[QUESTION] Aggieized from Clovis, Nm writes: "I was wondering if anyone has tried this remedy on infants. My 8mo old is falling off the growth charts and we're looking into causes for his low growth. One thing is that he's had reflux from birth, and at about 3 mo he started taking Zantac. I'm not convinced it's done anything for him, and recently heard of this cure for reflux. Our pediatrician was curious too when I told her about this, but just said she didn't know anything about this cure, and said she's never heard of vinegar being harmful to babies.

Has anyone out there tried this with their babies or children? Any luck?

Even though my son is falling off the growth curve, his developmental abilities are right on track, and even ahead of his age in some areas.

Thanks for your help.

My son is two and got HPV on his tongue. The doctor said that he could have the wart removed by surgery but I was not keen on that. My son has eczema and instead of bathing in in a bubble bath we bath him in baking soday to calm his itchy skin. He liked to pour the powder into the water and one day he poured a small amount on the ledge of the tub. He put his finger in it and said yum! It became a daily routine for now 3 weeks and his wart on his tongue in totally gone. Now that H1N1 is rappant, our entire family is now drinking baking soda. We are believers!

[WARNING!] D. from NY, NY, USA writes: "Dear Ted,

How are you? I hope very well. I am writing just to let you know a bad thing that happened to my son. He will be 2 on November 7th. I was so fool to give him a pacifier since birth. I was trusting what everybody else was doing and industries and doctors. How foolish of me! I don't trust them in anything! How could I trust them on this one! So I gave him the pacifier up to 4 days ago when I checked on the internet to see up to what age it is considered safe for the children's teeth to use the pacifier. Many websites were saying it is safe until 2 years of age, some say between 2 and 3 or 4. The site of Colgate, very honest people, says that it is safe until 6 years of age (safe for them and for the dentists not for the children). Then I found a few sites warning about the use of that dibolical object beyond 1 year of age. A site of an independent Japanese dentist said that if you keep using it up to 1 1/2 year chances of getting dental maloclusions is 30 %; if you keep it up to 2 years it is 60% , up to 3 years it is 100%. His was the only honest site I think. So I rushed to check my son's bite and it is completely spoiled. I hadn't noticed before but there is a huge gap between the upper and inferor teeth. When he closes his bite completely he can still stick most of the tongue out of the teeth! His mouth looks exactly as the picture of the pacifier damages shown in the Japanse site. I am horrified. And I have let this happen. Now it is too late. He will have a lot of trouble eating (which can potentially make the problem even worse as the face muscles try to adapt) and when his permanent teeth will come out he will have to wear braces for years. Thank you Avent, Gerber and so on. I couldn't find a warning abut this on Earthclinic and I think it would be a good idea to post my message to help mothers take wise decision. By the way I didn't give a pacifier to my older daughter and she has a perfect bite.

Got to run! Thank you!

[QUESTION] Atlantis from Spokane, Wa, USA writes: "My son is 13 months old. His mother was diagnosed 4 weeks ago with a sinus infection. She then developed a pretty nasty cough. 3 weeks later, still the same. Then I get sick. I have the same cough, headaches and sinus pain and fever. Mom gets all these symptoms as well, plus sore throat and red spots on the throat, swollen glands. The doctor tells us he thinks we have the flu. The next day our son gets a cough and then a fever.

We are first time parents and I have never been too hip to American medicine. I just found this site today and I am super excited!! I am excited to do the H2O2 remedies and Apple cider vinegar...and prob a bunch of others.

Bottom line is my son has been sleeping and running a high fever.... Doctors pretty much tell us we have to wait it out... I think mom is going to have an anxiety attack worrying about our little boy.

There is a lot of good information on here for flu symptoms but nothing is specific for babies.........

I am in need of some specific things to do for a 13 month old.

Thank you so very much!!!!"

The rash disappeared within a week from her entire body and hasn't returned. Truth is i now use this website as my first reference, and have passed on the word to the parents with other toddlers. Thanks Ted for taking your time and sharing your remedies - your extra long emails are EXTREMELY USEFUL AND HELPFUL.

The recommendation of applying egg white from this site worked wonders. The pain subsided immediately after application. Anyway, about a month ago, and again, just a couple of days ago, my littlest (now 18 months) suffered a very red, raised skin rash in the nappy region. It was clear it was painful, as he cried and whinced whilst holding him on my hip. I remembered the relief the egg white had on the pain of his hand burn, so I thought, "why not?" I assumed he was experiencing a painful, burning sensation; something in his urine. I painted egg white on his bum with a small brush, and the pain relief was instant. Within 24 hours, the redness had subsided significantly. Lovely!!"

