"Cerebral palsy (CP) is an umbrella term encompassing a group of non-progressive, non-contagious conditions that cause physical disability in human development.
Cerebral refers to the cerebrum, which is the affected area of the brain (although the disorder most likely involves connections between the cortex and other parts of the brain such as the cerebellum), and palsy refers to disorder of movement. CP is caused by damage to the motor control centers of the developing brain and can occur during pregnancy (about 75 percent), during childbirth (about 5 percent) or after birth (about 15 percent) up to about age three. Further research is needed on adults with CP as the current literature is highly focused on the pediatric patient."

[QUESTION] 09/14/2010: Dick from Wilmington, De: "Can ACV relieve the spasticity of Cerebral Palsy? Thank you"
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 04/09/2009: Alfred from Ransit, Thailand: "my neigbor has 5 year old son with cerebal palsey.. four months ago he could not hold his head up or stand..now he can almost stand by himself, and hold his head up.. he seems to be getting stronger as he gets older..I suggested ACV. I feel that cures everything.. Do you have any more solid cures. Stay well my friends
05/31/2012: Jay Mac from Gilbert, Az: "I have a brother who is 56 and has spastic CP. I am worried about people trying all these different remedies that are being proposed. What does arginine do to a person over time? Lysine? My friend's father took the wrong kind of Vit B pill and died due to kidney problems from the Vit B.
Some people with spastic CP can have a patch put on that loosens them up. You have to be tested and it works on some people, not others. It didn't work for my brother, but it did his girlfriend.
If you or your child is young and in a wheelchair, I strongly urge you to keep them active. Move their legs and arms, make sure their chair keeps them upright.
My brother sat too long and he has severe scoloisis, his spine is twisted from slumping in his chair, keep the back straight. Some type of physicial therapy is important to keep their muscles alive.
I will see if I can find the name of the medicine in the patch.
Also, don't underestimate what your child can do. Computers are wonderful for them. My brother types with one finger and does emails, and cruises the Internet all the time.
My best to all of you."
04/10/2012: Paul from Canton, Ga: "I plan on using Methylene Blue 0.01 % soon I'm about 6 weeks into the Cerebral palsy regimine. I'm taking Thiosulfate, sunflower lecithin, & wheat Germ oil, Lysine, Theronine, DMG & Niacinamide daily. How would this benefit me at this point?"Replies

11/21/2011: Richard from Wilmington, De: "Can severe and many-years prolonged dehydration greatly increase the spasticity of Cerebral Palsy? Thanks immensely."
12/08/2012: Z from Canton, Ga: "I bought a pair of 12,000 guass magnets, I'm using them on my brain and spine to help remove the virus's that cause my cerebral palsy. I am hoping it has the same effect of the rife machines and things similar that cost hundreds of dollars.
I been placing the magnets on my neck near the cerebellum & upper spine for about an hour or so for the past two day."
04/10/2011: Jermaine Cole from Atlanta, Ga: "About 3 weeks ago a started a regimen to remedy my Ceberal Palsy spastic deplegia, I started taking around 1000 mg of Arginine 2x a day, choline with carnitine 1/2 teaspoon of both 2 to 3 times a day, Ascoribic Acid & Niacinamide 1000 2x a day, about 12 g of Chlorella powder in the day and a tablespoon baking soda at night with potassium Chloride & magnesium citrate to alkanize my body.
I read Ted remedies on CP and other neurological conditions and it seems he recommends Lysine & Threonine highly, so I purchased L-Lysine & L-Threonine, as well as Glycine & MSM. This Weekend I started taking lysine & threonine together 1000 mg at every hour like he recomended.
I havent see much of a difference yet except for increase energy which comes from the 600mg of taurine I've been taking. I'm looking for I increase in my motor skills, decrease in spasticity, greater control of my muscles in my lower extremities."Replies

With in a week he could sit straight in his wheel chair, his lungs function is great, he is no longer trying to keep warm, his hands and fingers no long in a tight fist, no longer constipated. Medical check up: blood pressure, cholesteral, heart rate, functions normal, from high. Also his strength, nerves, muscles are being restored. He now can take physical therapy with hurting.. He is thrill able to help himself in many ways. it is really a miracle."

12/29/2012: Mominchi from Chicago, Il replies: "Hello, My son Sahil is a little one 3yrs, but has profund disablity and severe epilepsy. I can tell you from experience that medication must build up in the system to work. A convulsion will not stop by giving that one as an emergency med. Here in the US we use a short acting drug like a benzodiazapine (Midazaolam drops??) for seizures that happen despite regular med. They don't last long so you need another for everyday use.
