[YEA] 06/10/2009: Nic from Athens, Greece writes: "Boils: recipe Turmeric + Sesame Oil + black pepper
Hi everybody.
Another post, this time it's about what helped me with the latest boil, which appeared right after the first rain of summer just like it happened a year ago with another boil and two years before and so on. First of all, there is certainly a connection with seasonal rain and pollution, I was ready for the first rain trouble, but unfortunately I had to be outside on that particular day. Within an hour the boil started and became quite big, the next days it got huge. I started with turmeric in warm water, and applied some topically too, it helped a bit, but then it got very nasty, the next few days I continued with onions (compresses), eating raw garlic and ACV+honey. Nothing changed. I thought that turmeric and all the other remedies worked temporarily for me and took antibiotics and aspirin. Again, nothing AT ALL changed my condition for the better, so I stopped taking any medication. A day and a half passed and I started reading the testimonies and info here again and again thinking that perhaps the answer to my problem was hiding somewhere. Indeed, I read about combining turmeric powder with oil or fat, I'm allergic to lactose, but coconut oil was mentioned, so this reminded me of oil pulling and I use top quality sesame oil for that. Yesterday, on the verge of arranging an appointment with a doctor to have it lanced after having lost my faith and courage, I did the following:
Two tablespoons of sesame oil
Five tablespoons of water
I warmed them a lot, without boiling them I then added one teaspoon of turmeric powder and a bit of black pepper. I stirred well and drank it.
In half an hour the boil that was the size of a golf ball by then, burst, and kept draining for half an hour! The size of it was reduced to minimum! I could feel comfortable again, relieved! Amazing I said to myself. But hey, there's more: All night more fluid came out and in the morning when I thought that was it, it's over, it burst one more time.. and in the end, a white little thing popped out as well, I guess it was the root!
I hope this recipe will help someone out there. If turmeric has worked temporarily for you, maybe in really ugly situations you need to combine it with something, such as oil (sesame oil or coconut oil) or milk/creme.
Best wishes to all of you and thanks Earth Clinic!
Your fan."
07/26/2009: Judy from Jackson, MI, USA replies: "I love Turmeric for its anti-inflammatory properties. Over a year ago I suffered from arthritis in my hips. I was (WAS) in so much pain. I couldn't walk with my usual speed. My hips would actually lock up on me. I wrote about Turmeric because I was researching multiple spices/herbs and their natural abilities to heal when I came across information on Turmeric and pain management. I was so amazed with the results that I now take it daily and wrote an article about it also. I love the stuff!"
10/02/2009: Anniea from Durban, Kwazulu Natal, South Africa replies: "Hi Judy, I just wanted to let you know that within weeks of having TITANIUM tooth implants fitted, my joints began to swell & stiffen, & twice I had to be given a cortisone injection to unlock my hip joints. No less than 3 specialists insisted that I was suffering from a rare fast & early onset of arthritis! I knew they were WRONG & that it was an allergic reaction to the TITANIUM. I visited a top HOMEOPATH in Durban ~ South Africa, who managed to source some titanium & prepare some homeopathic tabs , and within a week I was back to normal & have been for at least 10yrs now. Oh! Once I took some SILICA from a health store & BOOF! my hip joints locked again, but after taking antihistamines & drinking plenty of water, it disappeared within hours. I'll never touch SILICA ever again.
Please visit a renowned HOMEOPATH & learn what you could possibly be allergic to. It's worth it ~ trust me.
Love & LIGHT,
~@nnie~ Durban"
02/10/2010: Matthew P from Virginia Beach, Va replies: "I am a Nurse Practitioner and practice nutritional healing. Turmeric is an awesome root and has many properties. If you are getting boils you are toxic. Your body is trying to expel poisons that have built up. Turmeric is good for the crisis phase among other things but "disease prevention" necessitates a deep liver cleanse, bowel cleansing, and some juice fasting 3-14 days. This is the only way to help your body get rid of the toxins...

