Apple Cider Vinegar Food Poisoning Remedy

Home Remedy Ingredients

  • Apple Cider Vinegar - 2 Tablespoons

Immediately taking 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (straight, ideally, in a glass of water if you must) can kill off foreign pathogens in your food and stop food poisoning in no time at all.

[YEA]  06/26/2013: Mooshka : "Yes, apple cider vinegar helps ease the stomach. At first, when I searched for food poisoning remedies on earth clinic and I read ACV as the top remedy, I thought, "no way! " How could an ACID help your stomach?! But, it does. I mixed 2 tablespoons in water, and just a few minutes later the cramping, bloating and nausea slowly disappeared. Give it a try! You have nothing to lose!"

[YEA]  04/08/2013: Minkxy from NY, USA: "my friend called me last week. She Had food poisoning. She was on the second night, a seriosly dehydrated. Couldn't even keep water down. I had her mix a spoon of ACV in a cup of water. She swallowed a spoonful. The quarter of a second it was in her stomach was all it took. Thank God and earth clinic. Within the hour she turned the corner. 2 hours and she drank water ate soup. Thanks all."

[YEA]  02/20/2013: Sarah from Toledo, Ohio, United States: "Per the recommendation of EC I tried drinking ACV at the onset of food poisoning (ate bad chicken). It worked! I was doubled over in pain for two hours before I tried 1 tablespoon of ACV in cold water. I vomited an hour later, but the pain came back. This time I downed another Tablespoon in a glass of hot water. Same deal. I vomited an hour later. Finally I drank 1/4 cup ACV straight. It was very difficult to keep down, but I managed. An hour later I vomited again and slept through the night. I woke up feeling better and didn't get sick again. I think the ACV needs to be undiluted to work. Thanks for the suggestion!"

04/20/2012: Jason from Killeen, Tx, Usa: "Well after 34 years I have finally had my first case of food poison. I could not completely narrow this dread awful feeling to what I had eaten. Here are my symptoms and I am now on day 4. First two days, I had betwwen 5-6 bowel movements. The night of day two, the fever and cramps started. The third day had to be the grand finale. I counted about 23 trips to the restroom, with all liquids completly running through my system with cramps worsening. I'm on day four about 10 trips to the restroom and a little more severe cramps but not as many. I have just tried the apple cider so hopefully it will ease my cramps and kill all the little dudes causing so much havoc in my digestive tract. Ladies..... Now I think I know how you feel with menstrual cramps every month. I hope I never go through this again. Please feel free to e-mail me if anything has helped with you besides just waiting it out.

Thanks, Jason"

[YEA]  04/10/2012: Sensitive Creature from Baytown, Texas: "I am pretty sure that I was on the verge of food poisoning last night. The moment that I started feeling bad I started taking ACV and Honey. I always get an Elevated Heart Rate when I get a fever and/or virus. This is my experience after eating supper:

Sick: 4-9-11

Right after supper my stomach got bloated and hard and started cramping (pretty intense). Quickly, I took some ACV and honey. It helped with the bloatness and cramping. Not 100%, but better. Started getting chills and fever 99.2

11:40 pm. Fever 100.4 fixing to take more ACV heart rate up.

12:00am tried to have a bm but couldn't. Heart rate shot up and I had to lay down immediately.

12:45am fever 100.7 and elevated heart rate. Going to try to take some vinegar and honey. (got it done)!

Hr: 1:00am=102

1:30am fever=99.9 Hr still up. Worse when I have to get up.

Keep urinating and still bloated but not bad cramping as earlier. (drinking water only)

2:07 am. Feeling better except for my pounding elevated hr. And some pressure still in abdomen. I'm tired and sleepy, but this heart rate is keeping me up. Think I'll try some Gatorade now. Hr=95

2:30 am temp. =99.0 hr=93

Drank more Gatorade and water

5:30 am. Hr=75 temp=97.8 Woke up sweating and needed to go urinate. Tummy still somewhat bloated and uncomfortable, esp, when using muscles in that area.

10:00am hr=69 temp=97.9 feeling pretty darn good!!

Just a little tummy pressure and sleepiness.

Thanks ACV and Earthclinic! I know that it kept me from getting soooo sick!"

