GOOD NUTRITION
04/23/2011: Jane from Sf Bay Area, California, Usa writes: "RE: H Pylori: please everyone, don't take prilosec for H Pylori, gastritis, GERD, or other symptoms. Please do your homework online and read about the negative effects of these meds on your GI system. I had lost 18 pounds in one year (I as already thin, so not good... Got down to 90 lbs. ) and was diagnosed with GERD & gastritis after a colonoscopy; the DR's wanted to put me on Prilosec, etc. But what I read on holistic health sites explained how those drugs just aggravate the problems! Healing happens through proper herbs and substances, and especially PROPER DIET.
For anyone really serious about healing, go to the web site www.gapsdiet.com, to read about the right diet, and order the book 'Gut and Psychology Syndrome' by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride (don't let subtitle mislead you, it's for all kinds of GI-related symptoms. And no, I'm not being paid to give this testimony. ) I've been following the diet strictly for one year, and am now free of pain and have gained back 10 pounds, 8 more to go. The only lab that ever found H Pylori and 2 different parasites in my stools is 'Metametrix Lab'... Not cheap, but well worth it! So just because other labs don't find H Pylori or parasites, don't believe it (and I sent in many stool samples the past year to different labs). Had I known a year ago I had H Pylori, I could have started all the things recommended on this site much sooner! One product I haven't seen mentioned here: 'Zinlori' tablets, by Metagenics. Expensive, but again worth it: they help restore the stomach wall lining and prevent new bacteria from attaching there (recommended by a holistic M. D.) Also L-Glutamine is very healing; many companies make it. Good luck to everyone! Perseverance furthers."
Replies02/03/2012: Meho from Beltsville, Md, Usa replies: "I am an MD and would like to give some input on this. First at all the standard regimen is amoxicilin 1g 2xd, Clarythromycin 500mg 2xd, and a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole 20mg 2 xd. Now you should not treat yourself as severe side effects can occure and supervision by an MD is highly recomended. First at all H. Pylori can be tested in several ways for active infection. Stool antigen is the best but urea test is good as well. Once diagnosed you should undergo standard treatment for 14 days. After that test of cure should be done best is stool antigen or urea test (not as good). Again biopsy is the best overall test to confirm H. Pylori but not always indicated especially younger than 50 year old as the risk of stomach cancer is very small.H. Pylori is a helical bacteria and about 20% of US population has it. It increases your chances of getting gastric cancer 3 fold over someone who does not have the infection. Indication for treatment is not so well established. And only treatment is performed if ulceration in the stomach or duodenum exist. However, if one does decide to test and the test comes back positive, treatment is always indicated. This is due to the fact that it increases chances of developing gastric cancer. Other antibiotics are metronidazole if amoxicillin allergy exist. There are multiple alternative regimens that can be used if there is a persistent infection. Standard regimen is anywhere 85-95% effective."

[YEA] 11/27/2009: Paulica13 from Fort Worth, Texas, USA writes: "H2O2 cured H. Pylori (bacteria)
I used 3-5 drops of hydrogen peroxide in 8 oz. distilled water. First day 3 drops, then the next day i used 5 drops. The third day bacteria passed through my colon with a splash of blood. Simple and amazing!"
Replies09/02/2010: Alissa from Manassas, Va replies: "Hello, Thank you so much for submitting that information about hydrogen peroxide. I was wondering what brand you use, and where you can purchase it? thank you!"
07/21/2011: Curtis from Desoto, Texas Usa replies: "what kind of hydrogen peroxide did you use? Is it the tropical solution 3% or the food grade solution? What were your symptoms at the time?"
07/23/2011: John from Spring, Tx replies: "What kind of Peroxide will I need to use for H. Pylori and Peptic Ulcers? Can it be the normal 3% or do I get food grade, and who carries it?"
01/17/2012: Grizzly from Dd, Germany replies: "I cannot work. That concentration will be at first much much to low. Secondly HP has a very powerfull ktalaze and will without problem destroy H2O2, the third day bacteria passed through my colon with a splash of blood, it is not possible...I belive in Apple Cider Vinegar becasuse
-low mollecular weight
-it is very acidic
-probably helicobacter have no enzymes which can protect them from acetic acid
-in vitro reserch show good bectericicidal activity
but in water peroxide I dont belive you shoul learn a little bit before swallow something."

KEEP YOUR pH ALKALINE

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 04/28/2009: Howaurayou from Las Vegas, NV writes: "If you have or are suffering from H pylori or just gastric stomach, go to any health food store and get PH paper. The paper dipped in your urine will let you know your PH level. If you are below 7.0, you will notice that is when your stomach will be at its worse. During these times, it is best to eat foods that are alkaline and not acidic. If you are like me, you will see there are foods that are acidic that you have been eating, and causing your stomach to feel even worse. If your body show a PH level below the norm of 7.0 eat foods like apples. When my stomach starts to feel this way one apple usually tones it down and even eliminates the pain and discomfort. It took me a few days of testing my PH levels and eating foods from the the Alakaline group. If you keep your food intake at 70% alkaline and 30 acidic, your PH will return to normal. I feel best when my PH is at 7.5. You may find you need it higher. The best place to look for an alkaline and acidic list of food groups, is to look it up on the internet. It will not cure your H Pylori, but it does make you feel like it is gone if you watch what you eat. Good luck and good health."
Replies01/29/2010: Mark from Mount Pleasant, Michigan replies: "I much agree with the PH balance info. I studied Naturopathy for a year and through the knowledge gained there have been healed and set free from many life debilitating issues. PH balance is one of the foundational principles that plays a vital role in our blood and water chemical efficiency.I have H-Pylori and like many of you, tried everything natural with hit and miss results. Tried the anti-biotics which helped immensely but for only about 7 months. Now it seems to be back. As I reflect on what has changed, it was my eating habits, which always give me the most trouble in winter months in the north. I have been eating way too many acid producing foods and beverages. The various foods and supplements suggested here all effect PH and will do so differently for each person's own chemistry constitution.
One suggestion I have that can also be helpful for intestinal issues is to try using Kefir. It is potent mix of naturally occuring "good" bacteris or intestinal flora. Fair warning though, it's a labor of love to cultivate it but well worth the effort. It will help combat yeast infection (candida). Remember, sugars are yeasts super fuel and energizer. I'm prone to liking sweets and they get me in trouble most when I over eat them. They too are acid producing along with most dairy, refined flours, and caffeine, my other vice."