[YEA] 02/25/2010: Patricia from Viroqua, Wisconsin replies: "I discovered a boil on the face of my healthy 9 month old daughter. She is our fifth child and I had never seen this on any of the other children.
I identified it quickly and responded the first day with tea tree oil. To my surprise, it continued to grow.
Day two, I applied colloidal silver about 6 times per day. But, by that evening, I could see the boil was steadily multiplying. One boil was now four. One 1/4" round and the others about 1/16th".
Day three I found your website and was intrigued by the turmeric treatment. I created my own recipe that went like this:
2 T coconut oil
2 T turmeric
10 drops tea tree oil
10 drops oregano oil
10 drops colloidal silver
1 opened capsule acidophilus
1 opened capsule 2,000 IU Vit.D3
I applied this very potent, messy paste to her boils (and put her in some older clothes we didn't care about).
By the end of the day I noticed all growth had stopped.
Day four, the healing was obviously underway. All of the boils began to heal over, the smaller ones nearly diminishing.
Day five, I applied the paste only at night.
By morning, I could see only a mark where the largest one had been and very faint marks where the smaller ones had been.
All total, I applied the paste for 3 days with excellent results!
Thank you for the invaluable website!"

[QUESTION] 03/02/2010: Swanner from Cumbria, Uk writes: "Hi
This isn't a Yea or Nay for Turmeric, more a question.
Many people say they have seen great results when taking Turmeric, but did it make the problem worse before making it better?
I ask because I am taking two 800mg capsules per day, I can't stomach the turmeric powder, I have tried various ways and it makes me sick, so I have to use the capsules.
But it seems to be bringing out more boils, I have two on my inner thigh, a huge on under my arm and one on my stomach.
I have been taking Turmeric for 3 weeks maybe a little longer.
I also take one garlic capsule a day.
My hub says maybe it works by bringing them all out first, but I haven't read that mentioned on here anywhere.
Please can anyone give me some advise :)
Thanks
S"
03/03/2010: Dj from Pdx, Or replies: "Swanner,
Check the lable for the potency of the product you are taking. Some have reported turmeric capsules that have fillers and aren't as potent. You want to find as potent as you can or get empty capsules and make your own.
Also putting a turmeric paste on the boils will help them heal sooner. But remember turmeric stains so use oversized band-aids and wear your grubbies to bed.
I hope you find some relief."

[YEA] 02/12/2010: Robin from London, Oh writes: "TUMERIC for BOILS! I've been getting boils (usually on my face)for the last ten years whenever I get stressed. They do not grow much bigger than 2 cm or contain puss that I can drain, but they are tender and unsightly for weeks. I turned to Earth Clinic and discovered that tumeric is the answer. I added 1/2 t. tumeric powder to 4 oz. of hot water and drank it three times a day for two days. By the third morning I decided the boil was well on its way to dissappearing so I ended my "treatment" at that."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 02/12/2010: Angel from Birmingham, Uk writes: "I don't think I have got MRSA, well when I went to the doctor about my recurrent boils he didn't mention MRSA. But I tried turmeric for about 5 weeks, the dose I took was 1tsp twice daily in 1 glass of water. Some days I took only 1tsp and some lazy days I didn't take any turmeric. Nevertheless, I didn't get any large boils on my chest and back like I used to and I didn't get any on my face. I did stop the turmeric and the boils are coming back, but I will restart the turmeric, probably for a longer period. Im a 20 year old female and have been getting recurrent boils since I was 14!! I just wanted to ask one thing, will I have to take turmeric everyday for the rest of my life to prevent boils? Would 1tsp twice daily be too much? what doses would you recommend? thanks."
02/12/2010: Sara from The Beach, Canada replies: "I take 1 tsp of turmeric in half a glass of warm milk with a little honey to taste. (Golden milk). I enjoy it and it is beneficial in many ways beyond boils so why not take it every day. This is enough for me."

02/16/2010: Sara from The Beach, Canada replies: "I use a straw, held further back in my mouth. the only stain is a patch on the back of my tongue, and that is usually gone in a couple of hours. even if i drink it warm to hot i use a straw."

