I've been taking 2 tablespoons of raw organic apple cider vinegar diluted in 8oz of water and sweetened with 1 tablespoon of raw organic honey at night before bed. I'll be honest, I was extremely skeptical when I started this one week ago along with exercise and healthy eating. I've lost 8lbs and 2 inches from my waist in only 1 week!! I am amazed at the results. I've NEVER lost weight this quickly using diet and exercise alone. I'm now a believer in ACV. My skin is glowing and my energy levels are thru the roof! No more bloating and I just have an overall sense of well-being. Try it! It works!!

Avoid Butter and Restaurants

I am 39 years old and recently realized that going to restaurants can set me back 10 days sometimes in my weight loss regime. I realized this after going to a home-style indian restaurant 2 weeks ago. Their food was delicious, but cooked in lots of butter and sugar. It literally took 10 days to cover. My body fat went up by 1% after the meal and only today, 10 days later, has my weight dropped .50 of a pound, even though I have been exercising every day and on a very healthy, low fat diet at home. So I think one has to be very vigilant about the butter when going to a restaurant and ask that the food be prepared in olive oil. 10 days to recover from 1 meal -- can you believe it??

i think your weight gain and fat % was mostly do to the salt content of the food. loosing the salt after it enters your body usually takes 10 days.

Butter in itself isn't bad, in fact it is much healthier and will have much less (if any) effect on your weight than the same amount of polyunsaturated oils or hydrogenated oils. The Indian restuarant was probably using clarified butter (ghee) which does not have milk solids in it. Not as bad, but coconut oil in Indian and other cooking is way better and should not be avoided.

As for restaurants, its all about choices. You dont have to "avoid restaurants" altogether. the main thing is to consider the portion size, sugar content, and beware of added flavorings like MSG.

Avoid Soy

For women: Excess estrogen can lead to excess weight. High estrogen levels can lead to weight gain and make it very difficult to lose weight. Estrogen is stored in fat cells. The more fat cells you have, the higher your estrogen levels will be, the higher your estrogen levels, the more fat your body will retain. It can be a frustrating cycle.

One way to naturally balance this hormone is to reduce your intake of phytoestrogens (a naturally occurring plant chemical that can mimic the female hormone estrogen when consumed).

One of the biggest culprits of phytoestrogens is SOY and related soy products, including soy lecithin (found in nearly every chocolate treat). Don't fret, there are soy free options for chocolate, though.

Strictly limiting your intake of soy can give your body the opportunity to release and eliminate the excess estrogen that builds up over time. Less estrogen = less fat retention.

While soy does contain essential Omega-3 fatty acids, there are many other options to get the same Omega-3s in your diet.

This was suggested by a trained nutritionist as part of the first step in any weight loss plan.

I got a huge pot of organic spun honey from the farmer's market last month. It was delicious, but after a couple of weeks, I noticed a huge buildup of dead cells on my tongue towards the back. It was pretty gross. I also felt my metabolism slowing down and I gained a couple of pounds even though I was eating very healthily. I bought regular honey at Whole Foods last weekend and after 3 days my tongue is back to normal and I am starting to lose those 2 pounds! Interesting, eh?!

Dear Earthclinic, I have tried many remedies over the years to remove the belly fat on my stomach and hips. I have been drinking one tablespoon of liquid bentonite clay which I purchased at the local health food store about six weeks ago. I have lost about 3" on my belly and 2" on my hips. The other reason I'm drinking this is that it detoxes metal from the body. The taste is mild and I take it only at night with a glass of water. To date, I have more energy, eat less as I feel full, and my body feels lighter. There are more benefits to ingesting clay but too numerous to mention. A 16oz. fluid bottle cost about $8.00 and has about two months worth of bentonite liquid clay.

Bentonite Clay removes all bacteria. So If your worried about negative effects, just make sure your taking good pro & prebiotics a few hours after you take it. I could see it causing havoc with prolonged use without aiding your body in gaining those back.

a fatty liver causes you to have a very slow meotabolism, by taking kelp will speed up your meotabolism and get the weight off. Cayenne pepper 4 pill equals a teaspoon which will detox your liver and also helps a lot to speed up your meotabolism a lot. I take 2000mg kelp and 4 cayenne pepper pills 4 times a day...I tried many diffrent remedies the kelp and cayenne pepper is the only thing that helped me get my metabolism moving again. Every one needs to judge for themselves on how to take.

Before you try any remedy for weight loss... You should check your Testosterone levels... If they are low its almost impossible to lose weight... And also if you have a fatty liver.. Its very hard to lose weight!! ..

Ps. Take two cinnamon capsules every time you have a meal to control your glucose!

