Gall Bladder Remedies

"Gall stones usually remain asymptomatic initially. They start developing symptoms once the stones reach a certain size (>8mm). A main symptom of gallstones is commonly referred to as a gallstone attack, also known as biliary colic, in which a person will experience intense pain in the upper abdominal region that steadily increases for approximately thirty minutes to several hours. A victim may also encounter pain in the back, ordinarily between the shoulder blades, or pain under the right shoulder. In some cases, the pain develops in the lower region of the abdomen, nearer to the pelvis, but this is less common. Nausea and vomiting may occur.

These attacks are intensely painful, similar to that of a kidney stone attack. One way to alleviate the abdominal pain is to drink a full glass of water at the start of an attack to regulate the bile in the gallbladder, but this does not work in all cases. Another way is to take magnesium followed by a bitter liquid such as coffee or swedish bitters an hour later. Bitter flavors stimulate bile flow. A study has found lower rates of gallstones in coffee drinkers.

Often, these attacks occur after a particularly fatty meal and almost always happen at night. Other symptoms include abdominal bloating, intolerance of fatty foods, belching, gas, and indigestion. If the above symptoms coincide with chills, lowgrade fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes, and/or clay-colored stool, a doctor should be consulted immediately." (Wikipedia)




APPLE CIDER VINEGAR IN APPLE JUICE

My OB/GYN wanted me to get a surgery consult to have it removed after the birth. That freaked me out a little so I asked my dad about what to do. He suggested that I drink 12 ounces of organic apple juice for 3 or 4 days, to help soften the stones or sludge. Then, the last thing on the fourth day on an empty stomach, drink 4oz of squeezed, strained, grapefruit juice mixed with 2oz of olive oil. Then lay down on my right side with my right knee as close to my chest as possible. Then, before going to bed put 2 tsp of magnesium citrate and swirl into 6 oz of water and drink. Should pass stones the next morning. I, being pregnant, didn't want to do anything too drastic. So, I modified this by diluting 1/4 Cup of ACV with water to about a Cup and drinking and then laying on my right side for the evening. I haven't had an attack since and it's been 7 months."

In the last week, I discovered that I have Gall stones and I have had an attack everyday for the last seven days. I tried taking a very hot shower and then a cold shower to shock my system, while the pain subsided nothing seemed to work. I drink organic local unfiltered apple juice, and organic cider vinegar (with the mother). I drank it luke warm in the day time because I read that nothing too hot or cold is good for the liver, that it will cause pain. I drank it frequently throughout the day and evening. I drank it warm at night when it was chilly. At first I drank a half a gallon of apple juice and now I drink a quarter of a gallon and I have used about an ounce or more in a big glass and reduced the ACV proportionally in a smaller glass. It was in the kind of pain that evryone told me to get my gall bladder removed. I read about this treatment so I tried it and I started feeling better right away, and the pain came back once when it was stressful and I ran out of juice and cider. I will see a doctor for examinations, but I can't afford to right now."

[YEA]  02/09/2006: Cathie from Lansdale, PA writes: "i have had frequent "gall bladder attacks" since having my gall bladder removed over 5 yrs ago - the drs say it is due to spasms in the biliary ducts. nothing eliminates the pain or stops the spasms - believe me i've tried EVERYTHING! i read somewhere to fill an 8oz glass with apple juice (which i drink tons of anyway since the malic acid is good for the biliary system) & add a shotglass full of apple cider vinegar. then down the whole thing as fast as possible. within a few minutes (maximum) the pain subsides almost completely about 95% of the time. why don't the drs know about this? and why didn't anyone suggest it to me in lieu of percocet, morphine, etc??"

I plan to try many many things here.

I came here because of a gallbladder attack. I was sooo sick with this last attack, and I am not working and have no medical insurance. So I started out with AVC in apple juice and wow !! I felt much better (((but a very wonderful side effect occurred, which I wasn't expecting.... I have been holding water a lot lately in my ankles, and I have been drinking lots of water to help rid my body and eating very little to no salt, but still some puffiness.... I have been using ACV for 3 days now and my ankles and lower legs are TINY again !!! I can't believe it !!!) I have since then been reading all the wonderful things ACV does so I am a believer and will be taking it from now on.))) I did start out drinking the regular kind from the store in apple juice, but I have bought the organic ACV now...

