Ms42000 from Sacramento, California, Usa writes: "I have a question for Ted. I have been sick since August this year. Started with loss of appetite, along with fatigue, pain in the right lower quadrant, and then two weeks ago, the pain because localized just in the right upper quadrant. They 2 ultra sounds show no stones, but a nuclear gall bladder scan today showed that there is a problem with the gall bladder. I used to have pain all over the body in different areas. Now the pain is only below my ribs around the liver/gall bladder area.

My main concern is that after eating, or drinking even water, i feel fluid which i think is bile moving into my small intestines, but all somewhere else in my body. Is that possible. One doctor said that can't happen. Would that be free fluid in the abdomen?

Has anyone out there experience something like that, and what is the solution. I do not want my gall bladder removed.

I am also bloated most of the time. I will try your ACV solution."

[YEA] Kim F from Chicago, Illinois writes: "I am 39 years old and have been having gallbladder issues off and on. I have done one effective liver/gallbladder cleanse that was very helpful, but the power of doing the cleanse is to do them continually until no more stones are left - which I haven't done yet... The best info I have found (of course in addition to earthclinic.com :))is available on sensiblehealth.com and researching Andreas Moritz.

I wanted to add my review for the 8 oz apple juice and 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar. I started to get the telltale soreness under my right rib cage yesterday morning so I took the apple juice and apple cider vinegar at the end of the day yesterday and then again this morning. Ahhh, the relief! I still have slight soreness, but no pain.

I highly recommend this remedy, but can't stress enough how much a gallbladder cleanse can truly help out in the long run.

Best wishes in your personal quest for health. :)"

[YEA] Kelly from Cincinnati, Ohio writes: "a good remedy for gall bladder pain is to take 1 TBSP of flax seed with 2 1/2 cups of water and boil for 5min. pour off flax seed oil (rich in omega-3 fatty acids, life fish) and drink. I put some cinnamon and truvia (plant based sweetner) to taste and sip till gone. It really helped. alot of websites tell you to grind flax seed, but if you don't have a grinder, just take what you need for a week( in recipes et.),and put 1 tbsp. flax seed/1 to 1-1/2 cups water in a clear jar w/ a lid and refridgerate overnight (use distilled or spring wate of course). the flax oil will leach out and rise to the top by morning------- for the gall bladder attack though, boil and drink like a tea ASAP. It helped me. don't store too long in fridge."

Jeanne from New York, NY writes: "Kelly's flax tea recipe caught my eye just in time. I just finished my first cup of flax seed tea after eating a very rich Indian dinner earlier tonight, which was starting to give me shooting gall bladder pain! I added half a cinnamon stick to the tea after it had boiled and a half teaspoon of blackstrap molasses since I don't like stevia's after-taste. Yummy! Too soon to tell if it has worked or not, but I think I will make a habit of drinking this regularly. My skin feels softer already. Thanks Kelly!

P.S. I did not grind the seeds before boiling them.

[YEA] Sharik from Arcata, Ca writes: "I have, for years, had a disintegrating gall bladder and, because I am allergic to anesthesia, have chosen to live with it. When I have an attack, I use 1/4 Cup ACV in 8 oz. of organic apple juice and the attack goes away within minutes (usually 15). I keep small bottles of apple juice around for just such times. When I use it for a cleanser or for any other reason, I also use apple juice as a sweetener, usually the frozen kind. Just pour a little into your water bottle, along with the ACV and fill with distilled water. For some reason it makes it much more palatable. Hope this helps those who find it difficult to take with water alone."

[YEA] Ellen from Gainesville, Fl writes: "Gall bladder pain: Lemon and lime juice in hot water

I have had mild to severe gall bladder pain for years. A recent spell of attacks was so bad that I could hardly sleep. My GP scheduled me for an abdominal ultrasound which revealed that I am "full of gallstones" and I was urged to have my gall bladder removed. Instead, I consulted with my acupuncturist who told me to drink the juice of a whole lime and a whole lemon squeezed into hot water every morning. I couldn't quite take the taste of the whole lime and lemon all at once so I broke mine up into a morning drink of 1/2 lemon plus 1/2 a lime in hot water (sometimes brewed with my organic green tea to add some flavor) and then again at night before I go to sleep. After 2-3 days, my pain was reduced by 75%. Within a week I was experiencing mild twinges only. Now, after 3 weeks, I am pain free and I am losing weight!

I've also been eating a lot of organic apples and grapes (good for flushing the liver) and I have cut out dairy, wheat, and all fried or processed foods. I feel lighter and my belly is shrinking daily!