[YEA]  07/22/2011: Ashlyn from Arlington, Va: "A few days ago, I came down with a mild case of food poisoning- nauseous, sweaty, crampy and bad diarrhea. It had been going on for several days, forcing me to largely sit out my boyfriend's birthday dinner. I experienced no relief from Pepto, and was becoming incredibly dehydrated because of the bad heat wave going on right now.

Eventually, I remembered Earth Clinic (which I first used when looking up natural asthma remedies- go MSM! ). Anyhow, found an overwhelming positive response to ACV, so decided to get some (with the mother). Took 4 tbsp in a big glass of water. Although relief was not immediate, within an hour, the cramps were largely gone. By the next morning, although not 100% still, my symptoms had pretty much subsided- enough for me to eat something for the first time in days. Today I'm sipping on an ACV/water mix, continuing to feel better, and hoping I'll be well enough to maybe hit the pool this weekend after all. Thanks Earth Clinic for this simple, wonderful remedy!"

[YEA]  09/01/2011: Crazygood from Yukon, Oklahoma, Usa replies: "I love my ACV. I started using it for my menstrual migraines which were usually twice a month- very short episodes of aura followed by a couple hour long medium sized headache. Occasionally, I would get a real bad one, or one from the weather. About two months ago, they had evolved to week long episodes of migraines with aura. Anyway, I saw the ACV cure, and started taking the ACV every day, and if I felt one coming on. I just keep mine cold, and take a couple of spoonfuls of it when I need to. I like the taste, so, straight works fine for me.

Anyway, I had a gall bladder attack a couple weeks ago, and took a couple spoons. Ten minutes, pain gone. Then I had a really gassy day- took a couple spoons- gas gone in ten minutes. I'm loving it, right?

Well, today I went to Subway and got a Spicy Italian sub. Ate it at 2, and by 6 I'm suffering from a case of screaming runs. Stomach was cramping, bloated with gas, nausea but no vomiting. I'm miserable. Thank god for phone games is all I have to say. I sat there for about an hour. Anyway, I decide to take some ACV. Two spoonfuls, the runs slowed then stopped. Couple hours later, I'm still feeling bloated and gassy so I take two more- now my belly no longer feels swollen like it's gonna pop and the gas and cramps are gone. This is the second time I have gotten sick from Subway- first time was about six years ago, and it was ten times as bad as this. Anyway, not the point. There is lots of conflicting info about the ACV- but all I can tell you is that

1) Migraines are significantly reduced- and one started the other day and I took some ACV and it aborted.

2) Worked for the gallbladder attack.

3) Worked for gas and food poisoning. It may not work for everyone, but for me, all I can say is I will never ever ever not have a couple of bottles in the house. Oh- additionally- I have used both the ACV with and without the mother, and have not noticed a difference in what kind I use."

[YEA]  07/01/2011: Brian from Rockville, Maryland: "I made some salmon for dinner around 7pm, and it seemed underdone when I was eating it but I didn't care (I was hungry! ). I'm not going to make that mistake again. I woke up at 5:00 with my stomach in a knot and I knew what was going to happen. I first threw up at 6, then felt much better, but about 30 minutes later I started feeling sock again. While I was sitting/laying on the bathroom floor waiting for the inevitable.

I did a quick search and found this site on my phone. I have to say that I was pretty skeptical about Apple Cider Vinegar but when I looked at all the success stories I thought I should give it a shot. I took two swigs from the bottle and thought I was going to vomit, but I didn't. In about 10 minutes I could feel my stomach starting to feel better. It's been 2 hours now and I just took one more swig, for good measure, and I'm slowly eating some wheat toast and sipping water on the couch in confidence. Thank you all for posting, this remedy is truly remarkable."

[YEA]  06/21/2011: Hip Hop Abs from Albuquerque, New Mexico: "ACV works great for food poisoning, but it can also be taken with water BEFORE you eat. This will help acid reflux, digestion, and help prevent food poisoning."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  06/08/2011: Hanah from Great Falls, Mt, Usa: "I had terrible food poisoning all night and after calling every doctor in town with no chance of getting in anywhere (apparently food poisoning isn't that big of an ailment here! ) I turned to the internet in hopes of finding something I could use that was in my house. I swallowed two undiluted tablespoons of ACV and followed with some water. Almost immediately I felt relieved, but about 10 minutes later I threw it all up (throwing up acid is terrible). I feel better, but it didn't cure me."

