[YEA] 07/22/2008: Robin from Ladera Ranch, CA writes: "I was told if my son was breastfed he would have a stronger immune system. Now I wonder what time of immune system he would of had if I didn't breastfeed him! He had constant ear infections from the time he was 4 months old until about 6 years old. He was on numerous bouts of antibiotics, sometimes both ears twice a month!!! I spent soooo much money on doctors appts and antibiotic prescriptions. His immune system got worse from what I think are the vast amounts of antibiotics. Finally, a guy at work told me to go to this natural store. I went and a man came out and sold me a bottle of ear oil (mostly garlic oil with a couple of other things) for 2 dollars. I brought it home, tried it when my son had an infection and I was BLOWN AWAY!!! About 2 days worth and it was gone. What's amazing is, it came back once or twice after that for about the first year and he hasn't had one since. I wish someone would have told me sooner!!!! Yeah he smelled like garlic and he was mad about that but no more expensive trips to the doctor and these crazy amounts of antibiotics. I've seen these bottles of ear oil since then and given them to my friends with kids and they said it worked for them too and they were amazed. The sell them at like whole foods and trader joes. Doesn't hurt to try right?"
[YEA] 01/07/2009: Tara from Marlborough, MA USA replies: "I saw comments about garlic oil working for ear infections. A few weeks ago, my 4 yr old son was very lethargic and his ear was bright red and burning. He said it hurt. My husband chopped up one clove of fresh garlic, put it in maybe a couple table spoons of olive oil in a small cup and warmed it up in the microwave. He strained the garlic out, let it cool and put a dropperful in my son's affected ear. I gave my son some painkiller and a cold compress and he fell asleep for the night. By morning, he was fine!"

[YEA] 06/10/2009: Lanayanie from Santa Rosa Beach, FL writes: "When my son was 4, he had a recurring ear infection. Antibiotics did not help, and I was very frustrated. It seemed like a vicious cycle. Finally, I stopped taking him to a doctor (and stopped the antibiotic round). Instead, I would put a small piece of cotton ball dipped into garlic oil or mullein oil into his ear before bed time. Both are supposed to work well for this. (Mullein is an old native-American remedy for ear ache.) I also gave him high doses of vitamin C, garlic, echinacea, and golden seal (in liquid) mixed with his juice several times a day. Once he recovered, the problem did not come back."

[YEA] 03/13/2009: Gean from Salina, KS writes: "At the very first sign of ear pain, put your hand over your ear for a few minutes, warming your ear. If your hair is long enough, pull some hair over your ear and cover with warm hand. Keep it there until pain goes away. If you have access to a hat or head band, cover ears to keep warm. If very bad you can cup both hands and make a "tunnel" from your mouth to your ear, blowing warm air. The key is not to wait at all, but do it at the first sign of pain. You can do this wherever you happen to be, and can save you lots of trouble. I've told my kids to do this, and no one in the family has had ear pain for many, many years. If time has gone by and you've had the ear pain for hours, then you may need a heated salt bag or some of the other treatments, although it wouldn't hurt to try the above. But, remember for the next time that a stitch in time saves nine."

[YEA] 03/26/2009: Siafu from Three, GA writes: "My son developed an earache the other night and I was about to warm up some oil, but then had another idea; honey - locally procured of course.
I went ahead and used a dropper to place two drops into the affected ear and literally within seconds he went quiet and pulled the covers over his head. I was talking to my wife about what else we could do when I noticed he was not squirming under the covers. I pulled the covers back to reveal a wonderful sleeping little boy with no more pain. Altogether this took probably a minute or less.
This lasted all night and well into the next day until the afternoon when it happened again, but not as severe. Keep in mind that when it began he was kicking and grabbing his ear, not wanting me to touch it or do anything.
My wife took him to a doctor who said his ear was infected.
I have not had to try it again, but next time I'll be sure to reach for the honey. I hope this can be of use to someone, especially the little ones.
I don't know what warnings to give about honey but be sure to research it before giving it to your child or anyone, even in the ear."

