BETTER BUT NOT CURED

[YEA]  09/23/2009: Kindee from Southbridge, Massachusetts writes: "I tried this brushing technique for hair loss and noticed a difference within a couple weeks. I really had my doubts, but truthfully I feel that nowadays I have less hairs falling than I ever have.

I always had really thick hair which I took for granted but over the past few years it had been shedding at a more and more rapid pace. It began to look thin, and I had a handful of maybe fifteen hairs nearly every time I ran my hand through it. Naturally I was panicked and self conscious at the age of 23, but was reluctant to use certain topical drugs and other unnatural "remedies." Since starting this technique once a day or every other day, along with decreasing my shampooing to two times a week (three max), my hair has looked great! Shiny, full, and I've had several unrelated unsolicited comments from people I know about the difference they noticed.

All I do is flip my head over and use a boar's bristle brush over all my hair until it's brushed (sometimes this requires pre-combing if it's knotted), making sure not to put pressure on the scalp, and I can feel the follicles being stimulated. Flip back over, brush it all down, and viola, treatment over.

No more clogged drains, no more hairy brush. I also quit eating beef; I wonder if this had anything to do with it? Either way, now I'm grateful for the hairs in my head, even though they're turning gray. Thank you earth clinic."

[YEA]  03/06/2008: Shirley from MO writes: "I would like to share this with earth clinic and Ted. I found this on the Internet but sorry I don't remember where or I would give them the credit for this simple stop hair fall out remedy.

This person said to use a soft bristle brush such as a boar bristle brush and bend forward at the waist and brush your hair toward the floor. Do not push brush into the scalp but just start at the scalp and brush to the tips. (I use the other hand to hold the hair against the brush) No certain amount of times to brush. When you have all the hair brushed this direction, stand up and now you push the brush against the scalp and brush your hair towards the back or sides with constant pressure on the brush. Again this doesn't have to be done for any certain amount of times, just until you get the hair all brushed.

You can then style your hair. They said to do this 3 times a day.
I only do it twice, first thing in the morning and before I go to bed.
Their statement was this: Your hair WILL stop falling out. Not maybe or should stop.
So that's what convinced me to try it.

I am 65 years old and I have been losing hair constantly over the past few years. I tried a lot of diets, meds, shampoos and even one of Ted's remedies, with no success.
So when I read this article, I thought that's easy and cheap to try. I can do that.

I expected it to take a long time to show up if it was doing anything. To my surprise the hair fallout was stopped the first time I did this technique.

In the past, after each shower, I would have to clean the hair out of the drain or it would clog up.
The very first time I did this brushing there was nothing to clean out of the drain. I was so shocked because nothing had ever worked that fast to solve any problem I've had in the past.
I have been doing this for about 2 months now. The balding spot on the back of my head is completely gone. The thinning part on each side of my head is full again.

I didn't want to tell anyone until I knew for sure I wasn't imagining how well it works.
This person said as we get older we loose something on the scalp but that it's still on our hair, it just won't stay on the scalp. (I'm sorry I can't remember the word he used for that, but I'm sure Ted would know.)
The first brushing we are collecting this and the second brushing we are depositing it back onto the scalp where it is needed.

While getting my hair cut the last time, my beautician told me that my hair was very healthy and so was my scalp. I never had anyone tell me that before. I hadn't mentioned doing this to her. So it's noticeable to others.

Thank you"

08/19/2008: Sad Ger from Singapore replies: "hi mdm, i would like to try your technique but forgive me, i do not really get what you meant. do i brush the scalp out to the hair tip in both direction? is that what u meant?"
08/20/2008: Shirley from Missouri replies: "Response To 08/19/2008 Sad Ger from Singapore:

Answer,
I hope I can to be clearer about the way this brushing should be done. When you start to brush your hair while you are bent forward and have your hair toward the floor, you start at the scalp but do not put pressure on the brush at the scalp. At this point you don't want to be brushing the scalp but just the hair. From the scalp you brush your hair down to the tips.I use one hand to push the hair into the brush and brush all the hair starting from the back of my neck down to the ends.

