ZINC AND MAGNESIUM SOLUTION
05/16/2008: Glenda writes: "Question for Ted. This site is amazing. Thank you. My question is how do you get a 5% solution of zinc and magnesium? Are you using liquid zinc and magnesium and diluting it? Or can you disolve zinc and magnesium in H2O. I'm dying to try this for herpes, but don't know how to get from tablet to solution in the right amounts. thanks. "

REMEDIES FOR A THREE YEAR OLD
05/07/2008: Christa writes: "My question is for Ted, my daughter got the oral herpes virus from me. I had never had an outbreak before until now. I have had it for almost two weeks. Whenever the sores seem to start to heal, they reinfect because both sores are on the corners of my mouth. I don't know if you know of anything to combat that. But more importantly, I am concerned about my daughter. She is only three years old. So I don't know if you know of any remedies that are safe for her to take. And lastly, you had mentioned how H202 was effective against the herpes virus, I was just wondering if you were talking about the food grade kind and what percentage of that would you suggest using? Thank you for all of your imput, your advice has been so effective and helpful."
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Christa:
I would prefer to use a food grade H2O2 1% 1.5% applied to the mouth area every hour. It should not exceed 1.5% as it causes drying and burning if it is used beyond 1.5%. So in a 3% solution I would dilute it with water. So in a 5 cc of 3% H2O2, I will add another 5 cc of water, to get a 1.5% H2O2 to apply to the problem area. If I cannot obtain the 3% H2O2 at all I might use the ones they sold in drug store. My experience has been that most drugs stores uses the ones they added the stabilizers, and when a small quantities is added to a glass of water, especially when viewed in the sunlight, it creates a yellow tinge. A good H2O2 should not have the yellow tinge, which is a stabilizers, which are generally not good for internal purposes, but might be used for external purposes such as topical application. H2O2 1.5% I can add a to a 10 cc solution for example, 5% baking soda. Alkalizing H2O2 with baking soda are generally more effective, but in my opinion, adding a 5% sodium carbonate (washing soda) is generally more effective). An iodine lugol's solution 5 drops added to 1/2 glass of water can be used as a mouthwash to reduce the ability of the virus to expand and limit it's growth.
In the long run, I prefer to use a more effective 2% - 5% zinc chloride solution plus 5% magnesium chloride solution and apply them topically every hour, should more than sufficiently kill the virus.
For a child I think L-lysine, baking soda, olive leaf extract, zinc gluconate, magnesium gluconate would help. While an adult would need an addition of potassium bicarbonate (or potassium citrate) and vitamin B complex needed to kill the herpes. The dose of a child will be calculated on basis of weight of a small frame 100 pound adult so if a child is 1/4 the weight then it is divided by 1/4 of the dose of everything.
Therefore an adult dose for l-lysine is 500 mg x 3, zinc gluconate is 50 mg, but taken only 5-6 days out of a week. The zinc gluconate should generally be taken for only 5-6 days and not continued on the second or the third week. However in event that the herpes is not yet gone and there is no reduction in appetite and skin drying, than I think it can be extended well into the second week. Still the zinc I think can be taken only 5 days out of a week being the maximum needed to stop the herpes. But if it stopped before that, I will discontinue the zinc after a day or two. Magnesium gluconate are easier to handle, and can be taken for adult dose at 500 mg a day and if given to a child will have a calming effect. But this also applies to baking soda too, but it is somewhat more effective if some potassium bicarbonate is added.
Alkalizing remedy will generally reduce the herpes, so what I would do is 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda plus 1/8 teaspoon of potassium bicarbonate or potassium citrate in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day, at the very least.
The olive leaf extract I would open a capsule and allow to dissolve in the mouth for several minutes plus some mixture with small amount of water applied to the mouth area. Those can be taken twice or three times a day.
The use of table salt is very acid forming and sea salt should be used instead in cooking, and fruit juice, yogurt, sour food, potatoes, aspartame, fluoridated products, and chlorinated water generally should be avoided they reduces the body's immune system, especially aspartame should be permanently avoided and fruit juices."

NON-RESPONSIVE GENITAL HERPES
01/19/2008: L writes: "
I am writing about severe, non-responsive, apparently untreatable genital herpes.
