CONSTANT SORES AND SWOLLEN MOUTH

12/17/2007: Michelle writes: "I saw your website while looking for help with constant canker sores. However, I have a worse problem happening right now. I'm not sure what it is. All of the tissue on the right side of my mouth is swollen, red and raw. The pain is incredible. I can't talk, move my tongue, swallow. Even drinking water is incredibly painful. This is the right side of my tongue, the gums, the area below the tongue, the salvia gland, everything on the right side. There is even a crack on the right side of my mouth. I'm not sure what is happening. I've tried salt water, peroxide, and all of the other remedies for mouth ulcers. However, this just keeps getting worse. It isn't healing. Every day I wake up and it has spread more and is more painful than the previous day. HELP!"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Constant canker sores exist because of stress, lack of sleep, wounds in the mouth from bites, acidic foods, sweets, and most importantly, waking up too early in the morning and no toilet breaks in the morning, which leads to constipation. When toxins build up, canker sores flares up as the body cannot toxify the body sufficiently if the wastes still exist in the bowels, and you get toxemia.

Basically, the quickest source of relief, which is often the use of sea salt does help, but it works a lot better whenever plenty of baking soda is added until it no longer dissolved itself used as a mouthwash. Whereupon, a peppermint oil is applied to the area and is covered up with vaseline and this is done and redone, whenever vaseline gets removed, so it may be needed to be reapplied several times of the day, but most importantly in the night time. An addition of xylitol and zinc acetate added to the peppermint oil, of just enough to cover the wounds, about 100 mg each, then covered up the wound ulcers would do nicely. Glycerin may help too, but I used vaseline.

Assuming the canker mouth sores are of viral origin, then I would need B100 vitamin B complex, where most of them are 100 mg each, plus 50 mg of zinc gluoconate, and 1-3 grams of L-Lysine taken once a day for a couple of days.

Then I may need to take 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda internally twice a day, stop using sodium lauryl toothpaste, but use baking soda and sea salt (optional) with borax as a toothpaste. Added xylitol to it up to 20% can further help kill the bacteria and viruses to the wet paste solution that is made. But it should be noted that I have not had mouth ulcers for the past 6 months because also added plenty of zinc acetate or zinc chloride, about 1%-2% in the wet paste mixed I used to make toothpaste. In my opinion my own canker sores stopped when I now take at least a B50 once a week, 5 days a week baking soda, zinc added to my toothpaste formula free of sodium lauryl sulfate, and regularly used H2O2 1% as a mouthwash after the brushing of teeth. It should also be noted that I had not have constipation during this period, at least not a severe one too.

Certain habits needs to be changed. I would avoid using toothpaste, try to take a toilet break first thing in the morning (never delay it), try to prevent any constipation, avoiding sleeping late, and avoid sweets and artificial sweeteners as I found out later it lowered the immune system, destroys certain organs that controls the blood sugar because of these artificial sweeteners.

In the short run, I get most of my relief by applying plenty peppermint oil, but regularly alkalizing myself using either 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda twice a day in 1/2 glass of water, especially in the evening, will help.

It is important in my opinion to buy those dental pastes which seems to help healing. However, ulcers give rise whenever the body is low in vitamin C sodium ascorbate, vitamin B complex, zinc, magnesium and possibly lysine. Once the condition is gone, a maintainance dose may be needed for all of those, but especially, b complex, lysine and vitamin C. Baking soda and getting alkalized is still important. I sometimes also use 100 mg of zinc acetate in my mouth and keep there for up to 30 minutes to make sure they die. Green tea can be antiviral from the tannins and can be kept in the mouth too, although this tends to cause staining of the teeth if done too much and H2O2 1% used as mouthwash will remove whatever staining there is.

If I am desperate, I may resort to 20 drops of sodium chlorite in 1/2 tablespoon of water with 1/2 glass of water and keep in my mouth for 30 minutes, just to kill them. But in the long run it is the dietary issues, deficiency, and acidosis which causes ulcers, at least for me.

One experimental mouthwash, in case everything seems painful is the use of milk of magnesia as a mouthwash and added peppermint oil to reduce the pain, in case the pain is just unbearable, I always can use plenty of peppermint oil in my mouth several times. It should be noted that peppermint is antiviral and kills the canker sore virus, but the alkalinity of the milk of magnesia kills it too, as well as xylitol and zinc acetate in case you are wondering.

