[YEA] 10/06/2006: Joni from Grafton, OH: "Honey is also great for BURNS. The other night we were burning some brush in the fire pit and being stupid I grabbed for a stick that wasn't in the fire, but instead grabbed a red-hot end of a burnt stick. OUCH. I ran to the house and put my fingers in ice water. I could tell I burned it deeply (the finger-pad of my forefinger) the other was small burn on the side of my thumb. Then I thought about what I had seen about burns and honey, so I put honey in a measuring cup and dipped my fingers in that. It took the pain right away, but it came back again quickly. So I alternated for an hour and a half between the ice water and honey. The next morning the blisters were unbelievably small and did not hurt AT ALL. In fact the burn felt less deep than it had the night before. Just the surrounding skin looked a little dry. The one on the thumb was completely healed. I have no doubt the forefinger would have been semi-serious if I had not applied the honey. Today (2 days later) you can barely see the blister, as it is flush with the skin and the skin all around the burn looks completely normal again. In fact I can see my fingerprint! I first found this website looking for honey cures and found a wealth of other things too. I love this place!"
[YEA] 06/24/2006: Richard from Boynton Beach, FL: "I spread honey over my 3 burned fingers which I had burned from boiling water and the pain went away after 10 minutes."
[YEA] 04/10/2006: Lucy from Blue Island, IL: "After burning, cool burn by running under cool water. Immediately thereafter, cover burn with honey. Keep burn covered until burning sensation eases. You may keep burn soaked in bowl of honey if easily accessible. I have healed even severe burns that have already blistered. By the next day, the blister will be gone and the skin above the blister will return to normal if the blister had not ruptured before using the honey. My whole family uses honey for burns."
[YEA] 02/12/2006: Soaring Hawk : "When my son was 10 he went for his first ride on a farm tractor. A couple of hours later when he got off he reached out and grabbed the exhaust pipe to get off. We immediately poured Raw Unrefined Honey on it & wrapped it in a clean 'T' shirt. Took the pain away very fast & the next morning when we unwrapped it the hand was perfect. No sign of a burn at all!"
[YEA] 02/03/2006: Brenda from Vicksburg, MS: "I have used honey for years on any burn and the pain stops immediately and it will not blister. You may have to apply it a couple of times but well worth the stickiness."

[YEA] 07/26/2012: Janis In Nyc from New York, Ny: "Cooking a piece of salmon tonight, with a honey mustard topping. As I was removing it from the pan to the table some of the hot honey mustard dripped on my finger, and immediately started to blister. I sat and ate dinner with my finger in a glass of ice water, changing it as soon as the ice melted. This was great until I removed my finger from the water. Then it would immediately start to burn again. I went to the Internet... And read page after page of home remedies until I spotted one that looked interesting. Honey mixed with flour to form a paste.
I mixed it in a small empty pharmacy pill bottle and dipped my finger in it. It burned for about 3-5 minutes more. Then stopped. I wiped off the gritty excess and left the mixture just on the blister. I now have a band-aid covering it, and it no longer burns. As a matter of fact, I'm typing this using the burned digit.
Can't tell you what a relief it is to know I'll be able to sleep tonight without attempting to keep my finger in a glass of ice water."

[YEA] 08/13/2012: Zathadady from Gas City, Indiana: "Sorry folks, I tried all of the other remedies on here, but the last 2 times I burt my phalangies I used white vinegar and a tad of the baking soda. As long as it roiled, it felt good. Same with alcohol, as long as I left it in soak and the rubbing alcohol stayed cool; it was ok. 30 minutes of soaking was too much, I was getting sick on the fumes.
Last night I burnt my left thumb and pointing finger on a super heated baking sheet (aluminum-very hot)
I ran the cool water for what seemed like hours(it was only 4-5 minutes) as soon as I took out the affected fingys, I hurt BADLY!!!
I decided to try a peroxide soak. It burt me for a second next to the cuticle and where the blister was, but after only 5 minutes, the pain was gone enough to wrap it loosly in guaze and try not to bump it all night! Please try it when you're ready to skip the pain! God Bless!"