When you're finished, you would stand up straight again. Let you hair fall back away from your face and brush from the forehead towards the back or from the crown down the sides. When you begin this brushing, you hold the hairbrush firm onto the scalp and beginning brushing from the scalp with pressure on the brush, and brush the hair towards the back, sides or whatever feels right for your hair.

Hope that explains it more correctly. If not you may send me an email for more info."

08/21/2008: Norma from Austin, Tx replies: "I found the brushing technique quite interesting and am anxious to give it a try. I am 67 years of age and have started losing some hair, so hopefully this will help. Thank you for the info."
11/21/2008: julie from Sydney, Australia replies: "Just to clarify - when I lean forward I hold my hair in one hand, start at base of scalp and kinda glide the brush through the hair to tips. Do I go round the side and front as well? So I'm not really touching my scalp with brush more like feeding my hair into brush at this point with not much pressure at all. More like I want to wipe my hair through the brush. I do this from base down to tip back, side and front. Then I stand up and apply pressure from front to back tips side to back tips and base underneath to tips. Is this correct? Thanks."
11/23/2008: Shirley from Missouri replies: "Reply to; Julie from Sydney You have the idea, I think. There's nothing different about the way you would be brushing your hair anyway. Except you brush the underneath hair first without pressure on the scalp. Then you stand up and you will start to brush your hair as usual only with pressure being applied to brush at the scalp."
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  11/24/2008: Pamela from Houston, Texas replies: "I don't know if this brushing technique will grow hair back. But, I gotta tell you I have been doing it for 3 days now and I am hooked on it. It feels so good to me that I look forward to doing the brushing. I don't have a lot of hair loss but some thinning on top thought I would give it a try. Will let you know if my hair thickens up. Thanks"
[YEA]  02/25/2009: May from Portland, Oregon replies: "I want to thank you for posting this, and affirm that this really worked for me! As another poster mentioned, it may not be a hair growth remedy, but it sure does slow or halt the hair shedding. This regiment should be a must for anyone with a certain length of hair. I saw a dramatic decrease in the amount of hairs that I shed while washing my hair, and it is now down to 1 or zero! I had read about brushing with a boar bristle brush on a Long-Hair web forum, in order to decrease the shedding and clogging in the shower, but they did not list this technique and I only tried this after reading it here on earth clinic! Thank you so much!"
05/14/2009: Ana from Linden, New Jersey, USA replies: "i have one question...ive heard about this technique and i really need to try something new for my hair loss,,,,but i have curly hair. Theres no way i can brush the curl...what is a subsitute for brushing?"

[YEA]  04/15/2008: Doris from Santa Ana, USA writes: "re: Lustrous thick healthy hair.. Through my younger years in professional career, many were spent car-pooling. The Spanish women I knew all had lustrous spectacularly thick raven hair. Then, marrying, my own Spanish-American Indian origin mother-in-law also did. She said 'well of course all natives of her vicinity, New Mexico and that nearby So Amer region, boiled their cattle's beef bones till the bones were softened, and the water was marrow filled. They'd add a bit spoon or two of home pressed olive oil and use it as a hair treatment, as we do in salons today. What a difference in my own hair in those years. Also, rubbing cold pressed carrot juice, for the vitamin A, fully restored a male friend's hair from total baldness. CAYENNE PEPPER AND ALOE VERA

YEA

[YEA]  05/16/2008: Vinny from Atlanta, GA writes: "Not only does Cayenne Pepper & Aloe Vera prevent hair loss and help in it's growth, it also SUBSTANTIALLY diminishes and/or gets rid of acne where ever it is applied. I would suggest not to use the household cooking spice (if you can help it) only because I believe the Cayenne Pepper tablets are much stronger. I mix Cayenne with Aloe Vera and put it on my face and after application, I get more Cayenne Pepper to mix it in just to make sure there is enough C.P Be cautious that it does not go in your eyes as it will burn! In fact, after application, it will burn but you have to be strong! I usually keep it on my face for about 20mins so I try to leave it on there. It will burn but after you rinse your face with COLD water (carefully making sure it does not go in your eyes), you will be glad you did. After an hour or so, you should see a huge difference, if not right after your rinse."

