[YEA]  05/16/2006: Edmund from Baltimore, MD writes: "My last physical was in March, my blood pressure was 139/90. After finding this website. I thought I would give ACV a try. I stopped taking my HBP meds about a month and a half ago and have strictly been on ACV and garlic. I take 2tbls of ACV with a little spring water and I take 2 caps of garlic, which I buy loose and cap myself. I went to the nurse's office this morning and had my blood pressure checked it was 124/77. I was amazed to say the least. I try to watch what I eat, but I know It was the ACV and garlic because I had already modified my eating habits when my blood pressure was higher. I send this website to everyone I can think of. I have been preaching the wonders of ACV!!!"

[YEA]  02/01/2006: Donna from Lancaster SC writes: "I came across this site looking for natural results in lowering my husband's blood pressure which was 166 over 90 and had 1/3 of his lung removed due to finding lung cancer in stage 1 after we had a vehicle accident. Since we both are American Indians, I wanted something natural so I got it and tried it on him, myself and our 24 year old daughter who has asthma. We started this past Sunday and the next day I didn't feel bloated like usual so I told all at work and they just looked at me so I printed this out. Tuesday morning I had energy like never before so with the paper and they saw me and read this site they all went to get the ACV and about 20 customers were going. My husband's blood pressure is as of 1/31/06 150 over 80 and he claims that he feels like "jumping rope" so with fresh vege and lean meats and very low sodium in his diet with this is working and since Sunday i have lost 5 lbs and my hair is no longer falling out (waist length). It's so nice to comb my long hair and it isn't falling out anymore or see my hair on everything.Thank you all so much. Donna -- Geyatahi Cherokee Indian NC"

[YEA]  11/23/2005: Carlene from South Africa writes: "I have tried adding 1 tablespoon chased with water in the morning after breakfast and again in evening after meal to test if any difference in my high blood pressure. In less than one week, I noticed I was very dizzy and feeling rather weak. I took my blood pressure and it was 102/66... VERY LOW after years of 130s/90's WITH medication daily. I have stopped taking my blood pressure medication and checking my pressure 3 times daily to find it's consistently now 120's/70's. I am completely amazed. I'd been taking supplements (fish oil, garlic, E, flax) along with my medication for a long time and have kept that up. The only thing I can attribute this major change is the addition of apple cider vinegar!"

An older gentleman (70ish) that lives in my town told his secret (when asked) to looking great after looking not so great a few months earlier. This was what he had been doing for himself. He was on bp & cholesterol meds that were draining the life out of him. So he went the other route and looks great & more importantly feels. great. So I'm following his advice and also i'm 1 week smoke free."

02/23/2010: Karen from Deland, Fl writes: "Hello - I have a question for Ted. I have been taking ACV with baking soda daily. Is daily baking soda added to apple cider vinegar w/mother the correct remedy for high blood pressure or should I drink the ACV in water without the baking soda? I've been reading about sodium in baking soda so I'm unclear as to the amount. I have been adding 1/4 teaspoon to an 8 oz glass of water with 2 tablespoons ACV. (I also brush my teeth with baking soda). Thank you."

[YEA]  05/30/2009: John from Trang, Thailand writes: "Hello EC,

Hypertension: John. [cattlab2000@yahoo.com]

Some points never addressed by doctors or pharmaceutical companies, for obvious reasons.

1.When taking BP measure, how much 'mmhg' to deduct for doctors 'white coat syndrome'?
2. How much to deduct, for the smaller stress of taking your own BP measure?
3. How much to deduct for circadian highs at - 6 a.m., 1200, 1700 p.m.?
4. How much to add due to side effects of drugs, such as, nervousness, fear, worry, anxiousness & stress?
5. How much to add for being 76 y.o. but deduct for being 52 kilos & exercise?

All doctors don't take any of this into account. It makes the difference between a good day or a stressful day.

My BP began with 2 vertigo experiences, a month apart. The second one, I went to a doctor, who frightened me with talk of strokes & heart attacks & sold me lots of drugs. From then on I was taking drugs for the last 4 years with all the side affects, plus 'inactive ingredients', which cause rebound, dependency, which is medi-speak for addiction. BP at the beginning was 160/99. Drugs got it down, around 140/80, but with odd peaks of 160/85. This last year they average around 135/83. No big deal but I continued to work on it with ECs help & recently touched 113/65. This with 10mg. a.m. Nifelat-R, a slow release Nifedipine & nothing at night. Side effects are, tremors, worry, anxiousness, stress which you have already guessed, pushes up the BP a little & you should have guessed also that 'side effects' are not - but are intentional. Paranoia? Think what you will.

My BP lows are due to one tablespoon [15mm] of Apple Cider Vinegar plus same water, plus teaspoon honey, plus 1/8 tsp. bi-carb soda [Pong Foo] 3 times a day. I like the way it froths & bubbles before I drink it. Tastes good too. Yum!

