06/08/2009: Holly from Sydney, Australia: "How do I get the whites of my eyes to be clear and white? Also, there's a little fat ball in my left eye - how would I go about getting that to reduce and ultimately disappear. Thanks."Replies
06/09/2009: Tavora from Brooklyn, NY replies: "When I was having a lot of redness in my eyes (along with some blurred vision) I started taking a high quality lemon bioflavonoid supplement. Within a week - the redness went away....and the blurriness subsided significantly. But if you're looking for faster results - try drinking a quart of a green smoothie a day - works wonders!! Google it. There's tons of info online.

03/01/2009: Anne from Dublin, Ireland: "Hi: Can you please tell me if you know of any remedies to help Stargadt's Disease, it's a genetic condition leading to degenerative vision. I'm an acupuncturist and the info is for a client of mine I've just started treating. She's a real sweetheart and so sad to have her vision disappearing so young. So really any tips you might have would be fantastic!

12/07/2011: Cekms from Adelaide, South Australia: "Hi Ted / Earth Clinic followers:
I have inflammatory arthritis (neg Rheum factor & neg B-27) which is in remission since I started embrel 5 weeks ago. Before I went on Embrel I took a course of Prednisalone to calm down a CRP of 49. When I came off Pred, my eyes started to become bloodshot. I then went on Embrel about two weeks later and this has not fixed the scleritis which is so bad in my right eye now, I am off work for two weeks with no signs of improvement. They now want me on MTX also.
What could be setting of this scleritis so bad, considering I have had this inflammatory condition for 2 years and never had any issues with my eyes.
Also what could I be doing to improve or stop doing if there are known causes that make scleritis worse?
Physically I am training and eat healthy, I look forward to your reply TED.
06/06/2011: Willie from Orlando, Florida: "Hello, hoping someone can offer a remedy. I have been diagnosed with recurring scleritis. (inflamation in the white part of the eye) I am a 41 yr old male. I have had this all my life. It has progressively gotten more frequent in past years. I have been taking 2 200mg of celebrex for two years. The celebrex works and I have no eye problem as long as I take the celebrex. Any suggestions on a natural approach. Celebrex will eventually ruin my liver and kidneys."
Sea Salt Baths, Flax Seed Oil
[YEA] 08/03/2009: Pete from Brampton, On Canada: "I went to an "eye-dolligist" for extreme dry skin problem. (sever athlete's foot + Jock Itch) was told to start adding 2 cups of Organic Sea Salt to bath water (use only luke warm water, not steaming hot) must sit in bath for 1 hour. Did this twice a week for 4 weeks and both problems are gone. It has been 3 months now and no return. For my dry skin I am also taking 2 tablespoons of organic flax seed oil morning and night. My skin now is soft and smooth as silk.
hope this helps"
11/15/2010: Calamity from New Albany, Indiana/usa: "I don't have a cure for anything, but I'm desperate to find one. Does anyone know of anything to speed up healing of swollen cornea after cataract surgery. Besides Acular and Pred Forte. My simple cataract surgery went wrong somehow and now I'm told I will just have to wait out the blurriness and "walking around in a fish bowl vision" till swelling goes down. I'm almost two weeks into post op and now half blind and going crazy! I wish I hadn't done it!"Replies
11/16/2010: Mmsg from Somewhere, Europe replies: "Try "eye formula" from a health food store. (the one with a bit of cayenne in it). We use it topically, one drop in an "eye bath" full of warm water. It took down eyeball swelling in two days."