As for natural cures for spacicity be sure that calcium and magnesium are balanced. Personally I try to get vitamins mainly from food so that this huge imbalance will not occur. Pills can push it 8:1 in favor of Ca and actually cause seizures, heart attacks, tone issues/ spacitity just on it's own. Calcium GREATLY increases tone and magnesium has the opposite effect. Remember this applies to ALL tone, smooth muscles as well so add it slowly or the laxative effect will happen. Usually this is a good thing for CP/neuro deficit disorders as they have a hard time with reflux and constipation, UTI ect."
11/27/2012: Melissa from Ashville, Ohio Usa: "Hello - I am an RN recently introduced to holisitic medicine and wondering if you have any supplement recommendations for my 9 year old son with CP. Two weeks after birth, he experienced right brain insults - resulting in affected speech, occasional drooling and left side hemiplegia. He is currently on a daily dose of Genotropin and weighs just 53 pounds. He has severe constipation issues and is having difficulties in school with reading and math. Alpha G has been recommended, in addition to hydro colon therapy. Any thoughts?"Replies
11/27/2012: Timh from Louisville, Ky, Usa replies: "Melissa: A good begin is a high potency multivitamin/mineral w/ whole foods, with every meal. This will crank up metabolism of body and mind. Extra Magnesium seems appropriate for both muscle contraction as well as constipation. Mag oil therapy is helping thousands of people w/ an array of disorders.
You will want to research the many "nootropic" nutrients being used for brain support. Latest on the list is Coconut Oil. Omega 3 Fatty Acids, SAM-e, Lecithin, Acetyl Carnitine, Vinpocetine, Huperzine A are just a few you would want to consider."
08/18/2012: Lorraine from Greenwood, Indiana, Usa: "Hello, After following the CP section for some time and reading BOTH of Ted's remedies (and preparing to try the one posted on 5/16/11) I am very confused now. Is it lysine or glycine acetyl + l carnatine that reduces the spastic condition, or some combination of all of these???
Also, Ted has said recently that if the primary cause is known a course of action can then follow, but what happens when multiple contributing factors are present??? In my own case, 1) my mother developed a tear in her amnionic sac and infection did set in, 2) possibly because of that infection, I was born approx 6 wks premature and breech 3) later I was dropped by a child who was holding me. (I presented as stillborn; the doctor decided to check for a heartbeat, found that my heart had not yet quit beating and suctioned me out.)
The results: thankfully am blessed with NO diminished cognitive function--I do have a college degree--- or speech, although I am subject to frequent bouts of depression;
Physically, though the matter is quite different:
- absolutely NO standing balance
- scissoring gait
- toe walking
- monocular vision
- VERY amonia smellimg urine, and chronic amonia odor/body odor generally down there
While planning for the 5/16/11 remedy, I experimented with Lysine & Threonine. I found that after a day or so my toes were a little straighter, but 4 hourly doses (at 2 teaspoons of each) gave me diarhea and I found myself more easily angered and annoyed. I wondered IF lysine could be causing that, but I don't know for sure. And I DO plan to try again!
Doing some work with RIFE as was mentioned here. After first 2 sessions, my toes, again seemed more relaxed and straighter, but with time direct effects become less noticable, though I am continuing the RIFE treatments, at 1 x 2hr session every other week
So, my question is: Which protocol is everyone trying???? There's a lot of information in the CP section now and I am entirely thankful for that growth, but I am also increasingly confused about where to begin and what supplements will truly be benenficial and worth my investment. Please help me EC community. Thank you for any advice and help you can give!!!!
Best wishes, Lorraine"Replies
08/20/2012: "Where did you get the RIFE treatments done? I want to get that done one day soon.
You can try one drop of DMSO I've been taking a drop full of the weekend before I got to bed. Its not enough to smell & its effecting with MG chloride or essential oil of tangerine."
08/22/2012: Justme from Toronto, Canada replies: "I can recommend for ammonia body odor issue watermelon. I personally don't have this problem, I was doing detoxing with it this summer, and I remember as I google it was mentioned that it helps to remove ammonia, read more about the nutritional value wholefoods website has a nice description, also works for uti infection. Also I recommend you change your diet to an all vegetarian and low sugar fruit (google diabetes diet to see the list of fruit), and no dairy as much as possible."
