<description>[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Stephan from Philadelphia, Pa writes: "I have been using a mixture of Apple cider vinegar, borax and hydrogen peroxide on 3 fungus nails for about 2 months now about 5 times a week. My toenails are looking better. I spent about $450 having them lasered 2 years ago and that made them better, but in the process of filing them down, the assistant infected 2 other toes which weren\'t covered. External soaking and the internal antifungal remedies are the best option for the long term. Good luck to everyone out there treating this menace.

I have tried expensive fungus treatments and they have also worked, but at a cost. Now thanks to Earth Clinic I have found a treatment that works for a cost of pence. I can see a good sized band of new nail on every toe. I bought myself a dropper bottle for easy application. I didn\'t want to write a review until I was really sure vinegar worked, but as nearly half of my big toenails are clear in colour instead of brown I feel I can add my review. I am not the best at doing it twice a day as recommended, but always do it at least once a day.

<description> Floridagirl from Sunny, Fl writes: "Apple Cider Vinegar for nail fungus. It worked for me! :)
Background:
I think I had an injury to my thumb nail that caused the nail to lift a little, and well that\'s when I got nail fungus. It started in the corner and at first was just kind of a dark spot, and then the following couple of days started turning into a white-yellow half circle and was growing. When I would touch the nail or skin around it, it was tender. I thought maybe it was an infection, but it sounded more like a fungus.

Remedy I used:
Apple Cider Vinegar
Hydrogen Peroxide 3%
Vapor rub
Antibiotic ointment
What I did:
Clipped my nail back a little just in the affected corner. Just enough to show a little bit of the underlying skin. I did this to relieve a little pressure, because the skin was a little inflamed and was hurting. Also, I thought it would be easier for the medicines to reach the area.
I mixed a cap full of apple cider vinegar &amp; peroxide together. Dipped a q-tip in the mixture and rubbed it on, around, and under the affected area. It will fizz a little, but it does not hurt. You will get some pain relief with in a short time, if your fingernail was hurting before!
I rubbed this mixture on my finger nail 3 times a day.
During the day time, I would rub some antibiotic ointment on the area with NO bandaid. Of course, I had to re-apply frequently when my hands would get wet. At night I put Vick\'s vapor rub AND a bandaid on my thumb. I made sure the bandaid was not too tight, but also that it would not fall off.
I did all of this for 4 days.
On day two, I noticed that it seemed to start going away (shrinking), and by day 4 it looked like it was completely gone. Just keep applying everything until it is completely gone. I\'m so happy it worked!!

<description>[YEA] Ken from Kearns, Ut writes: "After many years, this finally did the trick.

I cut off as much of the bad nail as I could, even parts of the top of the nail. (This would be especially easy after a good bath or shower, or after soaking the foot for 20 minutes or so. )

Then each night, before I retired for the night, I taped a cotton ball to the top of my toe with scotch tape. I taped all around the toe so it wouldn\'t fall off. Then I soaked it with white vinegar. I slipped a sandwich baggie over the toe, then slipped a sock over the foot to keep the baggie on the toe. I did this for about a week. After about that time my toe was a little irritated (but not until that long), so I didn\'t do it for a week or so. Then I did it again for about a week.
I started noticing a difference after 2 or 3 weeks. Sure enough, that did the trick, and it was a lot easier than soaking my foot for 20 minutes. Not only that, I had tried soaking it before, but it was hard to keep up the routine.

I think part of the trick was to cut back as much as possible. Then, the overnight soaking killed the problem. It took a long time for the nail to finish growing out, but my toe is 100% normal now! Ah, finally! I just thought I ought to forward hope and a solution to the suffering.

First, I thoroughly cleaned the area removing as much of the infected area (toenail and skin) as possible. I then applied a generous drop of citricidal directly on the area and covered with a bandaid. There is a warning on the bottle which says \"do not use full strength on the skin\". I did it anyway. I\'m not recommending anyone else do this; I\'m just saying that\'s what I did. The area was sore for about a day. I\'ve repeated this procedure about 4 times so far with about 2 weeks between each treatment. The results? So far, my toenail has been growing back and there appears to be no trace of fungus. The area is greatly improved. I will continue with this process until my toenail is restored to normal. So, the citricidal seems to be working for me.

