[YEA]  10/20/2007: Allen from Cincinnati, Ohio writes: "After reading the anomyous comments about releaving heel spur pain with soaking the foot in ice water I decided to give it a try. I started last Sunday evening soaking in about 3 inches of water with ice cubes for about 5 minutes. I continue doing this 2 times a day and after only 2 days my heel spur pain was gone. I had delt with this for more than a month trying custom orthotics, a cortizone shot, stretching exercises and Advil to no avail. Ice water worked for me too."

[YEA]  07/13/2007: Anonymous writes: "After getting two cortisone shots, I still had heel spur pain, Cold or hot compresses didn't work for me, and instead of going back to the doctor for a 3rd shot, and another bill to pay, I was determined to try my own remedy. I got one of those plastic Tupperware tubs and filled it w cold water, then I put a tray of ice cubes in it. I soaked my food ankle deep for @30min last night and did the same technique mid afternoon today, and already my heel spur is gone!!. I believe any bone ailment is best cured by submerging in water. You also have better movement in water. Maybe best to get to swimming pool."

Now when they start she goes to the grocery store and buys her favorite jello and proceeds to make a cup of hot jello tea. She uses 1 heaping tablespoon in a coffee cup everyday and usually gets results in 2-4 weeks. She stays on it for for a while longer then stops until the next time usually a year later."

03/25/2009: Suzi from Missoula, MT replies: "Hi Mike....would you or your wife explain more in detail how you take Jello? I'm interested but confused. Thanks!"

1 QUESTION

[QUESTION]  06/09/2009: Ali from Kitchener, Ontario Canaada writes: "My question is for Ted,but would be gratefull to know if anyone else has found a natural remedy for heel spurs. I developed very painful swelling on the tendon on both sides of the ankle. When I pressed on the sore area it felt almost as if it where a fluid filled growth on the tendon of the right ankle. The Doctor sent me for X-Ray and it showed a heel spur, he then told me to take some OTC pain medication, that was all I could do about it.The pain is very bad the first hour ,after I get up in the morning, and the swelling is becoming worse, and has now developed on the tendon on my left ankle. I am still a few years away from retirement, and don't want to limp my way through life with this pain. My urine PH was an acidic 5.5 I do eat a healthy diet and drink lots of water. Ted if you could give me any suggestions as to what might help me I would be very thankful. Bless you for all the helpful information you provide, and a huge thankyou to EARTH CLINIC, what a fabulous site and thanks to all for their in put. Ali"

06/09/2009: Anon from Anon, USA replies: "one web site stated that heel spurs are a form of arthritis so your heel spurs may respond to tart cherry juice which helps with inflammation. if you can't find fresh tart cherries you might find canned tart cherries in the pie filling section of your grocery store, or cherry concentrate at some health food stores, amazon.com has canned tart cherries or google to see which cherry orchards sell tart dried cherries, juice and/or capsules. wishing you a quick recovery from pain!"

TURMERIC

1 YEA

[YEA]  06/21/2007: Aaron from Cape Coral, Florida writes: "I tried the TURMERIC remedy for boils about 4 days ago, initially with little hope it would work, but in a state of desperation, since this was my THIRD boil in less than 6 weeks, and I had 2 more starting! I went out as soon as I finished reading all of the testimonials on your site, and bought a bottle of Turmeric capsules from my local GNC. That night I took three 500mg caps with dinner, and another 4 capsules before going to bed. (If a teaspoon is good, a tablespoon is better!) The next morning the boil on my stomach, which was a dark purple golf ball radiating excruciating pain the night before, was now a light purple golf ball that was starting to drain, and the pain had gone down by 80 to 90%!

In addition, one of the new boils that was just starting, (a tiny painful pimple,) started to heal, and the other one, slightly larger, while it didn't go away, it stopped growing, and with 72 hours it too drained (really like a normal pimple, only thicker discharge and more painful.)

It's now been about 4 days, and while the large boil is still draining (the core came out yesterday) and is still very tender, it is healing and no other boils are starting.

BUT!

The big BONUS is this: The arthritis in my shoulder that I've been suffering with for the last year, is gone, and even more exciting, I have been dealing with Heal Spurs (Plantar Fasciitis) for about 2 years, and have been suffering TREMENDOUS pain in my foot, every day, all day.