Swollen Eyeball Remedies
08/24/2013: Kandj from Maryland: "A friend in his early 40's has been having problems with swollen eyeballs. He says it's not a thyroid issue. First, only one eyeball was bothering him. The eyeball isn't protruding, but you could tell that one eyeball was slightly larger than the other. He says it feels tender, sore, and could feel pressure in the eye. It's been that way approximately 2 years that I know of. Now, he's starting to experience similar symptoms in the other eye. Both eyes water/tear occassionally (one at a time, but not both at the same time) for apparently no reason. He doesn't have money for doctor's visits, prescriptions, testing, etc. So he seems to just suffer through. I know he has diabetes, high BP, and cholesterol issues he takes meds for. I'm not sure exactly what he takes, and I also know he has year-long allergies (clearing throat, runny/stuffy nose, etc. ) Any ideas what could be causing the swollen eyeballs or what he can do for relief?"Replies
08/24/2013: Mama To Many from Tennessee, Usa replies: "Hi! Charcoal would be an inexpensive thing to try for this. I do not know the cause but could guess it is a side effect of medication or reaction to something. Whatever it is, it is inflammation of some sort and charcoal is very helpful for that. He should get some activated charcoal powder at the health food store and some ground flax seed. Mix equal parts of both in a cup. (Careful as it is poofy and can be messy. ) Then add water and stir until you get a thin jelly like consistency. Spread this onto a paper towel (You can make several at once. ) Fold towel over. Cover the closed eye with the poultice. Cover with plastic wrap to keep charcoal moist. Cover with a bandana to hold it on. This could be done for an hour twice a day, or overnight. (The plastic wrap won't be needed for the one hour poultice.) I would give this treatment at least 2 weeks before deciding it doesn't work.
Since Apple Cider Vinegar is inexpensive and helps many things, it would be worth it for him to try it. 1 t. Raw apple cider vinegar in 8 oz. of water twice a day, increasing over a couple of weeks to 1 T. In 8 oz. Twice a day. This ought to be done for at least a month to see what it does.
Improving nutrition helps with most health issues. Less sugar, processed food, fast food, no artificial sweeteners or MSG. More fruits and veggies. Less caffeine.
Let us know how your friend is doing.

08/24/2013: Toourlady89 from Ca, Usa replies: "According to Google, swollen eyeballs could be one other symptom of pollen allergies, or his own type of allergies that has progressed to his eye/ eyes. Ice compress over the eye x 15 minutes at a time so many times during the day could help and also taking his anti allergy meds regularly. In addition, try to rest up the eyes whenever he could and try not to strain it."
08/24/2013: Cat from Tauranga, New Zealand, New Zealand replies: "It was only the other day that I posted a comment about how I had been suffering the allergies of sneezing/watery and itchy eyes and so much that the eyes (mainly one) became swollen and very red. After taking MSM for another reason, by the next day, all those symptoms had disappeared! I firmly believe the MSM was responsible for clearing this up. I could almost handle the sneezing but the itchy watery eyes was another story. Still, if your friend is diabetic and on all types of medication, then chances are, he's having side effects from those so it could be a difficult one to fix. But worth a try if you can get hold of some. Good luck."
08/28/2013: Kandj from Maryland replies: "Many thanks to all. I've passed along your suggestions and hope something will help."
11/06/2011: Rada1980 from Palatine, Il, Usa: "HELLO,
My dauther have UVEITIS so please if you have suggestions please advise. Should I put her on gluten free food ? She doesn't have arthritis, doctors couldn't find nothing wrong in her body. Please help!"Replies
11/06/2011: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "A good thing to try would be colloidal silver. Here is an article of a vet curing his horse's uveitis using colloidal silver as eye drops. I would think it would work the same in humans.
05/19/2009: Janine from Bradford, Yorkshire, England: "A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with uveitis I m using conventional treatment for it and it is working but was wondering if oil pulling would help? Also do you know of anything that would help with this condition please to prevent it coming back, tests have been done on me to see if there is an underlying cause but all have come back clear. I'm breastfeeding too at the moment so any remedies would have to be safe for breastfeeding.
thank you Janine."
EC: "Uveitis specifically refers to inflammation of the middle layer of the eye, termed the "uvea" but in common usage may refer to any inflammatory process involving the interior of the eye, with inflammation specifically of the uvea termed iridocyclitis." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uveitis
06/09/2011: Kay from Jax, Fl/usa: "About 8 years ago, I developed floaters in one of my eyes. When these floaters caused me to see light streaks in a dark room, I knew I had to go to a retina specialist. I had a tear in my retina which was fixed by laser surgery. Never had a problem since in that eye even the small floaters(blood) disappeared after a while.