LIGHT MEALS AFTER 4PM

[YEA] 05/02/2009: Judy from Woodford, NSW Australia writes: "I have suffered from h pylori and night time was the most terrible experience because I could not sleep with the constant irritation of my stomach. I have been taking lots of ginger, garlic, tumeric, cabbage juice, brocholi sprouts, plenty water, probiotics. I have to eat lightly and the most important thing is not to eat any heavy food at night or I won't get to sleep. I therefore eliminate all processed foods - have lots of raw veg salads and light fish. What I discovered eliminated the night discomfort for me was just having watermelon or light fruit after 4 pm - nothing hard to digest. It allows the stomach to heal overnight as the stomach does not have to pump out a lot of acid when you just eat fruit. I started sleeping better, pain went away and I woke up feeling refreshed. I now do not have symptoms. AT night the stomach does NOT want to be digesting heavy food. Sip on teas made from tumeric, ginger, liquorice. When you get enough rest your body will be able to fight the bug."

[YEA] 08/02/2009: Kayadams9@aol.com from London, Uk writes: "EVERYONE WHO HAS GASTRITIS OR ANY OTHER STOMACH PROBLEMS. PLEASE START USING MANUKA HONEY 10+ OR HIGHER. IT IS ANTIBACTERIAL, ANTIFUNGAL, ANTI-INFLAMMATORY, ETC HAS BEEN USED BY THE GREEKS/MAORIS FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS TO CURE STOMACH AILMENTS.MY DAD IS 85 AND LOST 30LB IN LAST 4 MONTHS DUE TO ULCERS, HELIBACTOR PYROLI VIRUS (WE HAVE JUST FOUND OUT AFTER GASTROPHY) AND HAS USED THIS MANUKA HONEY AND IT WORKS! HE CAN LEAVE OFF HIS MEDICATIONS WHICH HAS BAD SIDE EFFECTS. LOOK MANUKA HONEY UP ON THE INTERNET AND YOU WILL SEE LOTS OF TESTIMONALS. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE AND HOPEFULLY YOU WILL ALL BE CURED. PLEASE PASS THIS MESSAGE ONTO YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY."
Replies08/02/2009: K from London, Uk replies: "To totally eradicate H. Pyroli and kill it off within a month - take a dessert spooonful of Manuka Honey UMF 10+ or higher (it goes up to 20+) before meals 3 times and and a spoonful before you go to bed at night. This honey (made from Bees in NZ who feed on the tea tree bushes) has antibacterial, antibiotic, antifungal, antiinflamatory properties and can cure most stomach problems such as Barrets oesephogus, gastritus and stomach ulcers. It can also be used on bed sores and mrsa wounds. Look it up on the internet to see how it has worked for lots other people. Hospitals in UK and Australia are using it to cure MRSA wounds and ulcers on legs, etc. Good Luck!"
10/29/2010: Marlaina from Mclouth, Ks replies: "Has anyone tried tea tree oil? If the honey works then why wouldn't the essential oil work? I have been doing some research on tea tree oil. It kills gram positive and gram negative bacteria. It is antiviral as well as antifungal. Has anyone ever used it for helicobacter pylori? My cousin is suffering from a horrible ulcer. All of the prilosec in the world will not work. He does not have the health insurance to afford the cost of the tests or the antibiotics. Tea tree oil would be cheaper and safer than antibiotic treatment. If anyone has any info on this subject and how to dose, please respond. Thanks!"
11/13/2011: Ian from San Jose, Ca replies: "Last week I was admitted to ER for abdominal pain after consuming a plate of Chicken Enchilladas at a local Taqueria. In minutes my stomach was in knots, my breathing slowed, heart and blood pressure rised to 210/100! Everything in my bowels emptied and I vomited. I assumed that the cause was food-poisoning but after blood-work was drawn and a preliminary examination of EKG, Chest X-Ray was taken. There was no-signs of a viral infection. They did prescribe me with Omeprazole (ant-acid) and Promethazine (antihistamine). Both of which were known treatments for H. Pylori. This bacteria is uniquely adapted to take advantage of the hellish digestive brew in your stomach. It produces an enzyme that prevents the immune system from destroying it. Your body's own immune system will trigger the histamines to fight the infection causing acid-reflux and creating the ulcer.
It's for this reason it can remain in a person's body for decades if left untreated!! When I return to my primary care physician I'm going to present them with this information and suggest these treatments, upon postive verification of the baceteria. I'm glad I read this post. The herbal remedy is superior!

