"Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchi (medium-size airways) in the lungs. Acute bronchitis is usually caused by viruses or bacteria and may last several days or weeks. Chronic bronchitis is not necessarily caused by infection and is generally part of a syndrome called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); it is defined clinically as a persistent cough that produces sputum (phlegm) and mucus, for at least three months in two consecutive years.

Bronchitis may be indicated by an expectorating cough (also known as a productive cough, i.e. one that produces sputum), shortness of breath (dyspnea) and wheezing. Occasionally chest pains, fever, and fatigue or malaise may also occur. Mucus is normally green or yellowish green and also may be a neon orange or green, depending on the species of the infected." I took the prednizone once and woke up the next morning with a terrible headache to the point of bruising the back of my neck from trying to make it go away. finally most of it went away but the terrible cough. I had been going to work on 2 hours of sleep and my throat has been killing me. Last night i stumbled upon this website, Thankk God! I read all the post on the avc remedie and decided i had nothing to lose. I mixed 2 Tbls. of avc with 1 tbls honey in 1 cup of water and heated it up. i quit coughing and was able to sleep the night through by drinking only half the cup. I'm drinking it right now because i woke up coughing but its helping to make it stop again already. Im very happy i found this website. I can finally get some sleep!!"

As i am a singer i needed my voice back in a hurry. So while i was laid up in bed i found your website. I always get most of my medication from the health shop, but i must admit i had never heard of your ACV. So i bought all my supplies and started making up all the potions i had read about, and sure enough after the first day i really felt so much better. My voice was back in full strenght in a few days, and a few other problems i had got much as well. I am sold for life. i cant stop telling people about it. It has also worked for my family and friends. Thank you for this wonderful site. Anna"

[YEA]  01/06/2008: Jennifer from Rockford, Illinois: "I am very predisposed to having cold, sinusitis, bronchitis, and up til now, I have taken probably 1/2 dozen different antibiotics, nasal and oral inhalers, and decongestants. Taking so much at once tended to make me feel worse, and the inhalers ultimately irritated my sinuses. I finally tried a couple different acv recipes to relieve my cough and sore throat. I have not taken one prescription since, and I'm having trouble less often. As soon as I feel a tickle in my throat, I reach straight for the acv. My preferred recipe is 3 parts acv, 3 parts lemon juice, and 2 parts honey with a shot or so of hot water to help dissolve the honey. I've read that organic would be better, but I've just used the standard grocery store stuff, and it's still been nothing short of miraculous. The taste is honestly not as bad as any cough syrup or decongestant I've ever taken, and it's easily twice as effective. The tickle in my chest that precedes a serious coughing fit is STOPPED ALTOGETHER before I even finish drinking this. I am still sort of stunned at how effective this is. Last night I didn't get a chance to mix up a little thermos to bring to work with me, and I regretted it this morning. The congestion in my chest had built up during the evening and overnight, and this morning the cough had settled in a bit. I've been taking a dose every couple of hours, or whenever that tickle comes back, and I've already gotten a lot of congestion out of my chest and sinuses, and my ears have cleared out and everything. This is the most phenomenal and fastest-working remedy I've ever used. I've been spreading the word to my friends and family since. I'll never take decongestants again! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!"

[YEA]  10/11/2007: Ginger from Wadsworth, us: "My 6 year old daughter was coughing uncontrollably EVERY 2 seconds yesterday. She has allergies and a cough that accompanies it. Her allergies and cough lasts throughout the school year. However, yesterday she sounded like she had bronchitis. The cough was non- stop. I was very desperate for a solution for her cough. I stumbled across the site and went out and bought Apple Cider Vinegar. I tried the remedy and it worked. Today I bought _ Apple Cider Vinegar with "The Mother" and THAT DID IT. It has been 20 mins now AND NO COUGH. I am SO AMAZED I FEEL LIKE SHOUTING IT FROM THE ROOF TOP. I have spent so much money on cough syrups that DON'T WORK... this is all it took. My entire family will be taking this EVERY day as it has MANY MANY other health benefits as well. If you are desperate for a cough remedy THIS IS IT... please go and get ACV NOW, IT WORKS.."

[YEA]  P. from Jackson, IL: "I bought ACV when someone told me that you could loose weight with it. It also lowers blood pressure. I had a virus this year, I coughed so much the doctors put me on Prednisone. It did not help. I have asthma and recently found I have bronchitis. Nothing helped me to stop the hacking, painful cough I had, plus the sneezing and the sinus draining. I started drinking ACV and taking vitamins. It took some time, (two weeks) but finally the cough has subsided. I only cough once in a great while. You cannot use regular ACV because, it has been processed, filtered and what ever else companies do to food. You must buy natural ACV or make your own. I bought ____s because its available and the Mother has not been filtered from it. If there was another brand I was sure of and cheaper I would use it. ACV is good for regulation, drink gobs of water. You won't need much ACV, a teaspoon or so. Oh! I did loose a few pounds but, you have to drink it 3xs a day every day. Unfortunately, I am not an every day person. After reading this site I am going to try taking ACV more often to loose weight."

