WARNING!

[YEA]  05/02/2006: Nora from Hillsboro, OR: "I was so surprised when I didn't see Rutin mentioned as a cure for hemorrhoids. My dad had a severe case and my mom read somewhere to try Rutin and it cured them. Mom told me when after pregnancy I got them. I've told neighbors and friends and it's helped them all. Rutin can be found in a health food store. It comes from Vit C. I take 500 mg's every day until the pain is gone. It usually takes about 1 to 2 days for the pain to go and then I quit paying attention. DO give this a try and let me know if it worked for you too!!"

[YEA]  10/08/2009: Kelly from Dallas, Tx: "Hemorrhoids were something that I never thought would happen to someone in their 20's. I have had 5 children all in a short span of time. With my first, I did not have hemorroids. The 2nd child, I started to feel hemorroids coming on. By my 5th child, I was having hemorrhoid surgery when I was 6 months pregnant and then again right after the baby was born. The doctor told me they were larger than anything he had ever seen before, and this is his profession! After the last surgery, he told I didnt have any veins left there so I would not have a problem. Within a few weeks, I knew I had hemorroids again, even if he told me that was impossible. Over the years, I went to a TCM doctor who told me I had too much fire in my liver. A drain fire supplement always worked at making them go away. Now into my 30's, I am pregnant with my 6th child and it wasn't long before my hemorroids started to flair. By the time I was 6 months pregnant, I thought for sure I was going to have to have surgery again. I had about 4 and they were clotted and about the size of my thumb and fingers. OUCH! Being pregnant, I knew I had to be careful with what I took. I ended up taking 500 mg of Rutin and 200 mg of B-6 at night. I already take a B complex in my prenatal protocol. I do take 1-2 capsules of an oxygen cleanser every other night to make sure constipation doesn't make things worse. Within a week, those clotted, painful, horrible hemorrhoids were back under control. I eat a raw diet and have a poop stool by my toilet for natural squatting BMs. For some reason, the pressure of the baby during pregnancy gives me problems. I give a hearty YES to Rutin and B-6."

[YEA]  06/20/2008: TAN KOON PENG from SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE: "Rutin are great for piles! Rutin is present in many foods, including citrus fruits, apricots, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, rose hips, and buckwheat. Rutin helps strengthen capillaries and blood vessels, and heals wounds.Rutin is helpful in prevention of recurrent bleeding arising from weakened blood vessels
Or
Vitamin B6 tablets. This remedy works after just a day or two. This will work if your hemorrhoids come from a deficiency of this vitamin, which is MANY cases, it does. I had a neighbor with BLEEDING hemorrhoids and she was able to avoid surgery by simply taking Vitamin B6.
Or
Noni
Or
Castor oil

Soursop is useful for high cholesterol, piles and blood in stools etc. Just buy 1 unripe fruit (raw and hard fruit),wash and cut it into small pieces.Cook it for 1 hr under low flame, when ready add some yellow sugar to taste. The fruit can be cooked again for maximum benefits."

[YEA]  06/05/2010: Relieved from Chicago, Il, Usa: "Rutin, Vitamin E, Vitamin B cured my hemorrhoids

This is the first time I posted anything online but because I was so miserable from hemorrhoids and am now completely cured, I have to share the remedy that helped me.

My symptoms started after straining from having a bowel movement. I felt a slight swelling and itching on one side of my rectal area and eventually noticed a medium purple-like bump. I ignored it for several months and the swelling and itching only became worse. I was spotting blood on toilet paper and I have to admit scratching at times with toilet paper. I never wanted to sit and if I did, I had to lean toward the unaffected side. I feared having bowel movements because the pain and itch increased before I had to go. I tried "expensive" prescription creams, over-the-counter creams, anti-inflammatories, apple cider vinegar, witch hazel, Vitamin C, Vitamin B, baby wipes, increasing fiber intake only resulting in temporary and minor relief.

I read on this site about Rutin. I took Rutin 500 mg and I experienced SIGNIFICANT relief the very SAME DAY. I took it daily, but I still experienced annoying anal itch for 1 year.

I started to take Vitamin E for a different ailment in March. Within 2 weeks, the itch was completely gone. I no longer have symptoms. I have been symptom free from hemorrhoids for 3 months. I stopped using rutin and decided to use it if I ever experience hemorrhoids again. I still take vitamin B and vitamin E with selenium for a different ailment. I truly feel like I never ever had hemorrhoids before and have returned to a normal life without anxiety from hemorrhoids.

