[YEA]  11/11/2006: Terri from San Jose, CA: "5HTP is greatly helping myself and my daughter with our symptoms of fibromyalgia. I have tried low doses of antidepressants in the past but nothing worked as well to improve my sleep as 5-HTP has. I take 200mg per night. My type comes with several essential cofactors to assist in proper seratonin production. No side effects for me, unlike with the other drugs. I'm considering it for more members of my family. We have a genetic sleep and pain disorder. Hopefully we can find the right dose for all of us. I advise everyone to see a qualified ND or sympathetic MD before self dosing to be extra safe but side effects are rare thankfully."

BETTER BUT NOT CURED

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  07/30/2010: Robin from Chicago, Il: "Let me start by saying that I've always been into natural health and supplements, and am very aware of my body and what goes into it. I knew something was wrong for about 6-7 years, but when fibro/CFS finally hit me like a mack truck last October, I was absolutely shocked that I was nearly crippled and could not stop sleeping. I knew I wasn't dying only because I had been trying tirelessly to lose weight since my daughter was born in 2005. It just wasn't happening. However, I could not imagine what could possibly give me so much pain and fatigue, but not be killing me at the same time?! Needless to say, I figured it out. Great... One of those things no one really knows what it is, where it comes from, etc. Well, the internet is now my best friend, which I'm sure is something to which all of you can relate. Okay, so I'll get to the point!! In May, I began taking acetyl l-carnitine with alpha lipoic acid (must be taken together) after okaying it with my rheumatologist. The acetyl l-carnitine actually GOT ME OUT OF BED and able to play with my daughter and do a bit of housework. Although, I still have a lot of pain, I no longer sleep for hours on end and some of the fog has lifted. Apparently, acetyl l-carnitine works with mitochondria and helps them to properly utilize energy sources. I'm also happy to report that, since I started taking this supplement, I've lost 12 pounds (in 2 months). I'm not sure if it's because my body is better processing my food intake or just the fact that I'm out of bed. All I know is that I have done nothing different calorically. For those of you with chronic fatigue, this is really, really worth a try. I thank God EVERY DAY!!"

I started drinking acv a year ago different ways and had a hard time with it but it was worth it to get rid of the inflamation in my low back. I suffer from spinal stenosis and scoliosis. The best way I have found to drink acv is to put about 1 or 2 ozs. in a glass of vegetable juice. It makes it easier to drink for me.

I am so very pleased to have been able to find this website. It has really helped me a great deal!"

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR AND MAGNESIUM

12/21/2010: Bill from San Fernando, Luzon, Philippines: "Here is some research which confirms the positive effects of using malate(ACV) and magnesium to help cure Fibromyalgia(FM) and is yet more confirmation as to how alkalizing with ACV and baking soda(forming malates) plus taking Magnesium(as Mag Chloride or Mag Citrate or Mag Gluconate) can help FM.

Here are the summary and abstract conclusions from the research:

"Primary fibromyalgia (FM) is a common clinical condition affecting mainly middle-aged women. Of the etiologies previously proposed, chronic hypoxia seems the one best supported by recent biochemical and histological findings. We postulate that FM symptoms are predominantly caused by enhanced gluconeogenesis with breakdown of muscle proteins, resulting from a deficiency of oxygen and other substances needed for ATP synthesis. We present data supporting a critical role for magnesium and malate in ATP production under aerobic and hypoxic conditions; and indirect evidence for magnesium and malate deficiency in FM. After treating 15 FM patients for an average of 8 weeks with an oral dosage form with dosages of 1200-2400 mg of malate and 300-600 mg of magnesium, the tender point index (TPI) scores (x±) were 19–6±2–1 prior to treatment and 8±1.1 and 6–5±074. Respectively, after an average of 4 and 8 weeks on the magnesium malate combination (p < 0.001). Subjective improvement of myalgia occurred within 48 h of supplementation. In six FM patients, following 8 weeks of treatment, the mean TPI was 6.8 ±0.75. After 2 weeks on placebo tablets, the TPI values increased to amean ± SE of 21.5 ±1–4(p < 0.001). Again, subjective worsening of muscle pain occurs within 48 h of placebo administration. A double-blind placebo control trial is currently underway."
Source:http://informahealthcare.com/doi/abs/10.3109/13590849208997961

So, just taking two tablespoons of ACV with 1/2 tspn sodium bicarbonate in half a glass of water three times a day with split doses of between 300-600 mgs magnesium per day is actually very beneficial against Fibromyalgia."