Earth Clinic, is so damn good if it was a woman, I'd marry her. John"

06/26/2009: Randy from Springfield, IL replies: "As an RN, I can't see how mixing baking soda and vinegar can be helpful. The "fizzing" mentioned is a result of the bicarbonate (baking soda) neutralizing the acetic acid in the vinegar. An acid (vinegar) plus a base (baking soda) result in a chemical reaction that results in a neutralization of both. If you're using this combination, then there is not enough of one to completely neutralize the other. A tablespoon of vinegar with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda would result in neturalizing the baking soda but not all of the acid.

If you're using this combination and your BP is lower, look elsewhere for the reason. These two ingredients shouldn't be mixed together."

07/13/2009: John from Trang, Thailand replies: "HYPERTENSION:

Acceptable Range. What is it? Mine goes from 117/65 to 144/82

We can't take what the doctor says as too high or too low. The only range you see quoted, heads up, into the danger zone. It implies pressure can only go one way. Not true. Our system is not on idle all the time. We are working, worrying and relaxing, all of these, all the time. My heart and the whole system adjusts to the varying loads.

My lows happen 20 minutes after exercise, ACV, breakfast, flaxseed, magnesium, potassium, fish oil, and sitting and reading. The highs are usually after I get home from driving around, or are a bit angry. For example, I've just begun swimming again after decades of not doing it. After the first time I drove home during lots of after school traffic, waited 5 minutes and BP was 146/93. Sat and waited another 10 minutes and BP was 130/80.

A range doesn't only go up, it also goes down.
What are the dangers [?] if any of too low? What's too low? All I know is, a bit dizzy.

Doctors tell us, 95% of high BP is "essential', which only means they don't know what the cause is. Breathing, eating, sleeping are essential not high BP. The medical jargon is designed to scare us into buying more drugs that cause "rebound' [addiction]

Is there any time when high BP is necessary? When running 300 metres for example, or being attacked, should my pressure be sitting nicely at 120/70, regardless of what I do?

How about an activity related bar graph [not age related] plus a poison related graph directed at those with a reasonable diet. Bars would be green, orange, red with the double numbers underneath. A double bar for the double number.

If you have information on an acceptable range please tell EC or cattlab2010@gmail.com John."

07/13/2009: John from Trang, Thailand replies: "Two months and laughing.

Think of all the precious things I had to give up, for normal BP. Buying drugs every month at the hospital. Waiting 3 hours to see the doctor. Waiting another hour to pay for and receive the drugs. Think I'll miss the following?

Amlodipine: oedema (feet and ankles, headache, palpitations, dizziness, tremor, nausea, muscle-, stomach- or, dyspepsia; blood disorders, breasts in men (gynecomastia), impotence, tachycardia , hyperglycemia, insomnia, erratic behavior, hepatitis, jaundice - in 1 in 10,000, depression,

Verapamil: Oedema Ankle, Headache, constipation

Nifedipine: oedema, headache, palpitation, peripheral oedema, vasodilation, nausea, dizziness, abdominal pain, chest pain, malaise, pain, angina pectoris, postural hypotension, syncope, tachycardia, constipation, diarrhoea, dry mouth, dyspepsia, vomiting, arthralgia [jointpain], myalgia [muscle pain],Insomnia, nervousness, paraesthesia, somnolence,[sleepy] tremour, vertigo, dyspnoea [hard to breathe], pruritus, rash, skin disorder, sweating, nocturia, [piss night lots] polyuria [kidney], abdomen enlargement, allergic reaction, photosensitivity reaction, hypotension, flatulence, gastrointestinal disorder, GGTP increased, purpura skin bruising, hypesthesia, urticaria, abnormal vision, ambyopia, urinary frequency increased, gum hyperplasia, agranulocytosis, gynaecomastia, erythromelalgia, exfoliative dermatitis anaphylactic reaction, hypovolaemia a distinct fall in blood pressure can occur as a result of vasodilation.

I won't go on with the others that I tried but Nifedipine-R was the least worst of them. Remember the doctors advertising from about 5000 years ago? "First do no harm" You see anything harmless about the above?

Of course I have also iven up all starch including rice and that means cakes biscuits too. And milk, butter, eggs, sugar, and all meat containing di-ethel stilbestrol, antibiotics, Ventolin [it's given to pigs to make the meat look redder] Coffee, coke, pepsi, fanta. Yup! You've guessed it. Vegys and fruit and about 30 grams of a very small sea fish. I figure my brain is stuffed already so what the hell harm can a little more mercury do?"

