[YEA] Saphi from Toronto, Ontario Canada writes: "I was reading everyone's testimonials and it gave me hope that ACV would clear my eczema that I've had for so long (since when I was 14, I'm now 21)and was irritated that my doctor couldn't help clear it and all he ever gave me was steroids to slow it down...What I did was pour of ACV on a cotton ball (soak it) and rubbed it on the places where the eczema was. Because it stings so bad I had a bottle of Sweet Almond Oil and rubbed it on the same spot where the eczema was to immediately stop the stinging and help with the healing of the skin. You can get a small bottle health food stores for around $6, I know it's expensive but it's worth it. I did this for about a week and it cleared up my eczema. I also drink 2 tbsp. of ACV in bottle water daily (tastes bad but bear with it!) to kill the eczema bacteria inside my body."

[YEA] Soh from Adelaide, Australia writes: "I was at my wit's end with eczema and inflammed skin. I had deep cuts and bleeding cracks on my right hand. I followed Earth clinc's advise and applied ACV topically (store bought ACV) - it burnt but it stopped itching. I also started taking ACV internally twice a day (I do not mind the taste at all, I enjoy a glass of water with a tsp or two of ACV. Also, my headaches are gone and I feel refreshed and clear-headed and full of energy the whole day - we are talking peppy and clear headed after an 8 hour meeting here - the ACV is working wonders for me:)
I have not had an itching episode for over a week now...and slowly but surely the hand is healing. Thanks Earth Clinic :)"

Mo from Irving, Tx writes: "Hi, I see that everyone is pretty much having some great success with ACV. I just found this site today and am going to buy some today after work and begin use immediately. The only real question I have is about moisturizers. I use petroleum jelly and eucerin. Can I put these on right after ACV use or is this a moisturizer in itself. Also I am currently on a steroid cream. I am 25yrs old and have had Eczema since I was a baby and in June began the absolute worst breakout of my life. I just got relief. I mean this had me in tears it was so bad. I had so many black regions all over and sores, rashes, etc. It hurt to bathe! I pray that this ACV works and please let me know about the moisturizers. Thanks so much for you success stories!!! We need them!!!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Rich from Boca Raton, Fl writes: "I've had some success with this one. Desitin Diaper Rash cream. Ingredients are Cod Liver Oil plus Zinc (2 remedies already mentioned in here). The stuff doesn't work overnight, but it seems to work.

Note: it is known that Zinc supplementation cures facial eczema in cows, I looked for a zinc product.

Had some bumps dissapear and wrinkles/stretch marks go away and hair grow back in the affected area. I'd say 80% cured in 2 weeks. Kind of smelly stuff. Got a bit lazy on application.
*****
Eczema is often a misdiagnosed yeast/fungal infection. Diaper rash is usually a yeast problem. So I'm thinking this eczema stuff is like "adult diaper rash". :)

[YEA] Doug from Cucamonga, Ca, Usa writes: "I have had a large patch of eczema on the back of my leg for about 10 years. Sometimes it doesn't itch much, other times it itches so bad that I scratch it until it's raw. I have tried a number of topical treatments, all of which helped...but none of which were able to cure it completely. So finally, after 10 years, it's gone! And what, you ask, is the reason? Ocean water. Several months ago I went to a 2 week training in San Diego and noticed that after snorkeling a handful of times in my spare time, the itch was lessened and the skin on the back of my knee felt softer. I loved snorkeling (not for eczema reduction, but simply because I enjoyed it) and I recently decided to get Scuba certified. After a dive I would notice, like with snorkeling, that the itch was lessened and the skin on the back of my knee felt softer. Well, over the past 2 months I have done about 15 dives and the eczema is gone! Ten years of various natural and unnatural salves/creams/pastes couldn't fix what the ocean could after only several "treatments".

It's worth noting that (I believe) one would have to actually go to the ocean and be in the water to get the benifits. That is, I do not believe mixing salt and water would work. Nor do I believe you could bring home some ocean water and apply it and get the same results. It is my belief that the ocean water needs to be "alive". Meaning, it needs to be full of all the bacteria/microorganisms/fresh plant particles etc. that are present in the water's natural state. I realise that not all eczema sufferers live on the coast, so for many sufferers this may not be helpful info--but for eczema sufferers living near the beach, they would be well advised to take make as many beach trips as possible...it could very well be the miracle cure they're looking for.