[YEA]  07/05/2008: Tina from Manchester, UK: "hi,
just wanted to say thank you so much for a this wonderful site.
i suffered very badly with cfs and fibromyalgia,
basically stopped having a life and suffering with pain that was unbearable.
i started using acv/borax/bs/cayen p/ [apple cider vinegar/borax/baking soda/cayenne pepper] and drank a glass every day. after 3 months the pains stopped, if i was in a lot of pain i would take 2 tbs of acv straight and within half an hour the pain would go.
ESIKMO OIL sorted my brain fog out and i have got my mind back, thank God.
i have also been using a bed called ceragem, amazing, really sorted me out.www,ceragem.net.
they do free trails,i have seen people walk in there with walking sticks and walk out after 3 monthes, without them. especialy people with MS.
please do not drink tap water, check the internet for what is in water from taps, no wonder people are ill.
the most important thing for me was, when the drs said their is no cure and it will get worse.
thats the biggest lie i have heard.i decided not to believe them and KNEW I COULD GET BETTER. i do not suffer from cfs/fibro anymore, and it happened so quikly after suffering with it for 8 yrs. all i can say is stay positive and seek and you shall find. xxx

ps. i took all the advise on earthclinc, cutting out all the things they have mentioned and taking all the stuff they have mentioned."

ARTIFICIAL SWEETENER LINK

SIDE EFFECT

[SIDE EFFECTS]  01/11/2010: Shannon from Blue Water Bay, Fl: "My research is preliminary though I have experienced a reduction in all over body pain. I was beginning to think that I might have this new silly mutant desease that is now being titled Fibromyalgia. I am a daily reader of this site and was one day reading of aspartame poisioning. I was shocked that my beloved coffeemate creamer contained this new lab created sweetener stuff. I quit adding it to my coffee two weeks ago. Within a day/day and a half my all over body pain had quit.

I checked out this page today and was surprised to see so much pointing to flouride poisioning. I was sure I would see something about these artificial sweeteners causing what is now being diagnosed as Fibromyalgia.

I read of airmen being poisioned in the gulf war of aspartame. What I read was it was linked to pallets of diet sodas shipped to the desert. Being in the desert these cans were exposed to heat. Aspartame and its related biproducts are known to become toxic both in consumption and exposure to heat. Unknowingly they were consumed and that is what made these veterans sick.

http://www.dorway.com/guilford.html
http://www.mercola.com/article/aspartame/gulf_war.htm

Check your diet! The FDA has approved this stuff for use in our food products. OMG!!! We (consumers) are the guinea pigs. Do some research of your own. You don't have to look very hard either.

I generally eat fairly healthy though I love my junk food/fast food as much as the next. I do not like this diet stuff and even turn down sugar free items as I don't like the taste of those artificial sweeteners. I was surprised to find it in my coffee creamer and stopped it immediately. As stated, my pain has been gone for two weeks so far."

Replies
01/19/2010: Shannon from Blue Water Bay, Fl replies: "I wanted to add to my previous post from last week on Fibromyalgia. I did want to add that I first suspected candida as the culprit to my body pains. I first read of candida and discovered coconut oil around the first of December 09. I read up and experimented with the Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) and diagnosed myself with candida as I was experiencing candida die-off symptoms right away upon ingesting the VCO. I backed off and used as a lotion/moisturizer after a shower and under makeup to start with. I backed off again if the die-off symptoms returned. I started taking about a teaspoon daily of VCO internally this past weekend, six weeks later. So far no more die-off symptoms have returned.

At the same time just over two weeks ago I quit drinking the coffee creamer I suspected had this sweetener in it. As stated, my constant all over body pains were gone within 2 days and still have not returned.

My point--before masking symptoms with these drugs, try and find the source. I am only 30 and don't follow history much...but where was Fibromyalgia 50 years ago...even 30 years ago? Take a look at what is in your diet and check out candida symptoms and check yourself out. Modern medicine mainly antibiotics is a big culprit in causing candida from what I have read.

Both aspartame and candida are linked to body pains and a multitude of other side effects. My previous post list some aspartame websites, below are some candida websites.

http://www.holistichelp.net/candida.html
http://www.candidasymptoms.net/

Eliminating candida and as many of these darn toxic artificial sweeteners from my diet I am positive is what has made my symptoms disappear."
03/29/2011: Rhanna from Colorado Springs, Co replies: "I read the comment about Fibromyalgia being a "new, silly, mutant disease" and was both shocked and saddened by it. The commenter asked where Fibromyalgia was 50 years ago.

It was here... Its been called many names over the years, but the same symptoms have been around for a very significant amount of time. It is not new and it certainly isn't silly if you happen to be one who really suffers from it. As for mutant, I can't say as we really don't know what causes it.

Most of the latest research leans towards a chemical imbalance in the brain that causes three main symptoms - Pain, Fatigue and Insomnia, and dozens of related symptoms.

Imagine that your whole body hurts - and not a little hurt - but as if some giant creature had tangled his claws and teeth in your insides and was apply agonizing pressure. So much pain it hurts to stand, to walk, to sit, to lay down. So much pain it hurts to breathe. And it never stops. Not for an hour. Not for a minute. Add the fatigue to that and it is like living a nightmare. That is a little bit of Fibromyalgia.

