WORKED TEMPORARILY

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  01/11/2010: Jason from Socal, Ca: "Several months ago, I became seriously ill. My stomach was upset at all times, leading to vomiting and diarrhea some of those times. It was determined that I had an h. pylori infection. Now, I have a general mistrust of doctors. They seem to know a lot about pills and surgery but very little about achieving and maintaining health without surgery or hard medicine. For this reason, the common proton pump inhibitor/antibiotic method was not appealing to me.

It has now been one week since I began my own remedies, and I am feeling better than I have in some time. I am sharing my daily regimen, so the work put in will help someone else.

Every day I drink apple cider vinegar. 2 teaspoons mixed with 8 ounces of water 2-3 times daily. In addition, I take 4000 mg's of coconut milk in pill form. I also take 2 DGL pills every day, and finally probiotics, 50 billion cfu's with live cultures. It is very important to ensure that you are guaranteed live organisms no matter what brand you buy. Also, please make sure that you buy the apple cider vinegar that is brown with "cobwebs" floating inside. The cobwebs are enzymes and called "mother". The clear apple cider vinegar without mother, has next to no health benefits. Okay, that's it. Again, this regimen has helped me feel better in about a week. I am still not 100%, but I will update all of you on my progress, and any changes to this regime."

Someone out there must have an answer for me as to what I can do. Its bad enough to suffer with the ulcers and acid-reflux, and now the mouth problem is also taking me over the edge. Help!"
01/24/2010: Judy from High Point, Nc replies: "Janis, I had problems with my tummy-- pain and bloating, Dr scoped and said I had gastritis (inflamed stomach lining) and H Pylori, and of course put me on prilosec then Nexium, symptoms would always return in just a few months, I then took colloidal silver and I have never had any problems with my stomach since. That experience convinced me that in most cases doctors cant or wont cure you- all they know is to give you a pill or cut a part of you out, and started me on my search for natural remedies. Give the silver a try, hope you get the same wonderful results!"

[NAY]  04/06/2009: Roseann from Coral Springs, FL: "Can't seem to kill H-Pylori... I tried the Matula tea and it did nothing. I re-tested and it was still positive, had a very hard time getting my money back. I tried the Mastic Gum, Broccoli sprouts, Cayene Peper. Nothing has helped and I refuse to take those antiboitics, they make me sick. There has to be something out there that helps. I take pro-biotics, cinnamon, ginger. I am at a loss, even tried cranberries. I don't understand why they can't find something else to cure this stubborn bug."

04/07/2009: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hello Rosanne,

I got rid of most all of my GI tract problems years before orthodox medicine decided they were caused by H pylori. I did it by eliminating bleached flour from my diet after I stumbled on the fact that it was the cause of all the almost constant heartburn, acid regurge, nausea, constipation and the peptic ulcers that occurred 3 to 5 times 3 to 5 times per year. However I also have to avoid any thing acid in a metal can (citrus juices, tomatoes, etc). Don't know what is used in the bleaching process that keeps the stomach in a chronic upset state, but life sure is more pleasant when you eliminate it. Of course the increased fiber in the whole grain breads & cereals is probably the major factor in getting rid of the constipation."

[WORKED TEMPORARILY]  02/15/2009: Kate from Seattle, WA: "I have been diagnosed three times with H. pylori over the last eight years, and I am experiencing the symptoms of a fourth outbreak currently. I am reluctant at this point, however, to go back and get tested because the outcome is a fairly awful regimen of antibiotics and all sorts of other stuff. I do get tested afterwards and am negative, but I am wondering if I am just knocking the H. pylori down to a level that is below the threshold of detection. This regimen of medicines usually feels worse than the H. pylori symptoms, and help for awhile, but it always comes back. Does anyone else have this history of repeated outbreaks? I have also tried ACV or baking soda, because it seems like I have widely varying pH levels in my system, not just a basic or acidic system. I can usually tell which one I need- ACV when it feels like I am not digesting well, and baking soda when I have bad gas. I also reduce the amount of protein in my diet because I find it hard to digest, and as I get more symptomatic, I eat less and less in general and only mild stuff."