recently, in my other eye, I got floaters and the flashes of light I a dark room. Went to another eye doc who said I had Vitreous Detachment which is when the gel which is attached to the retina detaches leaving a small hole in the retina which causes the flashes of light. Doc says no cure come back in 6 weeks. If it get worse which means the retina could tear or become detached, call for emergency. The symptoms would be a "veil" or dark shade falls over my eye which bottom line means I am going blind. Has anyone had the Vtreous detachment or have found something which cures or prevents this from happening? Just curious. They all say these things come with age, probably true as I am in my 60's."Replies

OR BEING AS ITS SUCH A SHORT THREAD SCROLL DOWN TILL YOU COME TO TED'S MIXTURE FOR HYALURONIC ACID. IN IT HE SAYS TO ADD SEA SALT BUT IT NEEDS TO BE CELTIC SEA SALT OR GET HIMALYAN PINK SALT WHICH IS EVEN BETTER IN MY VEIW. YOU CAN GET EITHER 1 FROM A HEALTH SHOP OR ON LINE. THE DISC PROTACOL IS THE SAME AS YOU NEED TO FIX YOUR EYE.
BE PATIENT IT WON'T HAPPEN OVER NIGHT, BUT SOME PEOPLE WITH YOUR PROBLEM HAVE HAD GOOD RESULTS IN 2 TO 3 WEEKS, SOME A BIT LONGER. DON'T USE SUPER MARKET SEA SALT IT BEEN BLEACHED WHITE AND NO MINERALS IN IT. ALSO YOU MUST USE DISTILLED WATER. IF YOU READ THE WHOLE THREAD OTHER POSTS WILL TELL YOU WHAT TO DO AND LOOK FOR WHEN MIXING IT AND WHERE TO BUY IT. HOPE THIS HELPS. LOVE ANDREA C X X X"
06/11/2011: Jane from St Andrews, Uk replies: "Kay, in case this is any help to you: three years ago I realised I had suddenly had flashes, like little fireworks going off, in one eye. Knowing this could be a symptom of retinal trouble, I went to an eye hospital where they diagnosed that the vitreous jelly at the back of the eye had detached in all but one place, to the side of the retina, and the flashes were little areas of blood, that would disperse, as would the floaters that appeared at the same time. I had no symptom of retinal detachment, the curtain descending over the vision, and, in time, have simply been left with one permanent floater, unfortunately in the centre of my vision in that eye.
For a long while, it was always at the back of my mind that something further could go wrong. However, I have now been reassured by an eye surgeon that it is a good thing when the vitreous jelly detaches like this (I believe it shrinks with age and if you are lucky you know nothing about this! ) as it means it hasn't caused problems with the retina.
My other eye, separately and later, developed a macular hole when the vitreous jelly there shrank and did pull at the retina. I have recently had an operation to mend that, along with cataract surgery, and, prophylactically, laser repair of the retina, where something called 'lattice' was discovered during the operation. Lattice is where the retina is thin, or has tears, or holes. My surgeon tells me there is now nothing to worry about from that.
I tell you that not to worry you about what can happen, but in case this reassures you about what has happened in your eye, because I now realise how lucky I was that the vitreous jelly in the first eye detached as it did.
Good luck. I hope all is well with you. I know how worrying it can be to have this happen.
I have to say how lucky I am to live in Scotland where I not only get excellent treatment at a teaching hospital but also on the national health. I shudder to think what would happen if I had to pay for every consultation and procedure and, perhaps, every phone call when something happens that I need to ask about. I know some people in the US worry about state control of health, but a national health system is a WONDERFUL thing.
Again, all the best."
06/13/2011: Kay from Jax, Fl/usa replies: "Thank you Jane and Andrea for your comments! Here's what I have found to be very interesting;
Andrea you mentioned Bill Sardi well I haven't had a chance to look him up, but I did see where you mentioned to look up Degenerative Disk Disease for the eye fix. I also found out I have DDD!
Jane from St. Andrews, thank you for your comments. Yes, my Retina Specialist told me it was good news about the Vitreous Detachment! But ofcourse gave me the warning about the Veil, etc. I did want to mention that the technician asked me alot about Lipitor which I just started taking again in January after not taking it for a couple of years. I googled retina problems with Lipitor and apparently this is common. Now, weighing this out, I started thinking, it could just be a coincidence. Now here's is something else, my sister is diabetic. She was extremely overweight and had the eye problems which come with being diabetic, took lipitor, etc. She had the gastric bypass surgery and lost a tremendous amount of weight. Although still diabetic but taking as much if any drugs as her sugar level dropped with the weight. No more Lipitor. Well her eyes have cleared up. Now ofcourse this could have been related to the diabetes, but now I wonder if the eye's clearing up had to do with her stopping the Lipitor.
