 months and it still sits in the same place. Today my doctor called and told me I don't have a kidney stone, instead she thinks it is an angiolipoma. She has given my past and present ultrasound results to a radiologist to compare and check. She might be right, given that its sitting in my right kidney for so long and lemon juice/olive oil and ACV have not expelled it yet. It does seem to have shrunk a bit as my doctor said it was 4 mm in yesterday's result.
Does anyone know an effective home remedy for this?
EC: "Angiolipoma: A benign tumor composed chiefly of fat cells and containing an unusually large number of vascular channels."
Olive Oil and Lemon Juice for Kidney Stones
Home Remedy Ingredients:
- Olive Oil - 2 Oz
- Fresh Lemon Juice - 2 Oz
- Large Glass of Water (or 2)
This is an extremely popular remedy for kidney stones! Mix together two ounces each of freshly squeezed lemon juice and olive oil. Drink this (not nearly as bad as you think) and follow it up with plenty of water. You can repeat this 2-3 times a day until the stones pass, which often happens within 1-3 days.
[YEA] 07/27/2012: Brown Bomber from San Antonio, Texas: "Thank you, thank you, thank you... Everyone of you... For the information you so gladly post on this site!!! I am new to the entire field of "kidney stones" and must say I do not like them one bit! A few days ago, I noticed slight pain around my lower back on the left side. It wasn't too bad but noticeble to be irritating. I didn't give much thought to it and after approx. 15 min. or so, it went away. I noticed it again a few hours later but the mild pain went away again.
At about 4:30am, I woke to use the bathroom and noticed the pain had come back but increased a little. After stretching, rubbing, and massaging, it seemed to still linger over the next 1/2 hr or so but slightly built up as the minutes ticked by. By 6am I was rocking on all fours on the floor, then to the bed, then back to the floor just trying to ease the pain a little. I could no longer take it and decided to have my wife take me to the ER. There, I was diagnosed with having "the stones". I recall having the desire to punch my physician in the throat for "thumping" my kidney with a fist in order to determine my response and confirm the symtoms of having kidney stones. From the squirming I was doing and the combination of noises I was making and the expressions on my face, I felt the thumping was not necessary. I always had this suspicion that doctors do things intentionally to laugh and joke about later... Anyway, I was more than upset to say the least.
My nurse had given me 3 doses of Morphine to decrease the torture I was going thru but to no avail. I was twisting back and forth in agony and could only moan in my pillow for some semblance of relief. I was finally given an IV Drip of Dolobid (10 times stronger than Vicoden I'm told) and a button to push every 10 min. in order to release and self administer another dose. I was woozy and light headed but delusionally happy and could now endure the excrutiating pain which seemed to slowly drift away until I felt almost nothing.
I have a high tolerance for pain and have had some terrible experiences with "what I thought" was painful but this pain not just took the cake... It blew the cake into pieces...! I was admitted and remained for 2 1/2 days until I could deal with a tolerable degree of pain while on pain meds at home while waiting for these nasty buggers to pass. I talked to one of the male nurses in order to mentally prepare myself for what to expect and I was glad to learn that he had dealt with stones before. Taking the opportunity to learn from an "experienced stone sufferer", I thought to ask questions about what to expect. I was told that there was no pain quite like it. He told me about one patient who didn't know they had stones until they went to pee in an alley behind a bar one day, and while passing a stone, he felt like digging his hands into the bricks and picking the building up and slamming into the ground until it was out..... That's when I decided to go online to seek out help on how to pass them "smoothly" and avoid ripping my toilet from the floor in the process. I had been diagnosed as having 3 stones in my left kidney with one of them recently breaking off and preparing to make its way out.
I now thank God for you guys... I first learned about drinking a glass of fresh lemon juice, followed by a glass of water and 1oz of lemon juice each hr for the next 12 hrs. I did this and a small stone the size of a pin head came out a few hours later.. And with no pain. I was amazed at how this tiny little thing could cause so much irritation and agony just a few hours earlier. I then experienced a stone getting lodged about 2 inches inside my penis a few days later. It felt like I was "peeing" a glass shard.