08/28/2012: Lorraine from Greenwood, Indiana, Usa replies: "Thank you for your help and your quick response. I receive RIFE and other biofeedback treeatments from The Frontporch Wellness Spa in Indianapolis, IN USA.
I need to look further into DMSO.
@justme Thank you as well for such a timely response! Hmmm.... I had not heard of using watermelon for the ammonia issue, but interestingly, after reading your reply, I read some place online that grape juice could help with the excessive ammonia, which brings to the table yet another option for those in need. I know that Ted discourages fruit juice because sugar is counterproductive to fighting viruses, but perhaps in moderation???
Thank you both again & God bless!"
07/13/2012: Mianeds from Islamabad, Pakistan: "Dear Ted, I've read a lot about u and now I m contacting u with big hope. I've my son, 3 years old. He was born at 36th week thru c-section and was kept in incubator for 12 days due to delayed - cry and respiratory disorder. He had weight of 2.2 kgs at the time of birth. Now the matter is that;
He cant sit properly, cant walk independently and cant stand on his own. Adducters, hamstrings and heel-cords are very tight. Right hand is not working properly and when he stands or walk his right heel is in the air I mean not touching the ground and he puts weight on his toe. Right side is week and spastic and left side is very mildly stiff. but he puts the left foot on the ground perfectly and can do everything with his left hand.
Other than this physical immobilty my son has no issue at all. His speech, cognition, understanding, responding, learning are all perfect and his iq is above 80. Kindly guide me what should I follow in his case, how to treat him?
ur Apple Cider Vinegar and alkalizing cures are very encouraging but I dont want to start any thing without ur recommendation after this case study. Kindly advise me the cure and also tell me plz how and where I can get these things? Regards"

I have been struggling with shoulder and back pain due to my spasticity and tenseness in my muscles. I have also been getting a lot of tightness in my stomach. It feels like Acid Reflux but not sure. Does anyone know of any remedies that would help my condition. Any help is greatly appreciated."Replies
06/15/2012: Pumpkin from Owasso, Ok replies: "I know it sounds simple, but eat bananas. 1-2 a day if it's that bad. My pain has gotten worse over the years, and one time at work it hurt so bad I could hardly walk. My friend/co-worker sat me down, went and bought me some bananas and had me eat them. I didn't think it would do anything. Since medicines don't, why would a fruit? But, in about an hour to an hour and a half, I was perfectly fine!!! Now, I'm married, and my husband tries to make sure we always have bananas around. Whenever I don't eat any for awhile, I start hurting. It basically reminds me "Oh, yeah. You need bananas." I hope this helps!! Good luck!!!"

12/23/2011: Dud from The Woods Of, Wv, Usa replies: "Take him to a chiropractor. He needs a spinal alignment. Try to get a real chiropracter, of the old school; most of them are rip-offs now adays."
06/30/2012: Lorraine from Greenwood, Indiana replies: "Benny Matt, Please check the CP "Questions and Answers" Sections as I think Ted has dealt with some cases very similar to your son's. Best Wishes"
04/17/2011: Apple224 from Zion, Il, 60099: "I have been researching this site for natural things to give my niece to help cure cerebral palsy and I have not found anything yet. Please help if you know what may help. Thanks"Replies
04/17/2011: Debbie from Melbourne , Australia replies: "Apple224 for your niece have they tried detoxing her body of mercury? You can google the benefits.
Some good ways to detox the body of mercury are Vitamin C, Cilantro (corriander), probiotics. Aloe Vera (fresh) taken internally is also meant to be good for detoxing the body.
I have had great results so far with my son (who has dev. Delays) by giving him Vitamin C and probiotics. I also crush garlic into a lot of his food.
A good article is here: http://www.all4naturalhealth.com/mercury-detoxification.html"
04/18/2011: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "Apple224, I found this great article which speaks of vitamin, and mineral therapy for improving children with learning disabilities which may help your niece. I am also going to try it with my son.
Early in 1981, the medical and educational establishments were shaken to their socks. Ruth F. Harrell and colleagues, in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (1), showed that high doses of vitamins improved intelligence and educational performance in learning disabled children, including those with Down syndrome. Though to many observers this seemingly came straight out of left field, Dr. Harrell, who had been investigating vitamin effects on learning for forty years, was not inventing the idea of megavitamin therapy in one paper.
The start of the second World War was breaking news when Ruth Flinn Harrell conducted her first investigations into what she called "superfeeding." Dr. Harrell stated in a 1946 Journal of Nutrition article (4) that "a liberal thiamine intake improved a number of mental and physical skills of orphanage children."