EC: Vinny, can you please tell us how you apply the cayenne and aloe vera to prevent hair loss? Measurements, application process, etc. Thanks!

[YEA]  06/27/2008: Robb from Charlottesville , VA replies: "I've been using this liquid cayenne (in a dropper) for about 3 weeks now and my hair feels a lot thicker. I have diffuse thinning in the front, not very badly tho. just enough that i can notice and that i want to do something about it. anyway, i've been using it and i've noticed LESS hairloss. DHT covers and suffocates the hair follicles from blood and all the nutrients in the blood (vitamins b, a, c, e, etc etc). the cayenne helps BIG time with circulation. all i know is that it is def. helping!!!"
10/02/2008: TA from Orange County, CA replies: "Do you apply the ceyanne directly to your scalp or do you take it internally?"
01/05/2009: Laurie from Sudbury, Ontario replies: "Yes please tell me how it worked on your hair, thickening it that is. how much aloe and pepper did you use, how often and how did you mix it? Thank you."
01/06/2010: Nannette from San Antonio, Texas replies: "Please tell me how cayenne pepper and aloe vera worked on your hair, how much aloe and pepper did you use, how often and how did you mix it and what was the final result? Thank you.

Did you use the regular gocery store cayenne pepper and fresh aloe vera, mixed in a blender or what. Please give more detail."
02/14/2010: Vinny from Atlanta, Ga replies: "Hello, I apologize for the late response. The first week, open one capsule of Cayenne Pepper, wet your hair a little, empty the capsule where you want hair growth and then add Aloe Vera on top of it. The amount of Aloe Vera will depend on how much hair you have. You will want to use Aloe Vera to "spread" the pepper. The gel also helps to prevent hair loss as well. The first week will be painful. Keep in hair for about 20mins, rinse it off with cool or cold water, and do not rub your eyes with your fingers as your eyes will burn.

It will burn for about 15-20mins later after you rinse off. Put on your hair for 2-3x/week. Week 2 should be not too bad as it will not burn as much. In about 2-3 weeks, you should notice some hair growth if you do it regularly. Also, on week 2 or 3, increase dosage to two capsules and keep increasing it to however you can handle. I hope this helps. My hair has helped a lot due to this remedy!! It forces blood to your scalp and cleans whatever it needs to (like Acupuncture except this remedy is a little painful at first)."

EC: Thanks for the update!

05/18/2011: Rkm from Springfield, Va, Usa replies: "I would like to know that when you say the aloe vera/cayenne pepper mixture has to be rinsed, do you mean just with water or rinse it by shampooing the hair? Because I have been shampooing my hair after putting this mixture on."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  09/09/2010: Bulbultuk from Bangalore, Karnataka, India writes: "Today at 58 years of age I am very happy to say that after many years I have succeeded to grow hair on bald areas of my scalp. I have Male Pattern baldness from at least 10 years. I tried all treaments including Minoxidil etc. But to no avail. Finally desparately I started searching the NET for natural cures. I came across The Cayenne Pepper E V Olive oil and started using it on 15th August. Today its 24 days and I can see new hair sprouting. Maybe I have to wait for a longer period, say 3 months to see a noticeable growth. The new hair is thin and looks almost transparent or colourless you may say. I want to know how this new hair can be nourished to thicken and grow longer. I request readers to suggest a remedy for this. I shall update about future progress as things change. Also I will guide anyone on this cure. Please email me your queries. Thanks. Bbtk."