[YEA]  05/22/2011: Wife from Winter Park, Fl: "A miracle! My husband was sooo sick last night after food poisoning. He threw up 5 times and was miserable. I searched the web and found this site. I gave him ACV (which he said tasted horrible) but was immediately (within 15 min) feeling much better and slept through the rest of the night. Thanks! Amazing!"

[YEA]  04/06/2011: Charlie from Aus, Tx, Us: "Hi, I just came back from India where I ate whatever I decided. I had TWO food poisoning back to back. The second one gave me a worst ever diarrhea, the first one was bearable. After coming back from the trip I found earth clinic on the net, and gave a try to apple cider vinegar asap. I was cured almost immediately, after drinking a glass of water with half vinegar in it, I never had the symptoms again. Thank you for the help.

Regards, Charlie "

[YEA]  02/22/2011: Robert from Studio City, Ca: "My wife came home from work last week with really bad food poisoning--vomiting, unbearable cramping, dizziness. I saw the ACV remedy on this site and it worked in ten minutes!"

[YEA]  01/10/2011: Linda from Omaha, Ne: "Anytime I feel the stomach flu coming on or just feeling nauseas I take a shot of Organic ACV in water and whatever was coming on goes away. My husband got food poisoning from a bad turkey and when I felt it coming on I took the vinegar; he got very ill but I only had a minor stomachache. I have no idea if other vinegars will work as I have only used the organic ACV; it only costs about 5.00 for 32 oz. so well worth having it on hand forever."

[YEA]  11/18/2010: Livia from The Woodlands, Tx: "I read somewhere that apple cider vinegar was good for food poisoning. I think it was in a book by Dr. Jarvis. Anyway, one night, after a meal featuring undercooked lamb at an upscale restaurant, I found myself in a painful ordeal in a public toilet not far from that restaurant, and as soon as I knew there was NOTHING left inside of me to come out unexpectedly, despite the fact that I was still cramping and miserable, I had dh drive me home and bring me some vinegar and water in a glass. I asked for half and half, though I don't recall what Dr. Jarvis said about amounts. I sipped teeny tiny sips, one every 2 minutes or so, barely enough to wet my tongue (it was very nasty tasting, lol).

Within fifteen minutes, the awful, endless cramping and dashes to the bathroom stopped. I kept sipping every five minutes or so for another forty five minutes, and was still fine, went peacefully to bed, no more problems that night, no problems the next day... It was all over. Since then I've only had one other opportunity to use ACV on suspected food poisoning, though it was a much milder incident. I felt better within minutes, as before."

[YEA]  08/16/2010: Shelly from Camarillo, California: "Awoke this morning to find my husband throwing up and diarrhea. Realized right away it was food poisoning. Got online to find a remedy and found this site. Thanks so much. The ACV worked like a charm. He's a pretty big guy. I gave him 2 tbls in 4 oz distilled water. He would rather have it a bit stronger in a smaller amount of water so he can down it quickly. Then he chased it with another 4 oz distilled water. 10 minutes later he was sleeping like a baby. Got up about 2 hours later and actually went to work!"

06/19/2011: Daisy from Sf, Ca replies: "Jeremy, not that I disagree, but please back up your statement about distilled water with facts so that the rest of us can understand your feelings about it. Thank you."
07/06/2011: Sarah from Baltimore, Md replies: "how can distilled water be bad for you???! It is evaporated water that is then collected from the condensation. Might not be much good left in it, but certainly nothing bad (chlorine, bacterias etc) left either!!

that's why it's recommended for infants! :)"

09/29/2012: Buckhorn Drunk from Fall River, Ma replies: "How can distilled water be bad for you? Isn't rain water distilled water? (It evaporated and condensed but at a lower temperature.)"
[YEA]  11/23/2012: Relieved! from Glendale, Arizona replies: "What an outstanding remedy! I was awoken from a deep sleep experiencing strong stomach pains. I suspected food poisoning from a Thanksgiving dinner, hours before.

After coming across this blog. I've tried 2-Tbls of ACV and water. After sipping it, noted the pains had started to subsided after 10-minutes. For good measure, I finished the drink.

I now feel comfortable, and ready to climb back into bed. Thank you all for contributing. The Internet is awesome!"