[QUESTION] 02/11/2010: Swanner from Cumbria, Uk writes: "Hi
After reading through your extremely informative site I decided it was time to post my first question.
I have been suffering from constant recurring boils for over 4 years now, mostly on my inner thighs but the odd one under my breast and I currently have one on my stomach. I am lucky if I am free from them for even a week.
After reading through your site I decided to purchase some Turmeric capsules from the health food shop. I have been taking them for only 5 days but have yet to see any results apart from a couple of the boils have burst. My question is for those of you that have used Turmeric for this purpose how long before you seen the boils stop recurring?
Many Thanks

02/12/2010: Lita209 from Sanford, Fl, Usa replies: "Hi Swan! When I had my boils (from August last year) I tried everything I read on EC; turmeric, aloe, baking soda, etc. I wanted to let you know what really worked for me was the garlic. I think I started with garlic in December since the boils would always come back. I would break a garlic capsule and applied the oil on my boils(the smell is not so great)and also would take them internally. I also bought Hibiclens wash. When I started doing this is when I noticed a big difference. Today I only have the scars but I am boil free. I hope this helps you on your quest. Good health to you!!!"
02/12/2010: Swanner from Cumbria, Uk replies: "Hi Lita209
Thank you for sharing your story. I never thought of garlic, I will purchase soon asap and give it a try, I really hope it works as it is really getting me down. I have 4 large ones on my inner thigh at present. I don't know how the Turmeric is supposed to work, I thought maybe it is mean't to bring them all out initially, but I'm not at all sure. But it does appear to be making them worse :(I have been tested for MRSA and it's not that.
Best of health to you too
Swan"
02/19/2010: Francisco from Dallas, Texas replies: "Swan, hello, I hope that my input helps you some. I had a severe case of these boils and the way I cured it was as follows: I took for about 3 months, 4 to 8 capsules of turmeric, once in the morning, and once at nigh before bed. Also, I drank a large glass of organic-apple cider vinegar and water mix for about the same time, I sipped this glass of water with about three spoons of vinegar throughout the entire day. It has been almost three years since then, and I had one or two very small-pimple-like boils a few weeks ago, which went away rather easily. I learned this remedy in this wonderful site and I still so very grateful. I hope this helps you ... good luck!"

[YEA] 01/16/2010: Brian B. from Grand Rapids, Mi. writes: "I started to get the boils on my butt area last fall. After one would eventually get better another one would appear in a different spot. The doctor I went to suggested soaking twice a day in hot water to help soften it. Without a satisfactory solution I came across this website late one night about a week ago. I immediately went to a local grocery store and I was in luck, they carried turmeric. I have been taking it religiously 3x a day with yogurt and the results have been fantastic. At the time I had one boil at maturity and another close to it. Both have dissipated without much drainage and it looks like they're going to heal much better than the previous ones I had.
I've never used natural products to solve a medical condition before, but I have to say this one has definitely worked extremely well. I'm glad I found your website."

[YEA] 12/23/2009: Denfarias from Katy, Texas, USA writes: "Tumeric - Boil
I had found this site by researching natural flea remedies for my new puppy about 2 months ago. And have since used it to help my family and I many times.
What I thought was an ingrown hair on the top hair line in the pubic area quickly developed into a boil in one day. I saw it on Friday morning Dec 19 and applied antibiotic salve,by that night it was so painful I could barely walk. I read the many tumeric remedies and went to buy some. I started taking it that night, 1 tsp mixed into hot chocolate. YUK! I didn't notice any relief but continued the drink twice a day. In the mean time I also tried the mixing tumeric with tea tree oil and applying topically. Nothing. I also ground up garlic and applied that on a bandage, OUCH!! Nothing. The pain had diminished a small amount, but no drainage. FINALLY on day 5 it burst open and I have some relief. It is still draining and very ugly, the pain has gone down drastically. I will continue to take the tumeric twice a day until it is gone!
It is so much better to take it either mixed in my coffee or in hot chocolate. It tastes terrible and the smell makes me nauseous but I don't stop. IT WORKS!! THANK YOU!!!!!!"

