[YEA] 06/30/2007: Ren from Cebu City, Philippines writes: "Mouth Sore Solution is proven effective for treatment of mouth sore and recurrent aphthous ulcer which cures in just a few seconds. It is cheap and available in the Philippine drugstores specifically in Cebu City. I don't know if it is available in other countries. Each bottle contains 4mL solution - Potassium Alum, Sodium Chloride, and Acetic Acid. Directions: Soak a piece of cotton bud into the solution and apply to the affected area. Let it stay for 20 seconds, and then gargle with water. That's it! the pain is gone in just seconds not days or weeks. Though it stings in the process of application but it's worth it than suffering in several days or weeks"
[YEA] 11/27/2008: Deborah from San Luis Obispo, California replies: "My dentist sold me a $40 teeny tiny bottle of solution and gave me a pack of little cotton applicators. He told me to be sure that the bottle is stored standing because it will eat through the plastic cap if left on its side!! Not very reassuring! Anyway, it truly does work like magic. Just as described, you put it directly on the sore for 20 or 30 seconds, rinse and the pain starts to recede immediately. A day or two and the sore is totally gone. My husband uses it with the same results.
I do also think my diet has a great deal to do with cankers, though. Too much peanut butter (more than once every three or four days) will for sure give me one. I recently also switched toothpaste and I have had only one sore since doing so. I think it was aggrevated by my teeth whitening procedure."

[YEA] 11/14/2008: Jill from Ashland , OR writes: "I have always had Canker sores. All of my life I have been dealing with having and getting rid of Canker sores. Finally I have found a solution, and I am very happy for it. All I have to do now is make sure I take a multi-vitamin every three days and I am totally fine. If I start to get one, I know I have missed my dose and take a vitamin and soon, it goes away. I am not sure what it is in the vitamin, I goggled vitamin and Canker on the web and found that it might be Vitamin B, B-12, Iron, Folate or Vitamin C. Either way, I have been deficient and now I will be sure that I have all my vitamins. Give thanks. And thanks Earth clinic and everyone who writes in, the posts here with ACV helped me get over my sore throats and stay healthy!"

[YEA] "Pau d'Arco brings canker sore relief. Use as a poultice on the site of the sore. Pau d'Arco is an astringent and soothes the sore so that eating is a little more bearable. L-Lysine does work wonders too. Try the Pau d' Arco as a poultice on the site of the sore for a bit of relief before eating."

RINSE AFTER BRUSHING TEETH, OMEGA 3S
[YEA] 10/02/2008: Mike from Sofia, Bulgaria writes: "I suffered with mouth ulcers for 20 years or more. Recently I realized I wasn't rinsing well after brushing my teeth, and I know that sodium lauryl sulphate in toothpaste is an evil chemical known to cause mouth ulcers. So I decided to rinse my mouth out thoroughly several times (and gargle) with water after brushing. Since I've been doing that I have been free of mouth ulcers. We're talking about months, so I am very pleased.
I've also been eating a lot more omega 3 (in tuna/salmon/lamb). I see some people here recommend flax oil, so that might also be responsible."
[YEA] 01/25/2009: Mike from Sofia, Bulgaria replies: "It's been many months since I posted this and I still have nearly no problems now.
In addition to the above I switched to Jason Healthy Mouth toothpaste which has no sodium lauryl sulphate. I rinse out thoroughly 3 times with water after brushing, and that's all I ever have to do.
These days I get the occasional beginnings of an ulcer but it quickly disappears - usually within a day and causes me no pain.
I would say I am cured.
P.S. for earth Clinic - why don't you follow all suggestions up with the original posters to see how they worked out in the long term? Most people post something here in a moment of excitement, but never come back to report their progress. An automated email with a form to fill in is so easy to do."

[YEA] 12/27/2006: Catherine from Corona, CA writes: "I've had a lot of success with rotating toothbrushes. Make sure you have at least four toothbrushes and when you have canker sores brush your teeth four times a day, but never use a toothbrush more than once in 24 hours. This worked very well for me for about ten years."

[YEA] 02/11/2009: Sherry from Saginaw, Mich. writes: "I'm subject to ulcers on the roof of my mouth. I try to avoid prescription meds. I recently discovered that swishing warm salt water in my mouth after brushing was very effective. Bananas are quite effective too. Recently, my gums and roof of my mouth both hurt horribly! Out came the salt water. I'd also read in "You, the owner's manual,"that taking 81mg. baby aspirin is extremely helpful. The problem is nearly gone, and I'm sleeping better, too! I can't ask for more!"

[YEA] 12/20/2007: Alexis Carlino from Conway, South Carolina writes: "I occasionally get canker sores every now and then. One day about 6 years ago I asked my grandmother, "grandma do you know how to get rid of a canker sore?!" She told me to either gargle some salt water or dab a little bit of salt directly on the sore. Of course it will burn and sting enough to make you want to possibly just bite your tounge, but after a minute or two the pain from the salt and canker sore subsides. Keep applying the salt each time the pain may come back, and soon enough your canker sore will be gone."

[YEA] 08/23/2008: Chelsea from Bloomington, IN writes: "I work in a dentist office and whenever I get a horrible canker sore I use Silver Nitrate Sticks. It burns for a little bit but then forms a wet scab over the area. I asked one of the Dentist at the office I work in why this works; and he said he had heard at in a CE class that it's because the canker sore is cause by a virus and the body does not heal the virus it just runs its course, so the Silver Nitrate injures the area, causing the body to heal itself. Although it stings and makes your mouth taste a little like an ashtray for about five minutes, it's totally worth it."

[YEA] 04/25/2008: Mary from Houston, Texas writes: "When I underwent chemotherapy, I would also get mouth ulcers. The doctor gave me a prescription for a mouthwash, but it was useless. Rather than suffer for days with mouth ulcers, I decided to cauterize them using silver nitrate sticks. Yes, this is painful but only for seconds as compared to 10 days of daily suffering with mouth ulcers. "

[YEA] 02/09/2009: Christian from Morristown, MN writes: "I used a generic sore throat spray with antiseptic in it. Sprayed it right on my canker sore, and it stopped hurting right away, a few hours later, it was slowly shrinking... about 24 hours later, it was completely gone. It also helps that the pain goes away almost instantly with it too, since it is a numbing solution."

[YEA] Brijette from Bettendorf, Iowa writes: "My husband told me to put a tea bag on my canker sore. It definitely took away the pain! As for curing it, I think it speeded up the process. The tea bag remedy is good for any type of mouth sores because of the pain relieving effect. I usually use black tea, simply because that's what I have around most of the time. Green tea also works, and I'm sure any kind will probably do the trick. It is not necessary to steep the tea first, however it does work better if the bag is already wet before applying. If the strong taste is too much for you, drinking brewed tea also works if you swish it around over the canker sore while you drink it. However, it's been my experience that the tea bag directly on the sore is much more effective."

[YEA] Brenda writes: "First, the tea bag, was very helpful in the healing process it definitely made the pain disappear in minutes as for the peroxide,i would use this as a last resort, but it does work! The tea bag was very successful! try it! it most definitely works! Use the peroxide as a last resort!"