My second subject is LETTUCE. I wanted faster relief on my gallbladder and eating a chunk of lettuce makes your stomach and gas build up from all of this ease down quite fast ...and it works! THANKS

My third subject is comfrey.... comfrey has many many used more than just bones.... I have it growing in my yard, and ((of course I haven;t been using it for about 1 month)) but that was me being dumb))) anyway I have a whole read out on comfrey and all of it's cures... but it may be too long for here. One thing it is for is the digestive system in your body. I usually cut me about 8 to 10 leafs each morning and bring them to a simmer and eat them. They are delicious and taste like rough spinach. My mom drinks comfrey tea. It is supposed to heal any upsets in your digestive track from your stomach right on down to your bowls, and ground comfry root is powerful stuff. Here is a small readout on just a few of it's healing powers......

I know a lady of 98 still going strong, a dear friend of my mom's, gave a plant to my mom and she in turn gave me some starts from it years ago, to help us with stomach problems and I did use it for 3 months once ... and was wonderfully healthy and no digestive problems at all... then I moved and my landlord would not allow me to pull it up. So it took me years to find it again and only this year, I have plenty... so along with my AVC, lettuce and comfrey I plan to get healthy and well.... ohh and I am just starting to use organic coconut oil on my skin ... will let everyone know .... :)

I knew that, because she had the malady, I, being her daughter, might get it, as well. 'Sure enough, after I had my 3rd child, while still recovering in the hospital, I got my 1st attack. They tried to tell me it was afterbirth pains, but I knew better.  As time went on, anytime I ate something containing fat, such as ground beef or sausage, I could expect excruciating pain.  When my dad died, I was 7 months pregnant with my 4th  child. I ate some rich ice-cream the next day; got so sick I spent almost an entire week in the hospital, unable to attend dad's funeral.  The pain was always on my right side, and felt like someone tied a thick rope around my waist and pulled it tight.  One day I took about 5 Swan aspirins to lessen the pain, but broke out in hives. When my tongue began to thicken, I called a friend to take me to ER, where I was given shots of benadryl and adrenaline.  At a later date, when another attack occurred, I drove myself to ER. This time, I was told I needed immediate surgery; my gallbladder was full of tiny gallstones. They sent a prep nurse to my room, but, when I realized they meant business, I became so afraid that I jumped out of bed, got dressed and went home. The surgeon was not happy with me; told me I wouldn't live long!  Shortly after, I joined a multi-level company that specialized in food supplements. During a meeting, a woman got up and testified that she'd been taking the company's lecithin for her gallbladder attacks; that her attacks had stopped completely. Excited, I ordered a bottle of the tablets that night, and began taking them religiously.  Long story short: I've had no attacks since then; continue taking lecithin to this day. No matter what form or brand I use, the lecithin always works. I thank God for leading me to this miraculous cure!  What I find strange is the fact that I've never read anything anywhere about lecithin for gallbladder symptoms.  Thank you for helping me get the word out, via your wonderful website!  Please, everyone suffering from gallbladder attacks, try lecithin before you opt for surgery. One tablet or capsule daily is all I take."

LEMON JUICE AND BAKING SODA

[YEA]  01/24/2008: Sandra from BD, WI writes: "I have tried Ted's lemon and baking soda mix (juice of 1 lemon and 1/2 tsp. baking soda in water)' morning and night for two days.  I started with diarrhea and then due to pain in the upper right quadrant, started to think it might be related to gallbladder.(I was diagnosed with a slow emptying gall bladder)  I think I may have disrupted by acid/base balance by over eating oranges and grapefruits around Christmas and then eating quite a bit of fruit as well.  I do get some relief from the pain, but diarrhea is still with me for two plus weeks. I will stay with this treatment for a few more days."

The attacks started due to taking digestive enzymes for 2 days and then going off them. The attacks began the next night with coleslaw, sausages, and saurkraut ..but continued for the next 2 weeks pretty much whatever I ate. In my worst attack I practically crawled to the computer to earthclinic.com. The 1/2 cup lettuce cure came up with 2 yeas. Sent son running to store for it and 20 mins. later after eating the 1/2 c. I had complete relief. As one writer speculated that it stimulated the liver to produce digestive enzymes that would stop the body from calling on the gallbladder to produce digestive bile.. So for the next 24 hrs. I ate nothing but iceberg lettuce -lots of it - and slices of organic apple. The next day I tried out eating whatever I wanted which had caused attacks throughout the prev. 2 wks. (except the cabbage/sausages -bad memory!) Even McDonald's failed to give me an attack. I am so thrilled with this cure of course!

Hearing once recently that digestive enz help people lose a lot of weight, I wonder if the stimulation of the liver a couple times a day with particularly iceberg lettuce (as it's supposed to work the best rather than other lettuces) would be a natural weight loss cure as well? I know it seems to make less of the slight puff around my ankles -more definition. So it might also help with fluid retention. As well my new pretty set wrinkles of 6 mos. ago have almost completely disappeared within a few days of ingesting 3x per day atleast (vertical ones beneath my eyes -not the crow's feet). Try it and I'd love to hear your feedback as I'm a personal trainer and would love to see if it helps people lose weight -at least it brings down the glycemic index of each meal you eat it with some."

