BOIL TREATMENT WARNINGS

[WARNING!] Kelly from Cincinnati, Ohio writes: "I would like to warn everyone about treating boils. Prior to knowing about earthclinic I had a boil on my leg that grew to the size of a grapefruit (inner thigh). I'm not a doctor, this just my personal experience. I shudder when I read someone advising others to apply heat to a boil to make it come to a head. That's what I did and I almost died. boils for whatever reason one has one, are full of infection. applying heat pulls blood to the surface and increases the risk of spreading the infection already in the boil. I was treating myself, like many others w/o insurance. I did not have the knowledge about turmeric and other home remedies then. better to use the home remedies, have patience, and if it does not clear up get to a hospital. I hate being in debt, but I think I'd hate being dead over a boil worse. If you have a store near by that sells indian groceries buy turmeric in bulk--inexpensive. Then either get empty capsules from a healthfood store and make your own (empty caps also not expensive), or to get the turmeric into you, make golden milk and drink it:

1-2 tablespoons turmeric
2 cups milk (lactose intolerant- use rice milk)
1 tablespoon honey ( I prefer molasses blackstrap, full of b-vitamins and iron) to personal taste

heat milk to warm, not boil, and add turmeric and honey. when drinking stir cup before sip as turmeric settles to bottom and you want to get it all down w/ the liquid.

Turmeric is the key ingredient in mustard, wear old clothes or handle carefully it stains. c/o topical apps here at Earth Clinic. I wish I had known about this site, I might have been able to save myself from having emergency surgery and 2 months on my back in a nusing home on a wound pump (pumping out infection). I'm only 49 years old!"

[YEA] Twila from Alexandria, Virginia Usa writes: "My father had boils, i.e., cysts, appear on his arms for years. I found that Goldenseal Root is a GREAT herb with 'drawing' powers. I convinced him to try my paste, let it dry, then wash it off. Not only did the cyst go away fast, but has not returned! I have used Goldenseal Root to 'draw' infection out of cuts, sores, etc., and even cure athletes foot. You only need a small amount of the powder and a tiny amount of water. Stir into a paste quickly and spread it on the affected area. Let it dry. Rinse off. You have to be quick as it begins to work as soon as water hits it. Be careful, a tiny amount of water goes a long way! My mom had a rash on the back of her hand - all the prescription creams made it go away but as soon as she stopped using, the rash would reappear. Used the Goldenseal Root past method on the rash. It went away in 2 days and never returned."

[SIDE EFFECTS] Sarah from Los Angeles, Ca writes: "Hi, Ted- hope you get this... have been having an issue with a small boil-like thing on the back of my upper thigh. It has been there on and off before in the past- I have picked at it before, some small puss will come out and then it usually goes down again. It errupted again about a month ago- I put colliodal silver on it and it seems to be going down, but then I did about 2 weeks of heavy-metal cleanse, borax, occasional hydrogen peroxide inhalation, etc. and during that time felt like a had some kind of bug that i was chasing around my system. I had a respiratory type thing right before started cleanse, then it went into my nose for weeks- had several small pustules inside nose and both nostrils were raw and swollen... i kept draining the pustules and then applying various things: colloidal silver, neosporin, clove and basil, oregano and sea salt nasil spray, etc... but what's interesting is that when it went away in my nose the boil started to fill again. I even went to the dr. who didn't really tink the boil was anything b/c was small and no head to it ( it never really comes to a head, though i HAVE picked at it tried to squeeze it...)

Anyways- I put compress of milk of magnesia, borax, silver, and sea salt on it and covered with a band aid... about 8 hours later (last night) i got really sudden intense vertigo, nausea, followed by a bad fever. I took the sea salt cure for vertigo, along with niacinide and magnesium... and was able to sleep but have been exhasuted all day and slight fever again. Also got bitten or stung by spider or mosquito 2 days ago. am wondering if could be blood poisoning from spider or if could possibly be staph or MRSA that got into my blood? Any advice on how to treat? thanks

BTW- the sea salt in water worked AMAZING on the vertigo was only thing that gave me any relief last night,... you're brilliant thanks!"