Sea salt is quite good for most mild cases of ulcers, but in tough ones, required a more comprehensive way to deal with it and other factors must also be be used too.

I hope this info. helps! If any problems, just email me for additional questions."

CHILD DOSAGES

12/14/2007: Derek writes: "Ted it s me Derek again, my son is sick again and this time he has ulcers in his mouth and cant eat ,have u heard of this and do u know what we can do ? Don't want to see him in hospital again , thanx mate "

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "

Ulcers of the mouth are due to constipation and excess acidity in the mouth from low potassium and alkalinity. Once the ulcers are formed, it generally requires a bit more time to heal. Usually conventional remedies require the use of an antibiotic dental pastes works quite well applying to the area of ulcers. However, my own simplest possible remedy required to use baking soda 1/2 teaspoon in 1/2 glass of water, and 10 drops of 3% H2O2, for example, and keep it in a mouth for a couple of minutes to at least neutralize the bacteria from the ulcers. This won't kill them completely, but at least it reduces further spread.

'

This is then followed by taking internally a child's dose of 1/2 of the adult weight, assuming of course, of 1/4 teaspoon baking soda plus 1/8 teaspoon of potassium citrate, in 1/4 glass of water, taken twice a day. The alkalinity will prevent further formation of ulcers. A peppermint oil mixed with vaseline applied to the mouth ulcers will at least stop the ulcer pains and help the healing in case the antibiotic dental pastes isn't immediately available."

DENTAL PASTE

11/01/2006: Rene from Guangzhou, China writes: "Ted, I have since five years chronic mouth ulcers and they get huge, 1cm in diameter and plus. I'm planning to start using the oil pulling method from tomorrow on. However, you mentioned using dental paste should be tried first. Why is this? I'm wondering what dental paste exactly is? I guess it isn't toothpaste, is it? I have consulted websters dictionary, but that was no help."

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Rene: Most dental pastes are simple soft waxes mixed with antibiotics that you apply on your mouth ulcers so the area of will be kept dry allowing it to heal properly. A drug store will have dental pastes for mouth ulcers, but for some reason or another the public is not aware of it. One popular dental pastes I used is something like this one: http://www.taro.com.

A constant mouth ulcers often indicates intestinal problems or excess toxic buildup, which create the mouth ulcers This can be reduced by clearing your stools often, such as the use of milk of magnesia. A steady use of baking soda will prevent future mouth ulcers. The minimum dose is 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in one half glass of water to be taken twice a day. Vary your dosage accordingly.

There will be times when the body needs a break after taking baking soda over the course of a week. So on the second week, give it a 3-4 day break, then you can continue again.

It is important to keep constipation in check and this does not occur. If this does occur again, try to take baking soda more frequently. If that is not successful then take it after every meal, but there may be a risk of loose stool in a few cases after meal. Be sure to drink plenty of water while eating and eat slowly, this will remove small pockets of acid pH in the food as they are digested and prevent bacterial growth. If the food was improperly chewed, the chances of food getting undigested because of the bulk causes toxin buildup which tends to buildup in the body and shows in the mouth ulcers.

Keeping the body alkaline will keep most organism in check, whether they be virus, bacteria or even fungus. Oil pulling will kill most bugs since the content of sunflower oil, contains lineoleic acid which does kill them."

DENTAL WORK CAUSED MOUTH ULCERS?

10/15/2006: Steven from CA writes: "Ever since i went to the dentist i have experienced mouth ulcers. I had a root canal done. They did go away slightly yet they have returned. One under the root of my tongue and the other below bottom teeth. What to do? Thanks Steven"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Steven: Mouth ulcers is frequently the body's accumulation of toxins which it has been unable to eliminate. I have mouth ulcers every time I get constipation or do not go to the morning bathroom regularly but try to delay by going later.

Since it occurred after your visit the dentist, then there is a question of additional toxins being introduced to the root canal that is put into it causing the problems such as amalgam containing mercury, cotton being put into the root canal, or other fillers which were not properly sanitized.