The remedy that helped me in a nutshell is:
Rutin 500 mg a day
Vitamin E with selenium, started twice a day and tapered down to once a day
Vitamin B once a day
Increasing leafy green vegetables(Kale is my favorite)
Increasing fiber in my diet
Baby wipes, no toilet paper"

I have been applying Tea Tree Oil to my hemorrhoid, and it instantly cools and relieves the pain. I'm not sure if it actually helps to shrink the rhoid, but for pain control, I highly recommend.

I had learned about using Tea Tree Oil to help control and heal pain on a boil I had, so I thought it couldn't hurt to try it on my hemorrhoid.

Hope this helps someone else. thanks, jenn"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  06/29/2010: Big Tuna from Park Ridge, Illinois, Usa: "I really enjoy EC & have used many of the remedies it contains. A few weeks ago I had a rare bout of constipation. When I finally did have a movement, it felt like I was passing broken glass. It took considerable effort (and tears) , but I was finally successful.

The problem is that now I have a bleeding hemorrhoid since that day. I am starting my 4th week of trying almost all of the remedies on this site for this ailment with no success or relief. It has gotten so bad the past 3 days that I can't sleep. Even OTC pain relievers have no effect on the pain. I have taken B6 & Rutin for 2 weeks; no effect. Last night, 6/28/10 I became desperate & took my bottle of tea tree oil & applied several drops to my finger tip & gently messaged it into the hemorrhoid & surrounding area. At first I felt nothing. In about 3 minutes I felt a warming sensation & possibly a little less pain.

I began watching TV & about ten minutes later I realized that I was actually sitting on the couch & I didn't have any pain. I was able to sleep from midnight to 10am this morning. When I arose from bed, no pain. About an hour later I had another BM. I wish I could say it was pain free, but it was NOT! This time I only had a slight trace of Blood. After I cleaned up I reapplied the tea tree oil & had to wait about 10 minutes & the pain subsided. In fact I went out & cut the grass! As I am writing this I am sitting on a regular chair without the dough nut!

I don't know if the tea tree oil will cure my hemorrhoid or not, but it made it much more bearable & I was able to sleep. Tea tree oil is a fantastic product that I have used for years on cuts & scrapes, hot spots on my dogs etc. It is fungicidal, antiseptic & a germicide. It can be purchased from almost any drug store, vitamin/health food store & many on-line vitamin sites. I got mine from swansonvitamins.com.

I know your pain my brothers & sisters.

I am sorry about what you went through.I like to share this info: in Europe we use rutin in powder around four grammes, and here the dosage is only half a gramme it is not enough to make a difference in crisis. As per Adelle Davis (may her soul be blessed for she saved my life) vitamin c and vitamin e (natural mixed tocopherol) every hour at the beginning of the crisis shall reduce the pain in a few hours. The same for thrombosis. Unfortunately I don't remember the exact dosage of vitamin e but if one is not taking any, it has to be a small dosage to start with. As for vitamin c, increase the dosage up to 1/2 gr every hour but decrease the dosage if the stools becomes too loose. (best to use vitamin c as crystal ascorbic acid with bicarbonate to make ascorbate c as per Ted remedy). peace!"
06/30/2010: Brenda from San Antonio, Texas replies: "I know it is in mixed company that I give you this remedy please do not take it wrong, it worked for me. Take a small garlic clove, cover with olive oil or any non toxic oil, and insert up the anus overnight. Yes you might feel a burning sensation, but I have tried this on many people with success. Usually one or two times is all that is needed. In the morning the clove is expelled when you use the restroom. The burning does not damage tissue. And the worst bleeding hemorrhoids will get better. I also suggest any kind of bioflavinoids, rutin, citris or grapeseed daily to keep them away. No, it does not cause garlic smell on the body."