Please don't make the same mistake so many doctors and uninformed people do and dismiss Fibromyalgia as silly or imaginary. Its unfair to the people suffering from it.

I absolutely believe in Alternative Therapies and truly hope some people who are suffering find relief. I thank everyone who has contributed their experiences and what has worked for them. Thank you."

04/15/2012: Alison from Manchester, Uk replies: "i agree with rhana I suffer from fibromyalgia and its very much a real illness, my mother has suffered from this for over 20 years and was in a wheelchair for 8, I was diagnosed 3 years ago and have had some very bad times with this horrible illness, it can totally debilatate you, everyone suffers differently but I am going to try the Apple Cider Vinegar to see if it helps."

AVOID RAW FISH

SIDE EFFECT

[SIDE EFFECTS]  11/18/2009: Janet from Pasadena, Ca: "Jason Uttley's theory about fluoride poisoning causing fibromyalgia really resonates with me. I don't have fibromyalgia per say, but every so often I get a strange sensitivity, burning sensation on the tops of my legs, sometimes on my upper arms. I haven't been able to figure out what triggers this fibro pain except on two occasions. One of those occasions was today. I had seared tuna (raw sushi) on salad for lunch at a restaurant today and an hour later, I had (still have) burning on my left thigh. The other occasion was after I got a deep tissue massage. Both tops of my legs were so sensitive that if I brushed them ever so slightly the pain would be so intense I would scream. The effects lasted over 24 hours. I know raw tuna has mercury, but I don't know about fluoride. Anyone have ideas? I am going to start detoxing with Ted's borax remedy because it seems like one of the best things to remove heavy metals, fluoride and mercury. I thought I would mention this in case it solves part of the fibro mystery for someone."

BETTER BUT NOT CURED

[YEA]  05/25/2009: Denise from Biloxi, Mississippi: "Fibro/Flouride

A brief history. 7 years ago thyroid cancer, the next year adrenal fatigue then early menopause, the following year uterine prolapsed followed by hysterectomy- the following year fibromyalgia and neuropathy. Early Childhood was fluorinated water along with fluoride tablets. Fall of 2008 I was looking at total disability. I could barely walk and couldn't sleep because of the pain and was throwing up daily from the pain in my back. I was on many medications that gave me no relief and I have since found out that they had fluoride as a binding agent. I was sure that my life was over at 45, but thanks to Ted and Earthclinic I am almost at 100%. After reading about fluoride I came to understand where all of my problems originated. I had all the symptoms and reactions. It has been an uphill battle with my doctors and relatives, but you can't argue with a body that is almost pain free. I began the borax detox of 1/8 tsp in a liter of water and within 3 days my symptoms were almost gone. I watch everything I eat and can detect fluoride in vitamins, foods and drinks within 15 minutes of ingesting it. I still suffer from the neuropathy and some pain from the neuropathy but I am off all meds and I have my life. I only wish more people would try to understand the fluoride connections. My sister and mother both suffer with side effects of fluoride and I have only been able to influence my mother. I still borax 5 days on and two days off and give my body a break every month or so for about a week. Thank you :)"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  11/22/2007: Kristy from Lansing, Michigan: "Two of my kids have 'tried' to come down with colds during the last two weeks. When my son's hit, he was coughing so hard he was nearly vomiting. My daughter woke up coughing, a very sore throat and her voice was almost gone. Usually I have them do the inhaling of peroxide a few times a day and give them at least 1/4 cup of organic vinegar with 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, a little cinnamon and water each day. This time I added Borax water (1/8 teaspoon to 1 liter of water) to the mix-and their colds were gone in less than 12 hours. No one was more stunned than I was that it worked so fast! But I shouldn't have been surprised. I have had painful joints from fibromyalgia for years, but sometimes the pain in my right shoulder is almost unbearable (I'm right-handed). The last flare had been going on about 2 months and I was getting very little sleep, which was what spurred my finally giving in and trying the Borax. Within three days the severe pain was gone and I was back to just the normal pain! Now I just need to make myself drink it EVERY day and maybe all the pain will go away.

But, back to the original subject, everyone says there is no cure for the common cold. After what we saw earlier this month, I have to disagree!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  09/08/2007: Pamela from City Withheld, Washington: "I have suffered with Fibromyalgia/Rosacea and TMJ for over 10 years... My first symptoms appeared shortly after I began taking Paxil. After about 8 months when I found the Paxil side effects intolerable, my doctor switched me to Prozac. Well...within 2 years, I had gained 75 pound, couldn't get my temperature to a normal 98.6 (it wouldn't budge above 96.6), broke out with a fierce case of Rosacea (skin blistering & pealing in layers off my cheeks), was chronically fatigued and suffered from TMJ symptoms.