[YEA]  09/14/2010: Bulbultuk from Bangalore, Karnataka, India replies: "It is exactly 30 days since I started using the Cayenne Pepper EV Olive oil treatment for growing hair on my balding patches. (Male Pattern Baldness). Am happy to say that the following formula has given encouraging results. (This is the proportion I have used to make a potent infusion of oil to concentrate it. No side effects have been seen).

You will need:-

1. 50 grams of Powdered Cayenne Pepper of highest scoville units (Buy strongest red chillies and get it powdered in the CHAKKI. Avoid readymade chilly powder like Tikhalal, MTR etc as they may contain preservatives and salt).

2. 100 ml of the best Extra Virgin Olive Oil like Figaro.

3. 1 glass bottle with a tight cap.

4. 20 grams of black Pepper powder (kaali mirch).

METHOD to prepare the OIL. Pour all the above ingredients in the bottle and after shaking the mixture store in a cool dry place. Shake every day for 2 minutes so that the peppers dissolve their potency into the oil. After a week you may start using the oil on your scalp. 1 TEASPOON will be sufficient to cover a bald head.

HOW TO USE. Before applying the oil you have to apply juice of half an Onion 2 pods garlic on the bald areas rubbing vigorously for 2 to 5 minutes. Wait 15 minutes for scalp to dry onits own and apply the OIL infusion evenly. Mildly massage scalp till it absorbs the oil. Cover head with a WARM cap or shower cap or monkey cap. Go to bed with cap ON. Shampoo in the morning. Apply pure coconut or mustard oil on scalp during bath as is usually done in Indian hoseholds.

IMPORTANT.... Take care while washing your head as even the water flowing down the face can burn eyes though its harmless. FREQUENCY..... If applied daily results can be seen within 2 weeks. Queries are welcome on my cell no. 09343158575. Between 9AM and 7PM IST."

I noticed that a balding part of my scalp rejuvenated and hair started to grow !! after 6 months I started to let my hair grow without cutting it, I now sport hair beyond shoulder length, something which I couldn't do since my hair was very fine and scanty !! ( I also take apple cider vinegar half a teaspoon daily with honey) My sister and brother also tried it, we noticed that facial skin became more youthful !! due to the blood circulation?"

QUESTION

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  09/07/2010: Tasha from Raleigh, Nc writes: "I have had some success with using Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) topically for hair fall. I was diagnosed with diffused Alopecia areata long ago when my hair loss started at around age 19. My hair loss has slowly progressed for nearly a decade. I usually have increased hair fall in the summer and my scalp is ALWAYS tender. So much so that adding a barette or pulling into a ponytail causes my scalp to hurt so bad it causes headaches. I've tried some EC recommended remedies during this approx 2 month bout of intense shedding.

ACV, BSM, Idoral have not helped. The one thing that has reduced my shedding is applying coconut oil topically. I saturated my scalp, let sit for a couple hours and then attempeted to wash it out. This stuff is not going to wash away easily as my daily rinsing with white vinegar(make hair gorgeous! ) has yet to displace the oil completely. The next day my shedding was GREATLY reduced and is still reduced 3 days later. The downside for me is that I DONT care for my hair texture or the appearance of my hair(greasy) after the VCO application. My scalp sensitivity is also up (sebum cause by the oil?). BUT for those without my AA issues, I recommend highly trying VCO externally for hair shedding."

[YEA]  01/31/2009: Chris from Army base, USA writes: "Regarding organic virgin cold pressed coconut oil, I internally take 3 tsp daily, as well as oil pull with it, and for skin, it is a great makeup remover as well as facial cleanser and moisturizer. For hair, once a month; I saturate my hair (dry hair) with the oil, then wrap in saran wrap and cover with a warm towel for no less than 2hrs.; then wash normally. It is IMO, one of the better oils to use externally, since it absorbs so quickly, and is less damaging than all those nasty chemicals."