Hil from Esco, CA writes: "I have had boils since I was 13 years of age, I am now 56 years old. I have tried everything imaginable even doctors, antibiotics of all kinds and lancing. My sister told me about this site and off I went reading. I just happen to be experiencing one of my episodes with boils. I bought the turmeric and smelled it and tasted it and no way that would go down and stay down. So I bought empty gel capsules and filled 4 to 5 of them with turmeric powder, from an Indian resturant/store. That is equivalent to 1 tsp. That did not seem to be doing much, until I read one of the newer accounts that indicated that turmeric was oil soluble. So I bought some Almond Oil and honey and tried the tea recipe, but no way I could drink so much tea. So I did a paste of 1 tsp turmeric and about 1/2 tsp almond oil. I also add a drop of honey just because I bought it. It looks like peanut butter. I make this paste and with a paring knife I stuff it into the gel capsules and drink them down with water. No taste in my mouth and it works. By the end of one day the pain of the boils was gone. I just had to write to let you all know. I will continue and see how long I can get away with not having any boils. Lord willing, it will never happen again. Thanks to all who have passed on their testimonials."

ICE CUBES

[YEA] Erin from Naperville, IL writes: "Ice cubes got rid of my boils! For three weeks, I suffered with boils around my waist. I think the waistbands of my pants actually caused them to spread. They weren't very large, but boy, were they painful! Being a veteran Earth Clinic user, I tried everything recommended ... H202, coconut oil, ACV, baking soda, hot moist heat, antibiotic ointment, turmeric and garlic. NOTHING worked. The other night, as I was going through my familiar routine of applying hot moist heat and draining them, it suddenly occurred to me taht maybe the heat was making them worse. I remembered that years ago, when I suffered with cystic acne, the only thing that would get rid of the painful bumps was in ice cube applied directly to them. Somewhere, I had read that bacteria thrives on hot moist heat and is killed by freezing cold temps and that's what made me try the ice on my cystic acne. I could often get rid of a cystic acne bump before it even became noticeable just by applying ice. So I decided to try it with the boils. I got an ice cube and held it directly to the biggest boil and then after a minute or so began rubbing the ice cube over the whole area that was infected with boils. I did this before bed and when I awoke the next morning, the smaller boils were completely gone and the bigger boils were less than half the size they had been. After I ate breakfast, I got another ice cube and applied it to the bigger boils first and then rubbed it over the whole area. By evening, the bigger boils were super tiny. I continued the ice cube treatment another day and then they were all gone. I cannot tell you how happy I was after suffering with these things for nearly three weeks and watching them grow worse and worse!"

Instead of eating just a few, I ate a large handful and noticed my symptoms the next day. I started on Turmeric, a teaspoon in a glass of water.
[YEA] Kirsten from Santa Fe, NM writes: "My family has been using the homeopathic cell salt silica to stop boils in their tracks. It is #12 of Dr. Schuessler's tissue remedies and should be available at most natural grocers which sell homeopathics. It is indicated in abcesses, boils, and any other skin conditions with thick, yellow discharges. It also helps to deacidify the body. As with any homeopathic you should increase the frequency of the dosage to about every 15 minutes in an acute situation and take it less frequently in maintenance doses. There is no way to overdose on homeopathics and taking silica should not interfere with any remedy you are currently using. Silica usually comes in lactose tablet form and about 4 tablets under the tongue or in some water is the dosage. If this remedy works for you, you can keep it going forever by following these simple steps (by the way this works for all homeopathics and Bach flower remedies). Take 4 of the lactose tablets and put them into a new glass bottle with a dropper. Add any liquor or hard alcohol to the bottle, filling it 3/4 of the way to the top. Allow the tablets to dissolve for a few minutes. Succuss the bottle 100 times, by tapping the bottle on the palm of your hand. Since homeopathics are vibrationally based you have simply transferred the vibration to the liquid. This process can be repeated again when your bottle gets low. 4 to 6 drops can be taken as a dose."

[YEA] Ellen from Pineville, Louisiana writes: "Boils/Staph" Most all of the treatments mentioned here are helpful, but the single most important thing I have found is lancing or pin pricking the boil AS SOON AS YOU NOTICE IT. Even if it doesn't appear to have any drainage in it, IT DOES. Clean the area with soap and water, let dry and quickly make about 3 quick needle pricks right on top of the thing, then take a dry washcloth and apply even pressure around the thing to get the junk out. You don't want to waste time in doing this step, because the tissue begins to swell right after the needle pricks and it will be more difficult to get it all out.

There is no good reason to wait until the boil has "come to a head". The sooner you put a stop to it the better."

[YEA] Steven from Shohola, PA writes: "Iodine Resolves Developing Boil

I have been taking 5 drops of Lugol's 2% strength solution for 3 months now. [I understand this to equal 12.5 mg of iodine whereas the 5% solution would require only 2 drops.]