[YEA] 11/25/2009: Marie from Orlando, Fl writes: "I've always gotten boils (mostly on my thighs or near my bikini line) though they've never been painful and tend to go away on their own. However, last week I got a large and tender one underneath my armpit. I've always shaved my underarms without any sort of irritation, and have been using anti-perspirant for years. However, when it appeared, I was unable to shave OR use deoderant, which was uncomfortable. I used a hot compress approximately 5-7 times a day, soaked in an epsom salt bath, tried tea tree oil, used natural deoderant, and even stopped exercising for fear of sweat production making it worse. Then I came upon this site and saw that turmeric could be helpful. Interesting is what I thought. I use turmeric a lot as I enjoy curry and Indian foods. I decided to try a paste and applied it over the boil as I slept. I mixed about 1 tsp of turmeric powder with olive oil and honey to form a paste, spread it over the area, and layered with gauze. When I woke up, it shrunk approximately 50% in size and was no longer painful. While the boil is still there and it's still red and slightly tender, it was in no way as bad as it was yesterday. I'm definitely remembering this treatment and will continue to use it!"

I have been sitting here for the past 4 days barely able to walk due to a giant boil that looks like a frickin volcano poking out of my waistline, and I just took 1 tsp of turmeric powder, warm water, and a little honey and INSTANTLY i feel better, it's unreal! I've been using oil of oregano on previous boils and it seemed to work ok, it did not cure the pain but it seemed to help them pop faster. But this, wow, all my pain has been reduced by a huge amount in a tiny amount of time.
To give some background, I am a 22 year old male and have been dealing with boils on my right arm for the past couple months, but this one on my waist just appeared, and will hopefully soon disappear thanks to the wonders of turmeric! Thank you for the wonderful site and information!"

[YEA] 11/07/2009: Martha from Neodesha, Kansas writes: "I have been battling a string of boils for about six weeks now and thanks to this website I found something that really works! I tried the tumeric and found it to be amazing, if only I had found it when the first boil reared its ugly head I most likely would have been over this much sooner. I am taking 1/2 teaspoon of tumeric mixed in 1/2 cup soy milk internally 3 times a day as well as using tumeric mixed with diaper rash cream containing (zinc and magnesium sulfate) which are both supposed to have healing properties. Something I found really helps relieve pain or itching is getting into the shower and spraying hot water (not so hot it burns the skin but as hot as I can stand)directly on the boils then alternating with cool water. If I have a boil that is draining I cover it first with a waterproof bandaid so as not to spread the infection. I am allergic to tape and bandaids so I remove it as soon as I get out of the shower and dress the boils using cotton rounds and clean white cloth such as cotton feed sack towels or diapers that can be purchased at dept. stores, laundered then cut to size. Something else one might consider since tumeric stains, if you wear dentures you might take them out while drinking the tumeric. I take mine out then drink the tumeric with a straw. If you do get tumeric on clothing it can usually be removed by soaking in a cleaner that contains oxygen. I had 8-10 boils on my backside and now none are open or oozing but I do have reddish purplish scars and varying sizes of lumps under the skin where the boils were. The lumps seem to be getting smaller though and hopefully will disappear in time. I am so thankful I found this website. My husband had a boil with numerous openings and ended up having surgery on it leaving him with a hole the size of a baseball in his backside. Too bad I didn't know about tumeric before it got so bad. I might add our boils do contain staph but not the resistant kind."
11/30/2009: Martha from Neodesha, Kansas replies: "This is an update to the turmeric notation made 11/07/09 - As of 11/30/09 I have continued to take tumeric and all lumps from previous boil episode have completely disappeared and scars have lightened with no further outbreaks! My husband developed a second dime sized boil which seemed to appear overnight and in a very unfavorable location. He began taking tumeric at once and I applied a paste of tumeric and triple antibiotic ointment covering it with a dressing which was most difficult to keep in place, a jock support was very helpful! It drained then sealed within 3-4 days at which time I switched to turmeric and diaper rash cream. Within 10 days I couldn't even see where it had been! Much better than the baseball size hole he ended up with from surgery on the previous boil! He says he will take the tumeric over surgery any ole day!"