02/16/2009: Lon from Stanhope, NJ replies: "Have you tried Manuka Honey? I don't have experience with H. pylori, but when I've researched manuka honey for other ailments, h. pylori is always listed as one of the ailments helped by manuka honey. There are various strengths of the honey, depending on the particular ailment it is used for. Dr. Peter Molan of the Waikato University, New Zealand did the original studies on the honey."
02/16/2009: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hello Kate, I had stomach problems all my life until I lucked up and stumbled on the cause. The problems ranged from frequent nausea, vomiting, acid regurg and severe pain from peptic ulcer disease acting up 4 or more times per year.

Can't swear it will work for you and it won't be easy to try it because you really have to use your brain to eliminate bleached flour from your foods. Life has been a whole lot more fun since I got bleached flour out of my life. Cayenne pepper doesn't bother your stomach - matter of fact it stimulates your stomach to produce more protective mucus. Before the medical field jumped onto H pylori as the cause, they had decided that their Sippy and bland diets for patients with ulcers did more harm than good. I find that my stomach and entire digestive system also does not like any acid food from a metal can (all citrus & tomato juices included). Otherwise, just about anything is allowable in my foods ingested.

If you decide to try eliminating bleached flour, remember that most commercial soups, sauces, gravy's, noodle soups are going to be made with bleached flour because it is the cheapest way to thicken their products. Usually you can rely on Pepperidge Farms products to be unbleached, but not always. Once I even found a loaf of Earthgrain bread with some bleached flour listed in the ingredients. I now don't trust any of them. Also don't forget to read ingredients listed on all foods, including those bought in the health food stores, because you will find a lot of things there with bleached flour, MSG and aspartame."

[YEA]  05/27/2009: Lula from Snellville, GA, USA: "here is another cure, I was diagnosed in March, I knew about hpylori because I had done some study on it because my b12 ran low all the time. well the doctors gave me the same stuff the triple threat, that is what I call it and it was depleting my potassium so I went to find natural and came across this website about pine nut oil and I used that and it worked wonderful, but it is a little pricey, so I went to the health food store and got me some aloe vera juice and I already had the oil of oregano so I mix these two together and drink them and I have seen a difference. it takes awhile but it works. I really like the pine nut oil jut couldn't keep it up and where I live, they do not sell it in the health food stores here."

I'm currently trying the Pine Nut Oil but after my first dose I thought "what's the difference in this and olive oil" so I searched out olive oil and h pylori and sure enough it shows to be a remedy also. I'm not sure if these are a cure or just have a soothing effect on the ulcer? Is there a "sure fire" natural remedy that CURES hp?"
06/21/2009: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "For Peptic Ulcer from Little Rock:

Hello PUD,

My stomach problems were eliminated before the medical field discovered H Pylori to blame them on. It takes a little thinking and doing, but getting rid of bleached flower in my diet is what got rid of my almost constant heartburn, indigestion, constipation, etc. Getting rid of whatever is used in the bleaching process got rid of all of my gastric problems, including the awful pain of the peptic ulcers acting up several times a year.
Since I have no problem with whole wheat or other whole grain breads, it has to be something used in the bleaching process. If you do a little research you will find that peptic ulcer was not a problem until somewhere between l0 & l5 years after they started bleaching flower. It remained a disease of the upper socioeconomic group until someone came up with cheaper methods of bleaching flour to make it more affordable to all and then PUD moved down into the other socioeconomic groups. Common sense tells me that both the more expensive and the less expensive methods of bleaching flour is not doing any of our gastrointestinal tracts any good, ONLY HARM. So stop abusing your GI tract with bleached flour to get rid of peptic ulcer disease. Apparently the H pylori (if that truly is what causes PUD) cannot survive in a more healthy GI tract since mine went away without unnecessary antibiotics."
06/21/2009: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "To all who have Gastrointestinal problems:

After reading the other sharers comment about using pine nut oil for her peptic ulcer problems, couldn't help noticing her comment about her B12 running low all the time, and their treating her with triple threat.

I have no idea what triple threat is but probably something to do with boosting hydrochloric acid that our stomachs need to digest our food, and orthodox medical science tells us that without Bl2 you cannot produce hydrochloric acid. So I also connect this mentally with Dr. Jonathan Wright's theory that acid reflux or regurge is caused by too little instead of too much HCl acid.