About a month ago I began getting an infection in one nostril and could feel a boil developing. My nose was sensitive to the touch and I knew it was only a matter of time and it would be really bad. I waited a couple of days as it worsened. I then increased my dose of Lugol's 2% solution to 5 drops in a pint of water 6 times a day along with 500mg of vitamin C 6 times a day. After 2 days, the infection was 95& better and I dropped my dose to what I normally take. Another 2 days later I was back to normal.

[YEA] Rickey from Phoenix, Arizona USA writes: "I read that if you add the tumeric to an anti-bacterial cream and put it on the boil, it will go away. I could not find the cream for the life of me 5 days ago and had 2 boils - one very close to my va-jay-jay and the other on the upper thigh in the same area. i could not walk at all and no pain meds helped.

i mixed up some hydrocortisone 1% that i had handy and tumeric in a little contact lens cap (the case was old) and made sure the mixture was gooey and pliable. i then applied the mixture directly on the boils and taped a gauze on top of both areas.

when i woke up the next morning, my thigh boil burst and overflowed (i did not notice while sleep) and my va-jay-jay boils went down significantly.

after that night they did not hurt. after two days, there were no remnants of any boils.

one piece of advice: USE OLD SHEETS OR VERY DARK SHEET TO SLEEP WITH THIS ON! i used cheap black satin sheets i bought from a store that sells brand names for less ;) otherwise, your reguler sheets will be lots of yellow tumeric patches (i know from experiance)."

[YEA] cynthia from fayetteville, AR writes: "I was just browsing through this site, I spend a lot of time doing that, and read the remedy posted about boils. As a child I frequently had boils. While at a family gathering an uncle took me into the kitchen to "fix me up" with a home remedy. He got a raw potato and a potato scraper. (as if to make hashbrowns) He then washed and scraped the entire potato into a clean, sterile bandage and taped it to my arm. I wore it all that day and through the night. Bt the next morning the boil had come to a head, and my mother drained and cleaned it. I had been plagued with boils many times prior to that and they were always painful and lasted several days before coming to a head. This one was over quickly and what a blessing! After that we used a raw potato any time one came up. I no longer have this problem. I seem to have grown out of it. I have given this remedy to friends and family members since then and it has been a success with them also. Hope it helps!"

Then take a very warm shower. I guess the action of the warmth from the sun and the added warmth from the water will soften the skin to the extent that the boil will easily burst. The Vit D may also have something to do with it cuz you don't get the same effect from just a heating pad so go out and enjoy the sun for a spell then shower!
[YEA] Lon from Stanhope, NJ writes: "Boils, possibly MRSA, and tumeric:

My son was hospitalized for serious, rapidly spreading cellulitis, which started with a boil. He responded well enough to antibiotics to come home, but although the culture indicated the boil was not MRSA, the boils did not respond to the various antibiotics the Drd tried. He developed multiple boils on and around his privates which wouldn't go away. By the way he's been hospitalized, had many surgeries and on intravenous and antibiotics many times for a digestive disease he was born with. The celulitis came back three times, while following the infectuous disease Dr's advice to control it, which was exhausting, frustrating for both of us and ineffective. Of course the Drs think you're not following their directions if their strategy doesn't work. Then I found this site! I gave my son one turmeric capsule three times daily for three days. A nutritionist suggested I watch the acid alkaline balance of his diet. Topically I applied black salve to any full blown boils. If I noticed any small emerging boils which have not yet formed pus at the tip, I apply straight tea tree oil to the tip only, being careful not to get it on the surrounding skin. I discovered the effectiveness of these particular topicals by observation after using so many topical remedies. The advantage of the black salve is that it stays on without a dressing. I couldn't use bandages/poultices because of the location of his boils. Nothing has worked like the turmeric, supported by the topical application of black salve and tea tree oil for healing the boils, as well as watching the diet. He now takes one turmeric a day for prevention. The origin i think is candida, but we're working on that.