The burn didn't really effect me. Immediately I feel a little more alive, and my nose is less clogged. I think this will really work if I take it every day. Miracle cure!

I regularly get sinus infections due to a deformity in one of my sinuses. Until a few years ago when I found this cure I had regular bronchitis and lastly in 2005 I had serious pneumonia. I opted out of health insurance years ago so I had to take responsibility for my own health.
I got onto one of those $39.95 sites with the magical cure but this one WORKED! So here it is for all of you.

The following essential oils are 89% antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal. Cinnamon, Clove and Oregano. First, get the best quality you can.

These oils work magic together BUT, you can use just one or a combo of two if that is all you can get. Put 2-3 drops of each oil in a steamer or a steaming pan of water. BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET THE OILS ON YOUR SKIN...They burn. Cinnamon and Clove burn. (Cinnamon Oil is the main ingredient of all those lip plumpers :-) Now, inhale the steam with your eyes closed and take it in as deeply as you possibly can, breathing through the nose and the mouth alternately. When I did this with my pneumonia, I felt a kind of crack in my lungs after three or four breaths and everything started to come loose. I coughed up all the guck and was completely well in 5 days. I was so sick that I had bruised my ribs from the coughing and I was very, very weak. Now at the first sign of anything respiratory, I do this. I have never had a reoccurence of bronchitis or pneumonia and very seldom get any sinus trouble anymore. How happy I am that we can all share these wonderful old rememdies with each other! I have chronic bronchitis and as the permanent damage loosens it does not come out right way rather I go through severe choking spells both day and night, impossible to breath or expel enough to make a real difference. I also inhale essential oils 7 times a day in boiling water, almost four years now 15 broken ribs and one coughed out intestine. No relief. Am I doing something wrong or is this the process? First you have molasses, we call it 'melasa' it's the syrup or caramel from reducing the sugar cane juice. They pour it in moldings, let it solidify and that's 'piloncillo' you can get it in Hispanics Markets. After that they make brown sugar with it by using some bleaching and then it's converted in white sugar by more chemical bleaching."

[YEA]  11/22/2007: C from Atlanta, Ga: "Cough and congested chest remedy. Three teaspoons of flour, one teaspoon of dry mustard and an egg white. My mom has a great remedy for a cough and chest cold. Three teaspoons of flour, one teaspoon of dry mustard and an egg white. Make a paste of theses ingredients. Then you should spread it on a white hankerchief or something very light weight and I assume dye free. YOu then should rub your chest with vaseline. (The paste is exothermic and can burn your chest.) After that you should place the hankerchier (with the paste foled inside) on your chest. Every so oftern chekc to see if you need to apply more vaseline (to prevent burning). Dress warmly when you rest and I promise when you wake up , you will be cough and chest-congestion free. My mother always did this for my nephew and I just did it for my 11 month old. He had congestion for a week, and the night I did this (after over the counter medicines) my son no longer had congestion or a cough. Try it. It really works."

I made it up, held it on w/ an elastic bandage, then went to researching exactly how long I should leave it on. There were extremely conflicting opinions - everything from "don't ever do this to a child" to "it's okay to leave on overnight." Well, I didn't want to do any harm, so I left it on about 45 minutes and then removed it. Within 5 minutes, he coughed up more mucous than I've ever seen in my whole life. So much, it made him throw up, but there was definately a ton of chest gunk everywhere. sorry...I know that's totally gross! but really, it was amazing and I can't be convinced that it wasn't the paste that did it. He still has some congestion, but I'm using alternative methods, as I have yet to decide on how safe this one is for children. However, it was incredibly effective for that one time - he was having very productive coughs for the rest of the day."
02/20/2011: Wendypape from Blah, Canada replies: "Avivia Romm has a book Naturally Healthy Babies and Children and she gives step by step instructions for mustard plaster, a picture and times etc Hers is different from this one. [YEA]  06/17/2011: Jessica from Edmonton, Ca replies: "My family has been using mustard plasters for generations. Not only do they relieve chest congestion associated with a productive cough, but are also amazing when used in conjunction with a steamer for turning a dry caugh into a productive one. We have used them on children 3 years and older with amazing results! Until now I had never heard of mixing it with egg whites, as my family has always mixed it with hot water.