07/18/2009: Alicia from Madrid, Spain replies: "Maybe you put it straight from the bottle without diluting, I tried it one part(10 drops h202) diluted with mineral water (20 times the amount of h202) and worked marvelously and at the same time I gargled it and got rid of ear ache and sore throat due to infection. I reccomend doing it every 5 hours and 48 hours later you're fixed. Maybe you can't take it in this solution either but it helped me to the max and I reccomend it. I'm also using it for a toe nail fungus and day by day it's getting better and better. Have a nice one."

05/26/2009: Eva from Denham Springs, Louisiana, United States writes: "Most of the children on my father's side have had to have tubes put in their ears. I suffered from many ear infections throughout childhood. Typically, it was from swimming, but I even got it from taking a shower or bath occasionally.
Ear drops from the doctor were warm, oily, expensive, and took about a week to cure the infection. My mother heard that you could get rid of it with hydrogen peroxide and I have never looked back. Any time my ear starts to hurt, I put a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide into my ear and let it sit until it stops bubbling. Then, I drain out the ear and put one drop of rubbing alcohol. The peroxide cleans and sanitizes the ear canal. The drop of alcohol mixes with any water or peroxide left in the ear and evaporates it quickly.
This method usually takes care of the infection overnight, and I haven't had an earache for more than two days since I started using it. I don't know how safe this is, because I'm not a doctor. I do know that I have been doing it for the past 14 years and still have good hearing and no known problems with my ears."
[YEA] 06/03/2009: Louis from Scotia, NY, USA replies: "About a year ago I had a really bad ear ache that started without warning. At the time, it was late Saturday and I knew that if I were holding my ear from the pain that waiting til Monday just wasn't an option. With that, I went online to find out if there are any homeopathic remedies that I could use. Mind you, I've never been fond about homeopathic anything..! It's like your Mom giving Cod Liver Oil which never worked, know what I mean. With that, it made sense when I ran into another posting where someone stated that they used Hydrogen Peroxide. Pretty straight forward right? Have a skinned knee use Alcohol or peroxide, made sense (not the alcohol but the HP). This one guy said that his earache went away in just a few hours. Figuring that it'll take a day or so before it felt better, I was HUGELY surprised when it worked...! If there's one thing that I've done since is use peroxide for an earache. Meanwhile, I thought the guy who wrote this POV was just making it sound like it was slice bread to just promote the option but no lie, it worked and I've never looked back. This will work, hand over fist, no question and you don't have to wait. Just spend the $0.89 on a bottle and get relief NOW...! :)"

[YEA] 03/08/2009: Nadera from Woodside, NY writes: "A few days ago, I woke up in the morning and couldn't get out of bed because... I suddenly started to feel dizzy. Everything was going upside down, and I felt nauseous. So, I lay for a while untill I could go to the bathroom, where ofcourse, I threw up! For a couple of days I was confined in bed, later when I felt slightly better, I went to my doctor. He prescribed Meclizine 25mg(saying that I have ear-infection) which I took for a few days. Then I went to your site and read about H202. So, I plucked up enough courage and poured half a tsp.,of Hydrogen peroxide in both my ears. There was a bubbling sensation and I was scared whether I was doing the right thing, yet kept on repeating the process three times a day. After a few days, I went to the hospital to have my ears checked (just in case) to make sure; because deep down I was also worried what if, the infection had spread or something...
My vertigo, had not subsided completely yet, so I went to the emergency, the doctor having checked everything said, she doesn't see any infection in my ears, so she referred me to an ENT. By the time, I got to see the specialist (according to the appointment) few days went by, but I didn't stop the application of my home remedy. In the meantime my dizziness got cured, by the grace of Almighty God.
The specialist checked my ears and put me through several tests, finally discharged me saying everything was clear. THANK GOD!"