After reading the FLUORIDE information on EarthClinc and researching the chemical formulas of the many antidepressants that I had taken over the last 10 years, I had an epiphany...My problem was FLUORIDE!!! Incidentally, the' symptoms of FLUORIDE TOXICITY are the same as Fibromyalgia so it wasn't surprising to learn that FLUORIDE is the primary ingredient in MANY widely prescribed antidepressants, including PAXIL and PROZAC!!!

Without delay, I began adding 1/8 tsp of BORAX and 1/8 tsp of NATURAL (UN-bleached) SEA SALT to a liter of
DE-CLORINATED water. This regimine just happens to both neutralize the FLUORIDE and KILL the nasty mites that cause Rosacea.

I began drinking 1 liter per day for 5 days. On the 2 off days, I simply drank purified, bottled spring water.

The results were nothing short of MIRACULOUS, within two weeks my face cleared, the redness faded and best of all, my temperature normalized TO 98.6 and my energy level began to steadily increased. (Do expect the break out to get worse before it gets better as the mites die off.)

In just one month, without dieting or changing my daily routine (other than adding BORAX & SEA SALT to my drinking water), I dropped 4 pounds and I continue to drop weight at about a pound a week. I attribute this to my increased body temperature and elevated metabolism.

ALSO...when I eliminated the FLUORIDE in my toothpaste, my gums stopped swelling and bleeding and all PREVIOUS phantom tooth/jaw pain simply disappeared.

Thank you, EarthClinc and Ted...The information you shared has truely been a blessing in my life...I wholeheartedly encourage anyone that is suffering with FIBROMYALGIA, CHRONIC FATIGUE, TMJ or ROSACEA to try this simple remedy as I have had only POSITIVE results and absolutely NO SIDE EFFECTS!!!

Incidently, this BORAX & SEA SALT water is extremely ALKALINE with a pH between 8 - 9 pH."

BETTER BUT NOT CURED

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  05/29/2010: Carly from Seattle, Wa Usa: "Please do a web search on D-Ribose and Fibromyalgia if you have FMS.

I was dx with FMS over 20 years ago, and know what a beast it is.

I started taking D-Ribose about 2 months ago, and am totally sold on it. It is expensive, (MO) so I finally broke down and bought a big container in bulk from a web-site I found. It is the most economical way to go.

I take one teaspoon in water 3x a day. It is a natural sugar that somehow helps the mitochondria in your muscles to recover. Like I said, you need to do a web search and read about it yourself. I can't explain why it works scientifically. I just know it WORKS.

I also take: (for past 6 months or longer)

ACV (apple cider vinegar) 2tbsp with 1/2 tsp of baking soda every morning. It seems to give me energy on a daily basis. It also reduces heavy menstrual flow on the "bad days" - on these days I drink all throughout the day.

3tbsp Extra Virgin Coconut Oil per day.
(Start SLOW or you will have an upset stomach!)
This is the only oil I ingest - I also put it on my skin after a shower every morning. Buy the best you can afford, and it must be white - not gray colored. The white stuff is the good stuff!

Other things -

400mg Magnesium
2000iu Vitamin D3
2000mg Vitamin C
DIM (google that - good for estrogen metabolism!)
Progesta-care complete...Natural progesterone cream

I am a 49 year old woman with NO signs of menopause or peri-menopause. I am feeling pretty good, even with the FMS. Have not had a flare since I started the D-ribose.

Good luck to you if you have FMS - I know how horrible it is, and how much we all suffer - for the most part in silence due to most people not understanding.

FMS is one cr@ppy syndrome!

Carly"

Within 2 DAYS, my pain was gone, so was the brain fog, the exhaustion and the terrible anxiety that I used to feel surge up in me for no reason at all. I personally feel that Fibromyalgia is related to menopause, which even men experience to a lesser degree, but that is my theory. Instead, I now feel energetic, pain-free and almost euphoric, although nothing in my life has changed except for the reduction and elimination of the FM symptoms! I stopped taking it for three days, to evaluate its affect on me and WHAM, the terrible pain in the pressure points (particularly my back) returned with a vengeance. I am taking this stuff forever, if I have to. I now am cutting the tablet in half, as I noticed my breasts were swelling and slightly tender to the touch occasionally, as if I were starting my period and that eliminated that symptom. (I have been without a period now for about 4 years and I am 56). That was very little discomfort compared to Fibro symptoms, however. I haven't felt this good in years! DHEA is a precursor to progesterone, estrogen and testosterone (meaning it enables your body to make the above hormones again). I am not cured, but I feel SO much better, I wake up every day and THANK GOD!"

[WARNING!]  01/05/2011: Ellen from Austin, Tx replies: "Be careful about taking DHEA without a proper saliva hormone test and/or guidance of a naturopathic doctor. I have fibromyalgia and my DHEA levels were actually HIGH. I could have done some serious damage by taking more."