04/05/2009: Sandy from Fort Lauderdale, FL replies: "Hey Jose from the UK- just make sure that the coconut oil you get says that it's virgin coconut oil or unrefined. You can find coconut oil in health food stores. I know in America they even have them in GNCs. If you go to a store and look at all the different kinds that there are look at the bottom and get the one that is pure white. Some are yellow at the bottom or greyish etc. The purest white one will taste the best and is simply the best to use. If you can't do this. I hope this helps!"

Just get some virgin coconut oil and just lather it up on the scalp. All you have to do is to make sure you rub it on the scalp. Also if you want to double it up I like to also use aloe vera for my hair to make it nice and shiny and for hair lost. I hope this helps! As far as how often I think it depends on the person. I've only done this maybe about five or 6 times in the past year and my hair is a lot fuller. I would try maybe once a week on the weekend or once a month. Also make sure to leave it for an hour or two so it really is absorbed by the scalp."

I have heard that colloidal degreasers (the kind used to clean grills),which are environmentally safe and non-toxic, can grow hair. Has anyone else heard of this?"

EDGAR CAYCE'S HAIR LOSS REMEDIES

YEA

01/25/2012: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia writes: "This is a remedy from Edgar Cayce who was a medical intuit and some say a prophet. He could put himself into a trance and offer advice to people on healings. I read it today and thought I would post it here. This is the question asked of him:

(R) How may I promote the growth of new hair on my head?

(B) Eat more shell fish and rub same with a few coffee grounds occasionally.

Perhaps any males out there (or females) could try this and report back?"

01/28/2012: Mary from Rural, Va replies: "I can't speak to Edgar Cayce specifically, but this remedy did peak my interest. I have been losing hair by the handful since I can remember, at least all of my adult life, and I am 53. It suddenly stopped recently. I have been trying to figure out what I have been doing differently that has made the difference. I have been taking multiple supplements for years, added some, stopped some, but I couldn't think of anything that I had started just prior to my windfall (or should I say lack of hairfall).

But one thing I did consider, I have been eating shrimp maybe a couple of times a week for about the past year. Then I saw the post about Edgar Cayce's remedy. We may be onto something here. I have not tried the coffee, so I cannot speak to that. I had also been supplementing with kelp, and doing occasional iodine painting. But maybe the iodine in the natural form is the key."

01/28/2012: Maria from Gippsland, Australia replies: "Hi Mary (from Rural, Va), As hair loss can be a symptom of iodine deficiency I think you have found your answer, congratulations. With shrimp and kelp containing iodine plus the iodine painting you are correcting your deficiency. Could you please tell me which form of iodine you are using for the painting? Thanks."
01/30/2012: Mary from Rural, Va replies: "Maria, I use your basic drugstore Potassium Iodides. The colorless kind."

[YEA]  02/09/2010: Linda from San Antonio, Texas writes: "I am female, 58 years old, and I always had thin, fine hair that became thinner as I got older until you could easily see my scalp throught the hair in the front and the crown of my head. About 3 years ago, I started using Pennsylvania crude oil per Edgar Cayce's protocol and I am still amazed as my hair just gets thicker every month; new growth is constant. I have never had hair like this, even as a child. I was always self-conscious about my hair (vanity?)and used any means possible to make it look thicker; perms, coloring, teasing. I feel great about the way my hair looks for the first time ever (I can remember sending nightly prayers as a child for pretty hair). I just want to tell everyone I see with thinning hair about it! I don't very often, though, unless asked. I have told several hairdressers so that they could share it with their customers; suprisingly, only one of them showed any interest. There are about 6 recommended steps to the protocol, including an herbal tonic and massaging with petroleum jelly. I started with just the petroleum jelly for financial reasons, and I saw rapid improvement in just a few weeks. Then I added the crude oil and the herbal tonic and I have been using those three since then. I use the oil followed by the petroleum jelly once a week and the tonic once a day. The instructions on his site are clear and you can also see the products if you look on his website for companies who make and sell products made with Edgar Cayce formulas. I had to write because I have used many remedies from this website and I am very grateful that you are here, all of you!! Namaste."