If my supposition that this all connects, then something in the bleaching process of our flour just may knock out our B12, which in turn keeps our stomach from producing HCL acid."
11/18/2011: Kassys from Kingstown, Rillan Hill, St. Vincent replies: "Hi Lula

Did you ever get your b12 levels back to normal? How long did you have h pylori before you got it eradicated?"

I have also done some reading about tumeric and have been putting it on my food which I think helps too. I take 20 drops of oil of oregano 2x's a day in water. The brand Im taking is Oregano Spirits 'by Herb Pharm. I hope this helps because I was feeling like the Hpylori was killing me. I was miserable and had no energy at all. After the oregano Im feeling so much better and I have more energy. Maybe because my body doesn't have to fight the Hpylori as hard with the help of oregano. He too was told to add Pepto .....a word to aspirin sensitive folks. Don't do it....We were not aware at the time that Pepto contains so much sodium...about 15% we were told.Caused my husband to spend 48 hours of very painful bloated down time.....This after only 4 doses alongwith his prescribed drugs. I think at this pointwe will try small doses of bicarb of soda and some turmeric on some of his food....along with some of the other spices and see if he gets any relief. The distention of his abdomen and stomach along with the pain are the hardest for him....Very uncomfortable...."

Replies
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The distention will be helped with the bicarbonate remedy. The problem about the Pepto is the bismuth. It is a heavy metal. If fluid retention is causing problems alpha lipoic acid supplements and green tea (no sugar no milk) will reduce it too. Pomegranate fruits are also very diuretic, if I happen to take a couple of REAL fruits, not the juice, to reduce the water retention, in case there is one. H. Pylori may also reduced with tannin rich green tea too. Zinc gluoconate sometimes help kill the H. Pylori too, but only if they are chewed I believe."

BETTER BUT NOT CURED

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  07/17/2009: JR from Las Vegas, NV: "Here is what helped me with my H Pylori. I hope it helps others.

After being told I would have to live on antacids, I thought this is not the way to live.I noticed the food I ate was the culprit and caused great disomfort. I also noticed if I was stressed or tired, I also increased my stomach discomfort and pain. After a lot of trial and error, I found the best thing you can do is, eat a diet with a PH balance higher in Alakaline. A simple thing like and apple settled my stomach even in the middle of the night.I looked up which foods contain acids and which ones where alkaline. I bought a ph test paper at a local health store to determine what my PH level was. This test will determine if you are too acidic. If you are too acidic you will have have a low PH under 7.0. When the Ph balance is over 7.0 or higher you will notice your stomach pain is relieved. I have no stomach pain when mine is 7.5, but if it goes lower because of stress or the wrong food I eat. My advice is to look up acidic and alkaline food groups, buy the ph test paper and hopefully you will see it will help your life too.

QUESTION

12/20/2011: Ppat from New York: "Hi,

I was suffering from pain under my left rib cage for the last one month. Went to a GE and he did endoscopy to find out that I have moderate gastritis. The biopsy did show presence of H pylori. He is going to put me on triple therapy soon (amoxy, clarithro and lansoprazole).

Is there a natural way to get rid of H pylori in addition to taking antibiotics? I have read some topics and came to know about garlic, turmeric and virgin coconut oil. Are these good? Has anyone taken the test to detect HP after trying out natural remedies. Also, any opinions about how to control side effects of antibiotics?"

06/22/2011: Jay from Ellicott City, Md, Usa: "Hello,

I have been diagnosed two months back with H-Pylori stomach infection. My Doctor gave me 2 weeks of Prevpac. He said I would get better after that and should get checked up after 3 months. I have finished taking Prevpac and it is more than 1 & 1/2 month now. I am not feeling any better. My stomach is sensitive and cannot digest certain foods. I have lost lot of weight.

I have seen from other posts that taking 1/8 to 1/4 spoon Sodium Bicarbonate in a glass of water 2 -3 times a day will help. My question is will this kill the bacterial infection or do I have to take something else?

