QUESTIONS ON CHARCOAL USE FOR GAS
02/27/2012: Jen from Arlington, Virginia: "I have had getting bad gas from eating garlic and although I try to eliminate it from my diet, there are so many prepared foods that already contain it. I would rather not give garlic up entirely, but instead find a way to stop the foul odor from occuring. I have tried Beano and some other natural remedies, but they don't really seem to be working. I have been reading about the uses of charcoal and think this may be something great to try. My main concern, however, is that I heard taking charcoal may affect the strength of your medicine. Is this the case if I am taking a birth control? A surprise pregnancy would not be worth the risk! Does anyone know if the time of day you are taking the charcoal and medicine is important and how much does charcoal decrease the efficacy of your medicine?"

WHAT IS THE REASON FOR MY CONTINUOUS BURPING?
02/02/2012: Amul from Chicago, Illinois, Usa: "Hi Ted, I have been suffering from continuous burping for last 6-7 years. Recently it is getting worse and I also feel some kind of discomfort in sternum too. After I eat or drink, I get burps immediately, and also always feel like my stomach is full of gas. Even if I drink a sip of water, I immediately get the burp. Looks like my stomach is always filled with air. So, three four months before, I have seen the doctor. I was asked to take antacids, which did not work. Then, my H. Pylori test was positive and I was asked to take antibiotics. I first thought, my acidity and burping will go away, after I take the antibiotics, but did not happen that way. I took all these medications, but nothing helped.
Could you please tell me the reason why I get so many burps. Is it really a acidity or I may have some other digestive issue, which makes a lot of gas in stomach. Moreover, I do not have constipation or diarrhea. Could you please advice me the home remedy which may help me control this.
Thanks! Amul"
02/26/2012: Lou from Tyler, Tx replies: "Have you ever tried Mastic Gum? It comes in a capsule. Great for digestive problems. Not sure if it will help burping, I found relief with it."
02/27/2012: Trudy from Beaverton, Michigan USA replies: "Hello there, If you follow eastern accupoints, etc. it seems that burping is caused by gallbladder congestion."

ANYONE EXPERIENCE LIGHTHEADEDNESS DUE TO GAS?
01/28/2012: Rich from San Diego, Ca, Usa: "Its interesting to read about these home cures for gas. I have been suffering with bouts of lightheadedness for years. I had the impression that I had hypoglycemia for years but it was recently proven that this is not true.
I've noticed that the lightheadedness seems to come and go based on gas in my stomach and when I belch or relieve gas in any way, I return to feeling normal. Has anyone experienced this from gas problems?"

GINGER CURE FOR LEAKY GAS ISSUE
10/16/2011: Anonymous from Anonymous: "Ted, I have IBS-C, SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth), and Leaky Gas. I am currently on a Gluten/Lactose Free/ FODMAP Diet. By the way, I'm on week one of this diet. Also, I use a probiotic, digestive enzymes, liquid chlorophyl, B Complex, and occasionally magnesium citrate. Also I use Lorazapam for anxiety.
I've gone to the doctor and they prescribed an antibiotic but it made my condition worse. Then I was prescribed an anxiety medication (Lorazapam) and they recommended Gas-X (which doesn't work for me). Then on my third meeting with my doctor, she said there isn't much they can do.
My number 1 issue is the Leaky Gas. The gas just leaks out and at times it's excessive. Usually it's at it's worse at night and in the morning. It's so bad that none of my neighbors like me. By the way, I do kegels, I drink plenty of water, and I try to get at least 20 grams of fiber. I've taken out beans, broccoli, and other foods that are famous to produce gas, and I don't chew gum and I avoid sweets. Also I've done most of the gas remedies on Earth Clinic with limited success. What do you recommend to do?"
10/18/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The best remedy for gas is ginger root extract, although ginger tea or ginger powder is fine. This will remove those gases from the stomach. If that doesn't help, you may limit bacterial growth with mannito added to the ginger tea (without sugar) or ginger supplement as this will prevent bacteria from sticking to the intestinal wall so they don't ferment harmful chemicals. And you can add on top of that oat bran everyday. The best is actually prebiotic, not probiotic, which means adding leeks, garlic, onion to the diet to have a normal intestinal flora, and alkalized which means 30 minutes after a meal you take say 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda at dinner and lunch for example. I have taken an interest in ginger because they limit lipid peroxidation, which doesn't mean much to most people but it means a great deal to me as it prevents artheriosclerosis, liver toxicity from oxidative chemicals and restores normal intestinal flora, and perhaps sleep.Ted"