I went back online and found the lemon and olive oil combination. Almost immediately after drinking it, the pain subsided and became bearable. It doesn't hurt to pee but it does hurt like a monkey when brushed up against anything. I am wondering if the olive oil will make this stone, which seems to have a jagged edge, smoother to expel even though it is caught in the shaft. I am anxious to write back to notify you all of the outcome. Until then, do take care and happy expelling..."Replies
07/27/2012: Bill from San Fernando, Philippines replies: "Hi Brown Bomber... If the lemon and olive oil isn't working for you, try taking Chanca piedra -- either as a tea drunk at least three times a day or as 1000 mgs capsules taken at mealtimes. CP works to gently but rapidly dissolve both gallstones and kidney stones. It dissolves the calcium in kidney stones for easier excretion.
Chanca piedra is well known in South America. Chanca piedra(Spanish) and Quebra pedra(Portugese) both translate to mean "Breaking Stone"."
08/12/2012: Lisalsb from Baltimore, Md replies: "I was diagnosed with a 5mm kidney stone. I am a female, 40. I have 3 children and I can tell you, the pain felt like labor contractions. I have a fairly high pain tolerance, but wow, really quite painful.
I am due back to the doctor's for another exam and maybe stenting. Like many of you, I would rather save money and try the lemon/olive oil method.
I actually tried it this morning and will do it again tonight. One site said it would clear in 24 hours. I have read mixed reviews on time frame. I will let you know if I pass it.
Good luck to the rest of you."
08/12/2012: Debra from Lodi, Ca replies: "Hi there, I too had kidney stones and believe me the lemon and olive oil worked! I could feel the stone burst about 10 minutes after taking the mixture. I expected to see or feel something when I urinated, but nothing..... Don't give up take it more often it needed. Good Luck! Debbie"
08/13/2012: Debra from Conroe, Tx replies: "I DID IT!! What a relief I feel. I did 1t of Epsom salt with 1/2 cup of water, two hours later 2 t Epsom salt with 1/2 cup of water, two hours later 3/4 cup of olive oil with 1/2 cup of lemon juice laid on right side for 30 minutes, they went to sleep. Next day still fasted, (actually started my fast at noon the previous day) but drank not to dehydrate. At around noon I released about 50 floaters, they disolved, they I keep my sample for my peace of mind to look and they were about 200 hard stones!! The press on my right side is gone and I feel so much better. Going to do it again this Friday just to make sure I am clean till next year. My CT scan show layers of stones and they advised to remove the gallbladder. I also drink the apple cider vinegar so I am praying that disolves the cyst on my ovary! Praise GOD for people that want to help us save our organs that God gave to us!! Hope this helps you."
10/03/2012: James from Ajax, Ontario, Canada replies: "Debra from Conroe is referring to a Gallbladder Liver Flush in the last reply to brown bomber. That is not the procedure for a Kidney stone removal. But a great procedure for the liver flush that everyone should do to get your gall Bladder and liver work at 100 percent and to avoid the unnecessary removal of the Gall Bladder that the doctors say is required for those situations. They also claim the Gall Bladder is unnecessary which I don't believe because alot of people that have them removed still get Liver Stones."
[YEA] 05/01/2012: Peter from Cape Town, South Africa: "Drank 50mil of olive oil and 50 mil of lemon juice mixed twice (night and morning). (Tried ACV but found it too gross. ) Then two more 50 mil of just lemon juice (again night and morning). Woke up this morning and really feel that the stone had been zapped by the acid of the lemon juice - experienced no "flicks" of pain or pain itself the whole day. Perhaps too early to say but am feeling very, very positive."Replies
05/08/2012: Prashant from Delhi, India replies: "I used this method for about 2 weeks.... I don't know wether it helped or not but I passed out 8MM stone..... I used to drink lots of water and took homeopatic medicine Berburis Vulgaris...... It took almost 45 days for the stone to pass out."