"An experiment was conducted by Dr. Ruth Flinn Harrell which involved 104 children from nine to nineteen years of age. Half of the children were given a vitamin B1 (thiamine) pill each day, and the other half received a placebo. The test lasted 6 weeks. It was found by a series of tests that the group that was given the vitamin gained one-fourth more in learning ability than did the other group. " (6)
Carbohydrates, including sugar, increase the body's need for thiamine. Children eat a lot of sugar. An unmet increase is effectively the same as a deficiency. This may be part of the mechanism of ADHD and other children's learning and behavior disorders, as many so-called "food faddists" or "health nuts" have proclaimed for decades. Vitamin deficiency can become vitamin dependency.
Though it is a stretch to say that all learning and behavioral disabilities are due to inadequate vitamin intake, it is certain that some are. Behavioral deficiency tends to show up before nutritional deficiency is recognized.
"The story of one child is particularly poignant. This seven year old child was still wearing diapers, didn't recognize his parents, and had no speech. His motor skills were relatively unimpaired and he could walk and run fairly well. In forty days, after some of the supplements were increased, his mother telephoned. .. Saying, "He's turned on, just like an electric light. He's asking the name of everything. He points and says, 'What zis?' Finally he pointed to his father and said, 'zis?' I said, 'That's your father and you call him daddy, and he looked at him and said 'daddy. ' I'm your mother; can you call me mommy?" She went on to say, "I think he saw us for the first time. " This little boy went on to do very well in his learning, and eventually tested with an IQ of ninety, which an average IQ."(24) I have seen a beautiful photo in Medical Tribune (9) of Dr. Harrell being hugged by one of the study group children. The kids noticed their own improvement.

05/12/2011: Mark from USA: "Hello Ted, I have a 6 year old daughter. She has Cerebral Palsy, Spastic Diplegia. Can you please give me an update about your Cerebral Palsy remedy?
05/16/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "There may be a possible cure for Cerebral Palsy, but this is based on another disease, MND (motor neuron disease) however the symptoms are about the same. In Cerebral Palsy, the mother gets infected and the disease goes to the placenta, however the only thing that will get through the placenta barriers is two things: the nanobacteria and viruses. When a fetus get infected, the viruses make the home in the brain, which is why you have this cerebral palsy. In fact they actually are active but it bypasses the immune system. In MND, you get infections from food or environment which enters various places. The ones I found it enters the stomach area and goes through the spinal cord, another area it goes through the nasal passages. In any case I found the cure for at least 2 cases like that with the antiviral remedy. The remedy I used (I was in a hurry) since the child was already unresponsive and advance condition of MND I had to get a lot of antivirals. The symptoms actually improve after one week and the child was responsive and be able so sit by herself. Enough about me, here it is the antiviral and antibacteria remedy for both MND and Cerebral Palsy:
2. N Acetyl Cysteine
4. L Threonine
5. Vitamin C
8. Andrographis Paniculata
10. Beta Glucan
11. Centella asiatica
That is the main remedy for both MND, ALS, and Cerebral palsy. As to the dose the most important is Lysine and Threonine (for a child dose) 1/4 teaspoons of Lysine, with 1/8 teaspoon of threonine, Beta Glucan 1/8, N acetyl cysteine 1/8 and vitamin C 1/8 every 1 hour for 4 hours twice a day for at least 3 days. If it is too sour you can add baking soda to it. The tryptophan is taken only twice a day. The colostrum is taken 3 times a day but at only 1/2 teaspoon away from the rest. Andrographis paniculata is taken in capsule form because they are too bitter and is taken 3 times a day, curcumin 3 times a day, and so is centella asiatica.
BHT is taken twice a day at 1/8 teaspoon. This should take care of MND, ALS and Cerebral Palsy in general. I know there are more things but that is the remedy I give.
06/19/2011: Daniel from Aberdeen, Wa replies: "I been taking MCT oil & Wheat Germ oil consistantly for two weeks as well as Aginine & carnitine & Choline together.
Niacinamide, theronine, & lysine togther at least 3x a day
I been taking atomic iodine, & Chlorella for 3 months for detoxaficaton as well as EDTA with MSM & Acetyl Cysteine & Baking Soda before bed
I haven't seen much results. what should I add to this to see more progression"
06/21/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The remedy mentioned to use arginine should not be given. According to latest research most cerebral palsy people have suspected viral infection that can can caused damaged, that is viral hepatitis B. Bacteria doesn't cross the placenta barrier as well as blood brain barrier, but virus does, and it does so with other groups of people, not subjected to cerebral palsy. Arginine especially would put fuel to the fire since virus requires arginine for growth and any other supporting remedy. But with lysine in the remedy it will keep virus in suspension. So the resulting thing is no improvement.
