[YEA] Msg from Somewhere, Europe writes: "hi, having benefitted from many of your ideas here, for which i am very grateful, i thought i'd share one that is tried and true:

having had numerous siblings and numerous children, i can recommend without reservation the olive oil-on-a-piece-of-cotton remedy for earaches. works for all ages, in my experience. by 48 hours the latest, earaches are gone. the olive oil only has to saturate a bit of the cotton (the side that goes into the ear) and the cotton should be stuffed (not deeply!!) into the ear and kept there. we put a biggish piece of cotton so it won't be able to get too deep. it can be changed as often as you want but we always just leave it there till the next shower.

[YEA] Holly from Greenville, Sc writes: "Urine for Earaches

I saw this page, and wondered why I didn't see this rememdy. Yes, most people I mention it to look at me like I'm crazy, and I understand that. And all I can say is that I've done this three or four times and it worked like a charm. The last time I had an ear ache, I peed in a cup and poured some in my ear, just as you would do with hydrogen peroxide. I laid on my side and let it sit for a few minutes. Within minutes, my ear ache was gone, and never returned. Like I said, I've only done this maybe four times over many years, but I would definetely do it again. I would think, of course, that if you are what you eat, and you eat terribly, then your urine may be toxic! Besides that, I may be a little crazy to do what I did, but I heard it from somewhere, and now you're hearing it from me. It was like presto fix-o!

[YEA] Paul from Bloomington, In writes: "Sodium Chlorite for Earaches

I had an earache the day before yesterday and looked on Earth Clinic to see what I could do. I tried peroxide on a cue tip which seemed in the immediate to increase my pain. Then I tried a warmed moist towel which helped ease the pain down a bit.

I realized I was going to have to kill off this infection else resort to antibiotics which I wanted to avoid for various reasons. Then I remembered I had some Sodium Chlorite solution in which people use to combat virus' yeast, fungi, and bacteria. As suggested I had a while ago started with one drop in a glass of water and had built up to three drops. I started to increase my dosage more aggressively adding one drop for each glass I finished. I did this twice a day but I noticed by the next morning after increasing my dose my earache was gone. My sinus' were still stopped up but to this point my earache has not come back even though there is still mucus in the ear canal.

It is important to remember not to take the sodium chlorite alone but to squeeze in a fair amount of lemon or lime juice in with a full glass of water. I've been using a half a small lime for every glass and drink this twice a day. I'm up to seven drops and it is recommended you work your way up to 15 drops. I will continue this method until my sinus' clear and report back any changes.

[YEA] Jharry from Corpus Christi, Texas, Usa writes: "I used a combination of natural and over-the-counter meds to cure my ear infection. First, I used drops of dilute hydrogen peroxide and ethyl alcohol (vodka). They helped slow the infection but didn't solve my problem. Finally I applied an over-the-counter triple antibiotic ointment using cotton ear swabs, and it cured the infection in two days. The petroleum jelly base served as an internal ear bandage and helped the pain while the three antibiotics cured the infection."

[YEA] Kim from Dallas, Tx, United States writes: "I am not big on putting liquids in my ears (I've tried H2O2 with mixed results). However, I've found a simple way to unclog achey, stuffy ears...I STEAM THEM. Find a mug or cup that can withstand hot water and make sure that the mouth of the cup/mug fits around your ear without letting much air escape. Next, fold a small piece of paper towel until it can fit at the bottom of the cup/mug. Then pour steaming hot water into the cup/mug (just enough to cover and saturate the paper towel). Quickly pour the excess water out of the cup/mug and tilt your head to the side and place your ear in the cup. IF THE STEAM IS TOO HOT LIFT YOUR HEAD FROM THE CUP/MUG UNTIL IT FEELS COMFORTABLE, then lower your head back to the cup/mug. Stay that way for about a minute. You will instantly feel "popping" as the steam breaks up the gunk in your ear. Repeat with other ear by adding more hot water into the cup and pouring off excess. Repeat process throughout the day. After awhile you will be able to either irrigate our gentle scoop out yucky, waxy gunk that was causing the problem in the first place. I like to put a few drops of EUCALYPTUS oil in the cup, but experiment with Oregano oil, garlic, ACV, Tea tree oil to see what works best!

