Hair Loss and Hormone Issues
03/26/2013: Joy from Battleground, Wash: "I don't have any hair loss , but I read a lot and in the book by John Lee, What your doctor may not tell you about menopause, he writes that some people get estrogen dominant from our food, water, plastics and fertilizers, anyway, he says many people who get their homones back into balance can reverse their hair loss.
There is hairloss with thyroid imbalance and you can have an imbalance even if your tests come back normal , read the book by Mary Shomon, the thyroid diet revolution. It's not a Diet Book, but reviews of what helps to heal the thyroid .
Frequently a progesterone deficiency/imbalance due to estrogen dominance in men and women. Hope this helps someone.... Sometimes you just have to try a little dab and see if it helps"
Replies03/27/2013: Joy from Battleground, Wash replies: "Googling around again and one site said to no longer use soap or shampoo on hair but 1/2 cup soda in 1 1/2 cups water and massage in scalp and then rinse with cold water as little as needed and don't mess with hair much, combing , curling , styling , but massage head once in a while until improvement shows.... Hope this helps."
Hair Loss and Wilson's Syndrome
04/16/2010: Pr from Houston, Texas, Usa: "For the last year I have been experiencing hair loss and have tried every remedy on EC with no help. Hopefully I think I have finally found the answer to my problem thanks to EC and those who post here. One day someone posted info on Wilson's Syndrome and I followed up on researching it.
The short of Wilson's Syndrome is you can have all the symptoms of low thyroid but your blood work is fine. The key is low oral temperature below 98.6 on a regular basis which I had. I talked to my doctor and she said she treated this and even had a blood test to check for Wilson's syndrome. With Wilson's syndrome your body is unable to use the T3 your thyroid produces so the treatment is T3.
I have just started to take the T3 twice a day. Internet info says 12 hours apart. Also I was extremely fatigue more so than usual as I have been working on getting rid of CFS and Fibromyalgia. Actually it felt as if I had fallen into a big black hole and couldn't get out. Thanks again EC because I had not heard of Wilson's Syndrome and my doctor didn't look for it with my history of CFS and Fib."

[YEA] 03/24/2008: NADIA from LONDON, UK: "I HAVE TAKEN ALOE VERA JUICE FOR NEARLY 2 YEARS...EVERY MORNING AND NIGHT.. IT HAS TOTALLY CLEARED UP MY TERRIBLY PERSISTENT ADULT ACNE.MY SKIN IS VERY RARELY BLEMISHED NOW AND IS PLUMP AND YOUTHFUL.
HOWEVER RECENTLY I HAVE HAD QUITE EXTREME HAIR LOSS FROM ALL OVER MY HEAD. MY MOTHER THINKS IT COULD BE FROM THE CITRIC ACID USED AS A PRESERVATIVE IN THE ALOE VERA JUICE.
HAS ANYONE COME ACROSS THIS, OR HAS ANY THOUGHTS?:)"
Hair Loss From Fungus
08/30/2010: Adam from Sherman Oaks, Ca: "Hi Ted, I have been reading your all your comments on earth clinic about hair loss and I need your advice. I believe that I have fungus or something that is causing the sides of my head to grow in patches. Basically I have like like one normal hair and next to it a baby hair which doesn't seem to grow anymore... Now I am wondering in your opinion what can be the cause of this? Can this be Calicum buildup or fungus? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Adam"

[QUESTION] 09/01/2009: Raja from Brampton, Ontario/canada: "Hi, I am 37 years old. I started losing hair at age 20. Lost most of it due to hypothyroidism. Now I eat a well balanced diet and take thyroid medication. I have started seeing little thin hair, but they don't grow more than that. Is there any thing I can use to increase the blood circulation and thicken these thin hair. And will I ever have full head of hair again? Plz. help."
Replies09/04/2012: Jackie from Charlotte, Nc replies: "Serrapeptase is a natural blood thinner.. This would help increase your circulation.. It helps with so many of my ailments not sure if would help or hurt you hair loss situation..I would be curious as to what Ted thinks about this one.. "

Hair Loss From Ringworm

[QUESTION] 03/23/2010: Haddasah from Sydney, Australia: "I have hair loss at the back of my neck, especially on the left side. I thought it was from the turtle necks I love to wear. Now I have a bald spot on the right crown of my head. Additionally, my hair near my right ear is thinning. I now remember I got ringworm from hairclippers on the back left of my head many years ago. In 2006 I noticed a bump in both the spots where my hair is gone. I have started using tea tree oil, rosemary oil, lavender and baking soda. Please advise me if I absolutely need to see a doctor for an oral drug to cure my scalp. After 5 or more years, is it possible for my hair to come back. It has only come out completely in the last year. Prior to that it just itched and thinned. As a woman I need my hair! Thank you."
Hair Transplantation