Rachel from Anna, Tx, USA writes: "Help with baby constipation

Please help- I have a nine month old girl at home with a chronic constipation problem for the last 6 months. If I let her go on her own she may have a BM once or twice a week and they are very painful for her to pass and very large. The doctors are not much help and I've done everything they have suggested with little change and even that only temporary.

I have tried the following: baby laxative consisting of magnesium citrate, changing formulas (from Enfamil lipil to Enfamil gentle ease-helped for about 3 weeks, earths best organic, and a couple of others), raw milk from Jersey cows, omega 3 supplement, probiotic, fresh fruit including peaches, pears, apples, apple juice, pears juice at least 4-5 oz a day which worked for 2 days then stopped working I stopped giving it to her because I feel that is too much juice, fresh blended spinach, Epsom salt baths, massage with almond oil and lavender essential oil, q-tip with Vaseline,
thermometer with Vaseline both inserted to stimulate a movement, steamed broccoli, raw garlic, dark corn syrup, concord grape juice diluted, aloe vera juice and now against what I believe to be nutritious soy formula. I give her liquid suppositories to make her go but she is now holding her BM in because it is so painful for her. I am trying enemas to help but she tenses up before I can insert them and I don't want to hurt her. Please if anyone knows of something I have missed please tell me.

I don't know what else to do for her. She's had an X-Ray which came back normal- nothing keeping her from having a BM. Also she only began having this problem when I began supplementing her with formula when I wasn't producing enough milk. While she was on breast milk she had no issues. But when I went back to work I slowly lost my supply and since then she has had this problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

USE GLASS BOTTLES FOR ACID REFLUX

[YEA] Lori from Dallas, Tx writes: "Using glass bottles to cure infants' acid reflux.

Through personal experience that was followed up with educating other new moms and having them try the same remedy, we think that acid reflux in many infants is being caused by plastic baby bottles.

There has been controversy regarding BPA of course. But even with BPA-free bottles, chemicals are still leaching into the milk, even when the bottle is new and even when the bottle has not been heated (one of the bullet points of what not to do with plastic).

Instead of repeating the details here, here is the link for the entire story regarding my granddaughter's horrible spitting up problem: http://bottleswottles.com/babyacidreflux.html and the link to a followup: http://bottleswottles.com/Story-AJ.html.

Since that time, we have been trying to accomplish a couple of things. Primarily, we would like to determine if indeed this could be true. That acid reflux in many infants could be cured by using glass instead of plastic. To do that, we need to get the word out and get testimonials back to show that we aren't unique... that this is indeed a problem.

Might you have any data on this already? If not, do you have recommendations on how we might go about accomplishing this goal?

Now, you can see from the link above that my daughter, as a result of her quest, started a business. If people use glass bottles, they will need to protect them and that is what Bottle Swottles are. But that is not my point here. I know your site will not promote or sell any products. That's not what I'm trying to accomplish.

I'm trying to figure out how to determine if we are on the right track. We think we are. We've seen it several times. Although we hear from moms that it works, we often don't get a written story from them about it. And that's what we think we need -- many testimonials before anyone will take an interest in this idea. Even my granddaughter's own pediatrician (who we normally are in agreement with) thinks we are unique, that this solution is not common. Therefore, she continues to prescribe acid reflux medicine to her patients instead of providing them with this simple alternative. If we had 30 stories from mom who remedied their baby's acid reflux just by discontinuing plastic bottles, doctors, the media, Oprah would be more likely to take an interest. This could be an amazingly simple and cheap and healthy solution. All we need to do is get the word out. But we're just a couple of moms and have no way to do that. We need help.

Please contact me if you have any suggestions or recommendations or data or research or links to other sites that could help us further this cause.

Thank you very much!!!

Susan from Maricopa, Az , USA writes: "I'm sorry if I'm doing this incorrectly. But I'm looking for some advice. I have a 3 year old daughter with multiple health issues. She is 100% G-tube fed and has GERD, neuropathic motility disorder, metabolic disorder which is believed to be mitochondrial disease. She was just recently in the hospital yet again because of vomiting, weeks of vomiting. She is on multiple meds for reflux and motility, yet she was pretty packed up on view of a KUB, though she was having BM's daily. She hasn't thrown up now in three days but the last two days she has been complaining and crying and then drinking water. she says it's her throat and I believe it's her reflux and acid coming back up. Now again, she doesn't eat by mouth and her diet consists of an elemental formula with Rice Cerealto thicken. She does receive a lot of meds. Everything is given through her tube.