Replies[NAY] 07/15/2009: Angela from Athens, GA replies: "I tried the manuka honey for acid reflux and gastritis, however, it did not work for me. It actually gave me sour stomach really bad. I was taking the recommended 1 tsp. 20 minutes before a meal. It's also very expensive. Liciorice DGL is working for me."
[YEA] 11/28/2009: Alice from Lowell, Ma replies: "I first tried Pine Nut Oil. It gave me some relief, but not satisfied I decided to try manuka honey since doctors were not paying attention to the problem and was told to take meds for the rest of my life. I bought the Manuka Honey ___ ___ and after a few days my pains went away and I was able to eat again. Since then I have been good. I took the honey for 1 month, and I only take it once in a while now. A good diet is also recommended since certain foods will also make the condition worse. Every body is different so this migth not work on all, but i'm glad I tried the honey. Other brands did not do what Manuka did for me."

MASTIC GUM

[YEA] 11/06/2010: Carie from Hudson, Oh, Usa writes: "Went to doctor's office for what I am sure was ulcer. Had the gnawing feeling in my stomach about half an hour after I ate and the other symptoms associated with ulcers. After researching this site, found out that most ulcers are caused by h. Pylori. Tried the Manuka Honey for a while but was not agreeing with me. Tried the Mastic Gum and within three days the gnawing feeling was gone. Took it for 20 days (that was how much I had), two pills in morning about half an hour before I ate anything. Had the die off effects so I did not feel great for a few days but stuck through it knowing it was Herx's. Got tested for h. Pylori after and it came back negative. Got my mastic gum at local health food store."

And now I am very happy, dont know it cured hpylori or not as I have to go for a urea breath test or stool test. But I am feeling much better now. Will keep you posted after my test. I will recomend this to anybody suffering from gastritis or ulcers. Feel free to ask me if you need any more details. Thanks"

I feel that this is too much for him to take but we are hoping that we will be able to cure it. Did you take the mastic gum while your in antibiotic pills? Please inform me the result of your breath test. Were you able to get rid/cure the h pylori?"

[YEA] 03/28/2008: Sue from Webster, NY writes: "I wrote a few weeks ago about taking colloidal silver, mastic gum, yogurt and prilosec for H Pylori. After taking it for approximately 5 weeks, my recent stool antigen came back positive - I do feel somewhat better, but obviously the bacteria is still present. Just an update... I may try ACV or Oil of Oregano."
Replies[QUESTION] 01/20/2009: KATYA from Malaga, Spain replies: "hello, i was recently diagnosed with H.pylori, and i was wondering about colloidal silver if it could distroy the bacteria or not, i've been reading and it says it can, but others like yours say it helped but not erradicated it, i am taking the antibiotics, and other tablets to get rid of it, but i have also heard it can take several treatments to finally defeat it. After trying the traditional western medicine cure and not being able to tolerate it, I started taking Mastic Gum, 2 caps twice daily. I am also taking 3 droppers ful of Colloidal Silver 10 ppm 3 times a day. I am taking Prilosec twice daily and eating 1 cup of yogurt as well. I am having more good days than bad, but am definately not cured yet. I have been on this regimen for 3 weeks and will continue for a few more before trying something else."
Replies08/10/2008: Carlos from PLANO, Texas replies: "Suzan: where Did you get the Colloidal Silver, Have you had asides effects? Well How is everything going with the Bacteria, are you better?
A Naturopathic Doctor can be a solution too, most of them knows how to handle the bacteria? I think. I would really appreciate your comments and advice. God bless you in your efforts. Kind regards, Carlos A. Cardenas"
12/20/2010: Callmemvp from Los Angeles, California replies: "Hey Susan,
I think your problem is that you're over doing it with the prisolec.. U only need to take 1 per day... It supposedly contains a small amount of aluminum and another substance that u shouldn't take too much of in your condition with the H. Pylori bacteria. Hope this helps, let me know how you feel afterwards."

