Christine O from Maricopa, Az writes: "Hi, love this site, fascinating to read.. You are a God Send.

Had kidney stone attack, fifth one in 4 years. Try to dissolve stone naturally with lemon juice and apple cider vinegar, did for week and a half, still not passed. Got some kidney stone pills at health food store, did and got relief a week or so later.

Decided to go on alkaline diet, Mornings I have a three fruit smoothie, lunch is basically vegetables and maybe cucumbers and celery and hummus. Cut out all gluten products and sugar.

Eat hardly any meat or dairy, maybe some goat milk cheese on the salad. Lost weight, but the bloating in my stomach has come back the last few days. Started on some Unsulfured organic blackstrap molassed a few days back, was hoping to get more calcium into me without eating dairy. Could that be the culprit? Also started eating bananas in my smoothies in the morning. I have had a bloated stomach since I was 17, I am 58 now.

I also do proper food combining now, but I am still bloating, do you have any suggestions? I have been following diet tips from a nutritionist from Africa who advocates eating lots of fruits, just make sure you eat with nothing else. You mentioned in one of your replies you did not believe we were made to eat fruit, because body can't handle all fructose, so I am really confused. I would love to hear any suggestions, this belly bloat is driving me nuts, I really thought eating this healthy would take care of it. God Bless

Beryl from London, England writes: "Hi

I would appreciate some help with the health problems I am currently experiencing. Years ago I gave birth to two children. They were both delivered by caesarian section. After the births I began experiencing a lot of trapped wind which I would get rid of my stretching and twisting and burping. This would sometimes go on for half an hour or so. Sometimes it would take being sick to get rid of it. Then for a number of years it ceased to be a problem.

Approximately three years ago I woke up in the middle of the night with the most horrendous vertigo and vomiting. I was finally retching and bringing nothing up. The doctor was called and he diagnosed labrinthytis. After this my confidence just went. I was so dizzy upon rising and when walking I would keel over without clinging onto the furniture. I saw a chiropractor for six months for twice a week therapy, and this helped a little. But the vertigo has persisted. I've had tests done at the hospital, and they could not give me a definitive answer. Even an MRI scan. Some suggestions are BPPV and that the bones at the top of my spine are closing together. But I feel that it is to some degree linked to stomach problems, but when I mention it to the doctors they discount the suggestion. One doctor did concede that I could have lesions from the caesarian operations.

Many mornings I get up feeling very dizzy and wanting to keel over. This morning was a particularly bad one. So I started stretching and massaging my stomach and belched for over an hour, and began to feel better. But why is all this gas occurring? I do have a very healthy diet. I eat a lot of fish and loads of vegetables, but it seems to happen whatever I eat. And my diet does vary from time to time. I've tried cutting out bread, because I sometimes feel that I am allergic to it, but my problems still persist.

I would appreciate any help.

Best wishes

[YEA] Katherine from Seattle, Wa, Usa writes: "Last night, my brother cooked for me. I drank a little bit of ACV afterwards because I could feel my stomach going funny. Unfortunately, the ACV did not prevent gas. I have no idea what in the meal caused it, but it was quite literally painful. I tried to sleep about an hour after eating and I couldn't because I kept having horrible pains.

Fennel tea, HALLELUJAH!

I just pounded about a teaspoon of the seeds in my morter & pestle, put that into a tea and and poured over freshly boiled water. I also added a tiny tiny bit of honey for sweetness. This actually tasted pretty good, and I could not believe what an immediate affect it had!

I paced my room while drinking it, and while I burped once (the gas was still early in the digestive system), I don't think that got rid of it all. So, I would say that somehow the fennel neutralized the gas. I don't know how it worked, but I had been trying to sleep for like an hour, then after drinking this, managed to fall asleep within about 15 minutes.

I am sooooooooooo thankful. I did wake up later, but when I woke up, I had no pain whatsoever.

My point is, I definitely recommend this!!!

[YEA] Pearl from Zanesville, Ohio writes: "I searched out this website by googling gas in upper back.

I ate spaghetti with tomato sauce two days in a row and both times I got sever pains in my upper back and I remember my mom and sister talking about gas in the back years ago, so right away I knew what was happening, I tried stretching and laying on objects to move the pain, and it helped for a second but the pain came right back. I decided to put 1 tsp of baking soda in an 8oz glass of warm water and it helped me to burp and it immediately took the pain away.

It is a miracle and I will make sure I always have it in my refrigerator. I use Apple Cider vinegar in some of my recipes and have always heard it is a good remedy for different ailments so I will start drinking it as needed after this last episode.

Thanks for all the information from this site. Natural is the way. Thanks so much!

Suzieq from Minneapolis, Mn writes: "I have read through many of the posts here and I highly recommend using a 1/4 tsp. of baking soda in a glass of water for indigestion or gas. It works, period.

