Apple Cider Vinegar, Cayenne, Tomato Tea
[YEA] 06/22/2007: Stephanie from Freeport, USA: "First of all, I thank GOD for helping me find your site to try these wonderful remedies! I started out with a sore throat and gargled water mixed with cayenne powder; it helped short term. But then I had a nasty cough (associated with the sore throat), so I drank 2 TBSP of apple cider vinegar throughout the day. It seemed to make my coughs more productive. When I woke up the next day, I hacked up a lot of mucous, and felt like I was getting better. Then I made a pot of tomato tea and I am well again :-) Thank you very much! Your site is a priceless wealth of information.""Replies

Apple Cider Vinegar, Grapefruit Seed Extract
[YEA] 09/15/2009: Adammreilly from Keene, Tx, USA: "I came down with the flu just before Labor Day weekend. I started the weekend with a garlic and onion soup, but didn't want to keep making that, so I ended up making a glass of cold water with about 2-3 tbsp of apple cider vinegar and about 1/2 tbsp honey. Cold water makes it hard for honey to mix, so I had to stir for a while. Immediately after the first sip, my cough stopped, and my throat did not hurt. I drank this throughout the day, sipping on it as I got thirsty and remaking the drink as needed.
After about a day, I started adding 5 drops of grapefruit seed extract. Very bitter, so I had to increase the amount of honey, or add some stevia.
The first night, I had a fever, and bundled up warmly. By the second night, I was almost better. I just had the aches a little."
Apple Cider Vinegar, Wild Oregano
[YEA] 05/14/2007: Tasha from Seattle, Washington: "My cough went on for more than a month, often keeping me up at night. I tried chewing on the clove of garlic each day but it didn't lessen the symptoms. Finally fearing a more serious medical situation, I consulted this website. I drank the apple cider vinegar and water in the morning followed by 4 oil of oregano throughout the day. I made sure to expectorate the phlegm that I could and by the next day, my lungs were clear. THANK YOU!"
[YEA] 08/18/2011: Aayushiy from Pune, India: "Hi I too used to face similar problems. But instead of opting for allopathic treatment I chose Ayurveda. You must try it. My recuring cough turned out to be a the result of an allergic reaction. Ayurveda can help in treating allergies. Ayurveda treats the root cause of the disease so that there is a minimal chance of re-occurrence. AyurVAID Hospitals is a pioneering chain of new generation Ayurveda hospitals, dedicated to applying Ayurveda to solve modern health problems. It is the first NABH accredited Ayurveda Hospital in India. You can get in touch with them and know the treatment procedure. www.ayurvaid.com"