I have had herpes for tweny years. It was never a huge problem till two years ago when I came down with a painful outbreak with swollen genital glands, which have continued to this day. No anti-viral or natural remedy has had any effect. I have had continuous outbreaks while on anti-viral medications. I have also been in a state of constant outbreak for the past two months,so painful that I cannot stand it. At first I though BHT was working, but it didn't. I am on daily:
BHT 3,150 mg
Lysine 3000 mg
Zinc, 50 mg
Vit C w/bioflav 2000mg
Vit A 24,000 IU
Vit E 1600 IU
Selenium 200 mg
B50 2 per day
Vit B1 1000mg
Ted's Apple Cider Vinegar recipe
Applied topically:
ACV
Hydrogine Peroxide
Black tea
I am in terrible pain; please help me if you can. Many thanks"
03/08/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "To L from Berkley, Ca.' 1/19/08 Increase your l lysine to 2000 mgs (2 grams) 4 times a day and see if your herpes problem improves- if not, you probably have something else along with it & hopefully can find a good GU doctor to solve your problem"
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Certain supplements missing for genital herpes are olive leaf extract, mannose, tumeric, cranberry, raspberry and xylitol. Topical application is also not used, but in practice I used topical application a lot, if it is required to do so, more so in many cases than the use of supplements as my main focus.
The local topical applications I used is the 5%-10% magnesium chloride mixed with 2-5% xylitol, to the area. Or I may try to add some milk of magnesia to make it more alkaline to easier kill them, by adding a 5% solution of 5%-10% milk of magnesia solution to the topical application also. I may apply this every 30 minutes to the area for an entire day, thereafter I may apply just 3-5 times a day. It should be noted that some zinc should be added to be much more effective, but adding the zinc where it doesn't cause stinging is important. For me a 1% zinc acetate added to original solution is preferred, but if a zinc chloride, a much stronger stinging sensation is felt and I can't use a 1% concentration. Both zinc and magnesium applied topically, at least for me, were most effective for me.
Certain supplements I may take that helps is raspberry 1/2 to 1 cup/day (it has ellagic acid - antiviral), with plenty of water, olive leaf extract 3x times a day , 1 teaspoon 3 times a day tumeric, and some 1/2 cup cranberry juice (contains mannose and prevents viruses from attaching to healthy cells). The cranberry juice has mannose which prevents virus from attaching to healthy cells, but xylitol may work on that instances too such as 1/2 teaspoon of xylitol in 1/2 glass of water 4 times a day.
Calcium if it is added into any supplements may defeat its purpose as it seems to cause viral proliferation. Therefore I would read the labels. Whenever I do take lysine, it won't work. What did work for me was the lysine and arginine taken together along with zinc. I never heard of lysine working with herpes if taken alone, but it does work when arginine is taken together. Personally citrulline, also an amino acid, may work better than just the arginine as citrulline in my opinion is a stronger form of arginine in the body and hence exerts a more antiviral effects.
I generally don't try to do many remedies at once during the beginning stages, but will concentrate on the few and try them separately and see which ones work best together, as certain supplements may actually make the conditions worse. However, alkalization, zinc, tumeric, arginine & lysine, olive leaf extract do work consistently well for me. However, most of my "cures" come from the use of topical application. Of course people's skin sensitivity varies. I did use magnesium chloride 10% solution with a small amount of milk of magnesia applied topically every 30 minutes for at least 6 hours followed by next day 3-5 applications a day to be quite helpful. Adding some zinc to the solution is quite critical to the success, but it's difficult to calculate the exact concentration of zinc, depending on the kinds of zinc I used. Assuming I used zinc acetate a 1% would, do while a zinc chloride a 0.5% solution would do. The problem about this is that it causes stinging problem whenever zinc is added, and hence a lower concentration is needed until the stinging is gone.
Another remedy I have found to be fairly effective, but I personally do not like it as it causes nausea is what the internet calls "stabilized oxygen" when in fact it is actually chlorine dioxide, often made of 25% sodium chlorite solution that can be mixed with some water, applied topically. Some people reported succeses both taken internally and used topically. However I don't use this since they cause nausea, and too much causes vomiting, and hence I don't use it. I prefer a much milder remedy than a remedy too strong for me. However it is worth the mention for your information. "

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
11/29/2007: C writes: "I have been reading cures and remedies on the websight and find the information extremely insightful, thank you. I recently began taking organic Apple Cider Vinegar ( 1 Tablespoon w/ 1/8 teaspoon baking soda) to alleviate herpes simplex symptoms. However I have been having constant recurrences and I'm wondering if the apple cider vinegar can cause this? I'm not certain the exact mechanism of the virus but is it possible that this could mean that the ACV is detoxing my body and making the virus leave the cells? Or...does it just mean the ACV is wreaking havoc on my system and causing an influx of symptoms?"
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The proper remedy for apple cider vinegar is 2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar plus AT LEAST 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water, otherwise problems will occur as the it may be too acid for the body.
It must be noted that herpes grow best in acid environments and a body with insufficient bicarbonates to neutralize the acid may cause virus to grow. The 1/8 teaspoon plus 2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar is acid, and has a pH of 5, and is never used in any of my remedies.
If there is problems of such use, I would much prefer to use a much simpler, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day, or perhaps a 2 tablespoon lemon or lime juice in 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 (at least) glass of water.