[YEA] 06/06/2012: Gordon from Dothan, Al. replies: "Two weeks ago I went to the emergency room because I couldn't go to the bathroom (not a drop). Found out I had a 6mm stone. I had a 5mm stone about two years ago and had to have lithotrypsy. This time almost no pain associated with the stone. I couldn't afford a doctors visit let alone any kind of procedure in the hospital so I started looking for home remedies. I found the olive oil and lemon juice recipe and figured why not? Tried 2oz. of each along with 1tbsp. of Apple Cider Vinegar for good measure two or three times a day. This recipe along with the Flomax prescription I received at the E. R. Took a little over a week but, MAN! , it did the trick! A couple of nights ago all of the sudden I had this sharp, screaming pain while going to the bathroom and felt something pass through and heard a small splash. The pain lasted about two seconds with the pain diminishing over the next two or three minutes with a little discomfort for a day or so and everything has been great since. I whole heartedly recommend this remedy!!"
07/03/2012: Amanda from Moulton, Al replies: "I have had back pain and abdominal pain for the past 2-3 months but I thought it was just from a pulled muscle boxing up and moving.... Went to the emergency room and they told me I had a UTI(urinary tract infection) so they gave me meds and took them for two weeks.... The pain just got worse so I went back to the ER oly for them to do a ct scan and there it was a 14. 8 mm stone and a 3 mm stone... I was like holy crap... Ive had stones before but never one that big.... The dr was amazed at how I was still able to walk around and work and care for my son.... I have done a lot of research and today I am trying this lemon juice and olive oil remedy just to see if it will possibly break down this big stone so that I can pass it some how... Where the kidney stone is according to the dr he says that he will not blast the stone until it starts to move or I am in pain... Well I dont want to wait for that to happen because I do not want permanent kidney damage or failure bc of this stone... So I am going to try this and see if it works."
07/08/2012: Ankit from Delhi replies: "I have never experienced any pain from kidney stone. I am in Merchant Navy and I went through medical test prior boarding the ship. Unfortunately, a small stone of 3mm was detected and I could not board. It's been 2 months I have been trying different remedies inckuding homeopathy and ayurvedic medicines and nothing worked for me. I tried Olive oil and Lemon juice remedy for 3 days but nothing has come up. I got the x-ray done and stone is still there. It's in right kidney lower pole calyx, which I heard is very difficult to pass. Could you please advise the quantity and number of times I should take OO and Lemon juice mixture? I have get rid off this stone asap. Please suggest!"
07/09/2012: Steve from Las Vegas, Nevada replies: "I would keep going with the OO lemon juice and also add in a Tbsp of epsom salt in warm water. Espom relaxes all the ducts and helps release and dissolve the stones. For gall bladder stone pain this works within 30min for me. Make sure you are near a bathroom because the epsom will definitely make you go. Also consider supplementing on a regular basis with magnesium powder, tastes good, not as harsh as epsom, very bio-available and should keep you from getting stones in the future. Apple cider taken for 3 days with nothing else is also said to get rid of kidney stones as well. Some good tips here as well:
[NAY] 07/13/2012: Ankit from Delhi replies: "I have been trying ACV and OO lemon remedy for more than a week and it din't work for me. I have tried almost all types of doses which have been mentioned by various people in previous posts. I am thinking of give up on both of these and I am really sad that what should I do now. My stone is in lower pole calyx of right kidney ( size-3mm ). I think it's difficult to pass the stone from lower calyx and also maybe it's difficult to dissolve it. Any suggestion would be really appreciated. Thanks!!"