[NAY] 07/16/2006: Anonymous : "NEVER use ice on the burn! I was scalded and the EMS came and they said that is dangerous, you can cause frostbite on the burn. Cold water is the accepted remedy. Aloe (prefer fresh) works wonders."

[YEA] Emily from Naples FL: "Ice really helps, i burned my thumb on a tray and put it in a small bowl of ice, if you have nothing else to put on, ice is your best option."
Replies[WARNING!] 06/13/2008: Freman from Baltimore, Maryland replies: "ice is the most dangerous of all to put on a burn. r u serious. u will damage the tissue by using it."
[YEA] 02/05/2012: Grannykeeperpdx from Portland, Or replies: "I have used ice and ice water for burns for years, but there are a few tricks. First, you have to leave the burn in contact with ice until it stops hurting, but you want to put it in a tea towel (thin dish towel or rag - not terry cloth). The trick is to leave it in contact with the burned area until it stops burning, about 20 minutes or so. This is for a minor burn. Once it becomes numb, take off the ice. If it starts to burn again, you need more time. This said, you must know the risks of shock. Dumping a cup of hot tea in your lap and burning your genitals can easily put you into shock. This happened to a friend of mine and they put ice water packs on her (rags soaked in ice water) for quite a long time. I was there to see it. They sent her home with ointment of some kind. Cold stops the tissue from cooking, but you can also freeze the tissue and damage it. So, you have to use common sense. If you leave ice directly on skin for too long, it will freeze it like anything else. Check it often. If you can't take the ice, use ice water or rags soaked in ice water.
Know the symptoms and risks of shock. If you are alone and you are at risk of going into shock, call 911. Do not try to treat yourself. Do your homework, and use common sense."

[YEA] 01/22/2012: Maria from Montreal, Quebec: "Use lavender oil (preferably pure) to relieve pain from burns, also speeds up healing process and leaves burn area with no or almost no scarring."
Replies[YEA] 10/22/2012: Medina from Birmingham, W.mids, England Uk replies: "I've used neat lavender essential oil on minor burns for years for pain relief and speedy healing, but the real test came when I burnt my hand fairly badly with steam. Despite running it under a cold tap & applying ice my hand turned bright red & began to blister. It hurt like crazy. I applied neat lavender essential oil for the pain which took my breath away every time I moved my hand or a slight breeze caught it. The lavender oil dulled the pain for an hour or two then had to be reapplied. The next day, the pain had gone completely, as had the blisters and redness. It was really quite a dramatic healing effect. It calms the pain immediately, but needs to be reapplied every 2 hours or so, and also heals the burn. Amazing stuff."
[YEA] 03/18/2008: Doris from Murfreesboro, TN: "Lavender Shower Gel for burns. The best thing I've ever used for a burn is Lavender Gel. I had heard that Lavender oil was good for burns, but when I burned my hand all I had was a tube of the shower gel. I put it on my hand and the pain went away in a couple of minutes and the redness was gone the next day. This has happened several times and the Lavender Gel never fails. My husband, who was a skeptic, burned his hand but when he put the gel on he couldn't believe the immediate relief he got. He's now a believer."
[YEA] 05/20/2006: Lynn from Lake Havasu City, AZ: "The essential oil of lavender applied directly on to the burn immediately eases the pain and if you are consistent with applying it, will not peel."

[YEA] 05/19/2006: Tze Kang from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: "This is one of the few traditional medical oils that I found in Malaysia that has very good healing power on minor burns like hot water, hot oven, fire burnt. It really surprised me when i first used it because you will not get swollen finger or hand with fluid inside if you apply on the surface immediately after the burn. Furthermore, the pain will disappear in less than 5 mins. And, your skin will not rip off however, when the skin totally recover it will just peel off naturally without any pain. Please be sure u apply it immediately after the burn, else the effectiveness will be lower."

A telephone number would be very helpful.
Thank you,

[YEA] 10/19/2009: Sol from Fayetteville, Nc: "How many times have you gotten grease splatter on your body when frying, like chicken, porkchops, etc. Next time it happens take a glob of cold ___ mayonaise and cover the burn area and think about what you are now feeling. You can immediately feel your burn pain go away and about 15 minutes later when you wash it off you won't even have a burn mark. I did it and was amazed."