Also, I had the thought that maybe fresh "ocean" water from a salt-water aquarium could be effective. Since, in the aquarium, the water contains many of the same bacteria etc. that would be found in the natural ocean it seems at least possible that this water could be used to treat eczema (i.e. dipping a cloth in the tank and applying it to the affected area. In theory, at least, this seems more likely to be successful than, say, transporting ocean water from the beach since many of the living organisms in the water will be unable to survive for more than a couple of hours.

Sincerely,
Doug"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Suzanne from Kansas City, Mo, Usa writes: "On the subject of Eczema - I have been giving my teen Oil of Oregano in capsules (one in the morning and one at night) to help with her Eczema; this has helped trememdously with the itching and some of the redness. We have tried the cortizone cremes from the doctors and that did not help her at all. I've been reading here today on the suggstions of using Apple Cider Vinegar and plan to try that. I can remember as a small child my grandma taking vinegar to help with her ailments so maybe there is something to this.

As a side note I personally am taking the oregano capsules as well for sinus relief (have been for three years). I used to have a large problem with my sinus passages closing up when I laid down for the evening. I was taking a ton of OTC medications to just be able to go to sleep. I started taking this after reading up about the many health issues that are related to what is in our blood stream and that this herb can help with this. I do belive that this herb has helped us a lot.

[YEA] Vermillion from Australia, Brisbane writes: "My 7yr old son had eczema since hes a baby, it gotten worse lately due to eating a much more variety of food. Its dry, flaking, oozing out pus.Theres always a layer of dead skin on his mattress, all of us couldnt have a good nite sleep because we would hear him crying due to the intense itch n also scratching in his room.he couldnt even straighten his arms/legs because its that dry n the skin might tear.We had to get him off school as school mates makes fun of him.We tried all the creams, bath oil everything u can find at the chemist, even when to a speacialist. He was given a strong steroid syrup to stop itching but at the same time it stops him from growing.

Now hes on 1 capful of ACV mixed with a glass of warm water or sometimes with his morning tea. I also use the above mixture in a bowl with cloth or sometimes my fingers n dab the mixture on the sores, scratch marks n open skin. It worked so far but i still will have to continue this to see results. Its good to see him not scratching or itch in pain anymore.

best of luck to everybody whose had this annoying, unsightly 'disease'. I know how u feel n has gone thru a lot too.."

[YEA] Zb from Ny, Ny writes: "It's a miracle. I tried out the remedy for eczema......i put apple cider vinegar on my legs and it burned and it still itched but at a bearable level....so that i could control myself from itching ... and stop that constant cycle of calm skin and the urge to itch!

I also tried taking apple cider vinegar 2 tablespoons of it mixed with a cup of water and 1/2 a teaspoon of baking soda once a day that was also suggested on the website, that helps too, with digestion and also with drying out the skin, i think....so it can heal!

As regards the creams....i have tried sooooo many....recently i have tried out ___s baby oil....and as of now...it nourishes the skin...without contibuting to any itching.

Good luck to all, who are dealing with this....and god bless all the people who have put down their ideas and thoughts and suggestions on this website in order to help people like me who stumbled onto this website. It has changed my life, as regards dealing with this, thank you, one and all!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Cat-Eye Blink from Melbourne, Australia writes: "Emu Oil cured my son's eczema rash. I have a new baby son. He nearly four months and a lovely organic baby, smiley, outgoing and chubby. He did have cradle cap and I found this fantastic site probably a bit too late. It got out of control and spread, turning in to an eczema-style rash all over his head, belly and arms, and behind his fat little knees. It wept and scaled. Pretty gross.

I tried the usuals to start off with back when his skin was still lovely; olive oil to soften and a comb/soft brush to remove the cradle cap (I tried that so many times and couldn't get to the end of it); my partners 'old' dandruff shampoo (I eliminated his dandruff a couple of months ago with ACV much to our mutual surprise and delight); and ACV itself, both diluted in purified water, and straight, regularly and not so regularly. ACV seemed to halt the worst of it including the scratching for the first half hour or more, but was followed by bright red patches which after a while dried and flaked and itched. I suppose I burned my baby's skin- NOT what one intends to do as an alternative to petrochemical junk...

So as it stood this afternoon: an ugly, weepy, scaly rash both sides of his face and down his neck area; an itchy, hot and dry eczema-ish rash all over his belly; violent red and cracked/chapped areas anywhere his arms and legs bent; skin dry and rough on arms and legs.