God Bless.

[YEA] Di from Bartlesville, Oklahoma writes: "I was plagued for several years with itchy and very clogged ears. The $100.00 bottle of medicine from the doctor only worked temporarily, then itchy, clogged ears would be back. I tried a home remedy I found on the internet and BRAVO, clean ears now going on 4 years. In a small bottle with a tip on it, mix 1 part 91% alcohol and 1 part vinegar. Apple cider or white will work. Several times a day drop a few drops into each ear. I also put some on a Q-tip and wipe the inside of my ear, just don't push Q-tip into ear. Everytime your ear gets wet especially after bath or shower or swimming do this. The 91% alcohol dries moisture, and the vinegar keeps bacteria from growing. Don't use 70% alcohol, it has too much water in it. If ears are really slushy, clean them a few times with peroxide before using the alcohol/vinegar. Peroxide will put water into the ear so don't use it too often. Once your ears have been slush/itch free continue to use the alcohol/vinegar at least once a day."

[YEA] Jeremiah from San Diego, California writes: "EAR INFECTION, PREPARATION SUGGESTION

I had a really bad ear infection in January of 2009 in which the infection caused my right ear to have hearing loss, as well as a constant sense of being clogged with something and/or feeling clogged from high altitudes (pressure change). I took a clove of garlic, peeled it, then scraped a part of it to release the juice and allicin, then CAREFULLY (I CANNOT emphasize that enough) the scraped part into my ear canal and let it stay there for at least 2 hours, possibly 3. When I took the clove out, the infection was gone.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST, I SAY MUST!, EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION IN DOING THIS!!!!!!!!

It seemed like a vicious cycle. Finally, I stopped taking him to a doctor (and stopped the antibiotic round). Instead, I would put a small piece of cotton ball dipped into garlic oil or mullein oil into his ear before bed time. Both are supposed to work well for this. (Mullein is an old native-American remedy for ear ache.) I also gave him high doses of vitamin C, garlic, echinacea, and golden seal (in liquid) mixed with his juice several times a day. He had oozing green nasty stuff coming from his ear constantly. After many different painful and risky treatments, including thinking of taking out parts of his ear (10 hour surgery), they were referred to their last resort at John's Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore City. The doctor was stumped and gave them one last idea...he said this may or may not work but let's give it a try....use vinegar to irrigate the ear twice a day. Bending over to help it clear for a few mintues, allergy med.'s, saw his PCP, an Allergist, ENT put tubes in his ears, his sx.'s worsened so he had them taken out, he is very against surgery for fear of it not working. He is a college student and looking @ his near future come Sept. he will no longer have health Ins. so he is desperate for lack of a better word, this has very much interfered with his well being and he has even become depressed and I feel awful for him. Even the ENT now are @ a lost on what to do to help him. What can you suggest for this young man. I appreciate your time, talents and feed back on this.

Eva from Denham Springs, Louisiana, United States writes: "Most of the children on my father's side have had to have tubes put in their ears. I suffered from many ear infections throughout childhood. Typically, it was from swimming, but I even got it from taking a shower or bath occasionally.

Ear drops from the doctor were warm, oily, expensive, and took about a week to cure the infection. My mother heard that you could get rid of it with hydrogen peroxide and I have never looked back. Any time my ear starts to hurt, I put a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide into my ear and let it sit until it stops bubbling. Then, I drain out the ear and put one drop of rubbing alcohol. The peroxide cleans and sanitizes the ear canal. The drop of alcohol mixes with any water or peroxide left in the ear and evaporates it quickly.

This method usually takes care of the infection overnight, and I haven't had an earache for more than two days since I started using it. I don't know how safe this is, because I'm not a doctor. I do know that I have been doing it for the past 14 years and still have good hearing and no known problems with my ears."

[YEA] Siafu from Three, GA writes: "My son developed an earache the other night and I was about to warm up some oil, but then had another idea; honey - locally procured of course.