03/14/2009: Yaa from Manassas, Virginia writes: "Well after reading your comments I decided to try this. I visited the doctor about a week ago and was surprised that my reading was 167/80. I was floored. I know that I need to exercise, but I don't use heavy sodium. I am 47 (birthday tomorrow) and I would like to see 48. I went to the GNC and got the ACV with Mother and made the drink with 2tlbs of cider, 1/4 tsp of baking soda and 8 oz of water. Did not taste that bad. I did take my pressure prior to drinking it was 127/79. I think the spike previously was I took Sudafed for a headache. But still high. I will be tracking the results for the next two weeks and see what happens. Also I have made myself a promise to start some kind of exercise program. Wish me luck. Thanks for the site."

[YEA]  10/21/2008: Albert from Ottawa, Ontario writes: "After reading so many positive comments I decided to give it a try. I am a slim and healthy engineer who started taking Prozac for anxiety a few months ago. My blood pressure went up from normal levels to about 138-145/87-95. Given that I am 48 years old my doctor told me that it may also be related to my age and that perhaps I may need to go into medication for it. I started searching and found this website and the comments on ACV. I thought that I had nothing to lose by trying it. I even like vinegar with olive oil in my salads. Given the various options for taking the ACV I opted for one that seemed more sensible for me. Half a glass of water with two tbs of ACV and 1/4 tbs of baking soda. I am taking this three times a day. Early in the morning before breakfast about 1 hour after lunch and 1 hour after dinner. I reasoned that perhaps on an empty or semi-empty stomach would be better. Some people may not like the taste but I am used to it and don't mind it at all. Let me tell you that the results in 10 days of doing this have been very impressive. I have been taking my pressure some times twice a day. My blood pressure started coming down. I have had only one spike one day around the 4th day. I have been 120-125/70-75 in the last five days. So, what can I tell you? Try it out, you may be happily surprised by the results."

My blood pressure on tuesday was 149/94. I read on here about the ACV and baking soda. I put two tablespoons acv with with a 1/4 tablespoon baking soda in a full glass of water. About three hours later I took my blood pressure; it was 124/79. Wow, and I feel so much better too!

I had to force myself to drink it, but it was definently worth it."

[YEA]  10/06/2007: Alice from Lincoln, CA writes: "I was feeling very bad in many different ways (mostly from anemia) when I found your site. The most pressing problem I was having was high blood pressure and water retention that had come on quite suddenly and was making me feel like I might explode. The DR gave me meds, of course, they really weren't working (avg BP 160/95 with meds)and I thought I should try other methods rather than have him raise the dosage, and besides, why was I suddenly having this problem?

I had tried ACV along with my mother many years ago when I was a teenager to help with winter athritis and sore throats, but I had forgotten about it. So after reading about it on your site, I immediately started by having 2tbls ACV 1/4tsp baking soda and a little agave nectar for sweetner in a mug of hot water. Within a couple hours of my first mug I was up and about feeling better. My grown son could not believe the transformation. He happened to come by for a visit right when I was drinking that first dose and I changed right before our eyes. I'm so glad he was here to see it so I know I'm not imagining things. I continued using it at least twice a day. The first night I felt so good in my skin, it was wonderful. It took several weeks to get off the BP meds, I had only been on them several weeks before starting ACV so I think I had not become dependent on them. Other people should be very careful about changing their BP meds, DR should monitor this. The water retention problem got better and better each day and finally disappeared after a couple weeks. Last BP check at DRs was 135/85, not bad.

Amazingly, and without me expecting it, my hot flashes that had appeared with a vengence at the same time as the high BP, completely disappeared at that first mugful. It took me a couple days to realize it, but I have not had one since, not ONE hot flash since, and they were rolling in just about one an hour, and believe me they were very thoroughly HOT.

I very patiently waited before writing in to you, and it is over 5 months later now, and I have my mug once a day or more, even while staying away from home (I have been sad to leave organic ACV behind in hotel rooms because I don't know of a good way to travel with it by air). I believe my digestion is better and elimination more regular though I would not have said before that I was particularly troubled in that area. It helps my overall sense of well-being. I can certainly tell if I haven't had some for a day-- I just feel off without it.

I have to add, though, sometimes my ACV doesn't sound good, it kind of hits my stomach funny, gives me a hollow feeling, and sometimes I feel like it heats me up, not quite a hot flash, but not desirable for someone who's had too many hot flashes. I don't know what this aversion is all about, but I manage to make myself have some, even if just a more diluted version of it and in cooler water. I am always glad that I did. After reading more, I think I will try the baking soda in water alone, or the lemon juice with baking soda in water next time the ACV just doesn't sound good.

Thank you so much for this site. I am determined to continue trying things until I feel like I remember I once felt--really well and useful."