[YEA] 10/30/2008: Mike from Sofia, Bulgaria: "I have to say I am surprised nobody has mentioned hair transplantation. All the remedies above are fine but I don't see many MEN who had a total regrowth of hair. I lost a large portion of my hair by the time I was 38. I had a transplant of about 5800 hairs from the back of my head to the top.
Now I have a full head of hair and don't need to worry about it anymore. It's been an amazing boost to my self confidence. If you have the money, do your research on the forums and find a top surgeon.
WARNING: There are many bad surgeons out there. A bad transplant is worse than no transplant as you can end up with a bad result and a nasty scar - so do your research!"
Heavy Metals and Hair Loss
03/30/2013: D from San Diego, Ca: "I just submitted a post yesterday which was titled "Questions about detoxing from heavy metals". My main question was about the bolts in my knee from a surgery in 1988, if it were possible that the metals could be leeching into my system. And whether doing detox methods might be worsening the problem because the bolts cannot be removed.
One of the symptoms is hair loss (I'm a woman, 43, of lower-than-average weight). I had also written this yesterday:
So I wonder if my hair-loss and other stuff has to do with my body attacking itself? Like if my hair is "toxic" because of constantly detoxing, that my body may be attacking it? The roots seem to be declining, fading away, and new hair comes in so baby-fine that it doesn't seem to stay in for long. I know the hair-loss isn't the main problem but a symptom, i'm just using it as an indicator. My thyroid hormone level is back within normal range (back down to 4.5 from 7.5), so I'm ruling that out as a possible cause. Another symptom is fibromyalgia-like, but with a hyperactive mind. So physically exhausted but amped-up at the same time. And Magnesium Chloride did not help with sleep. And there's other "this and that" inconsistant symptoms, not too drastic, but which could be attributed to so many other things too (like candida, deficiencies, ph balance, parasites, allergies, neurological restrictions, glandular, other toxins, altered immune system, IBS, etc etc).
I know that nuclear fallout from Japan could be a factor, being downwind from the jetstream here, but I would think there would be a mass epidemic of hair loss here if that were the only factor. (maybe there is but nobody is speaking about it?)
I stated in the other post a few of the methods (like oil pulling) and supplements i'd been doing. I've also tried the (expensive! ) hair product brand advertised all over the radio as being a sure thing for hair growth, guaranteed. It didn't help at all. Now I mostly use diluted baking soda, ACV, and aloe juice, instead of shampoo, and had done a bit of the Borax rinse. I'd tried oils like olive oil and VCO, but that only causes more hair to fall out from the extra rubbing and rinsing. What's left of the roots is so miniscule and weak.
I just started taking Lugol's too. But now it seems I'm losing hairs more constantly. Not in chunks (I don't have enough hair to call "chunks" anyways) but single strands. Often, a strand falling out catches on my arm and it feels like a spider web, it's so fine!
Could my immune system really be attacking my hair because of the metals and such collecting in it, from cleansing it out of my body?? So detoxing may also shed off my "toxic" hair? If that's the case, I guess I have to just let it all fall out until it's done??? That would suck, but if there's no other way...
Any suggestions, info, or comments are much appreciated! Thanks"

[YEA] 02/28/2009: Rod : "Ted: Something going on with a mixture of h2o2 and vicks (on skin). heals skin super fast and also speeds up hair growth. i'm trying 10 drops of h2o2 three times a day but getting some constipation. i guess i need more fiber. trying vicks for wrinkles also."
Replies03/02/2009: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The vicks on skin or scalp helps with getting a skin rehydrated -as vicks major component is vaseline, while eucalyptus oil have some limited antifungal as it also degrades to hydrogen peroxide also, so it kill both bacteria and fungus. Borax used a shampoo has the same property in killing off the fungus, but not retnetion of moistue. Also a borax with 0.5% hydrogen peroxide as a shampoo, can also helped, but I used a vaseline, instead of eucalyptus oil (the vicks) as some people are too sensitive to use this kind of remeay over a week. In excess that may also kill off the hair roots. We just use enough to kill without harming the hair. My own application of tea tree with lavender or alone on scalp is only once or twice application only so much less then a week's time to do its job. Vitamin C is important in basic hairloss as it helps collagen formation and makes the hair roots more stronger. As to the h2o2 drops taken internally helps rid of fungus and pathogens in the blood, as well as oxygenate teh blood, so this helps with hair loss.
However, I also believe tin deficiency is one of the causes, a tin supplement isn't easy to acquire either and the dose is quite low, such as 1 mg. The only way I see to get an amino acid chelated tin is to get a real tin can, or a tin metal and soak them in a soy sauce. A soy sauce is actually amino acids which will chelate them in very low amount and use them as a food flavoring added for soups. Tin deficiency is relatively low in Asian perhaps because of the use of tin in cups and cans, while tin is a deficiency since the switchover to the use of aluminum cans and plastic lined canned, which by they way are the source of estrogen, in the form of bisphenol A, which I believe is unhealthy for hair growth and weight loss also. Also Western culture use a lot of carpets, which is a mjaor source of fungus, that also leads to hair loss too.
I have found woman who take progesterone help with hair loss, but it becomes an addiction. If discontinued, hair loss gets worse. So in men, one other common cause is hormonal imbalance, which in some instances magnesium and boron (from borax) supplementation often helps normalizes this condition and helps with hair growth. Peroxide cleans the blood increase oxygen in the blood also. This can be proven through medical examination where blood's oxygen capacity does increase after taking peroxide drops. Hydrogen peroxide is amazingly stable and don't degrade easily in low dilution where water is also free from free heavy metals. If it is high, they tend to degrade quickly into numerous air bubbles which came from an old rusty faucet, or a old rusty water filter. Luckily today Iand unlucky at the same time), most water filter are now from plastics, but certain water filter again may generate bisphenol A if the wrong kinds of plastic were used. There's no way we can find out without proper analysis on that one and water filter companies don't even have to disclose whether some of the water filter are bisphenol free, or other contaminants from it's production. In any case, I think its still better then the metal filter ones.
Ted"
11/26/2009: Kathy from Sandy, Ut, USA replies: "Is the hydrogen peroxide you use a food grade or pharmaceutical grade or just the stuff in drug store aisles?"