[YEA]  12/16/2010: Brooke from Montgomery, Tx, Usa replies: "Yes it works! I don't even know how long I have been using the crude oil, Vaseline, massage, and shampoos - 15-20 years or so! It has made my hair not fall out but it never changed the appearance. Two months ago, I got the tonic and now my hair is growing faster, it use to be so thin, but now it is thicker, I don't need to use hair spray anymore either! If I want to curl it, I curl it and it stays curled! It is amazing that for as long as I have studied the Cayce readings (25 years) that I never tried the tonic!! I would suggest it to anyone who is having hair loss. If you start with his remedies right when you notice the hair loss, it would be better. If you wait until it all falls out, it may be too late.

The formula has the following ingredients:Lactated Pepsin, Black Snake Root Extract, Essence of Wild Ginseng, Atomic Iodine, Extract of Liver, and Grain Alcohol. It can be found online or at a health food store."

11/24/2011: Jackie from Grand Rapids, Minn replies: "Hi, I've looked at Cayce products before and just took the plunge to purchase. I purchased from baar.com. Amazon sells them but I was concerned maybe they weren't the genuine full strength products. I bought crude oil treatment, rinse, and shampoo and a different line of spray in conditioner for the scalp. There weren't too many testimonials, but those were good, claims of better conditioned, fuller hair, one claim of thicker hair. I'm 64 and lately my scalp is becoming more visible in areas, on top and on the crown, and I don't want it to get worse. My hair is almost totally gray and very dry. Conditioner helps only a short time and it's dry again. My scalp is dry too, produces very little sebum. However I have no dandruff or itching. My overall hair look's dry and tired, no volume, won't hold a curl. I'll post results in about a month."
11/27/2011: Jackie from Grand Rapids, Minn replies: "Just read on this site about splenda and hair thinning and loss. Thanks whoever posted this, I wasn't aware. I started using splenda 2 yrs ago, using it in coffee and baking. Claims to block the absorption of vit d and proteins and kills the good bacteria in the colon. I found other side effects others have complained of on the web I have some of them such as the feeling of water dripping somewhere on the body, night sweats( I even started sage capsules to cut down on the perspiration), itching ( which I thought was from dry skin) mental fogginess which I thought was just me. I cut it out completely this am and I do feel more focused. Thanks to all who post here."
11/27/2011: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "Splenda contains aspartame which is a poison to the body. Google "Excitotoxin"... It can cause seizures, parkinsons disease and cell death."
[YEA]  01/02/2012: Jackie from Grand Rapids, Minnesota replies: "This hair regime seems to be working. I think I will forever stick with it since it doesn't take that much time and I have the routine down. My hair after a month is no longer dry, my hair roots no longer ache on top of my head. I'm able to wear a short bob haircut with bangs without using heat appliances, curlers or styling products. It has a little volume compared to the starting point where it layed limp and lifeless flat to the scalp.

I use the cayce crude oil every 10 days followed by the cayce rinse and shampoo, and every other day in between the crude oil treatment, I apply jamaican black castor oil to the scalp by pouring a little oil at a time in a dish and dipping the fingers in and rub into the scalp, leave on overnight and shampoo with cayce shampoo the next day. Massage the scalp at least once a day. After shampooing and the hair still wet, dip fingertips in white vaseline and rub on any scalp areas that show ( on myself it's along the part on top and cowlick on crown. ) Use just a little, it won't make the hair greasy. I stopped any artificial sweeteners, use a toaster oven instead of microwave, use only cast iron or stainless steel pans, no nonstick, use coconut oil for cooking. I take quite a few supplements, andrew lessmans hair, skin and nails, andrew lessmans evening primrose oil, a. L's omega fish oil, and recently added biosil. And a. L.'s complete multivitamin. The hairline feels fuzzy, the hair has a little lift so it looks thicker, all in all a big improvement in a month."