Mikke,

I've been trying to loose weight with apple cider vinegar with no success. Though, your suggestions made me think. How to increase our testosterone levels or help with a fat liver? Thanks and regards

Do you have abnormal testosterone levels? If something is off - your whole endocrine will have issues. Check your Free T3 and Free T4 thyroid levels. The FT3 hormone is your main source of metobolism

Hi, just wondered if you could speak more about what to do for low testosterone levels, and low hormone levels in general? I have low EVERYTHING right now (after two children, breastfeeding, etc. ), and no trace of cortisol at all! I was put on a low level of cortisol, and am working on consistency with herbs to help my adrenals (which have been deficient for years and years... ), but any other advice or recommendations would be wonderful! My energy is so low, and I am chronically fatigued, struggle with candida, etc. Thanks!!

Chia Seeds

How do Chia Seeds keep you feeling full?

When the Chia Seed is exposed to water or other liquids it begins to hydrate. This means that the fibers on the outside of the seed (almost too small to see with the naked eye) begin to trap moisture and form it into a gel. Each seed forms its own big bead of gel, that is not easily removed. When you eat this seed/gel combination, your body treats it like a big piece of food... not the 0 calorie water that it really is! The seeds themselves are tiny and healthy, but it's their ability to absorb 9 TIMES their own weight in water that keeps you feeling full. This means you can use even 1 tsp of seeds to get rid of hunger whenever you want.

This also makes it a great value for you when 1 dry tablespoon of chia makes 9 tablespoons of hunger-fighting chia gel. It's as easy as scoop, pour and wait 10 minutes for the gel to form on its own. Water isn't the only answer, either. You can use your favorite juice drinks too, and chia will never cover up or dilute the flavor you love.

I found Xiang's message about Chia seeds quite interesting, however whilst it sounded good, I cringed at their message for the following reason:

WARNING!! Xiang explained that Chia seeds expand 9 times their own weight in water and that is why they keep you full. and 1 tablespoon of Chia seeds makes 9 tablespoons of hunger fighting gel. PLEASE READ: I READ A STORY ABOUT A YEAR AGO WHEREBY A GUY KEPT POPPING CHIA SEEDS IN HIS MOUTH. THEY EXPANDED AND WAS RUSHED TO HOSPITAL, BUT HE DIED BECAUSE THE CHIA SEEDS SWELLED UP IN HIS WINDPIPE AND CHOKED HIM TO DEATH! Please be very careful because everytime I hear the mention of Chia Seeds I cringe! I won't even attempt to use them. You need to drink a lot of water with Chia Seeds, and there are a few other seeds that can swell up like this, not sure but I think Pumpkin seeds might be one as well. Just take a small amount of Chia seeds with plenty of water, due to reading about the guy dying because they all swelled up in his windpipe, I only buy any seeds in POWDER FORM! So whilst Chia seeds might be very good, be careful! I don't understand why some of these products don't explain any type of danger like this! It should be on the packets by law! Rosina from UK

I am here to give a resounding NAY for cinnamon for weight loss. I had already lost 15 pounds by tracking my caloric intake with a free app on my phone. I thought adding cinnamon might help shed the last few pounds. Well *pay attention* if you decide to take cinnamon. I added only a tiny pinch to my morning coffee each day. It was delicious! But after 6 weeks of this I was so constipated that my abdomen was having sharp cramps through the day. That is when I learned that cinnamon is also used as an anti-diarrhea supplement. Results may vary, of course. My husband can take turmeric every day and still have regular bm's but my system is way more sensitive apparently because both cinnamon and turmeric stop me up.

Effects: According to a study published by "The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, " cinnamon has been linked to weight loss because the spice stimulates, or increases, the metabolism of glucose. Glucose, or blood sugar, is a main source of energy and affects how hungry or energetic you feel.

Benefits: A benefit of cinnamon is its ability to delay food from progressing through the digestive system. Food is delayed in the stomach and, as a result, leaves you feeling full for a longer period of time. This results in a reduction of hunger and causes you to eat less. In addition to satiation, the active compound in cinnamon is methyl hydroxy chalcone polymer (MHCP) and works to increase glucose metabolism, according to the USDA. Your blood sugar level determines whether you burn fat or store it. Increasing your glucose metabolism through the use of cinnamon tablets burns excess glucose, which is stored as fat in your body. In short, feeling less hungry and burning excess glucose more effectively equates to eating less and losing weight.

I decided to the cinnamon and honey tea to my daily routine a week ago and I am already seeing effects!

My process: I put 1 tsp organic ceylon cinnamon into 8 oz of boiling water and let it seep for 30 minutes. Then I add 2 tsp organic raw honey. I drink half of the tea before bed and the other half in the morning 30 minutes before breakfast.

Results/effects so far: I have already been on a weight loss journey and adding the tea gave me an extra edge. In one week my measurements shifted down. I have read that this tea will make you lose inches before lbs.

I will definitely continue to use this on a daily basis, I'm sure I will continue to see other benefits!