MASTIC GUM, DIGESTIVE AIDS

[YEA] 08/05/2010: Beechee Queen from San Bernardino, California writes: "I was diagnosed with H. Pylori and put on antibiotics and all kinds of medications for over 7 months it was getting so bad I literally stopped eating meals and lived on bananas and oatmeal for fear of the returning belching, gas, bloating, indigestion the antibiotics and endless prescriptions didn't help. Then I searched for alternative remedies and came across a couple of promising cures so I went and bought 3 products hoping that at least one might work. And 3 to 4 days later I noticed that I did not have any more burping, gas, indigestion, or bloating.. It was mastic gum and some digestive aid for healing the stomach lining. It worked I have never had a single symptom since and that was over 3 years ago. It is a sap from a tree that draws out and kills the pylori. I would definitely give this a try."
Replies10/26/2010: Stixoffire from Dothan, Usa replies: "I would like to know what is the digestive aid that you took. What is the name of it. I have read several different reviews on here - many people discuss remedies that deal with the symptoms - but do not cure the infection. That is like saying I have a big gash in my skin that hurts everyday and treating for pain. I do not want just the pain to be gone, I want the cure. I am not allergic to anything that I am aware of and I have tried Manuka Honey (1 teaspoon full) - I had an immediate allergic reaction, my body started to itch everywhere for 2 days.I am thinking to try the Garlic and Broccoli Sprout method. According to the John Hopkins study: "Citing their new "demonstration of principle" study, a Johns Hopkins researcher and an international team of scientists caution that eating sprouts containing sulforaphane did not cure infection by the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. Pylori). They do not suggest that eating this or any amount of broccoli sprouts will protect anyone from stomach cancer or cure GI diseases"
11/23/2010: Lauralight from Portland, Or replies: "Yep, I cured it by grounding up broccoli and putting into my cats wet food and my cat healed from H. P."
11/27/2010: Lynn from Oregon City, Or replies: "This is in regards to the comments about H-Pylori and Mastic Gum. Several years ago our teen son became very ill. He had pain of the stomach, bloating, and overall did not feel well. We took him to regular doctor who without running any tests prescribed over the counter products to relieve pain... This was not effective... Time went on, we revisited the doctor with no good results, and our son became increasingly ill, losing nearly 40 pounds. We became alarmed and took him to another doctor who immediately sent him to a gastro specialist who placed him on antibiotics after finding not only H-Pylori but the accompanying ulcers in his stomach. Much damage had been done. Antibiotic therapy did not eradicate the H-Pylori and we were told after more than two rounds of antibiotics that they had done what they could.A friend of ours who is a health researcher, when he heard about our problem, guided us to Mastic Gum. Our son was put on it, and withing thirty days began to respond positively to the therapy. This was a miracle! Unfortunately, the ulcers had been there a long time and needed healing. This process has taken years... Our son still has problems when he eats the wrong thing but he continues to do what he can...
Side note - antibiotics were not helpful at all and we also administered other products to get his flora back to normal. Now to try the pine nut oil...."
12/17/2010: Name from City, State replies: "Try a strong cup of chamomile tea each night."
[NAY] 12/28/2010: Ian from Nahariya, Israel replies: "I can't speak for Mastic Gum - yet. It is next on my list to try as I have had HP for 10 years on and off. The "off " being on anti biotics but the HP always comes back. Let me warn people against taking Manuka honey. I tried it as some said it had been helpful. It was the exact opposite and I thought I would have to go to hospital. HP loves the sugar. Manuka DOES heal external wounds magnificently though. Another failure is Grape fruit seed extract as a cure. It could conceivably be a preventative."

[YEA] 01/31/2009: Linda from Orlando, FL writes: "I am a nurse, and about a year ago I was seriously ill. The doctors did every test... then blood test which tested positive for H-pylori... I was soooo desperate for a cure... because I could not tolerate the "standard" treatment of antibiotics, antacids; I turned to the internet and found Matula Tea... it saved my life. You have to understand this nasty bacteria had me bedbound for 6 weeks... with one 2 day stay in the hospital for dehydration. After one month of taking the tea, I was tested again and no sign of H-Pylori. I started to feel "Alive"again.
But here I am yet again with the bacteria. I believe I know the source now, because people too can be carriers of this disease with no symptoms. Well this time I decided to try the "Standard treatment" and had a severe allergic reation to the antibiotics, and still have H-pylori positive. I have learned my lesson, I am ordering Matula Tea once again, and the person who I believe infected me is to be tested and treated. "

I was getting so desperate about my health and even changed my Doctors several times after they all started to tell me that it was because I was panicking so much that I wasn't getting better. I finally searched the internet and found Matula Tea. I am pleased to tell you that Matula has proved to be a real winner and it has given me back my health again. A month after I completed the treatment I did the H.pylori stool antigen test and it came back negative. I was so happy I couldn't believe it. So much so for the antibiotics and other drugs that simply didn't work. I feel duty bound to let other people know about Matula Tea and how it has worked for me. Take adrenal glandular and 10 mgs of iodine per day
- Sea Aloe Gold is good 3-6 a day
Digestive enzyme - BIO GEST or BILEX
Alkaline water - 1 glass water with 1/4 teaspoon sea salt - 8X day
Anti inflammatory - astaxanthin
6 months !!! it wont happen over night
if that dont work give mastic gum a try"