If conditions persists despite all efforts to detoxify then you must see your dentist and check what entered your root canal and re cleaning for example might help.

The simplest way to deal with mouth ulcers is just to buy a dental paste put on to the mouth ulcers and constant changes with this will allow the mouth ulcers to heal. It takes about two days to deal with it.

If that doesn't work, then other way is to do some oil pulling using refined sunflower oil and swishing around the mouth and spitting out the toxins several times a day. It is the same with the dental paste, but it is allowed to pull the toxins from the ulcers for a longer period of time, with changes of dental pastes every 2 - 3 hours. Old home remedies using beeswax might also be used as dental pastes but I don't know how well that worked.

However, if you are already having constipation now and then you need to resolve this by reduction in constipation by adding 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt, with 1/2 glass of water. This is a weak solution, at least for me. So just vary your dosage accordingly.

The other issue is to alkalize your body by taking 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda plus 1/2 glass of water twice a day, once in bedtime and once in the morning. The other issue is the possibility of heavy metals being introduced in the body as a result of the visit to the dentists. So a simple way is just to take 1 teaspoon of cod liver oil, and take on an empty stomach, and plenty of water, granulated powdered lecithin 1 tablespoon at three times a day. Improving eliminations is the one way of removing the toxins, the other way is to kill or neutralized the toxins that the body CANNOT remove. In this case, taking 6-12 drops of 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide in 1 glass of water and drink that 3 times a day. Always start on the low end of the dose, such as 6 drops to help detox the body.

It takes awhile longer to remove the ulcers, but if done right, ulcers should be reduced or cleared by about one week, the fastest is 3 days. But it must be noted that you need to use the dental paste first, it is a common treatment for mouth ulcers. Most local drug stores should have this, at least my local drug in Bangkok anyway."

HYPERACIDITY A CAUSE?

10/14/2006: Shirley from Ft. Meyers writes: "Thanks for taking the time to help others. Bless you! I frequently have very painful canker sores ( ulcers) in my mouth. Is this a problem with hyperacidity? Thank you for responding."

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Hyperacidity is related to painful ulcers in the mouth. A condition of hyperacidity is also related to constipation and water retention. In such condition, the body becomes stagnant and unable to rid itself of the toxins and causes canker sores or ulcers of the mouth.

So taking baking soda and citric acid will quickly alkalize the body and increase the body's oxygen level killing the bug. It will also stop the constipation and allow the body to rid of the toxic substances easier too. Drinking more water helps remove toxic substance, while eating more oils does the opposite.

In fact I have noticed also that when taking eating oily rich foods this happens too. The problem about oily foods is that they act like sponge absorbing bacteria, toxins, heavy metals during the cooking process.

For the unbelievers, when scientist do tests for heavy metals in liquid water, we frequently add oils to it and shake it. Upon separation, all the heavy metals are tested POSITIVE on the oils, but are tested NEGATIVE on the water. Therefore oil is a two edge sword. It is very bad to use oils in cooking by heating on pots and pans since it acts like a sponge to bacteria, viruses, and free radical heavy metals.

But the sponge analogy is that we also use them for cleaning. Therefore it makes excellent media to absorb heavy metals and toxins out of your body by taking 1 tablespoon of sunflower oil (the recommended method) and swishing in your mouth for a couple of minutes and do it a couple of times. (EC: this is known as the Oil Pulling Method)

The ancient Greeks took baths by putting olive oil and scraping the oil off, so they had a good idea of keeping their health too as they are aware that certain oils mop up toxic products from the body.

Since inside of your body is full of toxic products, taking more oils will not remove it, but lecithin, a fat emulsifier will, and removed safely via the feces and urine.

To treat your ulcers, apply dental pastes to the area of the problem. Change dental pastes as often and allow the wound to dry up and heal. And every morning, do oil pulling just using refined sunflower oil. And during the day on an empty stomach, take citric acid and baking soda. And at other times take plenty of granulated lecithin on an empty stomach. Always go to the bathroom as nature intends you to do it, otherwise toxins get untimely buildup and the result is ulcers. Most of all, avoid a heavy meal before sleep and avoid snacks, especially potato chips, french fries, fried chickens and too much meat products."