My acupuncturist has said that the reason I wasn't able to lose weight is because my body can't metabolize the fat properly and removing my gall bladder would have been the worst thing to do and would NOT have solved my problems at all."

I read it and tried the ACV?/Apple juice and thankfully was helped in about 30 minutes.I was diagnosed with a 2 cm gallstone over 10 years ago. Thought I was having a heart attack then. They sent me to the surgeon then, and I thought then , not for me. Got to try something else first. Did a few gall bladder flushes and not much happened. I have attacks now and then. Not as bad as the first. Doesn't always happen with fatty meals. strange. I love to travel and it does worry me if I am in another country and it happens. At least I have something I can do at home!!! I was wondering how to post. I joined the email. Want to thank people for there stories and words of encouragement."

[YEA] Sarah from Orlando, FL writes: "After my first gall bladder attack, I began experiencing chronic gall bladder pain in the way of a constant ache in my back on the right side below my shoulder blade. After doing some reading about natural cures for gall bladder issues, I decided to start with Lecithin. Within a few weeks of taking (not pill form) Lecithin Granules in yogurt, my pain was almost completely gone. I started taking it in 2005 and it's now 2009. And so far I haven't had another attack. Sometimes I do experience a small ache after eating cold dairy or a fatty meal, but once I take a dose of lecithin the ache goes away. The other thing I want to stress is that changes in the diet must be made as well. Eat low fat meals, cut down on sugar, dairy and caffeine. I have found that organic dairy products are less likely to cause gall bladder pain. My Lecithin dose was twice a day. Two teaspoons in the morning and two teaspoons in the afternoon. I did this for a year, then after wards cut back to every other day, and then gradually down to a few times a week."

[YEA] Sonya from Acworth, GA writes: "I would not post to this column if this did not truly work. I had an attack last night that lasted for hours and hours. I have never felt so ill. I happened on this board and saw the apple cider vinegar remedy. I did not have juice, so I used one tablespoon of ACV in plain, room temperature water. I was genuinely skeptical, and I expected the concoction to make me sick. Quite the opposite was true! I was absolutely over the attack within in 15 or 20 minutes, and I was able to sleep (the attack kept me up all night). Thanks to all who made this recommendation - it worked a miracle for me!"

[YEA] Annmarie from Tampa, FL writes: "Remedy for Gallbladder Attacks: I've been having some pretty severe gallbladder attacks for months now and was desperate for relief. Once one of my attacks took me to the hospital, they found tons of stones and recommended removal of the gallbladder. I'm having my surgery tomorrow but had to wait a few weeks between my ER visit and surgery and I had a number of attacks since then. I came online desperately looking for a temporary fix and found the apple juice and apple cider vinegar cure. I was AMAZED and so relieved that this WORKED! I drank one cup of apple juice with 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar and within 15 minutes my attacks stopped immediately! Thank you so much for publishing this information because I was so relieved that this got rid of my attack that I wanted to cry tears of happiness! Also as a note, one night I did not have apple juice and took a shot of 1tbsp of just the apple cider vinegar and this did work as well. A heating pad also helps to relieve any pain until the apple cider vinegar works to relieve the attack."

[YEA] JoAnn from Cleveland, OH writes: "When I was growing up my Mom read every book by Adele Davis, a nutritionist. Back then in the '60's the Honey and Apple Cider Vinegar Drink was promoted in the book for healthy living. Mom used to keep a glass jar of it on our kitchen counter for us to drink when we wanted. Doing so resulted in our having fewer upset stomachs, reduced heart burn, and a general sense of feeling good.

Recently when I began having gallbladder colic, I turned to your site for relief and low and behold the suggestion of "apple cider vinegar" was suggested in water to relieve the discomfort. I tried it after years of not drinking it. Like the folks above stated, it worked and worked quickly. It was such a relief to rediscover this remedy as I had been suffering several times a week with the biliary colic that accompanied my gall bladder disease. No longer did I have to suffer for hours until it subsided.

I just had my gall bladder removed and feel so much better. But like others tell me who also had theirs removed, our liver can still make stones and they still continue with some digestive upsets. So, my plan is to drink my honey and vinegar water daily to promote good digestion along with digestive enzymes to help me to digest my food.

My Mom did know best, and at a time in our world when few bought into such ideas. So glad she did and so glad you all reminded me of the wisdom of this simple, yet healthful drink."