At first I thought it was a spider bite, but it just kept getting more sore and more uncomfortable and BIGGER! I've come to this website for other issues so I decided to see if there was anything about boils...and of course there was! Thank you sooooooo much! I've had the boil for at least one week, but it started getting more irritating within the last few days. I took a hot, hot bath Sunday evening thinking that the heat and moisture would loosen the puss and eventually begin to drain. It helped, but not much. Only a tiny bit of puss came out and after a few hours it was painful again. I tried the 1 tsp of turmeric in a half glass of warm water last night around 10pm. I woke up to go to the restroom around 4:45am and my gown was wet in the spot where the boil was. It was disgusting, but it was AWESOME all at the same time! Remember, I've had it for at least one week and it was getting bigger so all the puss didn't come out at once but it is so less painful!!! I'm at work and I've been feeling it oozing for the last 30 minutes or so. I'm also on my second glass of the mixture. THANK YOU GUYS SOOOOOO MUCH! HOW DO I SPELL RELIEF? TURMURIC!! :)"

Tried to lance the one on my face. It would drain then become painful again. I tried ice (has worked to reduce swelling in the past and bring it to a head), tea tree, lavander, alcohol, bentonite clay etc etc. Found turmeric on EC and immediately tried it. I had to adjust a couple of times because it seems to make me light headed (not bad, but different) and stomach upset. This is what I ended up with and continue to drink 1-2x daily. Each time I drink, it causes boils to tingle. They are not completely gone but are in the process of disappearing daily.
2 cups water
1 tsp. turmeric (bulk organic from health food store)
pinch powdered ginger
pinch cinnamon
3 cardamom pods
1 tsp. coconut oil
Heat until steaming. Add 2 Tbs. half and half and 1 tsp. honey.
I am a big tea drinker and this is not bad at all but I cannot do more than a couple of cups a day as I stated light headed and weakens stomach. I am going to try and continue this through winter to see if it also helps with arthritic symptoms."

It then spread to the side of my neck on the right that also got so big, then drained. Then on the left side near my hairline there was a lump that would fill then go away, but would never drain until a3 months ago it just started to get bigger and bigger and more and more painful.I then decided I needed to turn to hollistic healing and found this site and read about turmeric. I have been taking it since july 28 and I was hoping it would help me with this problem. I drink it in my water 2 teaspoons in a half cup. I soon as I drank it I could feels sharp tingling where ever there was a cyst. Some filled and drained, others just went away. The big seemed to just get bigger .Then on august 16 after continuing with drinking it and putting a salve I made with the turmeric with milk. It drained on its own and is still draining, the pain is gone and I can move my neck again, there is no more pus, just a liquid the color of the turmeric. All too familiar with the pain and trauma that goes with this malady, I needed to look for some kind of treatment other than just hot compresses and waiting for the long arduous process of healing. After reading the testimonials on your web site I decided that I would give the tumeric treatment a try. After a run to the store I mixed a good dash of tumeric with neosporin and applied it to the boil, then applied a bandage over it. After combining 1 tsp tumeric with a 1/2 cup of milk, I warmed it up and down the gullet, better not to taste it. Three (3)cups of the tumeric milk mixture I drank throughout the day. It made my stomache a bit sour but I laid down and kept my mind occupied, and drank plenty of water, while this concoction took effect. The next day I awoke, I went into the bathroom and pulled the bandage off and observed what was to me some sort of miracle. I have never seen a boil drain almost all by itself like it did. Seeing the results is believing and I wanted to add my experience to the rest of the successful testimonials. All is well again with my skin. My father is also afflicted with boils and I have told him about it and he is trying it right now. Thank-you"