[YEA]  Emilio from Miami FL: "As to hemorrhoids the ones that are external, in other words that you can feel with your fingers. you can try putting any natural or over the counter ointment on them. eventually the hemorrhoids will retract and go back in to the body. But this could take hours sometimes and in the mean time there is pain. If quick relief is what you want take a shower and clean the area good with any soap. Ivory soap is good its 99% soap no oils or perfumes. after you are clean while in shower apply good amount of soap thru fingers. This will act like lubricant and gently with your middle finger not using your nails! push them back in! this works all the time the pain will leave you immediately. This was told to me by a nurse and till this day it works. Just remember -- change your eating habits cause you will get them again or operate them if you don't want to go thru hassle of always having to push them back in..."

VICKS, ALOE VERA GEL

[YEA]  12/07/2008: Vella from Albany, NY: "I've recently bought pure Bragg's organic ACV and have been drinking a cup with luke warm water every day for almost one week. I can't say that I've experienced any noticeable effects yet, but I do like the tangy, mildy sweet taste of it. A couple of times I heated the water a bit more and added raw honey to satisfy my sweet tooth. For me that's like having a cup of tea and is very enjoyable.

I've suffered miserably with hemorroid flareups for the last 10 years (since the birth of my 3rd child). For the last couple of years I've been having a great deal of bleeding in addition to the severe pain. I've been putting off the surgery suggested to me by several doctors and decided to look for alternative methods to manage and hopefully cure this painful condition.

I tried Vick's as suggested on this site when I was out of Prep H and plus I felt that it has been losing its efficacy on me. Vick's was like a wonder drug and shrunk the swelling way faster and more effectively than Prep H. I had already been applying aloe gel as I was aware of its healing and soothing properties. The combination of the 2 made me feel 100% better. My only problem now is that the protrusions return after each BM. I'm hoping that eventually my body will heal to the point that they don't return. I used to like to do strength training (I'm a woman and was only using 5-10 pound weights) but had to abandon it because of the pressure it put on my roids and caused me to have really bad flareups after each workout. I would love to be able to return to strength training.

Bye bye and God Bless!"

[WARNING!]  07/09/2008: Jualsy from Torrevieja, Spain replies: "Don't ever make the mistake of isolating the B vitamins, for whatever reason. They are synergistic....they all need each other. If you take one in a strong dose for any particular reason, take a smalled B complex tablet too so that they are all present. Large doses of isolated B vitamins have side effects. Wonderful Vits, but all needed to be present to work permanently."
12/26/2008: Vickie from Spokane, WA State replies: "My doctor has me taking a high dose of B-2 as one of the supplements for my migraines. I have been doing this for almost a year without taking any other B vitamins and have had no side effects. On another note, I have just started the ACV for migraine prevention. It sure helped me today!"
08/28/2009: Mara from Portland, Usa replies: "Julasy makes a very good point. B-vitamins are indeed found in nature in a complex. However, unless someone has a health condition that contradicts this, they *can* be taken separately in *therapeutic* does for *therapeutic* reasons. Indeed, it's helpful to take even therapeutic doses along with a B-complex supplement. But this is not mandatory, especially in an emergency. Or if there is some reason a whole complex cannot be taken. If uncertain get at least 3 opinions from health care practitioners who are trained and have actual experience with this kind of therapy.

WATER RINSE

07/25/2011: Jean from Denver, Colorado, Usa: "For bleeding external hemorrhoids, this is what I had great success with. If you have a bidet, use it. If not, you can make a portable bidet with a plastic glass or pitcher of cool to lukewarm water. Use plain water with nothing added. Skip the toilet paper, medicated wipes, etc. Instead, while seated on the stool after a bowel movement, slowly pour the water over your anus while you gently swish with your fingers. Yes, your fingers! I know, I know... But life is full of unpleasant tasks, and anyone who has ever changed a diaper knows that poo is just poo, not hazardous waste. After cleaning yourself with the water, GENTLY blot with a soft cloth or towel. Apply a small amount of vaseline or aloe vera if needed. If you feel that ACV helps you, fine. It didn't help me at all. By removing the irritant of using paper, the bleeding should stop within a few days. Over a period of a few weeks the hemorrhoids may shrink, as mine did, and become much less of a nuisance.