11/21/2008: Cindy from Kansas, USA: "Fluoride remedy? I'm wondering if anyone has tried diatomaceous earth for fibromyalgia? I stumbled upon some references to its ability to capture and bind fluoride and its use as a water filter. I consume food grade DE occassionally but I don't suffer from fibromyalgia. I'm not suggesting it but I'd like to know if anyone has tried it for this particular problem."

The DE works great for parasites but does nothing to relieve or get rid of fibromyalgia. I also know several others with fibromyalgia who used DE with no relieve. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and keep up the good the good work."
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  09/14/2011: Laura from Asheville, Nc replies: "I have fibromyalgia and have been taking Diatomaceouls Earth for almost 2 weeks. It is definitly doing something positive for me. First I noticed a huge change in my foot problem that has plagued me for 4 years. I have woke up stiff, but that is different too. I don't know how to describe it except that the stiffness is not to the bone and all encompasing as before. I am so hopeful that I may continue to improve. If it is possible different factors contribute to Fibro for different people, I guess different results could be experienced from individuals also. My experience would lead me to suggest, try it and see how your body responds if you suffer any joint or fibro pain. Good luck to you all!"

[YEA]  12/29/2009: Kelsie from Springville, Ut: "Misdiagnosis

I was sure I had Fibromyalgia; my joints and muscles were always inflamed and by the end of the day I could hardly walk. It turns out I actually have Celiac disease which is also an autoimmune disorder, but by eliminating gluten from my diet, I felt 100% better in just one week. I have felt like crap for 7 years and can't believe I didn't try eliminating wheat sooner. If you have joint and muscle pain and other symptoms of Fibro, it's definitely worth a try and very easy."

I have suffered from Fibromyalgia(among other health issues) since July 2004, when my child was born. Since going off of Gluten in the last 5 months, my levels are way down, and for the most part stay down. I'm still tender, but the constant pain has gone down to almost nothing, which is a huge relief. I don't have CD, but a Gluten intolerance or sensitivity. Either which can cause multiple health issues in multiple systems of your body at the same time. There are over 300 conditions that are linked to Gluten issues. I highly recommend everyone to avoid gluten (products with wheat, wheat flour, barley, or rye). Your health is likely to improve in a short time. At the very least you'll lose weight easily and get healthier than you were. There are many other whole grains out there which are healthier for us and don't cause the mal-absorption issues that gluten does."

[YEA]  03/06/2008: Emilia from Atlanta, GA: "I've had CFS for about 6 years and in the past few months I've made a remarkable recovery. In my case underlying causes were food sensitivities (dairy and corn) and PBB poisoning as well as metal toxicity. In Michigan in the 70s a chemical company accidentally dumped PBB into cattle feed and it got into the food chain. Working with my kinesiologist I've done a lot of detoxing and now am up to about 75% of the energy I used to have. I got rid of my aluminum cookware. This year I'll have my metal (mercury) fillings replaced. The headaches and other conditions like IBS are gone. CFS and fibromyalgia seem to be related to the body being filled with toxins more than its able to handle. That explains why conventional medicine can't figure out what the cause it -- it's a different set of causes for every individual. Still, anything you can to do detox should help, and look for food intolerances as well."

08/11/2010: Cindy from Tallahassee, Florida, Usa replies: "BINGO! FMS/CFS suffer here... I can't take narcotic pain meds, so I've been doing a lot of research on natural ways to cope and improve the symptoms. Regarding dietary changes, I have been watching some documentaries regarding the effects of chemicals in our food chain. They support what I've been suspicious of for some time. I'm also learning from posts like yours about other toxic chemicals like aluminum, plastics, and fluoride. As a result of finding this site, I am on my 5th. Day of using ACV, eliminating all artificial sweeteners and most sugar out of my diet as well as MSG. I'm drinking distilled water and eating more healthfully. My question is... I have a filtered water pitcher and didn't know if this is a safe alternative to tap water, so I'm drinking distilled water until I find out for sure. While at the store yesterday, I read the box from a filter for my pitcher and it said it delivers a safe level of fluoride for health. I bought the filter, but won't use it until I find out if it's safe. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thank you! Cindy"
08/12/2010: Jay from Toronto, Ont, Canada replies: "Cindy, I have been using only distilled water for drinking( with the only exceptions being occasional fruit or vegetable juices) over 15 years now. In my opinion there are way too many differemt substances that are in the ground water of our planet to ever think that filtering will remove them. Only the distillation process completely eliminates a vast number of them. Again, in my opinion filtering is a cosmetic treatment and is promoted mainly based on taste, appearance and a few pollutants only. There are some that suggest distilled water will leach out minerals from your body but again I feel that it is great if distilled water leaches out materials then it could also possibly leach out other sourced toxins from the body. For those that don't feel they already ingest enough good and necessary amounts of minerals they can add a small quantity of sea salt to the containers of distilled water to provide safe trace minerals. Regards"
08/12/2010: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "From the information I have read, no level of fluoride is safe for the health. As far as I know, fluoridation has been forbidden for many years here in Europe. Still, my daughters, born in Holland after that were prescribed fluoride tablets by their pediatrician for many years. Nowadays I avoid anything which contains fluoride, especially toothpaste but even the floss contains fluoride and salt at well. One has to read all the labels! Water here in France seems to be quite bad (and expensive too! ) so we have a Brita filter on the tap but when we buy our own house we want to have a well and maybe have a system to filtrate it and use only that water."
06/21/2011: Lynn from Somewhere, Nevada replies: "Fluoride is found naturally in the water in many places in the world. I know a family of 5 children who were all conceived and grew to adulthood in an area where there is a lot of fluoride in the water. They all had wonderful teeth and bones, no cavities. Three of them lived into their 90s, one over 100, and the fifth one to age 79 even tho having suffered rheumatic fever in her teens. People were having fibro, although not called that, long before fluoride was added to drinking water. I think we need to look elsewhere for our problems."