I wonder in the medical field if any surveys have been done for patients who are NOT DIABETIC but are on Lipitor and have retina problems. This would be interesting to know.
Does anyone know?"

07/04/2011: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "Kay, I had a similar problem in my left eye last summer. I am 53 years old. All of a sudden I started to see a lot more floaters than normal and light flashes. I went to a very good eye hospital in Switzerland and they said that it was healing itself so there was nothing they could do. If it got worse and a courtain came over my vision I was supposed to go there right away. It is not nice to live waiting for it to happen and sometimes I do see flashes in the dark but well, I don't think they can do much more than wait and see..... I know of someone here in France who has had laser treatment but you never know whether it was the exact same problem. I wish I knew what I could do to prevent it from getting worse. I am very myopic and that doesn't help! I always knew that this could come but I didn't expect it so early in life! All the best..."
Watery Eyes Remedies
01/20/2014: Lucinda from Leeds: "My eyes water 24/7, I'm not allergic to anything, and I don't wear mascara. This has been going on for just under 2 years and I'm constantly having to dry and touch my eyes. I have been to the doctors and hospital but they can't seem to find a problem. I will try anything!"Replies
01/21/2014: Mama To Many from Tennessee, Usa replies: "Dear Lucinda,
Eyes watering all the time for two years would be very irritating! If I were dealing with this and had no idea the cause, I would try one or more of the following:
Charcoal "tea" - Make an activated charcoal tea. Mix 1 teaspoon activated charcoal powder into 4 ounces of water. Let sit a few minutes. Strain out the charcoal through a coffee filter. The remaining water is your charcoal "tea." Put two drops of this into each eye twice a day. Charcoal has successfully treated many eye problems, even ones that have been told were "incurable." This is very safe and inexpensive. Charcoal water has a shelf life of many months.
The herb "eyebright" was given its name because people in the past knew if was good for eye problems. You can make a "tea" of this and put some drops into your eyes a couple of times a day. This could be done in conjunction with the charcoal tea, but perhaps try one for a week or two and then try the other. Eyebright tea would be good for 2-3 days if kept in the refrigerator. You may be able to find an eye bright tincture at a health food store and could follow directions on the label, instead of the eyebright tea.
Raw Unpasteurized apple cider vinegar - 1 teaspoon in a glass of water twice a day. Work up to 1 tablespoon. Because this helps to balance so many things in the body, I am hopeful that it would balance out the situation with your eyes.
Please keep us posted on your progress!

01/21/2014: Dave from Fountain Inn, Sc replies: "Hello Lucinda from Leeds,
Re your watering eyes...
I fought this for years and in my case is caused when I eat acidic foods; tomato products, drinking coffee (either caffeinated or non caffeinated are very acidic.) I spent a ton of money on every kind of eye drop.
To apply as a topical help, I find this to be VERY good; a half teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water. I dab on closed eyelids and in a moment wipe clean and then reapply. In my case the acidic condition produces a thin film on the lids so I clean them first. The second coating will go toward neutralizing acidic eyes. Then, I drink the left over glass of alkalized water.
I also find a pH neutralizer is a wonder worker. I use a product called .... pH Balance. It has a large quantity of enzymes.
Using those issues; modifying diet, and use of those two alkalizing formulas has cut my watering eyes down to almost nothing."
01/21/2014: Prioris from Fl replies: "My eyes tend to get burning and dry. For a long time I thought it was an acidic condition. I have found taking 500 mg of vitamin C normalizes them. Since I take cal-mag, this could set up a too alkaline condition in me. Like heartburn, it was difficult to tell if it has alkaline or acidic origin.
Outside of skin conditions, I don't like solutions which involves outside surface treatment since it is not getting to the root of the problem. There are many possible conditions associated with tearing eyes also."