[YEA] 06/16/2009: Robin from Highland , NY: "Re getting your voice back -- After hearing that Japanese opera singers eat black bean soup before performing I tried it for severe laryngitis. I'm a soprano and was singing bass. After trying the black bean soup I was up to alto in one day and back to soprano in two."
Black Tea and Honey
[YEA] 06/23/2009: Crystal from Leonardo, New Jersey: "For a sore throat or a cough that will not go away i use tea (any kind you like but the liptons tea bags work the best for this.) and honey. First, add 1-2 tea bags (depending how strong you like your tea) to hot water and dip until the tea is all out of the bag. Next, add the honey, i usually add 1-2tablespoons but you can add it to taste if you would like too. For the best results i have found using 2 tablespoons sometiems 3 works the best though. Reapeat this 2-5 times a day.(it really does not matter how often because neither thing will hurt you.)"
01/24/2012: Vaibhav from Mumbai, India: "Have pani puri (u can find the recipies on youtube or just google it) it really works.... TRUST ME"
[YEA] 09/20/2008: Denise from Atlanta, GA: "I was up night with a horrible cough. So my throat was on fire this morning. I mixed a little cayenne with ACV and warm water. And what can I say it works its a beautiful day out side and I am on my way to enjoy it."
Cayenne, ACV and Baking Soda
[YEA] 12/11/2007: Sheryl from Edison, NJ: "My 3 year old had a very bad cough, chest congestion and fatigue for 2 days...i gave him lemon juice and acv baking soda. No much effect on cough and it was getting worse. Finally mixed 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne in 2 teaspoon of ACV baking soda with 1 teaspoon water. Cough stopped instantly and in 10 mins he was playing. chest congestion cleared 80%. Thank you earthclinic. i visit this website regularly."
Cayenne, Garlic, Onion, Ginger
[YEA] 10/17/2007: Samantha from Portland, Oregon: "I found cayenne a great cure for pretty much everything some time ago. It wasnt long ago that I came down with a bad sinus infection, cough, and fatigue. I decided to boil water on the stove, and add cayenne(open 3 capsules and pour them in), crushed garlic(4 cloves),half an onion, and grated ginger. THIS COMBINATION IS AMAZING. It is SO powerful. The most vital ingredients are the cayenne and garlic, but the onion and ginger are also very helpful. Make sure and boil everything until the onion is mushy, and the garlic is too. Keep a lid on, but every so often inhale the steam from the boiling remedy.. very soothing! Pour it into a glass and drink the whole thing. It is very potent, so what I do is add honey to it and it really tastes like liquid food- like a soup base or something.
Another remedy that I use is cayenne tea- just put a tea bag of your favorite tea in boiling water, and add a capsule of cayenne & some honey. Since I have been using cayenne in tea, and orally, and drinking the onion ginger garlic tincture, I rarely get sick.. and when I do, I can kick it within 3 days maximum. Cayenne is also extremely helpful for menstrual cramps."
[YEA] 08/28/2010: Cleoppa from Cleburne, Tx: "Chocolate is amazing for coughs. Research has shown it's even better than cough syrup. Not so good is sugar. When I'm getting sick, I take pure chocolate. I don't think it necessarily helps me recover from my cold or flu quicker in itself. However, having a peaceful night where I can breathe easily definitely helps me recover quicker. I have tried many types of unsugared chocolate. All are gross. Sometimes I use baking squares. Sometimes I mix chocolate powder in water. Sometimes I eat cacao nibs. I think perhaps the most effective (and this may have to do with how much I can stand) is the baking squares."Replies
[YEA] 12/14/2011: Vetta from Northeast, Usa replies: "Faster than anything I've ever tried: One glass water (8-10 oz. ) drunk all at once. This thins the phlegm. Then one small plain chocolate bar, about 2-3 inches, like a "fun size" for halloween. Cough disappeared instantly for 3 hours. Had to repeat during the night, but fell back asleep right away with no coughing!
I suggest using plain chocolate (like Hersheys) without anything added to it.
The British have been researching this since 2004. Lots on Google. Works so well!"
[YEA] 04/10/2006: Anonymous : "Many researches pay attention on chocolate for curing coughs. An ingredient in chocolate could be used to stop persistent coughs and lead to more effective medicines. theobromine, found in cocoa, was nearly a third more effective in stopping persistent coughs than codeine, currently considered the best cough medicine. good try!"
Chronic Cough Remedies
06/22/2013: Paula from Mesquite, Tx: "I have this cough that I just can't get rid of. I get bronchitis ever June and the cough just hangs on. Any help would be appreciated."Replies
06/22/2013: Mahi from New Delhi, India replies: "Please try Apple Cider Vinegar and garlic juice for your Cough problems. Make sure you don't take it together. Take it separately."
06/22/2013: Mama To Many from Middle, Tennessee, Usa replies: "Dear Paula, I would agree with Mahi - apple cider vinegar would be a great thing to try and garlic also.
I have a son that deals with some chronic coughing. His seems to be allergy related. If you get bronchitis every year at the same time, yours may be allergy, also. For my son, once he gets sick, his cough remains long after any other symptom, or longer than anyone else's cough in our house. So, I will share some things that really help at our house.
2 T. raw, unpasturized apple cider vinegar and 2 T. honey in a mug. Add 6 oz. hot water. This is strong but it is really amazing for a cough. My children don't like it but willingly drink it because they know it helps. (Not my really little children. :) ) The warm drink and honey are soothing. But this time of year you may not like a hot drink. In that case, take 1-2 T. Apple cider vinegar and 1 - 2 T. Honey in 8 oz. of water morning and evening. This helps with cough, allergies and many, many other health problems.
Another son who has allergies just takes nettles and quercetin capsules. 2-4 nettles 2-3 times a day and 1 quercetin each time he takes the nettles. When my little girl with asthma wakes up coughing in the night, this helps her a lot. (2 nettles, 1 quercetin.)
Eucalyptus essential oil helps coughing often too. I put a drop of the oil on a cotton ball next to the coughee while they sleep and it often stops a cough for hours.
Avoiding dairy may help a lot, too. You defnitely shouldn't have dairy when you have any type of cough as it is mucous producing.
You should be drinking lots of water or herbal tea. Mullein tea (you can buy the tea bags) is helpful for cough.
Garlic is amazing for cough. I made a garlic oil this year that helped my children with cough when nothing else would. (Especially my toddler who isn't so easy to dose with anything.) I minced a lots of garlic and covered it with oil. I let it set for 10 days. I strained out the garlic. I massaged the oil into the back of the coughee and especially at night the coughing would stop and garlic will help with killing infection, too. Store the oil in the fridge. It should keep for several weeks. You can use the oil before 10 days, it just won't be as strong.
Let us know what helps you!

02/17/2014: Joy from Houston, Texas replies: "What type of oil was used with the garlic to rub on the child's back?"
02/17/2014: Mama To Many from Tennessee, Usa replies: "Dear Joy,
I used olive oil to infuse the garlic. I have also made garlic salve using extra virgin coconut oil and olive oil. I think the infusing of the oil (really in either type of oil) is stronger, but for right away use, garlic salve is awesome. Here is a link to the recipe:
Have a great day!

[YEA] 02/07/2012: Nai from Atlanta, Ga: "I had a very bad dry and tickly cough that didn't seem to go away (for more than a week). I tried every natural remedies possible, ACV with honey, ACV gargle, inhalation, eucalyptus etc... and nothing worked.
The only thing that did finally work was a deep gargle with Silver Biotics (Colloidal Silver). I did gargle with the solution then laid on the bed with my head on the edge of the bed so that the solution can reach the back of my throat. I kept the solution in my mouth for 6 minutes and then I slowly swallowed the solution.
I repeated the treatment 3 times since last night and after 12 hours only, I am already feeling extremely better. I just learned that dry coughs that last are usually caused by bacterias so unless you kill the bacterias, you are going to cough forever. Silver Biotics kills them in just minutes. I pray this will help someone feel better.
I use Silver Biotics (the best colloidal silver for me) because of its efficiency. I know it worked for my sinus infections, allergies, rashes, eye infection ect... This is the only silver solution that worked for me and my dogs."