I just happen to be experiencing one of my episodes with boils. I bought the turmeric and smelled it and tasted it and no way that would go down and stay down. So I bought empty gel capsules and filled 4 to 5 of them with turmeric powder, from an Indian resturant/store. That is equivalent to 1 tsp. That did not seem to be doing much, until I read one of the newer accounts that indicated that turmeric was oil soluble. So I bought some Almond Oil and honey and tried the tea recipe, but no way I could drink so much tea. So I did a paste of 1 tsp turmeric and about 1/2 tsp almond oil. I also add a drop of honey just because I bought it. It looks like peanut butter. I make this paste and with a paring knife I stuff it into the gel capsules and drink them down with water. No taste in my mouth and it works. By the end of one day the pain of the boils was gone. I just had to write to let you all know. I will continue and see how long I can get away with not having any boils. Lord willing, it will never happen again. Thanks to all who have passed on their testimonials."
07/13/2009: Hil from Esco, CA replies: "Since I wrote the above I have gotten better, and a boil that had been hanging around is at the moment still draining. I am now trying the Turmeric mixed with antibiotic ointment on the outside. This boil has been draining for a few days now. That has never happened to me before. They would drain and then seal off to return another day. The problem I am finding is that my combination of turmeric and Almond Oil has given me some very loose bowels. So now I am taking 1 tsp worth (or 4 capsules) only every other day, so obviously my healing has slowed down. I have read many people that have used warm water and the turmeric alone, (from the hidradenitis suppurativa section here). I will try having a cup of tea and just the powder in the capsules to see if the oil is what is demanding my immediate attention. Since I understand that I should be ingesting 3 tsp of turmeric 3 times a day, and I am far from that. Lord help this to work, it has been so many years."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 06/30/2009: Sharon Johnson from Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada writes: "Hello, NEED MORE HELP!!!! I have had some pretty good success with the Tumeric powder, mixed with Coconut oil and sometimes sesame seed oil and made into a paste and then applied onto a large bandaide which I put a membrane from a egg this helps to also draw the toxins etc out for me. Also twice a day I drink the solution Tumeric 1tsp with 1 tsp coconut oil and a bit of cayenne powder mixed into a 1/2 cup of water and drink. Boil has gone from a egg size down to a thumb size, which is great but it has been 2 weeks and really want it gone Totally. I also take 2 lysine tablets daily and immune tablets once daily plus on Golden seal for 1 week and went off for awhile as directions say so. All these remedies I have tried from people off your website. I have tried others but found these one's so far the best to reduce the size of boil. Please suggest something else other than going to doctor. Really tired of wearing large bandaides and drinking Tumeric. The tumeric tablets too expensive for me. Much appreciated, Thanks Sharon Johnson"