Appreciate any suggestions and dieatary recommendations.

Thanks, Jay"

01/30/2012: Ajeeth from Toronto, Canada replies: "I had developed mild ulcers due to H. Pylori 15 years ago. I was given the triple therapy amoxillin, clarithomycin and omezoprezole for 15 days and it worked well. Before that I was trying many natural remedies, but nothing worked. Again after three years I had to take another course of the triple therapy as the H. Pylori does not get completely cured. Now it is under control and I take ACV regularly after meals. I am able to eat all the spicy foods without any problem.

In my opinion it is very important to take the antibiotic triple therapy treatment to cure the ulcers and to kill the h. Pylori bacteria. After that one can control with natural therapy especially ACV."

[QUESTION]  08/11/2009: Ken from Leeds, England Uk: "I have suffered with a bad stomach for most of my life and I will be hitting 60 next year. I have had the so called eradication treatment twice and the H-Pylori has returned. I am waiting to do the stool test and will drop the sample off on Friday 14th Aug 09. Unfortunately I have had to be off the Omeprazole for two weeks prior to the stool sample and have been in agony - acid cruizing up my throat, mouth and in my lungs. The bloating is worse that it has ever been I definitely looked and felt pregnant today. Does anyone know what the bloat is, Gas? water retention? I have been on Omeprazole for 9yrs now and dont want another nine years on it. So on friday will donate the sample and then try everything such as coconut oil Cider vinegar, Citricidal, Lactoferrin, colloidal silver and manuka honey. The bugs will think they have been nuked (hopefully) I'm not sure whether to have the antibiotic treatment first and use the others as a mopping up exercise. Any ideas. Keep up the good work on this site. God bless you all Ken"

03/07/2010: Cb from Blaricum, Netherlands replies: "Hi, A home remedie for stomach issues is drinking raw cabbagge juice in the morning or the juice of a raw potato, (don't quit to0 soon). Using digestive enzymes to help digesting your food is good to. Instead of the digestive enzymes you can drink ACV (a tablespoon with sodium bicarbonate) half an our before your meal. Cayennepepper is also known as a healing agent for stomach problems. If you have such a long time H. Pylori it is very likely that you have a vitamin B12 deficiency as well. This vitamin is made in your stomach/digestive tract (look it up) it is called the intrinsic factor. This deficiency shows up a long time after your body is not being able to make it and it can cause a wide range of ailments for which you can be misdiagnosed! You can take it via a tablet under your tongue together with Folic Acid and/or a vitamin B-complex. Regards CB"

05/14/2009: Bob from Pristina, Kosovo: "Chronic Gastritis: To be honest I have never tried any native herbs. I have been having stomach problems since 1990. Tried all sorts of drugs but nothing happened. In 2006, I was tested positive for H Pylori, and had it treated. In 2008 I was diagnosed of inflammation of the oesophagus, GERD and deudonal problem but no ulcers. I was treated again for the H.pylori, this time with antibiotics, and placed on omeprazole for three months. Few months down the line everything woke up again. Just last week I have been told that the GERD is now chronic, and prescribed CONTROLOC, GASTAL and SPASMEX, and the doctor is also recommending another endoscopic and colonoscopy examinations. Worst of all I am now feeling constant pain in my throat. Last night I decided to check for alternative treatments. The information on the website is great. Will have to try one at a time and will get back to you with what works best for me. But what do you advise- do I stop taking the RX drugs. By the way, I don't smoke neither take alcohol, and I stopped eating spicy food since May last year but the problem can't just go away. Sometime I only feel better after standing up. Good thing though I don't vomit but I am not going to tiolet as I used to. PLEASE ADVISE!"