[WARNING!] 01/31/2008: Tony from NY, USA writes: "dear friends, STAY AWAY from matula tea which is sold in the internet. I bought it and when I got it brewed it for about 5 or so minutes. I took a FEW SIPS and minutes later became very ill, allergic reaction. Called 911 and ended in the Emergency Hospital. Be careful folks with some of the things you put in your body. Remember, be careful, as many of these people selling these remedies first objective is to make a buck."
Replies[WARNING!] 09/07/2008: Tony from NY, USA replies: "OK,
I did try matula tea, but as I stated above had a SEVERE allergic reaction to this dangerous tea and ended in the ER, and before, the people that sell it stated in their website that you get no allergic reaction from it, but they lied back then, and now, upon reviewing their website, they took out this false statement about the tea not causing an allergic reaction after it is consumed.
STAY AWAY from this tea.
The people who sell this tea are from South Africa and as you can see, many of the so called "Positive remarks" are people from South Africa....hmmm.....! I wonder if the folks that sale this tea are the very ones posting positive remarks, just to make a BUCK! For SHAME!!!
If you try it, you do so at your own risk! I say, try something else, save your money and DON'T BUY this deadly tea!"
11/23/2008: Niki from Las Vegas, NV USA replies: "I'm so sorry to hear of the allergic reaction. But I must say that there are many pharm. and/or OTC drugs out there that also cause allergic reactions. Obviously something in the Matula mix is allergenic for you. They (Matula) does not list out what the herbal mix includes, unfortunately. Perhaps they need to invest in a patent in order to do so. Anyway, I have been using the tea for less than a week and have noticed a bit of improvement with my severe acid reflux. My symptoms were in the areas of chronic cough, nausea and constant hunger. I had been taking only Prilosec (among other acid reflux meds)for some time since my doctors did not "find" the H. pylori bacteria. However, Prilosec often made me sick, I'm thinking due to my stomach being unable to digest the food properly because the acid content was being neutralized. I have spent many, many nights without sleep. Desperate to find an alternative to the synthetic approaches, I have been searching the internet for possible avenues to explore. Yes, the Matula formula is expensive when compared to a few packs of Prilosec, but not so expensive when compared to the constant doctor visits, endoscopy, and OTC drugs. I paid $159.00 plus $30.00 shipping for one month supply of Matula. I will continue to use the $6.33 cup of tea twice a day for the entire month. But one must not assume that simply taking the tea is the cure all. The website does give some directions in what dietary changes need to be made. This is very important for the success of the program. And the dietary changes need to be somewhat permanent. They also give you ebooks to read for additional information regarding the lifestyle and dietary changes. If you have tried everything else, then you know how desperate it feels to try to find anything that works, and you'll try everything. But also remember, clinical trials are never finished. Think of all the pharm drugs that have been put on the market only to be pulled due to some unforeseen (didn't show up in the clinical trials) complications. But how many of those companies reimburse you for the money spent to discover you can't take the drugs. Matula does guarantee their product (probably minus the $30 shipping), so if you experience a problem (not to discount the severe reaction mentioned), then return the product. But don't give up on searching for the one thing that does work for you. I have thrown away more drugs due to reactions (this includes supplements), but I know there is something out there for me. Perhaps Matula will be the one, maybe not. I'll let y'all know."
[YEA] 12/04/2008: Pettie from San Francisco, CA replies: "I had stomache pain for over 2 years. My doctor denied that I had the bacteria and didn't do the test. We did scat scan, MRI, X-Rays... He found nothing. Then I got Acid Reflux really bad. Took 2 Prevacid and 2 Carafat each day. A biopsy at an endoscopy found the bacteria in my stomache and barret syndrom 1st stage.I took the pills for 9 months and had a lot of side effects. A specialist told me,"millions of people live with this and take the pills every day. This is nothing." I started Matula Tea and had no side effects. After 2 weeks I reduces my medication, after 3 weeks I stopped taken it. I emailed Customer Service from Matula Tea some times and asked for advice. He told me to take other remedies with the tea.(Slippery Elm, L-Glutamin, Betain) It worked for me. I had an Endoscopy two months ago, my bacteria is gone, my barret syndrom is gone, as well as my acid reflux. If I will get acid reflux or the bacteria again, I will take the tea again."
10/26/2010: Alib from Swansea, Wales, Uk replies: "You have to be careful about condemning the product when you get a bad reaction - because the reaction may not have been to the tea itself but could have been the bugs reacting to it and throwing out some kind of toxin that your body reacted to. We assume when we get an 'allergic' reaction that it is to some kind of food, but is our body reacting to the food, or a toxin that is being produced by the microbes?
Some people need to start with a very small amount and gradually build up to the full dose. I have found this with other things - many react to things like eggs, or coconut oil when they first start a Candida diet, but by just starting with a teaspoon, or even half a teaspoon and gradually increasing it, eventually they are able to tolerate the full amount. It is not them reacting - but the Candida. Just to bear in mind too, that things like diarrhea, rashes, nausea and vomiting, etc. , are actually detox reactions and are not necessarily bad. Your body has to get rid of the microbes and other rubbish some way!"
[NAY] 10/26/2010: Tommy from North York, On, Canada replies: "Hi, I took the matula tea and it did nothing for me. I had a confirm case of H. Pylori. The tea seems strange because the ingredients are unknown. They could patented if it's truly get rid of H. Pylori but they didn't since 2006. I also contacted lady who tried the matula tea and she was still positive with H. Pylori. H. Pylori is a very difficult to treat bacteria. Because it buries itself into the lining of the stomach so deep that many antibiotics fail to get rid of it. The immune system cannot reach it because it's an infection in the stomach and they have to stay longer enough to kill the colonies. This seems to create an inflammation of the stomach which could cause gastritis, ulcers and stomach cancers. Add to that the bio film it makes. That will make H. Pylori infection 100 times resistant to antibiotics. Alot of research are done lately to determine the cause of the high failure treatment of H. Pylori with the PPI and 2 antibiotics. The H. Pylori failure treatments are due to so many causes which includes:
1-Its location in the stomach makes it hard to get rid of.2-The urease activity of H. Pylori which allows it to survive the stomach acid.
3-The multiresistance of H. Pylori to antibiotics like clarythromycine and Metronedazole.
4- reinfection that may occur due to the presence of H. Pylori in the tooth plaque and the tongue.
5-The biofim that protects H. Pylori and makes it resistant up to 100 times to any antibiotics.
6- The genetic makeup of the host and H. Pylori.
I don't believe in the matula tea. It's very expensive tea with unknown ingredients and so many people complains about the high failure rate using this tea. I wish the tea really works but this is far to be true. Here some remedies that MIGHT work against H. Pylori:
Mastic gum. Lauric acid. Sulforaphane. Quercetin. Allicin and garlic juice. Wassabia extract. L. Reuterin and L. Salivarius
The above remedies have some activities against H. Pylori but that doesn't mean they will heal the infection. They might reduce or kill some colonies. The only high rate treatment now is a deadly treatment with 3 antibiotics and an PPI. The treatment has 90% success rate. I hope that can help you some how."
10/11/2011: San from Modiin, Israel replies: "Did you get rid of helicobacter? My son has the bacteria and after 2 rounds of antibiotiocs, still has it. I want to try mastic gum. Do you have any idea where I can get it? We live in Israel too and so far I haven't been able to find it in the health stores."