If you have a problem with sodium, you'll need to take that into consideration. This old remedy has been used for centuries and it works for me for either acid reflux, gas, or indigestion. I only use this once in a while, and you should not depend on this as an everyday routine from my perspective. Plain yogurt can also help with indigestion and gas by balancing your good bacteria, but it does not give the fast relief you get with the baking soda and water.

My advice is quit taking drugs if there is a healthy and safe alternative.

I had tried everything - digestive enzymes, probiotics, betaine (HCL acid), garlic and nothing really worked that well. Or they worked for a while but then stopped working. Now I take a capsule of oil of oregano twice a day with meals. More if I eat a dessert. I've been doing this for over a year and I now rarely have gas. It's truly amazing. But, it may not work on its own - you may need other supplements/diet changes.

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Iben from Bergen, Norway writes: "I've suffered from bad bloating and digestive problems my whole adult life. I was told by one specialist that I probably have IBS, but that I didn't need to bother with tests because there's not much to do about it besides learn which foods to avoid etc. Eliminating milk (besides buttermilk/kefir and butter) and cutting down on grains in recent months has helped a lot, but I saw another doctor who pointed out that IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion and I may as well find out if there's more to it than irritable bowels. So I'm now being tested for allergies, intolerances and any diseases that might be lurking in the stomach-area. I am excited to hear about the results of the tests, of course, but I'm more excited about just having discovered the wonders of CARAWAY-TEA! A few days ago it hit me: carraway seeds boiled with cabbage completely eliminates the otherwise hellish bloating (in me, anyway). So why not carraway on it's own?

And sure enough, just a teaspoon or two per cup of water (I either let the seeds boil for a few seconds before steeping, or crush them in a mortar and pour boiled water over) has made me a new and happier person. For over a week now I have been moving around with ease, no gas-attacks lasting for days or even hours, I'm no longer distracted by pains in my stomach and stiffness because of cramps. The strange thing is, it hasn't helped my over-all digestion because my bowel-movements are still helter-skelter. But without a doubt it works directly and efficiently on the gas. Supposedly you can chew it raw before meals, if you're prone to indigestion. I tried that, too, but didn't notice a difference so I'll stick with the after-meal tea (better-tasting than raw and dry).

Silverspoon from Los Angeles, California writes: "I have a gas problem. I have had it now for about 3 years. I am never bloated but I feel it my rectum. It builds up every few minutes and even rumble sometimes and makes me want to release it. I have also realized that I am releasing gas without even knowing it. It's embarrassing because I go out a lot and I notice people's reaction after a little while the way they excuse themselves from me. I did have acid reflux and I thought that was the problem - but I have taken medicine and it's pretty much gone. I have taken xgas and other gas tablets and nothing seems to work. Even had H pylori test done and. My biggest worry is the release of gas without even knowing it. Any suggestions?"

[YEA] Don from Southwest, Michigan writes: "Stomach Pain and/or Gas

Strawberries.

For any kind of stomach ache, gas pain, heart burn or stomach upset of any kind, I eat 4-6 frozen strawberries and the discomfort is gone instantly. This remedy has worked 100% of the time for me for many years. It has also worked 100% of the time for everyone I have told. My mother is 89 and takes several medications and supplements and sometimes gets terrible stomach pains and gas. She ate 5 frozen strawberries and by the time she ate the last one her pain and gas had disappeared. She is a devout skeptic and was amazed at the results.

I have tried this with many different varieties of strawberries and they all work. My favorite here in southwest Michigan is called Early Glow and we freeze about 60 qt. every year. Just hull the "caps", rinse in water, let drain in a colander and put into whatever size plastic freezer bag you prefer. Even if they are out of season in your area and you have to pay a higher price at a super market, get at least one qt. to keep in the freezer. When you get a stomach ache eat 4-6 of them and your pain should disappear.

I hope this helps you stop wasting money on expensive, super hyped, over the counter upset stomach chemicals that in my opinion just do not work and always made me feel worse.

Best Wishes For A Peaceful Future
Don

[YEA] Mark from Portland, Oregon writes: "Hi, I have found a great gas/bloating remedy. If you put a capsule of golden seal in an enema bag with warm (purified) water, it makes the best enema. At least for me, it makes me go and go until I am completely clean and fresh. I like it much better than coffee, and it really clears my head. I feel like it gives the digestive tract a fresh start and cleanses my blood. This is also a great way to move out hardened waste and therefore lose some excess weight. It also seems to cure constipation which I used to get, but now is very rare, which usually comes on from eating something bad. I just do another enema! Also I do one whenever I feel like I am starting to get sick and if I do it early enough it just goes away. In fact I haven't taken a sick day in over 4 years! It only takes a few minutes to do and then I just jump in the shower. All the benefits of golden seal in a powerful and quicker way."