My son has Down Syndrome, Hirschsprung's disease (never could spell it.), and an ileostomy, so you can imagine the difficulties with nutrition. It was an ordeal I thought would never end. I worried constantly that the celulitis would return. It's been almost a year without boils or cellulitis. Thank you for this site! If it wasn't for this site we probably would have continued with the endless cycle of antibiotics and hospitalization.

when i NEEEEDED IT GONE like TOMORROW FOR SURE as a self conscious teenager.... i went to my dermatologist and got it injected with cortizone ...have repeated that more than 30 times over the years also through a general practicioner as well. If you call and say you have a boil needs cortizone injection so it wont scar they will squeeeeze you in asap. The moment you get the injection you can feel it start to go away, the next day its TOTALLY GONE.

course now i would try the turmeric etc if i could wait a couple days to get rid of it the healthy way ;)

also, i have used table salt on staph, im allergic to bactroban, and im prone to staph even if i think im very hygenic in giving myself a facial, occasionally i notice the next day every place that i removed a blackhead or anything is swollen from staph... salty paste kills germs period they cant live in it. i will get some sea salt to see if its better but table salt is wonderful for infections.

Seabuckthorn helps with acne boils rosesea and other skin conditions.

vitamin e oil on open weeping sores will seal them and heal them quickly."

[YEA] Linda from Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA writes: "I started getting boils repeatedly in the last couple of years on different parts of my body, but I stopped the cycle successfully through natural remedies. If I ever get another one, I'll definitely try the Turmeric, but for now, I wanted to share what worked for me.

I always try to find the cause of my health problems so that I can cure it permanently versus just treating the symptoms, and this method has always worked great for me. I noticed my boils started after I had been taking a high potency multi-vitamin for awhile, and after that, whenever I ate chocolate and peanuts. I also believe I might have gotten some type of fungal infection in my blood that was causing them. For immediate relief of pain and inflammation, I used ice packs (hot water made mine worse). To kill the infection on the surface, I put a few drops of Tea Tree Oil (natural anti-bacterial) on a cotton ball pre-moistened with hydrogen peroxide and applied it several times throughout the day (sometimes this alone cured them). If I ever got a boil on an area of skin that was touching another area of skin, I would make sure to apply the Tea Tree oil on all skin that was touching the boil. For a stubborn boil I had on my abdomen once, I mixed a very small amount of Goldenseal powder (natural anti-bacterial) with a teaspoon of Castor Oil, put them on a gauze pad over the boil, secured it with Bandaids and then covered it gently with a heating pad for about 20 minutes 3 times a day. Both of these natural ingredients are drawing agents, and they worked wonders to start pulling the infection right out of the skin within hours. By the next day, the infection was completely out and the boil was gone. Once the wound closed a little, I applied Aloe Vera gel to it regularly to prevent any scarring.

To stop the cycle of recurring boils, I did two things: I learned that a boil happens when the body has a toxin that it cannot get out fast enough through the normal channels. Since I generally eat a healthy, whole foods diet, I figured the only other thing it could be was my multi-vitamin supplement, so I stopped taking it. Soon after that, the number and severity of my boils went way down. To finish off any other toxins, I decided to try a medicinal herb that is very effective at killing bacteria, fungus and viruses: Pau d'Arco. I drank 1 cup of Pau d'Arco tea daily for 2 months, and I've not had another boil since, even after eating too much chocolate and nuts during the holidays. These safe, natural methods were extremely effective for me, and I love the idea that they also taught me how to prevent any future recurrances."

[YEA] Tony from Duncan, OK writes: "VICK'S VAPOR RUB cured my MRSA
by Tony Walker

July- Duncan, OK. - I got chigger bites that got infected on the lower front of my leg.

Aug.- The infection spread showing up in new spots on the front of my lower leg. The new spots looked like oversized Zits with a white puss head 1/8 and a hardness under it of %uFFFD across.

Sept.- The spots on the front of my leg cleared up as new spots showed up on the back of my lower leg.
Mid Sept. - I went to clinic and the doctor gave me a ten-day supply of Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim. ($100) The sores cleared up and no new sores appeared until--

Nov.10th Duncan, OK. New sores with a different appearance appear on back of lower leg. These sores start as little red bumps and become red and scabby with a clear discharge.

Nov.28th 2007- These new sores have moved to the front of my lower leg and the old Zit type sores have reappeared

I returned to the clinic and the doctor re prescribed The same prescription ($140) but this time it had no effect. I have tried a number of things to dry out the sores to no avail they only got worse. Then I tried rubbing Vix vapor rub on the sores and saw improvement overnight.
I rubbed Vix? vapor rub on it twice a day morning and night. Then I draped a piece of sheet around it which I pinned to my shorts and tucked into my sock to keep the Vix off other stuff. The sores cleared up and were gone in about a week or so.

Dec.8 2008 about every 3 to 4 months a rash starts to reappeared and I just applied a little more vapor rub on it and it goes away again. This vapor rub need not be of the "Vix" name brand Walmart --equate-- works just as good.