It made me sick. Further, I have tried to email and contact the Matula Tea dealers/makers through "Super Natural Herbs" (http://www.super-natural-herbs.com) and Ulcer Cure (http://www.ulcer-cure.com/) - a complete waste of time: NO REPLY now that they have my money. Nice. Avoid Matula tea and buy yourself some Fennel tea if you're constipated, get some Aloe Juice if have gastritis, and stick diligently to the Manuka Honey and Mastic Gum if you have H Pylori!
By the way, I cured my H Pylori without antibiotics and note how on my blog:

ACV Months ago i started to feel very unwell and quite depressed had problems swallowing then the horrible chest pain. Went to see specialist who did an endoscopy and biopsy which showed gastritis and that i had H Pylori. Went on to triple therapy and also had to take 80mg omeprazole daily. Anyway finished the meds of in October 07. took months to feel better but eventually i did. Except for the acid reflux. I have no pain just the most horrendous taste in my mouth and a white tongue. I still have problems sleeping and ferel like my stomach is doing sommersaults and just as im about to drop of i jump as i seem to stop breathing. Anyway i found this site a while back and went out and bought ACV tablets. I was to afraid to try them as i had such bad experiences with the omeprazole. I waited til i saw the specialist and asked for his advise. He loked at me as if i was mad and put me back on omeprazole which he knew made me feel ill. Today is jan 1st 08 and i woke feeling dreadful, more through lack of sleep and i have decided to try the ACV today. Guess they cant kill me. I will write back and let you all know how i did on them and i hope i get the relief you all have had. happy new year x"
Replies08/07/2009: Janneg from Madison, Wi replies: "You poor thing. I know how you feel. I've been -----d over by doctors many a times. Find yourself a very experienced acupuncture doctor. Chinese Medicine is much more reliable than western if you have an experienced doctor. It's been used for over 5000 years. I know western medicine is all over the news and a very strong power in the world, but it is motivated by money, and is treated as a business. They keep you sick to keep you coming back. Start eating a lot of veggies. Eat some veggies with every meal, and try to eat more veggies than all other types of foods on your plate. moderate protein, some with each meal, but not more than the veggies. Have a piece of fruit with each meal. Look into what vitamins are in what foods, and make sure you are getting all necessary vitamins from your food. Absorption of nutrients is better when you get them from a food source, and there is varying info on how good taking vitamin supplements really is... some info says that it can actually be harmful. Eat some plain yogurt with live active cultures, or if you have difficulty with yogurt take some lactobacillus (live active cultures) with food in pill form. Various forms of lactobacillus are the good bacteria in your digestive tract. I've read that 80% of your immune system is in your digestive tract. When you take antibiotics it kills not only the bad bacteria in your stomach but the good bacteria as well. So basically it ----s up your immune system, and if you take too many antibiotics it really ----s up your immune system and you end up with an auto-immune disease, diabetes, or cancer. So if you ever feel like you have to take them (which to me is debatable except in extreme emergency situations) then supplement with eating lots of yogurt with live active cultures (make sure it says this on the container) or lactobacillus supplements. Some other things that encourage the growth of the good bacteria you have that I can name off the top of my head are sprouts, all forms of algae and micro algae, cranberries, greens, veggies. Variety of foods is always best. If someone tells you not to eat any of a certain food group.. tell them to ---- off.. Everything in moderation is best. And foods of all colors is a good idea. Broad spectrum of nutrients. Eating your fruit with your veggies is good. It helps you maintain a normal blood sugar. Eating just fruit alone can spike your blood sugar, and I believe that digestion, and absorption is best if you eat protein, veggies, and fruit at every meal, because often to absorb one nutrient you need another. This along with variety helps to ensure absorption, and digestion. I hope this helps you. Another good thing is steam bath. Take a hot bath and sit in it for about 15-20 minutes to sweat. It gets out toxins... do this especially if your tongue has a purple tint to it. Also, take it easy. Don't stress yourself out, don't get yourself too involved in other peoples problems.. It can wear on you, and really a person can only truly help themselves. And don't worry you'll get better. It's all about what you take in, and how you feel... eat good, and don't stress.. you'll get better. The body can take a ridiculous amount of abuse and still heal itself good as new... It's incredible and beautiful. Here's my advice. Take it or leave it."

I was recently retested again for h pylori and the results were "negative"
08/19/2009: Diane from Satellite Beach, Fl replies: "My body's never taken medications well, and I believe it's a result of having H. pylori for so long without being diagnosed. So I go the natural route. I do use ___ (mastic gum ) from a company in CA (I mention this because not all mastic gum is created equal) and also use their chewable wafer Mastic Gum. They said if not completely destroyed where it resides (sometimes in the mouth), the H. pylori does return. So it's good to stay on the oral ___ religiously for 30 days and also chew the Mastic Gum wafer to kill the H. pylori in the mouth. Also, just read about and started, with great success, 500 mg curcumin (tumeric), but it must be mixed with one teaspoon of Extra Virgin olive oil. You should add to this 500 mg hesperin and quercertin. The Extra Virgin is important. You take this on an empty stomach. I've switched to a gluten-free diet, with much success, which probably correlates to the others having success with omitting bleached flour from their diet. Hope this helps. It's helped me, but, then again, I don't like taking the meds from the docs. In my opinion, antibiotics are no friend to the intestines."