I was searching for something else that we could try to give her for what I am guessing is the acid travelling back up to her throat and why she cries, drinks some water (which is thickened too - and she can't drink anything else or she will vomit) and I see information on ACV.. Any help on how to give her that? Would I do straight ACV, how much would I put down her tube? How often would one suggest? Anyone foresee it being a problem? I have her on a pribiotic every day already and then she is on two different reflux meds as well as mito "cocktails" and motility meds. I'm afraid she is getting backed up again? And why we are having more reflux issues? They have reduced her bolus feeds to a lower volume and more times during the day, but I'm seeing the beginnings of where we were a few weeks ago... she also has many bouts of hiccup episodes. Anyway, I just thought I would ask, I didn't see anything in the other questions like our situation, I may have missed however so again I apologize. Thank you. Susan

[QUESTION] Sangeetha from Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands writes: "My 6 1/2 year old daughter has started getting headaches from the past 2 months. I took her to the GP who couldn't find the cause. She wears glasses and I have recently got it checkes and her power hasn't changed. I am not able to figure what could be the cause of it. I or my husband never got headaches when we were young (we don't get it even now). I only get headaches very rarely when I have skipped a meal or when I have been too much in the sun. I thought these could be the reasons for my daughter to get it too. But from the past 2 days, I have avoided that for her and she still got the headache. Sometimes shortly after she wakes up, she has a slight headache. When it is slight, she is able to do her normal routine, play with her friends, etc. The headache is not accompanied with any nausea, vomitting, etc. A couple times she has got fever after the headache, but it goes off with 1 or 2 doses of over the counter fever/pain medication.

She is a little bit heavier than she should be, so I have been taking her for running on a field. Sometimes I have noticed that as soon as I mention that we have to go to the field, she gets a headache. And I know she is not lying. Could it be tension headache? I have told her this week I will not take her for running, instead just short walks on the street around the house (which she loves as we get to talk about all she likes to talk). I am going to check out this week by not taking her for running and if it continues, take her to padetrician next week.

What else could be the cause of her headache? And what are possible remedies. I don't think she would drink ACV or Cayenne pepper."

We did the athlete's foot creams, and only temporarily helped, soaked him in baking soda 3x a day and applying the cream after. Helped but doctor suggested a prescription cream, worked too, but a couple days later, it came back

We were headed to the coast that week and my father suggested to stick him in the salt water. My father said he would always get hurt with fishing hooks and stuff on deep sea fishing trips and such, but took a swim in the saltwater before coming home. I didn't want to, but while I was tanning, and daddy was swimming, neither of us noticed my father run off with him in the water. It didn't seem to hurt my son, so we pulled out a small pool for him and put a couple of buckets of salt water for him to play in. Later that night we took him a good bath and it seemed clearer and the next morning, the RASH WAS COMPLETELY GONE!! Hasn't comeback since.[this is like 3rd week]

I suggest taking a vakay, and sitting your child in a small pool of salt water, even with minor cuts and scrapes. I scraped my knee that day and it healed too after swimming. The salt water just cleans it all out, killing the infection, and cut, so it stays sterilized. Take a real good bath and check it out in the morning. I should have brought some home.. lol"

I have an 11 year old boy. He has had a very hard life just trying to live. he was born at 31 weeks. He has undergone 2 major surgeries the first at age 3 and the last at age 7. All for CP. He can walk now and had brain injury in the learning center which is rerouteing as they told me it would as he got older. Problem being now, He cant stay well long enough to enjoy a month of the year. He's always been a sick child but over the past 6 years its got totally out of hand. They say he has asthma, GERD, Migraines, chronic sinus infections and chronic constipation. He has had 2 sinus surgeries that have not helped at all. He takes allergy shots every week. He is on an antibiotic at least once a month but they don't seem to help, only long enough for the next month to roll around and for him to be sick again. He is so sick of taking pill and I'm sick of giving them to him. Oh yeah forgot to tell you, his immune system is way down. They say his really low but not low enough to give immunogobblin. His doctor did put him on a low dose long term antibiotic to try and straighten his immune system which seems ever bizarre to me. Antibiotic suppress the immune system i thought. I'd don't know. I'm sick of meds given by doctors and ready to try some thing that God actually put on the earth for us sick humans.

Can you give me guidance as to where i need to start? I know the constipation has got to probably be the first with the gerd but how do u have a diet for an 11 year old to cleanse the colon? Then respiratory

[QUESTION] DeeAm from Islamabad, Pakistan writes: "Hello!

I am a 30 year old mother. My baby is 7 months old and I also feed her. I used to have an amazing skin earlier when i was in my early 20's but now its dull and have black spots. I have tried using different products but nothing works for me. I have visible pores but i try not using soap because i have found that it makes skin more sensitive. i have also gained tremendous weight after i got married. I am Asian.

I would like to know if i can take ACV as i am feeding baby for weight loss as i read on this site...also what is the best quantity of baking soda that i can use on the skin in form of scrub as i have sensitive skin.

Waiting for a reply..."
