[YEA] 07/10/2008: Jill from Sydney, Australia writes: "I have had a few severe bouts of what was diagnosed as tennis and golfers elbow. After many weeks, my qulaiity of life destroyed and trying all the remdies of straps and ice and rest and even accupuncture I finally had to have cortisone injestion. This time round I decided to try 'Applied Kinesiology'. The diagnosis is believed to be gout. I was prescibed 1/4 Bi-Carbonate Soda [Baking Soda] in a small amount of cold water three times daily and 1/4 teaspoon liquid zinc twice daily. After 48 hours I definately have relief. I wondered if anyone has had experienced gout in an elbow. By the way the kinesiologist said "definately no AppleCider Vinegar"."

BLACK BEAN BROTH

[YEA] 01/24/2009: Andrew from Singapore writes: "I notice that Black Beans has not been included in the list of remedies under the subject "Cure Gout", although it is included under "Remedies - Black Bean Broth"
I have personally used Black Beans to cure/relief my gout pains and with fantastic results, which are fast and long lasting. I have also recommended it to relatives who suffered from severe gout pains. Those who tried it can attest to its efficacy. Nonetheless, we must also be mindful of taking less of those purine rich food that cause gout.
Many people may have resevations about black beans because bean are know to cause gout. It is the skin or hull of the black beans which contains a very high level of anthocyanins that is effective in ridding gout pains.
As I am writing this, I have just cured myself of a bout of gout attack which recurred because I did not have gout pain for a long time and I simple became complacent and indulged myself in lots of red meat and purine rich food. After taking black bean broth the pain went off as fast as it came - like magic!.
Besides being a good cure for gout,
the skin of black beans are loaded with antioxidant compounds, which when taken regularly have also been shown to offer protection against heart disease, cancer and aging.
For more detailed information about black beans go to the link below:

EC: Actually, "black bean broth" is also listed in the gout page!

[YEA] 09/18/2008: Alice from New Orleans, LA writes: "I love your site. Bless you for having it. After reading just about all the suggestions I have been eating blackbeans that I cook from dry and freeze in small containers about a cup or so. Whenever I feel a gout attack coming on I just thaw out a small amount and eat. I don't even put anything in the blackbeans like seasoning or stuff. It seems to work for me.It is kinda amazing. I also have been doing the ACV and also the pectin capsules (and they are cheap). All these things I learned from your site. It has been about 8 months now since I stumbled upon your site. I thank you sooo much. I hope this will help someone else. I also stay away from certain foods- I have an inkling it might be mercury that activates it so I do not eat anything with spirillina which is in a lot of health foods, I think it caused one of the worst flare ups I ever had, and tuna, salmon or other fish that might contain mercury. I do eat fish though like trout, catfish and yes oysters. And I drink coffee like crazy but only black coffee. I do one thing that I haven't read on your site and that is vitimins from New Chapter called Zyflamend-they are kinda expensive-$22 or so and I'll only take them when I feel an attack coming on. They may or may not help because it might be the ACV, pectin capsules (3-6 a day) and my blackbeans that are working. I am just making sure that if they are working I do not want to not take them. I eat cherrys but don't really seem to benefit from them. Can I thank you one more time for your website. Thanks and I would like to thank the wonderful person that wrote about the blackbeans."

[NAY] 03/11/2008: Arlene from Toronto, Canada writes: "Hi, Firstly I wanted to express my gratitude for this website, it's fantastic! I just discovered it and am eagerly trying many of the remedies for weight loss and my father's gout. I was excited to read the information about the black bean 'juice' and quickly made a batch for my father as he has been suffering from gout on and off for about 2 months. The day after I made the concoction, he came down with gout. We promptly tried the remedy, infact I had him drink 2 glasses, and unfortunately today it has worsened and swelled up. I feel terrible. Reading about ACV, I will TRY to get him to take some w/ honey - unfortunately I think that his trust in me has probably deteriorated - rightly so I guess. But I'll keep you posted. Also, can you give me any other information as to what foods may cause gout, I've checked so many websites and composed a list for my father - who is avoiding the foods as best as he can, but the gout still comes back on the weekly basis."
Replies04/12/2011: Gout Aware from Sydney, Australia replies: "Hi there, I just read about your fathers gout getting worse after taking black bean broth or soup. That could be due to the fact that black bean contains anthocyanins which also contain flavonoids. When the body breaks down flavonoids it produces uric acid. This is the enemy of gout."