04/23/2012: Ramon from Dallas Tx, Texas U.s.a: "My wife had pain for several days, we checked the symptoms and found out it was kidney stones, we ran into olive oil @ lemon remedy 2oz of each, praying that she will be fine tomorrow thank and God Bless"
[YEA] 04/02/2012: Loren from Denver, Colorado: "Today, in desperation for relief from the pain of a kidney stone, I found this site, and was quickly convinced that it would be worth the try to use the combination of fresh squeezed lemon juice and Extra Virgin Olive Oil to relieve my pain. I had to go to the store which was a challenge in itself, but, bought the ingredients, came home, mixed it up at 1:30, and by 4:30 the pain I've had for 6 days went away. TRY IT! YOU'VE GOT NOTHING TO LOSE, and it will save a trip to the emergency room."Replies
[YEA] 04/03/2012: Lucy from Orlando, Fl replies: "Hello. I tried this same remedy: One shot of lemon juice followed by one shot of olive oil first thing in the morning and before I went to bed. I did this remedy before I had a scheduled ct-scan to determine where the kidney stones were to schedule the laser surgery to remove them. ( I had a ultrasound before that confirm that I had kidney stones). When I went back to the urologist for the results of the ct-scan he said that my kidneys were clear. He asked, "what did you do"? I told him the remedy and he said.. Ahhh yeah.. The lemon juice dilutes the stones and it is easier to pass them. Of course he was not going to tell me this when I went the first time. He took x-rays, then sent me for ultrasound and then the CT Scan. Thank you.. Thank you.. Thank you EC and everyone who shares their post. I saved $1800 which is the deductible from my insurance for surgery."
05/02/2012: Millie from Bulacan, Philippines replies: "Hello, I want to try this olive oil and lemon juice... do I need to take plenty of water after taking lemon juice and olive oil?
Thank you so much..millie"
[YEA] 03/25/2012: Mer from Rocky Point, Ny, Us: "I have had calcium renal calculi diagnosed in both kidneys. One kidney was almost completely occluded with stone, and the other very full as well. I had lithotripsy followed by numerous surgeries. After the first 3 surgeries, my surgeon gave up referring me to another dr saying he 'couldn't get the angle' I then finally got all the rest of them out at LI Jewish Hospital. All of this happened concurrent to my breast cancer surgery and treatment. I was experiencing a return of flank pain and I saw this purge online and tried it. Following a 2x2 dose of lemon juice and olive oil, I passed 18 stones painlessly. I was surprised to see all the stones in one go come out of me ranging in diameter similiar to that of grains of sand which earlier caused me great pain, sweats and racking nausea. I now use this whenever I get signs of pain."Replies
08/21/2012: John Of Walland from Walland, Tn replies: "I just passed my fourth stone yesterday; what I do is take three Aleve to deal with the pain and drink lots of water, do the pacing and nausea but it passed. I had to take an Aleve every two hours this time!!! I will try this remedy. My brother-in-law drinks lime water every day and has not passed a stone in ten years. I'm drinking it as I type. As a chemist I can see how the acidic acid (sp?)in lemon or lime juice would help to dissolve the stones. I usually eat a lot of fruit and haven't done that lately; so that may be why I developed the stone?"
03/19/2012: Brenda from Floresville, Texas: "My husband went for a cat scan and has 3 kidney stones the largest is 5mm. He does not have insurance but the dr gave him a week to pass it (like he does not have the pain) he is due for surgery next monday. It is 8:59pm we r crossing our fingers and hoping the lemon juice and olive oil remedy works will keep you posted."
[YEA] 03/12/2012: Mark from Midland, Ontario Canada: "Been suffering for 5 weeks with a kidney stone. Between Doctor appointments, ultrasound, waiting for results, not been able to pee properly. I found this website. No word of a lie. I mixed up the lemon juice/olive oil at 9:00 pm march 11/12. Repeated again at 7:30 am march 12/12. By 3:00 pm that day I passed a 9mm stone (PAIN FREE) I can't belive it. I passed a stone 10 years ago 3mm and went thru hell in the process. All kidding aside this shit works."Replies
03/13/2012: Dragan from Tornto, On replies: "I am glad it worked for you but I have difficulty to believe that 9mm stone (diameter???) went painless through your penis (I assume you are male 'Mark'). It is size of a small marble and unless your plumbing is so loose, there is NO WAY it was painless."