I am one week into my routine and three of my darkest nails have gone from black to 95% normal! They are pink. I am so happy. I will continue until I have totally nice and fungus free toes. <description> Always Seeking from Cary, Nc writes: "If you have a fungal problem please try this. Take Apple Cider Vinegar- the one with the Mother intact. You can find it at Whole foods, Vitamin Shoppe, etc around here. Take an empty spray bottle and use the ACV full strength alone or cut it 50/50 with water. When you get in the shower fully saturate your hair beginning at the scalp and leave this on say five minutes while you are doing everything else. What you are encountering I believe is what many of us suffer with, your ph is off. Therefore your body is allowing the fungus to grow. Go ahead and shampoo and condition as usual or believe it or not you can rinse the ACV out completely and it will have cleaned your hair. Do this everyday for the first week and then once every other time until you feel you have it under control. Then never let it get a head of you. Do this as a preventative once this is better. Chances are your diet is producing the imbalance ph wise. Sorry so long but I truly hope this helps you. Best to you!

<description>[YEA] Lucy from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia writes: "I contracted a fungal skin infection nearly a year ago, which started as a couple of tiny red areas on my stomach. It quickly spread to become big red patches all over my torso, my back and everywhere that \"sweated\" like under my breasts and in the skin folds you get when you sit. I was quite horrified as I\'ve never had any skin infections, not even so much as eczema. I tried all sorts of homeopathic remedies and had no luck, I was actually getting really worried as it was still spreading \"south\" and I really didn\'t want it in my groin area!

I went to my doctor and she dismissively said \"Oh that\'s really common, I can prescribe you a cream for it but they commonly don\'t have any effect. In most cases the body will eliminate the infection within 18 months. \" I\'d already been battling it for 8 months and it was made worse EVERY time I exercised no matter how good I was at washing, staying dry and airing out. It had spread to one armpit and the insane itching it caused all day was almost too much to bear, and nothing I applied topically helped for very long.

I was really disheartened, but I did read on here that Oregano oil was worth a try for some people. I had AMAZING success with it – I applied it undiluted with a cotton pad, and it was great on the torso area where there was no raw skin. It does burn though, boy does it burn. On sensitive areas like the underarm it honestly will take your breath away like an acid burn, for 20 minutes or so, so I found mixing a few drops with jojoba oil works very well as you can apply this more regularly. It also has the added benefit of eliminating underarm odour! I didn\'t actually need deodorant when I used this treatment. As long as you don\'t mind smelling like Bolognese sauce! It took only 3 or 4 days of applying this once or twice, whenever I could practically do it, to get rid of my infection and it hasn\'t returned. It\'s completely gone. I was gobsmacked. I am so relieved in every sense of the word! Best remedy for fungus ever in my humble opinion.

<description>[YEA] Tee from Chicago, Il, Usa writes: "I had fungus in one of my big toes for about 15 years. During that time I tried strict regimens of both OTC and prescribed topical medications, as well as tea tree oil. Had the nail removed twice so I could get whatever medication onto the infection site, which was at the base of the nail.

Twice the infection appreared to be gone, but later my heart sank as I saw the fungus returning.

Finally I ended up getting a prescription for an antifungal to be taken orally for 90 days. Expensive stuff, about $1000 USD. It did the trick... for three months! I decided to go it again. I got a second prescription, same stuff, thinking it might finish off the fungus 100% this time since it was a smaller infection than the first time. Well it worked... For three years. When I saw the infection returning, I almost cried.

I got online and started searching madly for causes of the fungus. That\'s when I first learned of the concept of candida, and intuitively felt there was something to it for me. I adhered to a strict diet (Google Candida diet), most importantly NO SUGAR. Worked like a charm; I saw results with my toe in a couple of months.

Over the following ten years fungus reappeared three more times... But at the top of the toenail, whereas before it was the base of the nail. The good news about that was that now I could get a topical medication to it without removing my nail.

The medication I used was bleach. I used the bleach pen, applying a line of it twice a day under the toenail. All three times this killed the fungus within a week. I realize this would not be a popular remedy with naturalists, but stubborn infections call for desperate measures.

Everytime it had appeared I had realized my sugar consumption had gradually increased over time, resulting in another fungus outbreak. So along with the bleach, I also cut out sugar during the treatment phase.

Finally I accepted that I am more sensitive to sugar than most people, and adopted a low sugar diet as a lifestyle.

I have been fungi-free for four years now! My toenail looks normal, as if it had never suffered 15 years of infection.

Hang in there! You have no choice but to be patient with the process, and you too will soon be fungi-free.