[YEA] 02/15/2008: Tay from Singapore writes: "My hubby got a serious gout attack recently. For the 1st time, he actually felt the throubing pain near the spin area. He though he has developed kidney stone and was worried. Swell subsequently developed at his toe and reaslied that it is another gout attack. Went thru the net for some remedies and chance upon this web site. It is hard to get cherries in Singapore and it is really expensive as well. Tried the black bean soup and the swell did went off very quickly. The next day, the swell was gone and walking was an ease. Hubby also drank 2 glasses of ACV with honey twice each day( morning and night) and the attack did not relapse. He was able to exercise after 3 days. During the same period, he did eat some protein rich food and the attack also never relapse. This is unlike previously when he was down with gout attack. For the previous attacks, he need to keep to a protein free diet even with medication. He takes a long time of more than 2 weeks to recover even with injection and pills. ' Now he is drinking ACV faithfully for preventive and packets of black bean are in our kitchen for any emergency.Hope this is useful for the sufferers out there"

[YEA] 08/14/2007: Siong from Singapore, Singapore writes: "Black bean broth helps speed clearing up pain due to gout. When I was a kid I often heard that black beans cooked with pork bones help strengthen the legs. But fearing that black beans will aggravate gout, I avoided black beans. Dennis's article convinced me to try black bean broth discarding the beans. Now I drink it as coffee or tea and make a black bean drink at night when I want to. The flavor and taste is great. Adjust your preference - 2 handfuls of beans for 1 cup(300ml)"

[YEA] 05/29/2007: Denis from Luo Dong Township, Taiwan writes: "I get really severe gout attacks sometimes, usually in my knees, but at times I can even feel the uric acid crystals forming in my finger joints, wrists or elbows! I know that cherry juice, blueberry juice, pomegranate juice, etc (which all contain anthocyanins) can eliminate uric acid from the blood and is much more effective than colchicine which merely stops the production of more uric acid in the liver. But colchicine is also very damaging to the liver, and liver damage is the origin of gout in the first place in many people (or kidney damage in others). After moving here to Taiwan, the manager of a school I was teaching in informed me about black bean broth. Unlike the various juices mentioned above, black beans are CHEAP and are easy to find in local markets and to keep around the house. A close look at the black bean broth shows that the black color is really a dark red. Yes, black beans contain anthocyanins, that group of pigments which range in color from blue to red to almost black. In an emergency, you throw a cup of black beans in a pot of water and boil it and as soon as the water color turns dark, you can get some broth, cool it and drink it. This remedy takes only a few hours to eliminate the crystals from the joints, but the damage to the joints may take up to two days to heal. It is good to prepare some of this amazing healing remedy and freeze it in case of a sudden gout attack."

[YEA] 05/22/2006: Marie from Ontario writes: "Blueberry and pomegranate juice cured gout in my big toe and thumb. I'm only 34 years old, and it seems in my case, stress may have brought on an attack. My doctor prescribed indacide. I took on pill and took a very severe reaction. I started looking on line for a natural remedy. Tried blueberry juice and lots of water. So far, so good. It's been 4 days of pain, and today, being the second day of the blueberry pomegranate juice, I can walk on my foot again."

[YEA] 10/05/2007: Ash from Lyons, Colorado USA writes: "Hello,
Just wanted to share my Gout cure with anyone who could benefit. First, I have tried EVERYTHING for years and a have truly found a regimen that not only cures accute attacks, but has prevented additional attacks for the past two plus years.
1. Bromelain: Daily dose of 4 X 500mgs @ 1000 GDU's per 500 mg. For accuet attacks, 10 X 500 mg. capsule.
2. Water. At least .75 gallons per day.
3. Omega 3.6.9 blend: 4-7 capsules per day.
4. Coffee: Yes...it sweeps away Uric Acid, no kidding.
I no longer have to be obsessive about what I eat, though I do avoid most red meat and only have beer one in a while. I am a 36 year old, athletic male with a family history of gout, and first got it at age 32.
This really works, better than ACV/cherries, or what3ever. Bromelain is the dominant player in this regimen. It is amazing. Hope this helps!
Best,"

