Stephanie from Burnaby, B.c., Canada writes: "Hi Thanks for this wonderful web site, I am your devote reader and supporter of most of your remedy. My father-in-law recently just have a big operation of removing the stomach and part of the esophgeals due to the cancer situation and also the lymph grand around his chest. He now depend on his duodenal and intestine to obsorb nutrients. He used to have a history of high blood pressure and slightly high blood suger level. His blood pressure has been really high (200/115)for the last few weeks and the doctor found him has edema too (swelling) Do you think I should let him try apple cider vinegar? and will that cause problem to his intestines because he has no stomach to neutralize the acid.

If I cannot add baking soda to the apple cider vinegar because of the sodium, do you think I can add other thing like magnesium and still can lower his BP? Thanks for the opportunity to post here. Hope that you can help him. He is 82 years now and its sad to see him suffer like this.

Thanks
Stephanie

[YEA] Samuel from Short Hills, N.J. writes: "For high blood pressure use olive leaf extract or powder. Please be careful if using medication or allergic. It might lower it too much. Try a little at a time, and see the effects. Use powder in tea. It's somewhat bitter. Add a little honey to sweeten taste.Mix with cayenne pepper extract if desired.. Start with smaller amounts.Very sharp taste.S tart with one or 2 drops to begin with. Check blood pressue about half an hour later to see results. Use common sense and use with caution. You might be pleasantly surprised."

[NAY] Tony from Monroe, Nj writes: "I read everyone's feedback on how ACV lowered their blood pressure and was so impressed I went out and bought 2 bottles. Took 2 tsp 3 times a day for 3 weeks and it did absolutely nothing to lower my blood pressure. My pressure is still approximately 150/95. I am so disappointed. I truely thought after reading everyone's comments that I finally found a natural remedy that would work. I would love to hear from others that also experinced the same as me and if there are any other natural remedies. Was it perhaps something I did wrong? Should I have given ACV more time to work?"

I read your site because I didnt want to be put on medication. I wanted to try an alternative route to lower my blood pressure. I tried apple cider vinegar (regular type from grocery) and no change. I purchased a natural acv with the mother and my blood pressure was lower within days of using this. I drink 2tsp in a glass of water about 3x per day. It has also curbed my appetite for sweets and other junk foods. I have lost about 20 pounds in less than 3 months doing this. I have told everyone about the apple cider vinegar and encourage you to try it if you have high blood pressure. It tastes bad the first time or two but after you get used to the taste i actually like it."

Osiris from Beverly Hills, Ca writes: "I was diagnosed a few days ago with High Blood Pressure. Last year I was in a terrible accident with a bus, whoich left me with a few multiple anxiety disorders. Since I was 19, I have practiced Yoga and vegetarianism, I am 57 years of age presently. I tried the blood pressure mediceine once and felt like I was going to die. After speaking with a few friends including a 33, 52 and 43 year old, whom each had been diagnosed with high blood pressure, hypertension, etc. they suggested I not take the medicine. I not only planned to not take it, I told the doctor that if anyone was to prescribe anything for me, it would have to be me. I have beefed up my Yoga routine, I have no weight issues, or had a background, other than before I became a vegetarian, I beleive that I can get my bp down. I had ACV in my cabinet, and wanted to remind myself of what a marvelous home remedy it is. I would love to report, my findings in a week. Presently my bp is 180/100. I am learning to relax in an unrelaxed society."

I was taking it at different times throughout the day with a cuff a friend loaned me. I'm really glad I found this site as I was able to pass a physical I had to take in order to renew my license.
John from Trang, Thailand writes: "Hypertension, [calcium ions]

There's a lot of disinformation on the web and what follows may have some.

Calcium Ions go into a muscle when we want to do something and exit the muscle when it's relaxed, and so it is with the soft muscle surrounding the heart arteries, the soft muscle surrounding the bronchiole. Calcium entering the ears vestibular is a cause of vertigo and I believe calcium entering the eye is a cause of cataracts.