EMU OIL

[YEA]  09/17/2008: Maiya from San Francisco, California writes: "I am a female, 53 yrs old. Three months ago my hair started falling out. My scalp was burning and I had red patches and itching. I had numerous blood tests done, but all the blood tests came out normal. I believe the hair loss and scalp problems were caused by an allergic reaction to Prozac, so I went off the Prozac immedietly (It takes 4 to 6 weeks for Prozac to leave the system). But I needed something that would stop the hair loss and scalp pain fast.

I tried switching shampoos and using other OTC products, but nothing would help. I lost half my hair. Then I read an article about Emu Oil for hair loss. I started using it on my scalp and got immediate results. The burning and itching stopped within 2 days and my hair stopped falling out. After using it for only 1 week, I noticed new hair coming in. I would highly recommend Emu Oil to anyone with scalp problems."

Just make sure the brand you use is fully refined. Expensive, but a little goes a long way. They have a shampoo/conditoner that I also use. I massage the oil into my scalp at night and use the shampoo in the morning. I have hair down to my waist and I'm thankful I won't have to cut it all off now."
06/08/2009: Marie from Wellington, New Zealand replies: "Hi Maiya, How often did you apply it when your hair was falling out? I bought some yesterday and applied it last night and washed it this morning. I hate washing as more falls out. How often did you apply it - weekly? or everynight then washing in morning? or just several times a week?"

EVENING PRIMROSE OIL

[YEA]  Mary from Nevada City writes: "Evening Primrose Oil cured Hair loss (eyebrows due to low thyroid. I first started taking this (two capsules a day of NOW Super Primrose) because it is anti-inflammatory, so I thought it would help control asthma, and it is reputed to be helpful for that. Within a few days I felt warmer -so I did a search to see if it also helped thyroid. It did - and it can help restore hair loss due to low thyroid. About a month later I saw that my eyebrows were starting to come in again! My hair is also thin at my temples. The left side seems improved - the right not so much. I am also trying to reduce stress in my life, and I've recently started taking kelp. SO this plus primrose might help. I have a sense of well being when I take the kelp - so I know it will begin to heal me on a deeper level."

[YEA]  04/16/2010: Constance from Los Angeles, Ca replies: "I have always had very thick curly hair, but when I went into menopause, I surely lost half of it. My hair was falling daily by the hundreds. I decided not to freak out because I figured the stress would worsen the problem. I satured my hair with EVCO, Olive oil and West African Shea Butter overnight before washing, and although this softened my hair and made my curls more luscious, it did not entirely stop the falling hair. What seemed to stop the excessive falling hair is when I started taking about 2 grams of Evening Primrose oil daily. I heard you could go up to 4 grams, but I use 2 grams. It's definitely worth a try for those of you who are experiencing alot of falling hair. I also tried mashing a banana, and leaving in my hair for about 30 minutes before washing. I heard it supplied the hair with the necesssary nutrients it needed. I can say it made my hair very soft. Will it also help with falling hair? I can't say for sure, but I do believe the Evening Primrose did, and everything else is icing on the cake."

04/18/2010: Anon from Anon, USA replies: "You might look into getting more iodine.

Kelp/seaweeds/seafood for starters.

I am learning about the importance of all this just recently and came across a hair-loss connection, among
a lot of other things.

I like seaweeds because they have a lot to them, just the same. Iodine yes, they say kelp is highest in this...but they have a way of centering. Like zen in a cup of tea and seaweed salad.

07/08/2010: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "How do you take the evening primrose oil, Constance?"
[YEA]  07/08/2010: Constance from Los Angeles, Ca replies: "Your suggestion, Anonoymous, made sense to me. The combination of menopause and lab work which revealed slightly lower thyroid values caused me to think part of the hair loss problem was hormonal/endocrine in nature. I did add kelp, and other seaweeds to my diet. My hair loss did stop after supplementing my diet with evening primrose oil, and further, since adding sea vegetables to my diet, I have not had any falling hair problem at all in many months. I believe my hair, so to speak, has completely stabilized. Thank you for your intelligent suggestion. Much appreciated."