03/27/2012: Chinad from Brooklyn, New York replies: "glad to say he is 10000% right... Not sure must be the olive oil.. :)... But who cares.. It works..!!!!!! .. I took my first test around 10AM within 20 min I was pain free an has been all day with no perks/codien today.... I'm pretty sure I'm passing the stones now an its 11pm.. Thank you whoever shared this.. Bless your pretty little heart!!!!"
06/28/2012: Symmetricallyecclectic from Saint Peters, Missouri, United States replies: "From what I understand the lemon juice, and even more so the apple cider vinegar begins dissolving and softening the kidney stone. There can really be no other explanation, for if faced with passing a marble through my entire urethal system including the penis, I would be begging the doctors to cut it out. A marble travelling through my little buddy? Not in this lifetime."
[YEA] 03/01/2012: Anil from Mumbai, India: "Hi , I was diagnosed with a kidney stone abt 5mm with lots of pain and prescribed a one month course of tablet to flush it out. 3 days into the medication I was not satisfied and came on this wonderful site on the net. 03/09/2012: Bobby from Houston, Tx replies: "OK, I have a 7 MM stone. I went and got some shock wave treatment and now I'm home. I just drank 2oz of Virgin Olive Oil and 2oz of lemon juice fresh squeezed and mixed together. Taste is not bad. Will let you guys know tomorrow. If anyone else has passed a stone this size or greater please reply and let me know. If this does not work I will have to See Dr. Monday for procedure."
03/10/2013: Ct from Portland, Or replies: "I think that simple olive oil would work as well as extra virgin. The extra virgin is merely a different pressing; otherwise, they are the same."
[YEA] 02/02/2012: Anon from Piscataway, Nj: "I got admitted into the ER this AM and the CT scan showed a 3 MM kidney stone. I started having an attack again so dreading going through the surgery or blasting I began searching alternative treatments and found this site about olive oil and lemon juice. So I said let me try- it's cheap, what do I have to lose and both ingredients are healthy. So I began the cocktail. Well to my surprise PAIN IS GONE, STONES ARE GONE And I'm not in medical debt.
To those of you skeptical and suffering from these beasts in your kidneys please, please try the olive oil remedy you won't be disappointed."Replies
02/01/2012: Genell from Summertown, Tennessee replies: "How long did it take to relieve the pain?"
[YEA] 02/11/2012: David from Houston, Tx replies: "For the past several days I have had severe pain from a 4mm kidney stone in my left kidney. I had a CT Scan that confirmed the stone had moved into the tube between kidney and bladder. My urologist prescribed Vicodin and said it should pass in 2 to 3 weeks. There was absolutely no way that I was going to wait that long so I started researching on line and found this site. After reading the entries, I drove myself the grocery store and bought the Extra Virgin Olive Oil and a bottle of concentrated Lemon Juice and I drank both last night before I went to bed. Around 2:00 AM this morning I had some serious pain as the stone started moving down to my bladder, but the pain passed in about 30 minutes or so. This morning I got up and drank the olive oil, but instead of mixing the lemon juice into it, I made myself a big glass of lemonade with it and stirred in some honey. Big difference in taste and was so good I had two glasses. Around 1:00 PM this afternoon I saw sand like particles in my urine and at 5:00 PM this evening I passed the stone!
I am a believer. I have had stones twice before, once nearly 30 years ago and again just last month. Both were very painful and long duration experiences. I'm sure the lemon juice did help to break up the stone and the olive oil helped ease it out.
It now also makes sense as to why I had the stones in the first place. I'm sure they built up over time as I am prone to them, but for the past six weeks I have been actively losing weight and every morning I have been eating Grapefruit and an orange or two during the day as part of my diet plan. Citric acid, just like from the lemon has been slowly eating away at the stones and they got small enough to move out of my kidneys. At least that is my theory!
In any event, I will not soon forget this recipe for getting rid of kidney stones. Thank you! :)"