DIETARY CHANGES, ACUPRESSURE

09/10/2009: Dianne from Missoula Mt, Mt: "I had fibromyalgia for several years I did 2 things that seem to have cleared most of my symptoms.

1) I detoxed my life style (as much as I can):I eat only organic, No GMO foods, no preservative filled foods , no refined sugars, no artificial sweeteners, no harsh chemical cleaning products, no table salt, no nonstick cook pans, no florinated or chlorinated water, I take only organic hemeopathic and herbal medicines and (this is a biggy) I get lots of vitimin D from sunlight.

2) I use self applied acupressure EFT(Emotional Freedom Techniques) and MTT (Meridian Tapping Techniques)every day to clear the stress and anxiety from my mind and body.

I must tell you it has been effective for me and my family as well. I used MTT to ease my baby's teething pain and it worked great. I was so pleased with my results that I taught EFT to everyone who would listen to me.t is quick to learn, easy to apply and works fast.

There are tons of places on the internet where you can learn more about EFT & MTT, the manuals are free. Simply look up MTT & EFT.

[YEA]  07/10/2010: Sandy from Clearwater, Florida: "Dear Ted,

A few months ago someone told me about this site, so I started reading as much as possible in an attempt to figure out what was wrong with me. It seemed that every time I read something that sparked my interest you wrote it. About 3 years ago I became very sick crippled in bed with pain in my hole body. It felt like electrical shocks traveling threw my veins. I also experienced what I will call hot spots mainly in my left arm which I was not able to move with out pain for many months. I went threw test after test to be told all where normal. Finally I was told by an infectious disease doctor that I had undiagnosed lymes and probably had it for many years. I was given antibiotics and began to feel a little better. I have had many tick bites since I love the woods. My primary Doctor told me there was nothing wrong with me and suggested I get psychiatric help but at the same time he sent me to another Doctor and after a 2 minute examination he told me I had Fibromyalga. At that point I lost all faith in medical doctors. I spent many years learning to deal with the pain and just adjusted to the fact that if I was able to function for a day the next 2 days I would be bed ridden. Each day I had to force myself out of bed it was an effort just to get to the bathroom. There is a lot more to my story but I will get to the point. I finally decided to try DMSO and with in 5 days of taking a half of teaspoon I have no pain and the energy of a 3 year old child. I still have the numbness in my left index finger and thumb and tickling up my arm. But to be pain free after all these years is a miracle! If you have time to write back I can give you more details of other doctors findings concerning my spine and hips. I am afraid to continue with the DMSO for I don't know if it will cause other problems. Please write back with your advise.

Thank You!"

FLUORIDE CONNECTION

Ratings:
1
BETTER BUT NOT CURED

09/13/2008: Jenny Clark from Charlottesville, Virginia: "Most patients with fibromyalgia/CFS report that it began after surgery or after a car accident. Many of the anesthesias used in surgery, including epidurals for childbirth, are fluorinated. The sudden entry of a high level of fluoride is likely what starts the condition. Anti-inflammatories are another commonly fluorinated set of drugs drug, and car accident victims are likely reacting to their medication when they develop fibromyalgia. Prozac, Paxil, Lipitor and many other drugs are fluorinated. The name of the drug does NOT always have "fl" in it.

India has been living with the effects of fluorosis for years. We can learn important lessons from them. India has high levels of fluoride in the water and soil, and they have the exact opposite image of fluoride than those in the US. They are currently working to defluorinate their water supply and they are asking US toothpaste companies to leave. They report that "donor" countries have been encouraging fluoridation there. Physicians in India would diagnose fibromyalgia with a different name: a non-skeletal phase of fluorosis, where fluoride affects the soft tissues of the body. Too arrogant to learn from our world friends, we invented our own diagnosis. Patients in India who present to a physician with GI disturbance, muscle pain, headaches, fatigue and cognitive decline are immediately recognized as having fluorosis.

The US not only helped to create the fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue problem here with the fluorination of drugs, we've missed the diagnosis for 50 years.