I went ahead and used a dropper to place two drops into the affected ear and literally within seconds he went quiet and pulled the covers over his head. I was talking to my wife about what else we could do when I noticed he was not squirming under the covers. I pulled the covers back to reveal a wonderful sleeping little boy with no more pain. Altogether this took probably a minute or less.

This lasted all night and well into the next day until the afternoon when it happened again, but not as severe. Keep in mind that when it began he was kicking and grabbing his ear, not wanting me to touch it or do anything.

My wife took him to a doctor who said his ear was infected.

I have not had to try it again, but next time I'll be sure to reach for the honey. I hope this can be of use to someone, especially the little ones.

I don't know what warnings to give about honey but be sure to research it before giving it to your child or anyone, even in the ear."

[YEA] Gean from Salina, KS writes: "At the very first sign of ear pain, put your hand over your ear for a few minutes, warming your ear. If your hair is long enough, pull some hair over your ear and cover with warm hand. Keep it there until pain goes away. If you have access to a hat or head band, cover ears to keep warm. If very bad you can cup both hands and make a "tunnel" from your mouth to your ear, blowing warm air. The key is not to wait at all, but do it at the first sign of pain. You can do this wherever you happen to be, and can save you lots of trouble. I've told my kids to do this, and no one in the family has had ear pain for many, many years. If time has gone by and you've had the ear pain for hours, then you may need a heated salt bag or some of the other treatments, although it wouldn't hurt to try the above. But, remember for the next time that a stitch in time saves nine."

[YEA] Nadera from Woodside, NY writes: "A few days ago, I woke up in the morning and couldn't get out of bed because... I suddenly started to feel dizzy. Everything was going upside down, and I felt nauseous. So, I lay for a while untill I could go to the bathroom, where ofcourse, I threw up! For a couple of days I was confined in bed, later when I felt slightly better, I went to my doctor. He prescribed Meclizine 25mg(saying that I have ear-infection) which I took for a few days. Then I went to your site and read about H202. So, I plucked up enough courage and poured half a tsp.,of Hydrogen peroxide in both my ears. There was a bubbling sensation and I was scared whether I was doing the right thing, yet kept on repeating the process three times a day. After a few days, I went to the hospital to have my ears checked (just in case) to make sure; because deep down I was also worried what if, the infection had spread or something...

My vertigo, had not subsided completely yet, so I went to the emergency, the doctor having checked everything said, she doesn't see any infection in my ears, so she referred me to an ENT. By the time, I got to see the specialist (according to the appointment) few days went by, but I didn't stop the application of my home remedy. In the meantime my dizziness got cured, by the grace of Almighty God.

The specialist checked my ears and put me through several tests, finally discharged me saying everything was clear. THANK GOD!"

I have had only one ear bothering me then the other one started so he went and looked up some home remedies for us because we can not afford to send me to the doctor. But it looks like that I am gonna have to go because I have not been able to get a solid night sleep. I finally do get to get some rest and it is only for about 3 hours at a time. The pain is so unbearable that I have literally bawled my eyes out and I am a 44 year old woman. The remedy that was given to me was the one that calls for 3% hydrperoxide 3 drops in each ear and then dry each one completely then take 2 drops of apple cider vinegar in each ear and leave in there for five minutes repeat this whole remedy 3 times a day. I know that there are some who do not get relief by using these remedies and others do, but I am at my wits end. I can not afford to go to the doctor. I am currently unployed but I am out there pounding the streets to find work and I have been very depressed lately. Work was the only thing keeping me going. My ears are hurting so bad right now I just want the pain to stop because it is so terrible that I have thought about other ways to end this pain and I am being very serious about this.
[SIDE EFFECTS] Tristan from Palm Coast, Florida writes: "I've had a recurring ear infection (it's left a constant ringing sound), and have tried a number of oils, garlic, clove etc, and nothing has worked. This afternoon I put in some drops of sea salt solution - the right ear was fine, but after rinsing the left one, I couldn't walk straight. I was all off balance like I'd been drinking, and I felt quite nauseous. I'm worried now. Can anyone explain what may have happened? Thanks."