MULTIPLE REMEDIES

01/09/2012: Heloise from Detroit, Michigan writes: "Treatment options H. Pylori:
- In an attempt to clear the stomach of urea I spit out all saliva and mucous formation in my mouth. If and to what extent this reduces urea levels in the stomach is not certain.
H. pylori expresses the highest level of urease seen in bacteria. The urease activity was recognized as an important parameter enabling acid survival early on in reasearch on the gastric mechanisma of H. pylori.
Urea is a major end product of nitrogen metabolism by mammals. Diffusing from the blood through mucosal tissues and into the gastrointestinal tract. By metabolozing urea, H. Pylori is naturally acid resistant. When urea is added to H. Pylori cell suspensions at low pH values (down to 2.0), bacterial survival is enhanced 10^3 - 10^6-fold compared with that in suspensions without urea, and survival is associated with rapid alkalinization of the suspensions by urease.
- Drink liquorice tea (add 10 drops of H2O2 30% food grade solution)
- Chew mastic gum / eat mastic powder
- Increase stomach acidity with vitamin C
- Take aspirin (aspirin might increase the susceptibility of Helicobacter pylori to antimicrobials)
- Drink matula tea
- Take bismuth subgallate pills or pepto-bismol
- Eat broccoli sprouts or broccoli
We showed that H. Pylori can be eradicated from human gastric xenografts after short-term administration of sulforaphane at a dose (1.33 mg/day in each xenograft [volume, %u223C7 ml]; 0.19 mg/ml) that can be achieved in the human diet (100 mg/day [stomach volume, 0.5 to 1 liter]; 0.1 to 0.2 mg/liter). Thus, the administration of sulforaphane that can be safely delivered in the diet, particularly from broccoli sprouts, could be beneficial for the treatment of H. pylori-associated gastric diseases.
- Use antimicrobial herbs: Cayenne, Turmeric, Cumin
Herbal or naturalistic treatment of ulcers includes the use of cayenne pepper and licorice root, among other things. Since the population of Thailand has little or no Hpylori-caused stomach ulcers, this has lead to the belief that eating cayenne pepper is an effective H-pylori preventive. Thai children begin eating small amounts of cayenne pepper when very young and increase their intake as they age. Some studies say cayenne kills the bacteria and stimulates mucous lining development in the stomach and intestine."

Conclusion of a study by W. H. Wang e. A. (doi:10.1136/gut.52.4.490): Aspirin inhibited the growth of H pylori, suppressed the mutagenic effect of metronidazole, and enhanced the susceptibility of H pylori to antimicrobial agents.

Be careful with the dosage: A study by E. S. Huang e. A. (doi:10.1016/j.amjmed.2010.12.022) concludes: Regular aspirin use is associated with gastrointestinal bleeding. Risk seems more strongly related to dose than duration of aspirin use. Efforts to minimize adverse effects of aspirin therapy should emphasize using the lowest effective dose among both short- and long-term users.

The double-blind, randomized placebo-controlled trial study by Lian Zang e. A. (DOI: 10.1111/j.1523-5378.2005.00301.x) into the efficacy of cranberry juice on Helicobacter pylori infection concluded:
- Drink cranberry juice
Regular consumption of cranberry juice can suppress H. pylori infection in endemically afflicted populations.
A study by Paolo Ruggiero e. A. "To investigate whether red wine and green tea could exert anti-H pylori or anti-VacA (VacA is a pore-forming toxin produced by H. Pylori) activity in vivo in a mouse model of experimental infection" (ISSN 1007-9327 CN 14-1219/R):
- Take red wine and green tea
Red wine and green tea are able to prevent H pylori-induced gastric epithelium damage, possibly involving VacA inhibition. This observation supports the possible relevance of diet on the pathological outcome of H pylori infection.
Conclusion of a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial by B. May e. A. (DOI: 10.1046/j.1365-2036.2003.01522.x) "to assess the efficacy and safety of enteric coated capsules containing a fixed combination of 90 mg peppermint oil and 50 mg caraway oil (PCC; Enteroplant) in patients with functional dyspepsia.":
- Drink peppermint tea to treat dyspepsia
These results demonstrate the good tolerability and the favourable risk-benefit ratio of PCC for the treatment of functional dyspepsia. And another study by B. May concludes "In our trial, however, H. pylori-positive patients given PCC showed a substantially better treatment response, and there were no interpretable differences in treatment outcome between the two sub-groups given placebo."
Try to incorporate as many of available treatments as you can into your daily diet to improve the long-term outcome of H. pylori infection.
When I feel my stomach burning or stinging in the night I take vitamin C to increase acidity which seems to stop the pain by killing the bacterium. I also take aspirin which might improve the susceptibility to various treatments. Cranberry juice, red wine, peppermint- and liquorice tea also seem to improve the treatment."