A noted fluoride toxicologist in India recommends a blood test called SA/GAG that offers a definitive diagnosis. I am trying to see if that is available in the US through some physicians I know.

Most importantly, we can learn from the effective treatments used in India today. Removal of fluoride from the diet, supplementation with calcium, magnesium and vitamin C. This simple treatment appears to be working and their physicians say fluorosis is reversible if caught early. How many of us wish we had known this sooner!

After 50 years of studying what happens when you drink a toxin, it makes more sense to simply keep the toxin out of your body."

09/14/2008: Teresa from Kenedy, Texas replies: "I really appreciate this information. I suffer with Chronic Fatique and will definitely be sharing this info with family and friends that also suffer from it. It is hard to get others to believe that flouride is a dangerous toxin, because it is so drilled into us through commercials and from our dentist that it is necessary for us to use it to prevent cavities. Many have the opinion that if the FDA says it's safe for us, then we should not worry. I stopped using flouride about a year ago, and am wondering after using it for 30 plus years, how long it takes to get the effects of it to go away. I am supplementing with calcium, magnesium and vitamin C and have seen some improvement, but there are days that I have no energy whatsover.

Thank you again for posting this information."
12/31/2010: Ellen from Austin, Texas replies: "I cut out fluoride a long time ago, and I've been taking magnesium, calcium, and vitamin C for years before and after my fibromyalgia diagnosis. I don't think there's a connection for me, unless I just need to detox from the fluoride. I'm confused about this fluoride connection since mostly women have fibromyalgia and everyone drinks tap water with fluoride."
03/28/2011: Causes Not Bandaids from London, Uk replies: "Ellen, from what I've read on this site alone, flouride will stay in the system unless you do something to get rid of it, its not enough to stop the intake. Also, I read there is a link to women taking a lot of flouride based antibiotics for urinary tract infection, which I guess they're more prone to. It's also been suggested that more men than once thought suffer with it as it becomes more widely known and diagnosed. Perhaps its not as straightforward as we'd like, there may be other triggers or factors as well perhaps...?"
04/26/2011: Ellen from Denton, Tx replies: "For me, the issue is definitely not with fluoride. I have been detoxing fluoride for months and the only thing that has helped me is anti-viral therapy, which makes sense as my fibromyalgia developed after a bout of the swine flu.

Fibromyalgia is not a new disease. In fact Charles Darwin had fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. It was described as what Job had in the bible and there are ancient Greek /Roman accounts of fibromyalgia as well. It was only recently given its most modern name. It did not appear upon the advent of fluoride in municipal water supplies and antibiotics. For some, it could be the cause, but unfortunately there is no magic bullet cause and cure and we all have to figure out what works best for us and what our individual issues are. Mine were viral and metal toxicity issues as well as yeast."

04/27/2011: Robyn from Melbourne, Australia replies: "Ellen, I developed fms, cfs, mcs which has led to osteoperosis, blocked arteries etc etc its a real mess after glandular fever, barvon forest, ross river virus. What have you been doing to kill the virus? Ive done everything on here - garlic, colloidal silver, etc etc and yes, some antibiotics just to ruin my gut some more. Have you heard of Marshalls protocol - is that what you are suggesting?"
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  05/14/2011: Ellen from Denton, Tx replies: "Robyn, I have been taking a multi-pronged approach of destroying biofilms that pathogens hide in with enzymes, boosting the immune system with IP6 inositol, AHCC, vitamins D, E, A, B's, zinc, E, taking thieves oil internally & applying externally, detoxing metals with sodium thiosulfate & DMSA, etc. I'm not 100% but I think I'm making a slow but sure recovery. I used to be so bad that I thought I was dying and now I can go hiking. I also drink borax as suggested on the site, and ACV baking soda. I'm not sure if the ACV baking soda does anything. (please email me at s. Genteel85(at)gmail.com if you have any questions)"
02/07/2012: Robyn from Melbourne, Australia replies: "I can't believe I've been combing this site for 2 years and never looked on this page. I've done all you are recommending except the dmsa. I've had edta IV and orally and every other detox - except ala - have it to take the way Bill recommends but Andy cutler takes it quite differently. Some say it's dangerous. Is anyone of the belief that this is a brain injury? Is anyone using Gupta successfully? It hasn't helped me which makes me think my fms must be something else."

GENERAL FEEDBACK

02/18/2011: Gingermegs from Sydney, Nsw, Australia: "Fibromyalgia Questionnaire & Results

Hi EC,

I was looking at some of the results of your older questionnaires and you had included a question about long-standing viruses. It seems to be missing from current questionnaire.