Within 24 hours of taking the Turmeric, my feet have COMPLETELY stopped hurting!!!I plan to continue taking at least one capsule a day indefinitely as a preventative for recurring boils, and as an apparent remedy for my Heal Spurs!!! The real miracle here is that I don't even believe in natural remedies! Thanks so much for the great advice!!!"

03/24/2009: Catherine from NY, NY replies: "Why not make it a regular part of your diet? I buy bags of it at the Indian market for very little money. I use it during my meal preparation several times a week. It tastes wonderful in/ on food and it does help to get rid of boils. I once had a painful boil and placed the turmeric directly on the boil and covered it with a band-aid. Two days later the boil was completely gone. Apparently it helps to reduce inflamation, which is why it helps with arthritis."

ULTRASOUND AND CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENTS

1 YEA

[YEA]  02/14/2008: aaron from irving, tx writes: "work as a medical professional and see this problem on a daily basis. not only have i seen this problem, i also was one to have a bad heel spur in my heel. Ultrasound treatments along with correct alignmengt of the hips and back can cure this problem. Ultrasound is commonly used in the sports medicine field to help increase blood flow to areas of pain and where problems persist (note that this type of ultrasound treatment is not the same ultrasound as used on pregnant women). The ultrasound will help soften the calcium of the heel spur and help the body reabsorb it. Treatments should be continuous 5-7minutes per time with a intesity of .5. Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapist and Chiropractors have access to this type of treatment. Also i have found that correct laignment of the hips and back can lead to severe heel pain which can result in heel spurs. If the hips and back are out of line then too much pressure can be put on one heel as opposed to the other. This mis-alignment can cause poor biomechanics and cause severe heel pain. A chiropractor can help assess and see if this can be the problem and help correct it."

WRAPPING FOOT WITH DUCT TAPE

1 YEA

[YEA]  01/30/2009: Leta from Bolton, NC writes: "I have been suffering from pain in my heels for about two years. Since that time I had a child and gained weight and it really became unbearable. I figured it was heel spurs because my mama always suffered from them. I went with my daughter Christmas shopping right before Christmas and was unable to stand up for very long after a few hours of shopping. I had to continously sit down and I knew it was time to get help. I had previously purchased inserts for my shoes over the internet over a year ago and it helped but they had wore down and I didn't use them this day.

The next business day I scheduled an appt. with the foot doctor only to find out what I already knew BUT it wasn't the bone spur causing the pain. The muscle under the foot becomes weak over the years and with the added weight it would become inflamed. The doctor told me he would wrap my feet with tape and I thought, "he must be crazy", tape is not going to help my pain. I figured I would have to have shots in my heels like my mama did years ago. After he wrapped them, it felt strange and it was really tight. It was uncomfortable at first and he told me to wear them for 5-7 days without getting them wet. Again, I thought, "he must be crazy". I put my shoes on, left and that evening noticed I had less pain. The next day, even more less pain. Well, by the fourth day, I had little to no pain BUT they were beginning to smell because you weren't suppose to get them wet, and of course, I did when I washed. (I tried wrapping my feet in plastic, didn't work). So I took the tape off and thought, well, now what. I had went to Texas with my husband and wouldn't be back to NC for three weeks so I knew I had to do something. I first tried wrapping my feet with sports tape but just about cut my circulation off so I got on the old faithful internet and came across Duct Tape. Yes, duct tape. I wrapped my feet around the arch, snug but NOT tight. I wrapped it from one side of my foot, around the ankel to the other side. It worked a MIRACLE! NO pain all day long.

I went back to the doctor after I got back to NC and told him what I done. He was suprised the duct tape didn't tear my skin but I told him I used the generic kind at a dollar store and it worked wonderful. I would then get in the shower and let the water loosen it up and take it right off. Please keep in mind, I use the exercises they tell you to do to help alleviate the stress on the muscle and my feet are doing much much better. I still have to wear the tape and do the exercises and DON'T go barefooted and my feet aren't hurting like they were. I can go all day long and at the end of the day, they feel fine. Also, he had prescribed me pain medicine which I did not take after two days of using the tape. Hope this helps. leta"