Every time I eat something with too much fat for my body to handle, I get a pain in my gallbladder several hours later. Sometimes it will last for days and the rib becomes sore. I guess they call these gall bladder attacks. I came across the apple cider vinegar in apple juice remedy on this site 2 weeks ago and immediately went out and bought both. It worked within 20 minutes! No more gall bladder pain! I am going to wait until the spring and do a gall bladder cleanse. I was going to do one now, but my acupuncturist told me spring is the time to do organ cleanses."

Well to my surprise less than 3 months later was bent sideways in pain again and there was no denying that kind of pain I knew it was my gallstones but didnt know if that could be possible knowing that I had my gallbladder removed, so did some research and found out it was very possible and that the stones could be lodged in my bile ducts or pancreas. So the pains kept coming and I have no insurance and did not go to the doctor but the pains were to the point where I had to find something which brings me to thanking all the great advice I received when I come across this site. Last night the attack of pains hit me and in seconds was unbearable tried some ACV in a warm glass of water and the pain was gone within a minute thanks so much for this site it is very helpful"

[YEA] Janie from Mattoon, Illinois writes: "First of all I absolutely love this website! It is so helpful and... eye-openingly refreshing!

I am a vegetarian and know the importance of getting protein especially. Little did I know until later that I wasn't getting enough protein when I thought all along I had! Last year I went through a sleugh of tests to try and figure out why I was having this God-awful stabbing, jabbing pain directly below my right rib cage which to me, felt like a heart attack. It seemed to flair up an hour or two after a meal. I also suffer from Gerd so I would somehow associate it with that. But, I would have this uncomfortable pain consistantly every day -And it was more apparent at night or in the wee hours of the morn. My doc thought it might be gallbladder so I underwent tests for that. They came back Negative. During the many visits and not to mention the dollars spent trying to get to the bottom of what was causing that pain - I decided to get up on the internet to try and find the answer myself. Realizing that I am a vegetarian and have been for many years, I checked out everything food related and that I needed in the way of nutrtion, that was beneficial to my living this vegan lifestyle. During the research I found that a lack of B12 could be the cause for this sharp, unexplained pain that I was having - and I had been having it for more than a year or so - Anyways. to make this long story short, I went back to the doc. Told her what I found that might be causing this pain - She ordered up a blood test and found out that I was deficient in B12! She didn't want to give me the shots so I was put on B12 supplements that she recommended from the health food store ( Must contain methylcollomin - check my spelling on that word though ok?) - Anyways, after taking the 1,000 mcg's of B12 - 2 a day at first - now down to one,the pain was gone almost immediately (with-in a week I'd say) and remains to be gone to this day!!!! Yeah.... The brand I take is B12 Infusion by Enzymatic, for those of you who might be interested. Thanks for letting me share my story.

[YEA] Jo Nelson from La Grande, Oregon USA writes: "The Gallbladder and slow bile flow

Nutmeg, Cream of Tartar & Lemon Juice.

I had my Gallbladder removed in 1985. Since then, I sometimes experience a Cholic after eating certain foods. I try to remember to take Bile Salts or Digestive Enzymes before I eat something that I know may cause this problem...but sometimes I forget. When the Cholic hits me, it is in the right side about the area of the surgery scar. Sometimes, I can actually feel a "gas lump". If it is really bad, it will go up into my shoulder and neck right to the base of my head and HURT.

I take 1/2 baking soda and apply a hot rice bag to the area for quick relief.

My friend is a Clinical Nutritionist and she gave me this remedy to thin the bile flow so that my body gets the bile it needs.

For 5 mornings, I take this recipe.
1/4 teas. nutmeg
1/4 teas. cream of tartar
2 Tbls fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup warm water.

It doesn't taste bad and you will find that your digestion improves and the gas pockets go away.

[YEA] Serena from Helena, MT writes: "I was having gall bladder attacks when I was about two months pregnant. My OB/GYN wanted me to get a surgery consult to have it removed after the birth. That freaked me out a little so I asked my dad about what to do. He suggested that I drink 12 ounces of organic apple juice for 3 or 4 days, to help soften the stones or sludge. Then, the last thing on the fourth day on an empty stomach, drink 4oz of squeezed, strained, grapefruit juice mixed with 2oz of olive oil. Then lay down on my right side with my right knee as close to my chest as possible. Then, before going to bed put 2 tsp of magnesium citrate and swirl into 6 oz of water and drink. Should pass stones the next morning. I, being pregnant, didn't want to do anything too drastic. So, I modified this by diluting 1/4 Cup of ACV with water to about a Cup and drinking and then laying on my right side for the evening. I haven't had an attack since and it's been 7 months."