[YEA]  07/30/2010: Isabelle from Garden Grove, Ca Usa replies: "Hello! I am sorry that you have that nasty h pylori. It is said that half the planet is suffering of it. Many years ago I had an ulcer and although I hadn't heard of h. pylori at the time (in the 60's) I am now sure it was involved. Here is what helped me: a lot of fresh onion juice, (I poured it on my soup). Garlic and rough gray sea salt in a mortar pounded to a paste a bit of oil, I used olive oil then, but, you can use coconut oil for antibacterial property. This paste is to be consumed WITHIN half an hour. (the crushing releases the components, but it kind of loses its property pretty fast. A friend's father who was a pharmacist used to say ). The proportions are small but often. : 2 large cloves 1/8 of salt enough oil to make the paste consistency 4 to 6 time during the day. I did that in the week end for 2 or 3 days for obvious reasons. I also drank a tea of calamus root soaked in COLD water (not cooked) overnight from which I drank a mouthful before AND after my 3 meals, NOT more. That, I kept on taking for a long time, I don't remember, but, 3 months maybe. Also I ate mild food like green beans, carrots, beets, turnips, leeks. I ate meat (today you need to look only for grass fed beef) once or twice a day , 100gr freshly ground and barely cooked a few seconds on each side to make it easy on the digestion. I drank another tea cold (not cooked) this one was for the liver/gallbladder: mistletoe but that was along the day maybe 3 - 4 cups. If your tea is cut: you count 1 tsp per cup, if it is powdered: you count 1/4 per cup of non-chlorinated water. Now, that what I did in those days and it worked. Today, before doing to all that, I would use turmeric for a couple of days; 1 tsp every hour a pinch of baking soda while awake and a soft, almost liquid, pudding of slippery elm in between to soften the stomach's walls. Aloe may be good to for that too. Anyway you can combine. The idea is to kill the bacteria and virus then soothe the walls of the digestive system, while making sure that everything is moving out. I believe turmeric kills and soothes, but I think for the movement, you need the veggies. I hope that gives you some ideas. In Europe there were several herbalist stores where you got advice. Now, we have the net and ec! Look into Austrian Maria Treben -she even wrote a book full of knowledge and anecdotes. I hope you get well fast. PEACE!"

08/02/2010: Tom from Regina, Sk replies: "Labes:

Did you try any of these here:

One answer NOT there is in this short pdf:

Http://www.donaldmiller.com/JPandS Extrathyroidal Benefits of Iodine.pdf

Under "Other functions of Inorganic Iodine":

... And protects against abnormal growth of bacteria

In the stomach, Helicobacter pylori in particular. Inorganic iodine is that unbound to any life carbon, like in foods (seafoods, especially). In other words, LUGOLs solution (5% has 6. 25 mg Iodines/drop) or Iodoral tablets (12. 5 mg per tablet = 2 drops of 5% LUGOLS). Or SSKI= saturated solution potassium iodide. Any budget drugstore no-name Iodine tincture will be OK, too, BUT make sure it's NOT isopropylalcohol-based! (Ethyl alcohol or water-based only. )

You must then adjust oral dosage for how "watery" it is relative to LUGOLS or SSKI.

Here, one well known doc uses 100 milligrams/day in the "boost" phase! :

100 mg would be 16 drops/day of the 5% LUGOLS. Stomach lining cells normally have among the highest concentration of iodine of any in the body! The obvious reason is to kill any bacteria in the food even before the Ig (immunoglobulins) go after it. This would include the H. Pylori already living there."

08/02/2010: Labes from Toronto, Ontario, Canada replies: "Hi everybody, I'm still looking for H.Pylori remedy. I need a remedy that really does work. Thank you very much."

TURMERIC

08/09/2011: Msrose from Newport News, Virginia, United States: "I have been dealing with stomach problems almost my whole life. In 2002, after a series of "attacks", my gallbladder was removed. Since then, it's always one thing or another. Poor digestion mainly. Just recently stomach pain - sometimes severe-, bloating and feeling of fullness is a huge issue. After a gastro biopsy, Dr. Diagnosed me with H Pylori bacteria. 3 weeks of massive dose of antibiotics helped for a few weeks. I was also told 2 prilosecs a day. I am back to square one maybe just worse.

Searching the net, I came across information on Turmeric. Studies show it's a real fighter against such bacteria. Just went and got some from vitamin store and took my first one tonight. Will follow treatment 2x day for at least one week. I will be able to tell because the eternal pain in my stomach will subside (as it did after the rounds of antibiotics) and hopefully the bloating as well.

I hope I remember to post a follow up here (making a reminder right now). Will keep you posted. Promise"