I rubbed calendula oil here and there again (which seems to work temporarily on the itch and dryness but that's all) and we walked to the pharmacy where I saw a last bottle of emu oil (not THAT cheap be aware, but fair considering its source and manufacture), bought it (not what the pharmacy woman suggested at all- ) and applied it straight on to his skin as soon as home because he'd woken up and was scratching and going nuts. Within half an hour he looked like a new baby- the redness was completely gone, a little yellowy blistery skin was still visible close up but he chatted away to a toy with hands finally occupied with each other again rather than sneaking a scratch. His skin is soft and lovely. It strikes me as extraordinary because it's been so long since I've seen it that way.

I don't know if it'll eliminate the rash altogether but I'll certainly write back sooner or later to let anyone in the same situation know.

He went to bed after a bath with quarter of a cup of ACV in it, and a massage/rub down with emu oil and he hasn't made a whimper. He's been restless the last two or three nights, not settling at all, waking three or four times, wriggling and mad with itch and irritation at all hours. Hopeful. Not counting on it but it seems pretty amazing so far.

Poor little emu's. R.I.P. : )

Since moving from Houston to Utah, my 7 yr old daughter has had a few bouts of mild excema, where the skin on her hands turned red, then purple, and got very dry, then grainy and started to look like what we called "mummy skin." It was frightful to my touch.

When it first appeared, we tried some ____ Coconut oil (__________) on it. We would apply usually once every evening before she went to bed. Her hands showed noticeable improvement after several days. There was no trace of her condition after two weeks.

Since then, to make sure it wasn't a fluke, we tried other lotions and petroleum jelly when it reappears about every 6 months. They did not work. So we've gone back to using _____coconut oil the last two times her hands started showing that now-familiar appearance. We now apply it twice a day when we remember, and as before, there is no trace within 2 weeks.

I accidentally found your site and looked up eczema. Many seemed to have found success using ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) so I decided, since there was no harm in using this natural remedy, we would try it. My husband has been using ACV, 2 teaspoons sweeten with honey (probably about 2 tablespoons) in 6 to 8 oz. of hot water 3 times a day for about 2 months now. It took perhaps three weeks for a complete alleviation of the itching, but, miraculously, the eczema itself is history, not just the itch! We had been told, as have so many others, I'm sure, by well-meaning but brainwashed dermatologists, that eczema cannot be cured. It is difficult to find strong enough words to thank the people who run this site, as well as the folks who are willing to share their valuable information with others. You are all helping to put a nail in the coffin of the greedy pharmaceutical giants who have the ears and trust of the dedicated doctors in this and many other fields fields. You are also helping individuals save a lot of money and get real and lasting relief. I can't begin to tell you how much money we had spent on this problem before finding you, and what appears to be an inexpensive 'cure' although I hate to use that word.
Heather from Glen Allen, VA writes: "My son who is now 10 months has eczema and has since 4 months. i tried putting the acv on his body and he screamed. i couldn't bear it, so i put him back in the tub and rinsed him off. should i dilute with water? or maybe not do it right after a bath? i'm tired of using the steroid lotions and ointments. it keeps coming back. he had some flare ups on his legs. i've been using the ointment for a week and 1/2 and now all of sudden he's got it all over again. any help from any one would be greatly appreciated."

Helena from Beijing, China writes: "facial veins from steroid use for treating eczema on baby:

Hi, wondering if anyone can help me.

I was living overseas in Asia when my daughter (9 months)began suffering from a very mild form of Atopic Ecezma. I consulted my Paediatrician(at the time) and a skin specialist. They both recommended I begin applying a hydra cortisone lotion which was 1% strength to her face(cheek area) and under neck and arm joints and back of knee joints. She suffered from this condition until approx. 2 years of age. She is now almost 5 and has developed fine veins on her cheeks or 'pityriasis alba" and 'facial telangiectasia'. This was diagnosed only last week by another skin specialist. I was not given any information on the danger of using such a strong lotion on my daughters skin or any potential side effects such as skin thinning, vein formation. It is quite common for hyrda cortisone to be used on babies in Asia and my 'old' skin specialist and paediatrician still stand by what they did as the best thing.

I am needless to say very devastated and emotional. Is there anything I can do that will help her skin grow back better and maybe repair some of the damage. I really hope that someone who has had this kind of experience with their child/ren can help.

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Susie from Austin, Texas writes: "Has anyone tried Iodine as an eczema cure? I've been painting it on the skin in the affected areas and it seems to be helping. Now I'm going to try taking some iodine tablets. Iodine deficiency is apparently becoming a problem and can be one of the causes of eczema."