Wanting to pick up a glass, a message from the brain sends calcium ions into the muscle. Would it be the same with muscles surrounding heart arteries? If it is as simple as 'wanting' as it is with picking up a glass, why is it not as simple with heart arteries? Why not send the message -just once- for the heart arterial muscles to relax now? Messages should be that simple. Treating high blood pressure with addictive medication is only treating the symptoms.

The disease - if it is a disease - comes from the brain. How to treat this?

I am not overweight and eat a vegetarian diet. My doctor immediately wanted me to start me taking BP medication, which I refused to do. I found this site and started on the ___ACV; 2 tbs in water 3x day. By the next day my bp was 120/80. I went back for a follow up visit to my doctor a few months later and my BP was still 120/80. When I told the doctor why it was normal, she totally dismissed the idea, and said it "must have been some diet change", which it wasn't. I don't really care what she or the medical establishment think, I know it works. I now only take 2 tbs in water once a day and been able to maintain a normal BP.
[NAY] Ron from Roland, Oklahoma writes: "Greetings:

I am rather perplexed by the use of ACV. I have been taking an ounce a day for three years now. I've read where it has helped many people with regulating their blood pressure. I have been using the "most popular brand" of ACV which I purchase at a local health food store. To my dismay, my blood pressure runs around 150/100.

I am 6'2", 270 pounds, mostly muscular in build, don't drink alcohol, don't smoke, eat normal 2000 calorie/day diet, work in a relatively stree free environment, no kids, great marriage, take a variety of vitamins/minerals such as: Vitamins A,C,B-complex, Hawthorne, garlic, cayenne pepper, cinammon and a multiple vitamin for the trace elements. I also take a prescription medication for my BP. Yet, my blood pressure still runs high.

If you would be courteous enough to email me a respone and give me your opinion as to what I may be doing wrong to control my blood pressure, I would truly appreciate it!

Thanks!

12/09/2008: Hans from Delft, Zuid Holland / The Netherlands writes: "Hi Ted, Thanks for all your alkalizing advice. I have been using the lemon + baking soda formula for over 6 months now. I have a lot of energy. My skin looks great. The pH of my urine is 7,5 or higher consistantly. I take one lemon plus about 1 teaspoon of baking soda. I add one liter of water. this is what i do twice a day. Now here comes my question. Some people noticed my change in energy and also the way i look. They started doing the same, but they experience a rise in bloodpressure. My own bloodpressure doesn't rise above 125 / 83 even when i add extra baking soda. Could you explain why my bloodpressure stays the same while my friend's bloodpressure rises? Several others didn't report anything but positive from this remedy. My aunt and brothers told me their Acid reflux was gone in a few days. They also experience significant weight loss. Thanks alot!

Best regards,
Hans"

High blood pressure is often caused by chronic dehydration. The body needs a certain amount of sodium, but the body also needs to be constantly flushed by drinking enough water, which will help flush excess sodium from the system. When you feel thirst, you are already very dehydrated as this is one of the last symptoms of dehydration to manifest.

As a rule of thumb, take your body weight in pounds and divide by 2. This simple calculation gives you the number of ounces of water your body needs daily. Coffee, tea, juice, and colas don't count. Divide by 8 and this will tell you how many glasses of water you need each day.

Drinking this amount of water daily will naturally bring your blood pressure in line. A good friend of mine was able to discontinue his high blood pressure medication within 2 months of beginning this practice.

Keep in mind that strenuous physical activity and living in dry climates may increase your water requirements.

[YEA] Philip from Dearing, GA writes: "This is a must for those with HBP issues. I believe HBP to be directly related to the type of sodium in our food or artial plaque build up. In my case, and yes I had test run by a medical facility and everything was in good shape, my blood pressure always seemed to be borderline at around 130 over 90 and sometimes depending on what I ate or drank would go up to 140 over 95. So I believe my HBP to be related to the type of sodium in our foods.