1tsp mustard powder, 3tsp flour, and enough hot water to make a thin paste. I find that a peice of old flannel bed sheet (double wrapped) works the best. Lay it on your chest for no more than 45 min to 1 hour at a time, less for sensitive skin.

CAUTION:I recomend checking skin every 15 minutes to ensure you don't burn. A little bit pink from the warmth and moisture is ok, and you should be able to feel a bit of heat from the mustard. If it gets uncomfortable, or if skin starts to go red take it off and wait until skin returns to normal. If it takes skin more than 30 minutes to return to normal, do not continue.

I hope this helps your family as much as it has helped mine! :)"

09/01/2011: Jay from Toronto, Ont, Canada replies: "To: Abc Pneumonia from Kansas City, Missouri, Usa.

Let me try to answer your questions in order: "Jay, did you swallow the chopped garlic on an empty stomach, or did you eat before taking it? After swallowing it, and drinking the cup of water, what reaction followed in your body?"

Raw garlic is a broad-based natural antibiotic. The way I and others have used it to clear up chest /lung congestion is to crush and chop 2 medium or 3 small cloves and let sit for 5 minutes to let the enzymes start to work. Then I put these finely chopped pieces in a tablespoon and into my mouth. At this point I swallow as many times as necessary to swallow the complete amount of garlic and follow with 6 to 12 ounces of plain water. For me I do this on an empty stomach and have no after effects other than the obvious garlicy breath.

I followed this procedure daily for a couple of weeks and eliminated a lingering congestion problem that didn't seem to want to clear up on its own(which I thought might be leading to the more serious condition COPD.

Since then, at the first sign of any chest congestion I follow this procedure for a couple of days for a quick resolution of the problem.

To me the key elements of this treatment are 1. - raw garlic, 2. - crushing and chopping allows the enzymes to start working, 3. -continuing the treatment on a daily basis(and ignoring the social implications of garlic odour :) ) until original congestion symptoms are gone.

------

Your second question : "Were there stomach cramps, hotness of the stomach, stooling or vomitting."

I certainly have never experienced any of these reactions and would strongly suggest that anyone experiencing any of these stop the process and explore other treatment options. There are several other natural products that help eliminate chest congestion; garlic just happens to be very easy and very inexpensive.

------

Your third question: "Will this be good for a woman, that has lost a lot of weight, and has chest pain?"

Now this question confuses me as chest pain suggests a different problem entirely. The above addresses chest congestion which entails some breathing difficulty along with coughing up mucus/phlem with these symptoms persisting beyond the normal 1 week chest cold variety.

Chest pain needs a more detailed investigation and is not something that can be addressed properly via internet chat."

09/01/2011: Gavin from Manganui, Northland, New Zealand replies: "If you take cayenne with the garlic. You'll find that the mucous starts coming up in about five minutes."

[YEA]  08/15/2009: Lex from San Francisco, Ca: "I discovered that garlic cures acute bronchitis by accident...

I've been diagnosed with acute bronchitis and been sick for a month and two weeks and nothing seems to be working. It appeared as if I kept on getting relapses...

Growing up, I've always been told by mom that garlic is good for the health and what not. I've also been hearing it from others, tv, etc. But I've always thought it was just for minor things like a sniffle or so...

One day I decided to go "gung-ho" and chop fresh garlic into my salad. Maybe it was my primitival instict kicking in, but I thought that maybe strong dose of fresh garlic may do something. On the same day, I decided to include fresh garlic into everything - including my dinner pizza. The next day I started to feel better. I still wasn't sure if that was just a calming state before another relapse so I didn't jump into conclusion. Second day passed, Third day passed, and now I'm on my fifth day of feeling back to normal.

I then "googled" garlic and cures to read about garlic and its healing properties. That's when I found this site and discussion!

Thank you."

[YEA]  10/16/2007: Laura from Seattle, WA: "I've been using garlic for years for a variety of things. Usually I use it for colds. At the first sign of a cold, chop up 4 cloves of raw garlic and eat. I prefer to use it as a garnish on an already garlicy type food like soups or spaghettie, it helps make the taste not so obvious. Keep up with 4 cloves a day, then reduce the number as your symptoms decrease. This can stop a cold from manifesting, or it will shorten and weaken your colds. I used to have chronic bronchitis after every cold, now I haven't had it in years. I also only get one cold a year usually. Yeah, I don't smell great but I'm not missing so much work!

I will also use raw garlic juice on rashes and bug bites. It stops the itching immediately, and I pretty much use it for anytime I might need a phytoncide."