Ears definitely feel better, clogged sinuses seem clearer also. I felt very dizzy and a little nauseated when doing the second ear, had to lay down on the bathroom floor."
01/18/2009: Kelly from Nashville, TN replies: "When I was a little girl, I remember my Mom using hydrogen peroxide to clean the excess wax from my Dad's ears. Once both ears were done, she would gently dry the ear with a tissue. We never used a QTip in the ear!"

[YEA] 12/22/2008: Navae from Portland, OR writes: "I use this site as a reference library for all the ailments our family encounters! It has been a lifesaver.
Yesterday i woke up with a horrific earache - it just came out of nowhere. It was making me dizzy and nauseous.
I am a stay at home mom of 3 little boys - i don't have time to be out of commission.
So - i came here as usual and found the Hydrogen peroxide remedy. i poured about a eighth of a cap-full (3 ml), tilted my head and poured it in. It was rather uncomfortable, mainly because of the liquid being in my sensitive ear, and the bubbling.... LOTS of bubbling :) But i don't think it was so bad that i couldn't do it on the kids.
anyway - i did it about once every 2-3 hours totaling 3 times. The last time was right before i went to bed.
I woke up this morning feeling 100%!
**other things i was also doing: GSE and Oregano oil in water to kill it from the inside, and immune boosting herbs. (if you use gse/oregano oil, please look up dosage info first!!!)****"

[WARNING!] 10/17/2008: Kathy from Houston, TX writes: "Warning: peroxide for ear pain
For some people this may work, but for me Never again. My fiance kept telling me just pour the peroxide in your ear it will feel better. The pain was very bad and I have had this ear rupture before on my from the pressure well I said fine. So i poured just a little in my ear and with in 10 minutes it ruptured and it drained puss and blood out of it. Very gross and expensive. All ways check with your doctor mine told me never to use it again on my ears."
[WARNING!] 02/06/2009: Glass from Brooklyn, NY replies: "WARNING ABOUT PEROXIDE!!!
i have a history of ear problems throughout childhood. i havent had any infections or pain in about 15 years, since i was 12-- until now. last week i developed a cold, everyone in my house is sick and coughing, phlegm, congestion, some with fever, you know the deal. winter in new york. i read about hydrogen peroxide in the ear and tried it, it barely even went down, that's how clogged my ears must have been. but i had zero ear pain at all, i have had many sinus infections/ flu / colds over the years, all cured naturally with no spread to ear. 2 nights ago i had a severe earache, for 6 hours i was literally wailing in excruciatng pain. i put in a cap of peroxide 2 or 3 times, it started to feel better when it first when in and as soon as it got deeper the pain was just as bad. i think it's a bad idea to put anything in your ears, especially anything liquid, if you have a history of problems draining fluid or tubes put in as a kid, because that drainage problem can come right back as it did for me. the liquid got trapped in there the other day when i first did it (in attempt to cure the cold) and whatever clogging was there just left the little peroxide with nowhere to drain, and it caused an infection.
yesterday felt a little better when i woke up, but muffled hearing. woke up today with blood and white fluid (some pus?) coming out of ear. i got scared and went to a doctor. i'm pregnant and refuse antibiotics, she said since the pus isn't green, i can try to cure infection myself but still recommended penicillin. i will continue to inhale steam, eat lots of raw ginger and garlic and massage all around the ear (around the outside of ear, all those pressure points especially behind earlobe and a little down the neck) and that could cure the infection. do both ears to prevent spread of infection to other ear. also massage pressure points around nostrils. ACV is great too!!! i swig a few teaspoons mixed with water and cayenne, like 5 times a day when im sick. it's a great sinus reliever and breaks up congestion. turmeric is great too, it's a potent anti-inflammatory. hope this helps."
[WARNING!] 05/15/2009: emt_scheid911 from Detroit, MI replies: "Hello,
I came to the website in search of something to help with my ear pain which I associated with having impacted wax with a q-tip yesterday. I read about the peroxide and used it and was immediatly regretful! I became so dizzy that I passed out immediatly and when I woke up I didn't stop vomiting for the next 2 hours. It took the whole day for the dizziness to go away. And after all that-nothing changed in my ear whatsoever. I went to the doctor and he said to make sure you MIX the peroxide 50/50 with warm water, and to make sure the peroxide is WARM. If you put it in your ear cold-you will get the side effects that I did. So-I'm not saying it doesn't work because clearly for some it does. Just make sure you WARM THE PEROXIDE and make sure you DILUTE it, and make sure it really is ear wax because I ended up having an infection and a ruptured ear drum!
Take care guys!"