All it takes is a handful of lettuce and all the pain is gone within 5-15 min. I find iceburg works better than romaine or leaf. I think it is because the lettuce makes your liver produce bile so your body stops trying to get it from your gall bladder. Works for me EVERY time!"

NUTMEG, CREAM OF TARTER, LEMON JUICE

Nutmeg, Cream of Tartar & Lemon Juice.

I had my Gallbladder removed in 1985. Since then, I sometimes experience a Cholic after eating certain foods. I try to remember to take Bile Salts or Digestive Enzymes before I eat something that I know may cause this problem...but sometimes I forget. When the Cholic hits me, it is in the right side about the area of the surgery scar. Sometimes, I can actually feel a "gas lump". If it is really bad, it will go up into my shoulder and neck right to the base of my head and HURT.

I take 1/2 baking soda and apply a hot rice bag to the area for quick relief.

My friend is a Clinical Nutritionist and she gave me this remedy to thin the bile flow so that my body gets the bile it needs.

For 5 mornings, I take this recipe.
1/4 teas. nutmeg
1/4 teas. cream of tartar
2 Tbls fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup warm water.

It doesn't taste bad and you will find that your digestion improves and the gas pockets go away."

OLIVE OIL, LEMON JUICE, ACV, APPLE

When hubby had a kidney stone attack and this site had his (lemon + oliveoil + water) cure, we also bought ACV hoping to fix his allergies. I knew an apple slice before bed prevents heartburn, and helps gall bladder. I feared my years' lower back pains also pointed to gall bladder, liver.

I googled "gall bladder holistic" and read here and at alive(dot)com the liver, gall bladder, small intestines, stomach issues and holistic fixes. I decided to try a light purge.

My breakfast was mostly fresh fruit and lots of water, with hot lemon tea (gall bladder cleanse beginning), by lunch while hubby drank his 2nd day's kidney stone cocktail, I also drank one (2 oz lemon juice blended with 2 oz olive oil chased with big glass water) - my gall cleanse at work. 5pm dinner my usual cramps above stomach in ribcage began. But this time with bloating. At 530pm I drank a mix of 1 oz ACV with 3 oz water. At 6pm still bloated, despite the full meal, I ate an apple. At 620pm instead of worse pain from eating more volume, my stomach felt MUCH better. Rib cage felt light yet low belly felt very heavy - gall purge building. When at 630pm I sat down as lower intestines really were gathering momentum, I wondered if I had some diarrhea bug and didn't know it. I hoped it was the lemon-olive oil, ACV and apple working. At 6:40pm I suddenly felt relief under my ribs and looked down, watching bloat go away before my eyes; it not only left, but my stomach was flattening too. My tshirt was loose! My stomach didn't hurt at all, NO bloating at all, I was visibly thinner! Lower intestines were churning. Decided to eat an half-inch apple slice just before 9pm bedtime. It canceled slight nausea from the churning. In a few minutes, a repeat of the slight bloat, lower instestine churning, then relief with disappearing bloat and visibly flattening stomach. WHITE WINE

[YEA]  03/28/2008: Dianne from Graham, WA writes: "I have had a gall bladder pain attack 6 out of the last 7 days. On Wed. night I went to a retirement party for our VP that had an open bar. I ordered a glass of White Wine (Chardonney to be exact) and within 20 mins. the pain I was having went away. And yesterday I had another attack so when I got home I put a bottle of Reisling in the freezer for about 20 mins. and then poured myself a glass. Again within about 20 mins of beginning to drink it the pain went away. Not why this seems to help the pain. Could it be the acidity in it, kind of like the Apple Cider vinegar?? I know this isn't a long term remedy and will be making a Dr's appt. next week.

Btw, I have experienced bouts of nausea and pain for the last 4 yrs. The problems come & go, such as I'll be fine for a few months and then all of a sudden it hits me again and they keep coming on for a month or so. I've been to the Dr. several times and they just prescribe omeprazole or something of that nature. But neither Dr. ever mentioned gall bladder. But after my attack on Easter Sunday I started doing some research and talked to a few people at work and the symptoms I'm having are the same they had. My pain is not on the right, it is above the naval in the center below my breastbone and it feels like something is boring through to my back and twisting. I also get bloated, nauseous, gassy, belchy, diarrhea, etc.."