GENERAL FEEDBACK

02/02/2012: Alastary from Frankfort, Kentucky, Usa writes: "Ted, I have developed hair thinning after drinking senna tea and having acupuncture done in my scalp. The thinning area is directly in the area on my scalp where the needles were inserted.

Also What supplements resemble the actions of ASTRESSIN-B?

Read this article please.

According to reports, researchers came across the discovery when testing a chemical compound on genetically-altered mice. The mice's bodies had been programmed to overproduce a stress hormone, called corticotrophin-releasing factor (CRF), which, in addition to other things, caused them to lose their fur as they aged.

As part of the study, the balding mice were given five daily injections of a recently-developed anti-stress hormone, astressin-B, and then returned to their habitat. Three months passed, and when scientists returned to collect the rodents for follow-up studies they unexpectedly discovered the once-hairless subjects had re-grown their fur. Reports indicate the injections were 100 percent effective in re-growing hair.

"Our findings show that a short-duration treatment with this compound causes an astounding long-term hair regrowth in chronically stressed mutant mice, " said Dr Million Mulugeta of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

"This molecule also keeps the hair colour (and) prevents the hair from turning grey, " he told the AFP news agency.

"This could open new avenues to treat hair loss in humans, " Dr Mulugeta added.

Here's how MedPageToday characterizes the research:

The mutant mice bred to overproduce the stress hormone corticotrophin-releasing factor become bald on their backs as they age. But after a week of daily injections with a compound to block CRF called astressin-B developed by the group to treat gastrointestinal disease, the mice unexpectedly regrew their missing hair and were indistinguishable from controls.

The effect remained for up to four months, which the researchers pointed out in a press release is a long time in a mouse's less than two-year life span. It far exceeded the mild regrowth produced by minoxidil (Rogain) in the same mouse model, the group reported in PLoS One.

Since CRF is also expressed in human skin, the researchers expressed optimism that a similar approach could be a "breakthrough therapy for alopecia."

I used to have little dandruff plugs on the ends of my lost hairs just above the roots, but I'm fixing that with clove oil in water aswell as vitamin A and E every second day.. I think the cause of my hairloss was being exposed to mold in my old house, I have now moved house... My question is, can mold exposure cause hairfall on all hair on the body??? Or is pubic/body hair loss really uncommon?

I still have a normal looking head of hair but I can tell it's not as thick as it was

Just adding that I still smoke cannabis every second day or so, could this affect my treatments?"

09/05/2011: Philipa from Houston, Tx writes: "After not too much research on the Coppola Keratin treatment, I had it done last year (7/10). I had super thick coarse curly, hard-to-manage hair. It was supposed to loosen my curls and eliminate frizz. My results were ok. My curls ended up being almost gone and even now (9/10), the texture is not back to normal. In fact I have less curl and more frizz. I was managing that, but now realize that my hair is thinning on top, mostly at the hairline and temples. It must have been happening slowly throughout the year. I never noticed extra hair loss, but I think that is because I lose so much usually. I actually think my hair didn't fall out so much as it just stopped creating new. I've been putting a 1/2 acv, 1/2 water mixture on it and am thinking that helps but it seems to iritate my scalp. I notice my scalp is somewhat pink.

Any help would be much appreciated!"

Next, start eating 2 eggs a day along with one vitamin B-complex tablet. This has worked for me and seems to help maintain healthy skin and fingernails also for some reason. Also, some form of moderate exercise, like riding a bicylcle or taking a brisk walk for a mile or so is good for you.

I had noticed I was developing baldness when some doctor switched my pain medication from codiene to darvon. This darvon stuff made me go bald on the top of my head. I had the doctor switch me back to codeine and then I began eating the two eggs and taking the one vitamin B-complex tablet every day and the bald spot went away. That was about 20 years ago and that bald spot never came back....oscar"