[YEA] 04/18/2008: Sarah from Battle Creek, Michigan writes: "My 14 month old son has constantly been sick and had ear infections. We have keep going to the doctor and they just kept putting him on antibiotics. It turns out that the infection never healed causing the area behind his ear to become swollen. We went to the emergency room and they just gave him another round of antibiotics. Three days later went went back into his ped and they put him on steriods for the swelling because they said it was lymph nodes. Two weeks later his ear was still swollen, red and very tender to the touch. The poor baby was just miserable so we made another appointment to go back to the ped. Since we use H2O2 for cleaning out infections and getting rid of ear wax, I put some in his ear that night, let it sit for 5 minutes and then drained it. The next morning the swelling was down by half but it was still noticably swollen. We had is ped appointment that day so we went and they referred us to a ENT and hearing Specialist. As soon as that doctor walked in the room he said he was going to have to schedule my son for surgery to put tubes in his ear. what he has is mastoiditis, an infection of the bone behind the ear. After talking for a while I told the doctor that the ear was actually getting better (I left out the H2O2 part). He gave me the option to do another round of antibiotics and see what happens but if it got worse then I had to bring him in for surgery. Of course, I opted for the antibiotics. I did a total of 5 treatments of H2O2 in his ear. I did it right before bed and when he woke up in the morning after doing a treatment his ear was less and less tender and swollen. This moring when he woke up his ear was completely back to normal. I can't believe it! My baby is happy and doesn't need tubes put into his ears anymore. Thank you God for giving us H2O2. "

I just drank some hot sauce and honey "tea" which seems to be helping so I braved the hydrogen peroxide drops in the ear. Well I was wrong, after the drops got past the outer ear and possibly down farther I had the same excrutiating pain. I tried breathing through it, but no way! What I want to know is - what's causing this pain? I've tried asking doctors, speech paths and an audiologist with no answers. I did have tubes as a child. Anyone out there have an answer?
And I was watching Rachel Ray one day and a doctor on there mentioned using sea salt to cure an ear ache. I thought he said something about making a "heat pack" out of the sea salt and placing it on your ear, but I can't remember exactly. Any clues? I didn't see anything here about sea salt for ear aches. thanks"

[YEA] 11/24/2007: Sandy from In the sticks, Nevada writes: "We have been using hydrogen peroxide for years to fight off earaches and colds. My kids and I used to go to the dr. all the time for earaches and end up with a big dr. bill and antibiotics. Then we heard about peroxide. I keep the peroxide in a small glass bottle with an eyedropper. The moment anyone starts to get a sore throat or their ears hurt even a tiny bit, we put one eyedropper full in each ear. Hold the bottle in your hand to warm the peroxide a bit (otherwise it feels like ice water going in) and have the person lie flat on their side. I like to leave the peroxide in until it stops bubbling, but even a few minutes may be enough to help. Drain the peroxide out when you are done and dry the ear thoroughly. A nurse told me that the peroxide would burn a hole through the lining of the ear(Has anyone ever heard of this before?), but we have done this for almost 10 years with no problems."