A further word about poo: Ideally, it should be sausage-shaped, about the color of peanut butter, and neither too soft nor too hard. It should leave very little residue on your bottom. If yours is a sticky, sludgey mess that's hard to clean, or if you are frequently constipated, that's a good indicator that you need to correct your diet. Try eliminating all sugars, including artificially sweetened foods and drinks, as well as most starchy foods such as white bread, pasta, white rice, etc. Stick with a very basic eating plan -- fruit, veggies, protein, and whole grains. Cut back on coffee and drink a lot of water. Take a high-quality probiotic for a few months. Get the kind that has to be refrigerated. Your pharmacist should be able to recommend one. Also helpful are powdered green drinks, if you can stand the taste. Start with one that's flavored. (The unflavored ones taste like pureed grass clippings. ) Health food stores generally have a good selection."

Pour a cup of white vinegar into a sauce pan and bring it to a boil. Turn of the heat and add enough salt to form a supersaturated solution. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature and, using cotton swabs, apply the mixture to the afflicted area. Do this two or three times a day until the hemorrhoids have shrunken The cure does sting a bit, but a little pain far outweighs the benefits of this procedure."

WOMEN'S UNDERWEAR

YEA

[YEA]  01/19/2006: Martin from London, UK: "A suggestion for men, from someone who suffered from the effects of mild hemorrhoids from time to time over several years. Mine were most troublesome in warmer weather when during the day ... and the kind of itching that really drives you mad - usually at a time when I was out of the house and not anywhere convenient for applying creams etc. Looking for a more natural solution, I wondered if my underwear may be part of the problem; I spend a lot of time sitting, and used to wear regular boxers or men's briefs but I found that their thickness and/or the amount of material involved made the area extra sweaty. I tried (going without) for a while but although this helped stop the itching I found it generally uncomfortable.

So some months ago I took the step of trying out smaller, ladies bikini and boyshort-style underwear which is of a much lighter weight, around 20 to 30g - compared to the 60 to 80g weight of my old boxers!! I was initially uncertain about trying this but discovered there are plenty of plain styles (without too much in the way of frills and lace!), that still provide all the support a guy needs round the front, yet made of much lighter material. I have not experienced a itching since - so in my situation, improving the airflow "down below" was a definite help."

ZINC OXIDE OINTMENT, SPRAYER

YEA

[YEA]  02/14/2009: Ken from Santa Cruz, CA: "Thanks for the great website! I will certainly try some of the suggested remedies. I would also like to share some of my experiences.

First of all, I'm NOT constipated. My bowel movements are remarkably predictable (daily, usually early morning) and strain-free. However, afterward, the hemorrhoids usually appear and will remain distended for hours UNLESS I perform my post-BM "ritual", which consists of lying face down on a flat surface and relaxing completely. I remain in this position for 5 or 10 minutes and during that time I can usually feel the hemorrhoids retract, after which I'm good to go.

This doesn't always work. When it doesn't, I apply a small blob of a product called Desitin. Sorry, I know I'm not supposed to submit product names, but this one is not widely known and is God's gift to hemorrhoid sufferers. It comes in a tube and is a white ointment containing zinc oxide. It won't cure the hemorrhoids, but it makes them a lot easier to live with. Don't confuse it with your toothpaste!

Another thing that has helped a lot: several years ago I visited a friend in Thailand. In that country and, I assume, many other Asian countries, most of the bathrooms are equipped with hoses that are used to clean the rectal area after a bowel movement. They are similar to the sprayers found on many kitchen sinks in the US, and those can probably be adapted for this purpose by a competent plumber or do-it-yourselfer. I brought one back with me from Thailand and I use it to clean up after a BM, followed by lightly patting the area dry with toilet paper. This is MUCH better than wiping with dry toilet paper, which just causes irritation and bleeding. You can also buy toilets with built-in bidets which serve the same purpose."

I have chronic constipation. I also have a 9-5 office job and also do computer work from home so this has lead to me getting some internal hems. I tried to change my diet to include more fiber in most all meals, which helped a little. When I eat cereal I put a little flaxseed oil as well. I am also taking psyllium husk with breakfast and dinner to ease BMs. I started putting a cap full of ACV into a glass of water and drinking that after breakfast and dinner, so I can brush my teeth after. I feel better in general and I think it's from drinking the ACV.

As for the hems, I've been soaking a Q-tip in AVC and applying that directly on the hems. It stings a little but has really worked for me. The only problem is with itching. For the first couple weeks it stopped the itching, but now it's coming back with a fury! It seems like a cut that's trying to heal, so it naturally itches. Not sure what I can do to allieviate that yet, but with all the comments on this thread I am greatful. I'm getting positive results and feel better."