It should be repeated again that I would never use less than 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda, and I have a preferance for a greater than or equal to 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda.
It should be noted that zinc supplements is very important if there is herpes, such as zinc acetate or zinc gluconate, 50 mg/day or only 4 days out of a week.
It is most important that baking soda is taken sufficiently to get urinary pH to 7 to tame the herpes. However certain other antiviral amino acid might be helpful such as Lysine and arginine taken together. Warm Castor oil packs applied to the area might help if other remedies were unresponsive, but in general, this is rarely done. There are other remedies that I used, such as peppermint oil taking 4 drops per dose 3-4 times a day, I considered to be antiviral too and may be helpful as well as olive leaf extract, in case other remedies were not available or cannot be purchased.
In my opinion, zinc and alkalization (most baking soda) is two most important remedies against the Herpes Simplex Virus. The other, may be some sea salt and H2O2 drops. For example 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt plus 5 drops of H2O2 in 1 full glass of water, or another better one 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda plus 5 drops of H2O2 in 1 full glass of water taken in the morning, and possibly another one in the evening. APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
11/29/2007: C writes: "Thanks so much Ted. So the virus isn't being forced out of my cells, just reactivating?"
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The excess acidity from the apple cider vinegar may reactivate the HSV assuming the body has insufficient bicarbonates to neutralize the acidity of ACV, besides the sugar and white bread and oily foods, of vegetable oils, with exception of fish oil, which are antiviral.
One additional tip: taking drops of peppermint oil (usually 4 drops) 5 or 6 times a day may also inactivate many of HSV too, and is synergistic, but the basic is to get the urinary pH high enough to be close to 7 and if not as well the drinking of more saline water (such as up to 1 teaspoon of sea salt) may further the effect of killing the HSV. HSV are relatively sensitive to alkalinity, salinity, zinc, and certain aromatherapy oils such as peppermint oil. I have as yet to look at eucalyptus but peppermint oil has worked well too. "

OUTBREAK OF VIRUS BY DRINKING FLAVOURED SELTZER WATERS
06/18/2007: Anonymous writes: "Hi, I read your wonderful website info on herpes. Thanks for sharing the wealth of information on this topic. I've found my doctors know very little on the topic except for writing an RX. Here's one I haven't heard ANYWHERE but by me. I can get an outbreak of this virus by drinkiing those seltzer waters that come flavored (you know, orange, berry (esp.) and others). Am I alone in this? Just wondering."
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "It might be that certain ingredients such as sweeteners rather than flavoring was what triggered the herpes outbreak, such as aspartame. Usually orange oil, licorice oil have antiviral properties, BUT not aspartame hidden in the ingredients that might trigger them.
It also depends on the active ingredient labels of the product, some are actually quite good. What I would stay away like the plague is when they started adding aspartame and paracetamol (acetaminophen). The aspartame breaks down into toxic substances such as formaldehyde, which lowers the immune system and indirectly supports viral growth.
Paracetamol causes damages to the liver function (sometimes the kidney), which is essential in detoxification, leading to autotoxification (self poisoning), which lowers immune system and supports the viral growth.
Certain formulas do have antiviral capabilities, where aspirin dissolves virus, and are synergistic with both vitamin C and zinc. A very popular anti cold formula actually took advantage of this fact, along with the bicarbonates, where the body's need for alkalinity rises dramatically to kill the virus.
In my own experience (it saved my own sister's life), is that aspirin and certain amount of caffeine, raises the body's metabolism to fight off the virus. If it hadn't been for that she would not be alive today as she was inflicted with a terrible pneumonia as a child. Of course that was 1965, today, we can use other suitable substitute that can raise the metabolism besides just the caffeine such as sodium malate (baking soda reacted with malic acid, or apple cider vinegar with baking soda). In case you might wonder if is aspirin safe, in event of a Reye's Syndrome. My own observation is aspirin is totally useless and get worse if you eat sweets, fruit juices, and cakes. So I might be off on this, but there are some growing literature that Reye's is not the issue because of aspirin use. It may either be an unidentified hepatitis A, or a metabolic disorder (fructose intolerance), which also displays a Reye's syndrome. Therefore, such syndrome may in fact be non-existent disease after all, but it is due to other conditions that normal routine procedures overlooked (e.g. hepatitis, chicken pox, malaria, fructose intolerance). In other some other cases' Reye Syndrome is displayed without aspirin use, but from outbreak of influenza B and H1N1. Obviously, an outbreak of these kind, often happens in school due to popular use of soda pop and high sugar products. Therefore a seltzer should obviously not contain sugar or even artificial sugar.
Certain green tea also denatures the viral protein (tannin), aspirin dissolves it, and baking soda just burns them with alkalinity and oxygen.
Therefore, it is not the product, it is the ingredient that I would stay away from. So read the labels, not the brand."