[YEA] 05/26/2009: Ken from Seal Beach, CA writes: "I'm 70 year old and suffered from occasional severe gout attacks. Someone told me to try celery seed but we didn't have any so I tried regular celery but without success. My wife picked up a bottle of celery seed and I started putting a 1/2 teaspoon on my salad everyday and if we didn't have salad for dinner, I put it in a small glass of vegetable juice. I started doing that last August and have not had an attack since then. The good thing is that I'm eating and drinking whatever I want without worrying about any of the symptoms that are experienced with some food and drink. Celery seed is available at the grocery store near the spice area and if you try it and it works for you, check in the big box stores where you can get a large bottle at a considerably lower price and it lasts for a long time. I don't know of any side effects and haven't experienced any."

[YEA] 06/14/2010: Pat from Athens, Al, Usa writes: "My Dad and Husband were both over-the-road truck drivers, and both suffered/suffer with gout in their left foot (the one requires for all the shifting of an 18 wheeler). My Dad heard about cherries. Both Dad & Hubby now are retired and still have gout flare ups. Both now reach for a can of canned water packed tart red cherries (not pie filling), available in the canned fruit section of most grocery stores. Within hours both my Dad & Hubby have the same results - the gout flare up completely subsides. I vouch for the cherry cure. Only one time did it ever take 2 cans of cherries for my husband."

[YEA] 01/09/2009: MSL from Thousand Oaks, CA writes: "I have had continues gout flair ups for over 15 years in my feet, knees, hands and wrists... I have taken all the medications available with no relief. I cut out all red meet, shell fish, wines and still had major flair ups. It was getting so frustrating. I come to find out my flair ups are from sugar I tracked what I ate for about a month and a half and my flair ups are from sugar I was consuming. I was taking cherry juice concentrate yet it had sugar so I did not see great results. I typed in gout in the search box in this online vitamin store I have been buying products from.. The results came up Tart Cherry Extract in a capsule form, WOW it worked. The bottle said to take 1 per day but I took 4 - 4 times per day (DO NOT do what I did unless you talk to your doctor) I have never felt better."

Replies[NAY] 06/06/2010: Ramkumarvt from Tvm, Kerala, India replies: "Im 32, I had my first gout attack abt 5-6 years back, but after diagnosis , it was found that I had higher Uric acid content in my blood. So i took Uric acid suppressant tablets and after it went, i completly forgot about gout and now from last 2 months iam getting continuos attacks of gout. Mostly starts with at right ankle and spreads to the whole feet swelling and deep pain. I visited the doc again and he gave a 4-5 tablets and told me to take the Uric acid depressant. It was gone in 4 days. Now the doctor asked me to control my diet. Now i take very limited protein rich food like pulses. Now i reduced taking Non veg to once a week and that too very small quantity.
But the attack keeps coming back again and again. I cant excercise regularly and for the 4-5 days im like a disabled person.
I started taking cherries since last two weeks but now the attack has come again.
Now im planning to take apple cider vinegar and cherry.
Some one please tell how ACV, Cherrys are supposed to be used on a daily basis. Please help. Thanks Ram"

The cherries were out of season so I went to the health food store and bought black cherry concentrate. I used it for a few days (I did not mix with water, just took a tblsp twice a day and drank water with it). My gout disappeared. Recently, I had a problem again and I couldn't find any dark cherries in season, so I ate dried cherries and they also worked well."

[YEA] 04/24/2006: Joe from Dublin, OH writes: "I had gout for many years with attacks starting once per year and increase in about 10 years to 4-5 times per year. Dr. prescribed the std. Colchicine and Alpurinol but but the end this was no longer curing the pain or swelling but I did get the "fun" side effects of diarrhea from the cholchicine. I read some articles about Cherries and wanted to find a good source since they are not always in season and the extract is horrendous. In a vitamin store I have found Black Cherry Pills. I take 2 per day. If I start getting the early signs, I increase the does to 4-6 per day. This has made me gout free for about 3 years, Until this weekend when I had my first attack in a long time (week in Hilton head with alot of drinking and grilling out so it is my own fault). I actually found some 5 year old Cholchicine and took that (no help), started taking 10 per day of the Black Cherry pills per day and it is getting better but not out of the woods yet. The Black Cherry Pills definitely helped me."