I have autoimmune, sjogrens, Raynauds and arthristis issues which are worsening. I am also battling shingles and herpes. Many of the older questionaire replies mentioned shingles, epstein Barr, Mono etc. which I think could be a leading cause. Please correct your current questionnaire to include the virus question, or ask about chickenpox and herpes. I think it could be useful info. Thanks, Dot (Sydney)"

EC: Thanks for the suggestion, Dot. Can't remember the exact reason why, but we removed that particular question from the fibro questionnaire a couple of years ago. I agree with you, however, and have asked the programmer to add it back into the form.

10/31/2011: Mary from Loveland, Oh replies: "I was diagnosed with fibro 11 yrs ago, after a year and a half journey thru the medical system (4 doctors later) before I received a final diagnosis. I tried everything and researched the subject extensively when able.

This last year, I have been occassionally researching high dose vit D3 therapy. After moving from NM to OH recently, the change in climates affected me so adversely, I decided to try D3.

In looking back at my medical history, I suffered from SADS growing up and felt I was a good candidate for such therapy, if there was anything to it.

I have to say, having tried everything available on the market over the years, high dose D3 has had a remarkable improvement for me in numerous ways.

1. Better quality and uninterupted sleep cycles.

2. Dramatic reduction in pain

3. Energy is improving

4. Cognitive skills are improving.

(This has only been 2 weeks therapy for me)

I just started ACV and am working on upping my magnesium intake, since many people with fibro report improvement with mag. I will be trying magnesium chloride and mag lactate (for muscle cramps) since my research shows they are the most absorbable forms.

I am taking 70, 000 IUs of D3, 3x's a week, mind you I do this without doctor supervision, however don't let my disillusionment with the medical profession disuade anyone from seeking physicians that are knowledgable in high dose D3 therapy. The research I have read recommends 50, 000 IUs to as much as a 100, 000. 50, 000 IUs had no affect on me. Timing schedules also varied but seems to be consistant in terms of longation of a 6 month time frame due to the fact that D3 can be toxic to some in high doses and some people cannot tolerate high dose D3 either due to gastro intestinal discomfort or diaharrea.

I would be interested to know if anyone else has tried D3 and what results they have had."

02/18/2012: Hertsman from Feltham, Middlesex replies: "Why do people keep posting remedies on here without giving product information, doses and quantities? Like one chap mentions acetyl l-carnitine with alpha lipoic acid??? Great so what are the doses, what product etc etc. Without these vital details it is completely pointless information."
02/18/2012: Kelly from Cambridge, Ma replies: "I could not agree more!

I love this site and visit it every day, but am (very) often left frustrated with the non-specific information provided by many posters.

As you pointed out, it does none of us any good for people to post about something (or a combination of 'somethings') that helped them when they don't also include what amounts they took, how often they took it, etc.

It would be great if EC could create spaces for this info on the feedback form. Perhaps underneath the subject line, they could include "Quantity Taken (i. E. 2 tsp. )", "How Often? (i. E. Once per day, 3x per day?)

It would be *so* helpful."

02/18/2012: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "I don't think you are taking the site for what it is.. Just normal people try to help others with remedies. Even if dosages were given in all cases that would not necessarily help you. For instance you know nothing about the person posting the remedy - what they weigh, what their lifestyle is, what else they are taking that may act in synergy with something else. You just have to take in the information and work it around yourself if you want to, as best you can.

Most supplements recommended have the dosage recommended on the bottle so take that dosage first.

All in all you have to research, research, research."

02/18/2012: Kelly from Cambridge, Ma replies: "Debbie - I absolutely do understand that this site is about people helping others. Actually, it was IN that realm that I made the suggestion of including pertinent information to posts, rather than things like, "Coconut oil helped me lose weight" or "Banana peel got rid of my plantar's wart. " That doesn't "help" anyone without more information.

I wasn't referring to supplements where the dosages are on the labeling. That's a no-brainer.

I was referring to things like the examples I gave above, where how much coconut oil and how often it was taken would be very helpful for readers, or how often the banana peel was used in treating the plantar's wart, etc. That very pertinent info would at least give readers a place to start."

02/19/2012: Francisca from Zug, Switzerland replies: "I agree with Kelly. If the person advising a protocol, natural beauty product or whatever gives as much information as possible about what worked for them it stops us from coming back over and over again for details and it helps us as a starting point! I agree with Debbie that we are all different but following what says on the bottle of the supplements more often than not helps no one as the dosages are usually completely wrong! And often, if we are talking about own concotions we won't have any idea about what to do! Maybe I am also guilty of not being specific enough, I don't know but I will sure pay more attention to that! Things like how many times a day, with water or without, with the meals or without, how much of each ingredient, anything that might help other mimic whatever we did! "
02/19/2012: Cameron from Brisbane, Qld, Australia replies: "Yes. If you are posting post the specifics please."
02/20/2012: Jennywren from Perth, Western Australia, Australia replies: "Hear hear! We should follow the journo's code of the 5 W's - who, what, where, when and why (and how long! ) when it comes to giving out advice on these boards. It would save so much time and I try to do this as much as I can when doling out tips."