11/19/2010: Connie from Slc, Ut writes: "H. Pylori bacteria is well adapted to survive the acidic environment of the stomach long enough to burrow into the lining, settle, and colonize. (sometimes 20 minutes) It appears to survive a PH between approx. 3.5 and 7.5. Above 7.5, it cannot replicate. It is mutating to better withstand more acidity. It chooses tissue in areas of more neutral PH in the stomach lining, burrows, and secretes the enzyme urease to decompose tissue, creating an alkaline "ammonia cloud" to protect itself. This caustic ammonia along with other wastes irritate the lining cells, causing inflammation that stimulates the stomach to produce the hormone gastrin which then stimulates parietal cells to secrete more acid in the stomach. This pernicious circle of extremes can eventually result with an exhausted, atrophied stomach that can hardly produce acid any more. Many researchers think that it is a weakened mucous membrane of the stomach that allows the H. Pylori to attach itself in the first place. It looks like strengthening the mucous membrane is a good place to begin healing. Most researchers believe that H. Pylori must be completely eradicated. A few do not.
Here are some herbal protocols for treatment of ulcers and H. Pylori. Each contains Goldenseal. The Herbalist Paul Bergner has written, to the effect, that although Goldenseal has mild antibiotic properties, (alkaloids such as berberine, etc. ), Its most powerful effect is that of flushing the mucous membranes. But he also warns that it should not be given in high doses, because it can exhaust the mucous glands, over inhibit inflammitory response, and weaken the digestive system.
Dr. Frank Robert's formula for ulcers: 1 part Goldenseal, 1 part echinacea, 1 part marshmallow root, 1 part poke root, 1 part spotted cranesbill, (geranium maculatum)(2 parts if bleeding). For pain, add okra and or slippery elm. Mix powder and put in 00 capsules, 2 caps 4x daily. (There are readymades available on internet. ) Bastyr formula: Goldenseal root 1 part, Marshmallow root 1 part, Geranium Maculatum 1 part, Ginger root 1 part, Baptisia tintoria (wild indigo) 1 part, duodinal substance 1 part, Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) 1 part, okra 1part, slippery elm 1 part. 2 00 caps 4x daily. (also available online).
Researchers also recommend broccoli sprouts and cabbage, (l-glutamine, sulfur, and mucin). Garlic, Licorice, Zinc, pancreatin (without calcium type), L-Glutamine, and L-threonine (for production of mucin). My neighbor was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer 60 yrs. Ago. His father treated him with 2-3 caps Goldenseal 1x daily and 1 Tbl. ACV with 1 TBL. BSM mixed in cup of warm water. He continued this for 6 mnths until next xray revealed no ulcer. I hope this information is useful. Thanks Y'all, Connie"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 01/11/2010: Jason from Socal, Ca writes: "Several months ago, I became seriously ill. My stomach was upset at all times, leading to vomiting and diarrhea some of those times. It was determined that I had an h. pylori infection. Now, I have a general mistrust of doctors. They seem to know a lot about pills and surgery but very little about achieving and maintaining health without surgery or hard medicine. For this reason, the common proton pump inhibitor/antibiotic method was not appealing to me.
It has now been one week since I began my own remedies, and I am feeling better than I have in some time. I am sharing my daily regimen, so the work put in will help someone else.
Every day I drink apple cider vinegar. 2 teaspoons mixed with 8 ounces of water 2-3 times daily. In addition, I take 4000 mg's of coconut milk in pill form. I also take 2 DGL pills every day, and finally probiotics, 50 billion cfu's with live cultures. It is very important to ensure that you are guaranteed live organisms no matter what brand you buy. Also, please make sure that you buy the apple cider vinegar that is brown with "cobwebs" floating inside. The cobwebs are enzymes and called "mother". The clear apple cider vinegar without mother, has next to no health benefits. Okay, that's it. Again, this regimen has helped me feel better in about a week. I am still not 100%, but I will update all of you on my progress, and any changes to this regime."

Replies04/07/2009: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hello Rosanne,
I got rid of most all of my GI tract problems years before orthodox medicine decided they were caused by H pylori. I did it by eliminating bleached flour from my diet after I stumbled on the fact that it was the cause of all the almost constant heartburn, acid regurge, nausea, constipation and the peptic ulcers that occurred 3 to 5 times 3 to 5 times per year. However I also have to avoid any thing acid in a metal can (citrus juices, tomatoes, etc). Don't know what is used in the bleaching process that keeps the stomach in a chronic upset state, but life sure is more pleasant when you eliminate it. Of course the increased fiber in the whole grain breads & cereals is probably the major factor in getting rid of the constipation."

I am reluctant at this point, however, to go back and get tested because the outcome is a fairly awful regimen of antibiotics and all sorts of other stuff. I do get tested afterwards and am negative, but I am wondering if I am just knocking the H. pylori down to a level that is below the threshold of detection. This regimen of medicines usually feels worse than the H. pylori symptoms, and help for awhile, but it always comes back. Does anyone else have this history of repeated outbreaks? I have also tried ACV or baking soda, because it seems like I have widely varying pH levels in my system, not just a basic or acidic system. I can usually tell which one I need- ACV when it feels like I am not digesting well, and baking soda when I have bad gas. I also reduce the amount of protein in my diet because I find it hard to digest, and as I get more symptomatic, I eat less and less in general and only mild stuff."

Can't swear it will work for you and it won't be easy to try it because you really have to use your brain to eliminate bleached flour from your foods. Life has been a whole lot more fun since I got bleached flour out of my life. Cayenne pepper doesn't bother your stomach - matter of fact it stimulates your stomach to produce more protective mucus. Before the medical field jumped onto H pylori as the cause, they had decided that their Sippy and bland diets for patients with ulcers did more harm than good. I find that my stomach and entire digestive system also does not like any acid food from a metal can (all citrus & tomato juices included). Otherwise, just about anything is allowable in my foods ingested.
If you decide to try eliminating bleached flour, remember that most commercial soups, sauces, gravy's, noodle soups are going to be made with bleached flour because it is the cheapest way to thicken their products. Usually you can rely on Pepperidge Farms products to be unbleached, but not always. Once I even found a loaf of Earthgrain bread with some bleached flour listed in the ingredients. I now don't trust any of them. Also don't forget to read ingredients listed on all foods, including those bought in the health food stores, because you will find a lot of things there with bleached flour, MSG and aspartame."