EXCESSIVE GAS, NOW CRAMPS, RACING HEART, H. PYLORI
05/02/2011: Anon : "Hello Ted,
I have been reading your posts on earthclinic.com and need some help. I will try to keep my story as brief as possible. I have always had an issue with excess gas. I started getting lower abdomen cramps two years ago with the occasional blood in my stool, diarrhea, and constipation. I started to take probiotics which seemed to help for a while, but did not eliminate the problem. After taking a stool test that came back positive, my doctor stated I could have Colitis or Chron's. He encouraged me to continue to take probiotics and improve my diet. i followed his advice and started to regulate my diet and become more active going to the gym 3 times a week. The results where positive and noticed every time I finished working out my stomach felt better. Out of no where one day I had experienced a racing heart. The next day I had a racing heart and severe acid reflux. Following my Dr's advice I took Prilosec which helped but not completely. I then started my journey on internet to find natural cures for my problems. I suggested to my Dr. I get tested for h pylori after reading posts from other people with the same symptoms I had. I test positive and was put on Triple Therapy treatment from my Dr. I got a little better but still had issues with reflux and heart palpitations. I started to take some ACV in water for a week and my acid reflux was relieved. I still felt some burning in my stomach upper stomach under ribs. I then started to take Mastic Gum for two weeks straight. At this point I felt alot better with minor burning in my stomach. I started to see a Holistic Dr who prescribed some supplements some that help and some that did not.I I then started to feel symptoms of a hiatal hernia. The hernia got better with some help of digestive bitters and probiotics. I still feel like I have minor one still. I felt really good and started to introduce more foods into my diet. Last week I experienced a day of black tarry stool with blood. The next day I started to experience the same burning in my upper stomach. I started taking mastic gum again as I believe the H Pylori and possible stomach ulcer was never fully healed. I also began your alkalizing remdy of lemon and baking soda in water and after 3 days feel much better with a little burning here and there.
My Questions for you are:
Should I continue to take the mastic gum for a month combined with the Lemon baking soda in water? or try something else?
I feel a burning sensation and pressure in my chest left side with some heart palpitations here and there. What is causing this burning and pressure in the chest and heart palpitations? What is the best way to resolve this?
Do you suggest I take Zinc and Magnesium Citrate to resolve the chest and heart palpitation problems?
Your help would be greatly appreciated as I am desperate to heal myself. Thank you for your time and patience."
05/27/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "You can combine mastic gum with lemon juice and baking soda. The burning pain or acid reflux is best helped with humic acid just 1/16 teaspoon taken before sleep. The other problem is digestive enzyme during eating will help with acid reflux. I believe heart palpitations is magnesium deficiency.
Zinc may have favorable effect on Crohn's and Interstitial colitis. Magnesium particularly has favorable effect on that, plus heart palpitations.
Crohn's and Interstital colitis responds well to aloe vera oil and humic acid. It also responds well to chlorine, such as sodium chlorite 25% (a.k.a. MMS) or sodium hypochlorite 10%. You only need a drop of two of that and do enema is best, but also sometimes responds to taken orally. But very few like that as it causes nausea. You cannot mix humic acid with any chlorine (MMS or sodium hypochlorite).
As to probiotics, continue with that, but I must warn you, people with interstital colitis and Crohn's disease their urinary pH are very acid, which is the reason they got it. It helps by taking baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon in a glass of water, after meal and one before sleep. The baking soda will normalize your intestinal flora so that you don't end up taking probiotics for the rest of your life.
One more thing, take B50 (B1,B2, B3, B5 ...B12) once a day briefly such as a week or two will help restore normal digestive enzymes and get you back to normal in terms of acid reflux too. I had one case of acid reflux which was help with 1/8 teaspoon of humic acid powder. Fulvic acid may also help, but that's just to restore immune response to normal, mostly.
Ted"
08/07/2011: Andrea C from Cardiff, Wales replies: "SIR TED, IN YOR 0PINION, DO U THINK THERE MAY B A LINK BETWEEN HP HERPIES? I ASK THIS B CO Z I HAVE NOTICED A LOT OF FOLKS DIOGNOSED WITH H-PYLORIA ALSO SUFFER WITH H-PYLORIA ALSO TEND 2 HAVE HPV 1 2 as well, DO U HAVE N E OPINION ON THIS? OR D0SE N E 1 ELSE HAVE N E NOTES ON THIS? LOVE ANDREA C X X X"
08/19/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Andrea,HPV and H. Pylori are related as the HPV weakened immune system and that causes H. Pylori to act up. Avoid sugar, take digestive enzymes with every meals will help. If you can get a little humic acid will relieve some excessive gas. The charcoal will help too, but watch out for constipation. Racing heart, could be other conditions such as cardiovascular problems (high cholesterol), but it will be helped by taking magnesium.
Ted"
11/15/2011: Lou from Tyler, Tx, Usa replies: "I have some problems with my stomach bloating out and pain. I take magnesium and potassium and some Lecithin and that seems to ease it off. This seems to calm down the heart. My mother's first heart attack was caused due to a lack of potassium."
11/16/2011: Jessica from Ridgecrest, Ca replies: "Wow... I'd take more magnesium if I were you. I take about 2400 mg a day. I tell people to take a little more each day until it gives you diarrhea, then cut back that one dose. If you are not getting diarrhea, then your body is using it. Also, try adding potassium and calcium. They all work together for cramps."
12/02/2011: Jen from Bozeman, Mt, Us replies: "Magnesium and potassium together will help the heart palpitations. I drink 1 coconut water when I feel my heart palpitating and it goes away. There is almost twice as much potassium in one coconut water as 1 banana. Supplemental potassium is so minuscule that you would have to take about 5 to 10 pills to get as much as you need when heart palps start. Magnesium is the gate keeper to let potassium into your cells so you should take it if you have potassium deficiency issues."