[YEA] 09/21/2006: Daniel from Spokane, WA writes: "First, thank you for the great website--I've been searching for this type of confirmation for several days now. My story is that I use earplugs when I sleep, as I awake easily. About a week ago, I had taken a shower right before bed and dried ears with a towel (no q-tip). The earplug didn't seem to go in as usual (perhaps the wrong angle). The day after, about mid-day, I noticed that my ear was hurting. Two days later I was in a full-blown ear infection. I stopped working a few months ago to do some studies, as such, no money to go to the doctor. I prayed and the Lord said to read a book about hydrogen peroxide that was sitting on my shelf and decided that it wouldn't hurt. So, I put one cap of H2O2 into my ear and let it sit for about 5 minutes. I couldn't hear anything happening, at first. Then the bubbling started. Rather cool. I kept doing this every two to three hours. By the end of the night, the pain (so strong that I really couldn't touch the ear without feeling like I was going to throw up) was 90% gone. After two treatments the following day, there is no longer ANY pain whatsoever. Praise the Lord! Now, I must say that I don't know for certain if my immune system had typed the virus/bacteria by this point, as I had been sick for a few days by the time I started... Regardless, the pain appeared to decrease with each treatment--I thought I was imagining it until the 4th treatment--I then KNEW that there was a difference. By the way, I should mention that I also dried my ear out with q-tips, and then used a warm blow dryer for about 10 minutes after each treatment. Perhaps I had come down with swimmer's ear from using the earplugs on wet ears--drying is important. Anyway, thank God for hydrogen peroxide and a cured ear infection. I am now using 3% in a humidifier, breathing it in for multiple 5 minute sessions throughout the day, and have seen a big difference in my energy levels--very cool. I might add that I have to inhale with my eyes closed...else the stuff irritates my eyes. Pretty cool stuff!"

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE AND APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
1 NAY
[NAY] 03/06/2009: Terri from North Little Rock, Arkansas writes: "I have been trying one of the remedies that was seen here from a friend of ours and it is not working. I have had only one ear bothering me then the other one started so he went and looked up some home remedies for us because we can not afford to send me to the doctor. But it looks like that I am gonna have to go because I have not been able to get a solid night sleep. I finally do get to get some rest and it is only for about 3 hours at a time. The pain is so unbearable that I have literally bawled my eyes out and I am a 44 year old woman. The remedy that was given to me was the one that calls for 3% hydrperoxide 3 drops in each ear and then dry each one completely then take 2 drops of apple cider vinegar in each ear and leave in there for five minutes repeat this whole remedy 3 times a day. I know that there are some who do not get relief by using these remedies and others do, but I am at my wits end. I can not afford to go to the doctor. I am currently unployed but I am out there pounding the streets to find work and I have been very depressed lately. Work was the only thing keeping me going. My ears are hurting so bad right now I just want the pain to stop because it is so terrible that I have thought about other ways to end this pain and I am being very serious about this. Can you please help me find something that will work."

06/09/2009: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hi Teri,
When using peroxide for earache, I fill the ear up with peroxide and lie with that ear up until it stops making the noise which tells me that I can empty that ear and do the other one the same way if necessary. One recommended mixture for use afterwards is equal parts ACV, Isoproply alcohol, and sweet oil. A few drops in each ear.
Another thing you might try for the earache pain is a few drops of a good hot sauce (usually mostly a mixture of cayenne pepper and vinegar. Of course you can purchase the cayenne pepper in bulk at places like Whole Foods or Wild Oats Groceries and mix your own pure cayenne in ACV or in alcohol (ethanol, not rubbing alcohol).
Cayenne is a good pain killer. It is the only thing I used after dental extractions and finding that the first Demerol tablet prescribed for pain made me very, very sick. A bonus was that it also kept the bleeding under control. I just put a few drops over the areas of extraction every few hours. Worked for me, hopefully it will work on earaches too."
06/10/2009: Dj from Pdx, Or replies: "A woman posted onion for ear aches. I believe she took a yellow onion and heated it in the mirowave then squeezed out the juice and put those drops in her childs ear. It took the pain right away. Onion is an anti-bacterial also."