I have expermented with this and can make my blood pressure increase and decrease with what I eat in my diet. My BP came down in one week to 118 over 76. I was truly amazed. Well after losing motivation I soon slipped off the diet and my BP slowly crept back up. After starting the diet once again, my BP was down.

I will give you the basic diet I used (There is a book on this, but I know Earth Clinic does not want titles or products) So you will need: A blender; Whey powder; Sea salt (All natural/unbleached); Ground Flax seed; Ice; Fresh or frozen fruits and veggies; Raw almonds and other nuts; Beans; Dairy of any kind, must be fat free or 1%; Unsweetened, unfavored instant oatmeal; Eggs; Lean meats; Peanut butter (again all natural); Olive Oil;100% Whole Grain cereals and bread; Berries (Fresh or Frozen); and Low fat yogurt.

So the goal is BP reduction, but you will lose weight with this also. You will be eating every 2 to 3 hours 6 times a day. Serving sizes should be no more than the palm of your hand and you basically combine the foods such as,1 ounce of almonds with 1 ounce of raisins as a snack or an apple and a cheese stick. For supper, a serving of Tuna, Spinach, Peas, and a glass of fat free milk. For desert, a few pieces of dark chocolate. I hope you get the idea.

The very best part is the smoothies though because you can actually drink 6 of them a day instead of meals and snacks. Take a blender, add 1 cup of crushed ice or 3 or 4 ice cubes, 1 cup of Fat free milk, 2 Tablespoons of low fat vannila yogurt, 2 Teaspoons of Whey powder. These are your basic ingredients and will be in every smoothie you consume. Now you add fresh or frozen fruit of any kind (about a cup) and 2 Teaspoons of peanut butter OR 1 pack of cooked instant oatmeal and blend (this usally makes two servings). A serving will be 12 to 16 ounces and can be drank up to 6 times a day spaced apart at every 2 to 3 hours.

A few teaspoons of flax seed spread over salads or added to smoothies is a good addition. Just remember to try to cook from Raw and add sea salt for flavor.

You can do smoothies all day or you can combine the other foods as snacks and meals. I really do wish I could name the book (Diet). Snacks can be a cup of low fat yogurt and a boiled egg or an egg sandwich on 100% Whole grain bread. I really hope this will help. Incorporating bananas and asparagus as part of this diet will help keep the kidneys flushed from sodium. If sodium is the cause of your HBP, this should be a cure."

[YEA] Noels from Wolverhampton, UK writes: "I do hope this isn't the second post by me today. Just as I was sending the first my email crashed. Anyway I'm 74 and 10yrs ago had high BP 180/120. My Doc put me on Antenolol 50mg/day which brought it down to round about 145/90. In the last 2 months I have been taking ACV maintenance dose 3xday and my BP has come down 120/89, 115/80 and yesterday 112/60 great???

Question do I still keep taking ACV, Will my BP stabilise or should I stop before it gets dangerously low?

Since taking ACV I have felt like a new person very lively and active. I also lost 4Lbs in weight and some of my hearing has returned. I wear 2 hearing aids. Any helpful comments very welcome

Regards

[YEA] Maria from San Francisco, CA writes: "i was wondering about the virgin coconut oil...it was mentioned that it is not recommended for people with high blood pressure, and i was wondering if that applies to the oil applied externally as well as internally? (as in the rubbing of the feet and calves before bed)... because i do not have high blood pressure but my boyfriend does, or used to at least...we have had some success with cayenne pepper (1 tblspn twice a day)...btw he is less prone to lose his temper because i think your temperament and patience is affected by the blood pressure (and vice versa)... so my other question is if you know that your blood pressure is now lowered from taking the cayenne (its been about a month now), must one continue taking it indefinitely? also we have been making kombucha at home and we notice less desire for caffine and more energy, better skin...

we would recommend using silver needle white tea, as the taste is great combined with the kombucha, champagne-like, and it has the more anti-oxidants than black or green tea. thanks, Maria