What is required is lysine and threonine yes, but without arginine at the very least. Whenever you are stuck with things that doesn't work you go back to the simpler things first. The core remedy is really simple, and is repeated in any antiviral remedy I give regardless of the diseases that are related to virus as follows:
Lysine 1/2 teaspoon and threonine 1/4 teaspoon hourly for four hours in the morning.
Lysine 1/2 teaspoon and threonine 1/4 teaspoon hourly for four hours in the evening
Continue this for two weeks but
If the child suddenly has a sugar craving add glutamine to the remedy - you add in 1/4 teaspoon to 1/3 teaspoon to the remedy.
What I found from my work is these viruses may be active in cerebral palsy, and if inactivated, there may be some cure for cerebral palsy.
You are also not following my protocol as per posting on 5/16. That would work also, but just start with this protocol better since I know some people have problems obtaining some of the things I required. The protocol is based on weight of a 90 to 100 pound person, since I assume it will be children, just calculate based on there weight.
So let us stick the basic first and get some improvement, and we go from here and once it's working we can try the other remedies slowly, but I wouldn't add arginine. Don't add other remedies that is not included unless you know what the do.
08/24/2011: Joshua from Columbus, Ohio U.s.a replies: "Ted, I have read through this whole thread and am not totally sure what I definitely should get for my son (6) who has mild CP and what I shouldn't. Could you give me more detail for someone who has never done any of this. Also do you do personal consultation through SKYPE or anything like that?"
08/28/2011: Joshua from Columbus, Ohio replies: "how many milligrams is 1/4 teaspoon of Thronine and lysine?"
11/23/2011: Zia from Dubai, Uae replies: "My son who is 4 yrs, suffers from speech delay, constant colds, tight muscles in right hand, right leg. He is a very poor eater, is hyper, has no awareness of his surroundings, is very aggrressivve ( bites, hits, pinches, screams ) and has been removed from different schools.
I am writing with a lot of hope to find some cure for my beautiful son. Please help me. I am a little confused by all the treatments that have been mentioned Dr. Ted. On 6/12/2009 you mentioned diff stages that are to be followed. But on 05/16/2011 you have given a new list of medicines. When do we follow these? What dosages are for children? Which stage of your treatment plan should we introduce these supplements?
I am desparately in need of help. Please help my child Dr.Ted."
11/23/2011: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "Zia, magnesium will help calm your son down and also help his tight muscles. I give my son epson salt baths and also magnesium chloride baths (both of which are calming). Epson salts are also a form of magnesium so you are giving it to them via the skin. I also give him magnesium citrate every day.
My son also has a speech delay and I give him iodine as well (lugols 5% 2 drops per day). A book I read said that magnesium and iodine are the first things you should reach for with these children (as they are usually deficient). Iodine will also help detox the body from heavy metals, flouride and bromide.
A good book which may help you is by Dr. Natasha McBride (Gut & Psychology Syndrome). She talks about gut issues causing many problems. She also has some good youtube videos you can watch. I have put one below. It is a 7 part video.
11/23/2011: Lardiver from Abbotsford, Bc Canada replies: "Try feeding him coconut oil, use the oil for everything and stop using other oils except olive. But coconut for him. MCT oil from health food stores is a good one, 2 - 4 tablespoons a day if he's small maybe less to start. Buy good quality cooking coconut oil, cheap stuff is not as good."
11/24/2011: Zia from Dubai, Uae replies: "Thank you so much for your quick replies Debbie and Lardiver.
I re-read my message , and forgot to mention that my son has mild cerebral palsy, causing spasm (tightness) in his right hand and rite leg. His leg turns inwards ( called Scissor gait or way of walking). Both knees tend to turn inwards. He has extremely low immunity and has very less energy throughout the day. He constantly looks tired. Also, he has loose jaw and mouth movment and thus drools alot. it takes ages for him to focus on one thing.
Is there something I can give for all these problems? Also, I couldn't find any Magnesium chloride, only mag citrate for adults ( nothing for kids).
Can I crush one tablet and give it to him daily instead of using MgCl as suggested by Dr.Ted??"
07/14/2012: Jeni from Orem, Ut replies: "What are the success rates for Ted's plan in children verses adults? (I'm 40) Thanks!"