[YEA]  01/09/2007: Michelle from Albuquerque, NW: "Fresh Garlic cured my Bronchitis and Sinus Infection. 1 finely diced clove (not the entire bulb) 3x's daily with any complimentary food that has been cooled almost to room temp (eg. diced tomatoes, avocado, chicken noodle soup, spaghetti sauce, pizza, or even apple pie.) Garlic is a natural antibiotic and antifungal. Within an hour or so, easier to breather and think, in 4 days cleared up symptoms. Took for 7 days to eliminate any chance of becoming ill again. Drawbacks: odiferous breath, and the odor also emanates from the pores of the skin. Use strong breath mints/cologne/essential oils to your liking."

Replies
10/28/2010: Saoirse from Ny, NY, Usa replies: "Here's the way without any odour--

Get a clean, small jar
Dice up a clove or 2---
Put it in the jar
Juice a fresh lemon or might need 2
Put the fresh juice in the jar with your garlic-

You want to have more juice than garlic, like a 50-50 or one third garlic....2/3 lemon juice--simply eyeball it-
Now you're ONLY going to take the liquid, not the diced garlic! Somehow the lemon juice extracts the potency from the garlic. Take one tsp 3-4 times / day always followed by water. Keep it refrigerated

And make a new batch every other day as needed, usually about a week at the most- can be used for insect bites---you see the swelling go down in under 5 minutes, etc

Try it
No garlic breath and the benefits of citrus together with it."

[YEA]  09/27/2007: Diana from San Diego, CA: "I have found that if I eat anything with corn in it I will get a sinus infection I have alway thought it was the high frutose corn syrup because if I eat or drink anything with the corn syrup in it I get sinus infections. Also just corn tortillas will do it. I don't know if it is just all the altering of the corn to to enhance the growing process but something is wrong with corn now. Also, when something tends to be in everything...just the amounts that are consumed can create allergies to it. All I know is that Corn is one of my biggest factors in getting sinus infections and bronchitis. If it does go into my chest... Lymphomyosot by Heel is a good homeopatic remedy for it. I can alway clear up the bronchitis within 24 hours with it. Just take it every 20 minutes until you feel it getting better then do it 2 to 3 time day until well. I don't get bronchitis anymore since using it. I use to get bronchitis 2 to 3 times a year before."

06/21/2011: Don Matteo from London, Uk replies: "It is possible that you are reacting to the corn because it is in all likelihood genetically modified. The biotech industry downplays adverse effects to GMOs, but in truth you are eating something that has been genetically altered using viruses and bacteria. They rigorously deny the possibility of horizontal gene transfer, but the presence of BT toxins in the blood of 93% of a sample group of Canadian women belies that. There's already plenty of evidence that the Bt-toxin produced in GM corn is toxic to humans and mammals and triggers immune system responses.

[YEA]  06/22/2009: Rick from Boscawen, NH: "Spices and COPD, Chronic Bronchitis:

A year ago, I was diagnosed with chronic Bronchitis - COPD, so severe that my ears turned blue from lack of Oxygen. My blood pressure was very high, too. The DOT immediately yanked my Health card for driving truck. When I went to the Dr. my Oxy saturation level was 81. He put me on an inhalor and I had to use a Nebulizer several times a day. Nothing really changed. I could breathe a little better, but was still able to walk only for short distances. I love to cook, and tried to think of the healthiest people that I know. I started cooking with spices from China, India, and other Asian areas. I use curry powders (in various heat ranges), Tumeric, Cayenne, Garlic, Ginger, Paprika, Mustard, Wasabi, and others. I use one or more of these ingredients in every meal, and most snacks, that I cook. About two months ago I had a physical, blood work, and EKG in preparation for surgery. My lungs no longer "wheeze" (I do have a bad day once in a while...but not DAILY); my blood pressure was normal; my Oxy sat level is 95 to 97 percent; (both) Cholesterols were at healthy levels, and, except for my COPD, I am as healthy as can be! The best result of eating all that good, spicy-hot, healthy food is that I can walk at least a half a mile without "running out of breath." I have NEVER posted to any Website but feel that people should be aware of the benefits of spices and herbs. I have now found a local store that sells 1 pound packages of spices, instead of paying $4 to $7 in grocery stores for those little bottles. The savings are phenomenal. This is the best site that I have found that re-enforces my belief in hot foods. Thank you EARTH CLINIC"

[YEA]  10/25/2011: Eliza from Tampa, Fl, Usa: "I've been reading the posts here on use of HP since last night. Have used a nebulizer with albuterol off and on for several years. This is my allergy season and I'm congested and coughing. I was about to use the neb as usual this morning and instead took a look at the bottle of HP tucked away in a cabinet. It's 3% and label says okay to use as a rinse. So I put 1/8 tsp in the neb and used it. Nothing happened, no sudden upchuck, but I will continue using the hp instead of the drug and I will add updates.

Nice web site Earth Clinic! I'm passing it on to friends!"