[YEA] 06/28/2009: Anonymous from San Francisco, CA writes: "I first discovered Earth Clinic because of a developing condition with boils in the groin area - very embarrassing. They always occur in the same spot at the inner thigh and the panty line. It started about 3 years ago and I had no idea how or what they were until I began to do research. At first, they were smaller and would go through the process and burst naturally. Initially, they would cause pain while walking and I could not exercise - but for the most part, I could operate normally. I began to take the Tumeric and for about 6 mo to a year they stopped developing - I was ecstatic. If I did get one, it would always occur around my menstrual cycle and I could always "nip it in the bud" with Tumeric. Recently, we traveled for a couple days to a very hot area and right after we got back, I started developing one (of course in the same spot). I began to immediately take the Tumeric pills after every meal. It did not seem to help - the boil got so big, that I could barely walk and had to take time off from work - this has never happened. It is so embarrassing that you cannot explain it to anyone - on top of the physical condition. I continued to take the Tumeric and refused to go to the hospital - I knew they would lance it (very painful) and I wasn't ready to do it yet b/c boils have a natural life cycle. Finally, after 4 days of progressively worse pain in which I could not get out of bed (at the end), the boil came to a head. I did begin to drink 1 teaspoon/hot water Tumeric tea at least a couple of times. I usually take the pills straight but was desperate. The flavor wasn't that bad and you can always add honey or whatever you like - it has an earthy taste. I tried to encourage relief by using hot compresses also (which I think worked) and it finally burst. I will continue to take the Tumeric religiously and not get off of it. This was the most painful and debilitating situation to this point and I just wanted to share my experience w/ others. I hope one day there is a simple cure for such an embarrassing and painful condition."
07/01/2009: Roxy from Atlanta, GA replies: "It is good to see someone with my exact issue. For a minute I thought I was the only one in the universe with this problem. I have the same experience once a month with my menstrual cycle. I've been dealing with it since I was in my teens. I'm 25. I always know when my cycle is coming because I develop boils filled with red stuff and it is so painful. I literally cried for like an hour last nite because it is so unbecoming to have to deal with this every month.
I've been to the dermatologist and was given bactroban for topical treatment and some horrible smelling antibiotic to take. The combination slowed down the boil process but did not eliminate them.
I came to the earth clinic last week and found Turmeric. Ive taken it and it reduced the soreness and swelling of the boil. I am hoping and praying that this is the answer to my prayers. I don't know how much more of this I can take.
Does anyone know if the draining fluid from the boil is contagious after it burst?"
07/04/2009: Cindy from Minneapolis, Minnesota replies: "The condition you have is called hendritis sepertiva I'm not sure if I spelled it correctly. It also goes by the name acne inversa. I try antibacterial soap. Dry off really good after the shower. I then apply bacatracin ointment. Ater the skin is dry I apply a antibacterial powder. I know this isn't the most natural way, but it helps a little. This condition was the reason I was looking up this web site. I also found that when I lost some weight that it wasn't so severe. I read somewhere that neem extract helps and I got a bottle of it, but it don't smell to good. It always seems to be the worst before the monthly cycle starts so I'm beginning to think it has to do with hormones. Any ideas!!!!"
EC: Lots of ideas on the hidradenitis suppurativa remedy page!
08/29/2009: Bgirl from Gainesville, Fl replies: "Roxy,
My understanding is that the fluid that drains is contagious. I would do a good job of cleaning the site so that it does not spread."
09/18/2009: Lita from Sanford, Fl replies: "Thank you Cindy from Minneapolis, I've had this condition you gals are describing for years and never knew what is was. Very informative. Thanks!!"
[YEA] 10/19/2009: Sharik from Arcata, California replies: "On the subject of boils; yes they are very contagious. I use the alcohol swabs found in the diabetic department of your pharmacy to clean the area before applying any and all cures. Store brands are very inexpensive ($2.95 for 120) and I can clean my hands, as well. Over the years I've found that when my immune system is compromised, I'll get a boil (stress, illness, toxicity). Turmeric is the only thing I have found to be consistent in keeping them at bay. As I am 67, they no longer occur 'monthly', thank the Universe, but I still get them occasionally. I then look for the source of the 'stress' I'm in and repair that, too. Thanks for the wonderful site. It truly is a lifesaver."

[QUESTION] 06/25/2009: Dolly from Cairo, Egypt writes: "Hi, I have read all your posts and I am so grateful for this site. I need to know if its okay to have turmeric every day? or should I rest a while? I read somewhere I should give it a rest so that the body won't get accustomed to it and thus loose its effect. And I need to know if using it prevents new boils/abscesses from forming, especially that I had 3 sinus tracts that were discovered in my surgery to drain the boil I had.
I have been suffering from this since last May just out of no where!! I am so so tired and in pain, I do hope to find some help and relief.
Can someone please reply to this, I would appreciate your help so much. Thank you, Dolly"
07/20/2009: icybluedge from Columbus, Ohio replies: "Turmeric is used daily by many persons from India. If you look it up in Wikipedia you will find it is an amazing "spice". It can be used both internally and externally (for boils and skin). It is being studied now by the mainstream medical community. As Indians use it daily/frequently you should have no problems using it regularly. I use about 1200 mg per day but that is probably a little high for many. If you have any Indian physicians in Eqypt they may be able to give you some further information about this "spice". It has many benefits and is cheap (at least in the US)."