He was telling me over her crying that she started complaining of an earache about 1/2 hr ago, but just started hurting alot in the last 5 minutes. I told him to drive her home.I had just come across this website and wanted to try the hydrogen peroxide as I've gone back and for to the doctors with her for antibotics for earaches at least 8 times in her lifetime. He brought her home, and she threw up immediately. I almost thought of bringing her to the emergency room. I called the on call nurse and she said to give her ibuprofen and she should be ok to come in in the morning for antibiotics. I had her lay down on her side and I opened up a bottle of apple cider vinegar and hydgrogen peroxide. I filled the hydrogen peroxide cap 1/2 with both and left it in for 30 sec and repeated 5 times. She said her ear felt better and wanted to go to bed. I was in shock, and said ok, lets go. I expected her to come get me in the middle of the night and need to do it again, but she slept great and the following morning, I did the same thing. My husband brought her to the docters to be on the safe side. They prescribed the antibiotic and we filled it just to be safe. After looking at more responses from people using hydrogen peroxide, it looked like putting it in the ear for 5 minutes works well, so we switched to that the next two days. She is still fine and I am still in shock, but this truly works.I am shocked and almost angered that we've been so trained to believe that antibiotics are the answer. This works and I am SOOOOOOO grateful for this website. I know my family will be more healthy because of it!!"

[YEA] 08/03/2009: Di from Bartlesville, Oklahoma writes: "I was plagued for several years with itchy and very clogged ears. The $100.00 bottle of medicine from the doctor only worked temporarily, then itchy, clogged ears would be back. I tried a home remedy I found on the internet and BRAVO, clean ears now going on 4 years. In a small bottle with a tip on it, mix 1 part 91% alcohol and 1 part vinegar. Apple cider or white will work. Several times a day drop a few drops into each ear. I also put some on a Q-tip and wipe the inside of my ear, just don't push Q-tip into ear. Everytime your ear gets wet especially after bath or shower or swimming do this. The 91% alcohol dries moisture, and the vinegar keeps bacteria from growing. Don't use 70% alcohol, it has too much water in it. If ears are really slushy, clean them a few times with peroxide before using the alcohol/vinegar. Peroxide will put water into the ear so don't use it too often. Once your ears have been slush/itch free continue to use the alcohol/vinegar at least once a day."
EC: 91% alcohol is isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol.

08/04/2009: Eva from Prinsenbeek, The Netherlands replies: "Yes, a slightly different recipe (more diluted) is widely used among divers (you can't dive with bad ears). Too much alcohol in the solution dissolves earwax, this can leave the ear canal prone to infections. Thus one-third distilled water, one-third white vinegar and one-third isopropyl alcohol could be a more effective mixture. Even if there is water in the mixture, your ear will dry out and right after application you will feel your ear canal to become warm. Some people even warm the solution between their hands before using it. I would not use a Q-tip, but apply a few droplets the solution with a medicine dropper (taking care not to let the dropper touch the ear or anything else). Tilt the head to one side add two to three droplets, then gently massage the ear in a circular motion to ensure penetration, and allow the medication to sit for some minutes before lifting the head upright. I am not sure this recipe helps when you have a very bad infection, but it DOES work when you have some irritation and/or water in your ear. After your ear feels normal again you can stop with the treatment (usually, after one to several days). It is a cheap recipe, so to keep it potent you can make a new batch of it monthly if you need to use it often."
08/04/2009: Connie from Manitowoc, Wisconsin replies: "I heard about the rubbing alcohol and vinegar treatment for ear infections. I don't remember the ratio of the mix, but that you should fill the ear with the mixture and let it sit for perhaps 20 seconds before tilting your head to let the solution run out onto a tissue. Do one ear, then the other. Do this once in the morning and once in the evening. I have tried this and it works. You may have to continue treatment for a few days. If you have a punctured ear drum this procedure could be dangerous, though."