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, DIETARY CHANGES

1 YEA

01/20/2010: Florzzy from Singapore, Western Region, Singapore writes: "Hi, I am 47 from Singapore. Last night before I go to bed, I took 2 teaspoonful of Manuka Honey dilute it in a cup of plain water, add 2 teaspoon ( some dripped into the cup so it was slightly more than 2 tsp) of Apple Cider Vinegar and drank it.

I have an Omron wrist BP reader, my BP was 137/96 (average of 2 readings) this (Wed) morning.

Before this, on Monday night my BP was 162/106 (average of 2 readings). On Tuesday morning, I took my BP again and my BP was 155/107 after a night's rest.

I told myself I don't want to end up an invalid. So, the next day (Tuesday morning) I stopped drinking coffee and stopped eating my favorite softboiled eggs and kaya toast. Instead, I drank orange juice, Bread Margarine and 1 small banana. Then later I realized that Margarine is a Hydrogenerated Fat, which is bad for the body. So, I decided to throw away the small tub of margarine I just bought.

For lunch (Tuesday afternoon) I ate 1 China fuji apple, 1 small banana, 5 inches plain french baguette and a cup of warm milo. One hour after my lunch I checked my BP. It was 154/104.

For dinner @5.30pm (Tuesday evening) I ate at a Japanese restaurant - salmon sashimi, grilled saba fish, eel, 2 pcs fried sushi lobster salad toppings, 1 tempura shrimp and vegetables, chawmushi or Japanese egg custard and some rice (left 3 quarter of the bowl of rice behind). I drank green tea and decided not to drink their miso soup because of the salt content in it. Well it looks as if I ate alot, but in fact,it was just a variety of small pieces of each item because it was a Bento spread.

Had Supper at 8.30pm - slice fish soup (my purpose was to eat the fishmeat) and 1 China fuji apple.

I took my BP at 10pm it was 144/94. Then I drank the honey apple cider vingear and went to bed at 12.30am.

My BP this morning at 9am was 137/96.

Before I found this Earth Clinic website yesterday (Tuesday afternoon)I was determined to watch what I eat to bring my BP to normal. After reading the information on apple cider vinegar I went out to buy the Honey and Apple Cider Vinegar after dinner last evening.

I am waiting to see, if I can bring down my BP to healthy level with a healthy diet drinking the Honey and apple cider vinegar.

I only started the above on Tuesday and that was my day 1."

I am a 40 year old female and after a dnc surgery procedure my bp had escalated and now i am anemic. I have fought and warded off the advice of my docs to take the pills for a year but since have been suffering from bad headaches, and anemia. Therefore, i had to give in and started taking my meds as of jan 1,09. My bp has since increased rather than decrease. Recently on a dr's visit my pressure went up to 180/110. My doc then recommended that i double up on my dose from 5mg to 10mg. I am so happy i stumbled onto the suggestions on this site and tonight i started my first dose of 3tblspoon acv and 2tblsp of molasses. Will keep you posted on my progress. If this works, why haven't the doctors made reference to it? I have lost all beliefs in doctors. Thanks for allowing me to share, will check in next week Tuesday with updates.btw, my bp pressure tonight was 147/98
alena"

[YEA]  01/28/2009: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Alena, a simple D&C should not have caused bleeding to the point of anemia, and if you were anemic before surgery, it should have been corrected before doing it. Did the doctor mention any complications during the D&C? You might want to ask for a copy of the surgical report, to see if you can learn why you are anemic."

But sit a lot in front of the PC etc. Eat mostly Chinese or Fusion food 1m89 tall 92KG and here I am stuck with "HIGH BLOOD Pressure" dizziness very tired mornings. Need Melantonin to fall a sleep, otherwise can stay awake till wee hours. Can't give any personal feed back yet. Will start ACV now. But my grandfather in Austria used to drink one liter of natural Apple juice every day, for every second month (not the clear one). It looked like frosted in the glass bottle. He bought it from what they call in German the "Reform Haus" sort of Health shop 30 years ago. to keep his high blood pressure under control. Maybe someone has tried this I guess that is why the ACV is good for us also."

1 YEA

[YEA]  01/24/2010: Galrion from Los Angeles, Ca Usa writes: "I have had hypertension for some time, and for 4 years I was on multiple medications. I recently weaned off all medicines and now I am using natural methods to reduce my blood pressure.

ACV had zero effect on my blood pressure, but quite by accident I found that baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) has a dramatic effect. I tried Xylitol, and it gave me such severe heartburn that I took baking soda to remedy it. I now add a pinch of soda to each glass of water, to my coffee grounds, etc. and I don't sense any taste of it. Anybody with a blood pressure monitor can test this. Test BP, take a glass of water with 1/8 or 1/4 tsp. baking soda, test BP again after 30 minutes. It will cost you about $1 per year to control BP this way, and most people already have the soda in the house.

The need for bicarbonate indicates that kidneys need to be detoxified... if you want to be less dependent on remedies."
