Fig Leaf Tea

[YEA] 04/18/2012: Carolyn from Tulsa, Ok: "Fig leaf tea normalizes blood sugar level, lowers high blood pressure and keeps the arteries clean.
Two teaspoons of dried fig leaves in one cup of boiling water (steeped for 20 minutes) and drank each morning will normalize the blood sugar in a matter of days.
Dried fig leaves are not easy to find in the US, but Lloyd Kretizer at www.landofenfigment.com sells them for $5 a (quart) bag which will last about two months of drinking a cup of tea at breakfast each day. (That's all that's needed.)"
Flax Seed

[YEA] Rebecca from Allen, MI: "I have been taking blood pressure medication for over one year. I heard, from two different sources, about using ground flaxseed & thought I would give it try in order to "wean" myself from prescription drugs. I have been amazed at the results. I take a total of 4 tablespoons a day - usually 2 in the morning & 2 at night. I usually just mix it in water but sometimes I put it in my food (oatmeal works well & so does soup). I have been using it for 6 weeks and have decreased my meds from 20 mg a day to 5 mg a day!! My blood pressure has been more stable and MUCH, MUCH lower than when I took the full dose of my daily medication. It really does work. My goal was to be off prescription medication by January 2006 but I think I will make well before then!!!"
Food Allergies
11/14/2012: Dallas from Amesbury, Ma Usa: "I normally have normal to low blood pressure. But a few years ago, it started to spike higher and higher each day. I will attest to the fact that cardiovascular exercise did help temporarily for me, but not much else did. One day, I ended up in hospital due to very high blood pressure, pounding headache, pounding, racing heart etc. I asked the Dr. If it could be food allergies and he looked at me like I had two heads and said "schedule a physical. " What- and wait 6 months while I suffer ever escalating blood pressure and deadly symptoms each night?! I don't think so. I went to a naturopath who also thought "food allergies" and did some testing (blood tests). She found I was allergic to about 1/3 of food items I regularly ate. I dropped (with difficulty) those items from my diet and my blood pressure gradually came down back to low normal."
Foods That Help

[YEA] "Besides eating fish, it is also helpful if your diet includes large amounts of fruits and vegetables high in potassium and magnesium as they help the body to get rid of excess sodium. When the diet lacks these minerals, supplementation may improve blood pressure control. Foods rich in magnesium include nuts, rice, bananas, potatoes, wheat germ, kidney and lima beans, soy, and molasses. Foods rich in potassium include avocados, bananas, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, grapefruit, nectarines, oranges, asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, green peas, potatoes, and squash. Apple Cider Vinegar (our favorite!) also contains potassium and magnesium.
For more information about potassium, please read our potassium fact sheet.
You can also visit http://www.unhinderedliving.com/potassium.html for more information on potassium.
Garlic appears to lower blood pressure by 5% to 10%. It can also lower cholesterol, reduce triglyceride levels, discourage clot formation, and promote blood circulation. A typical dose of garlic is 900 mg of garlic powder per day. This dosage is also recommended for lowering high cholesterol.
Fruits like apples and pears are also said to decrease blood pressure by lowering cholesterol due to their high fiber content.

Garlic for High Blood Pressure
Taking a clove of raw garlic each day (or garlic tablets) can lower very effectively lower your blood pressure. If you're concerned about the bad breath side effects, try taking a bit of fennel or parsley afterwards to block the garlic breath!

[YEA] 05/02/2009: Monet from Cincinnati, Ohio: "Hello, I use your site all of the time and want to thank you for such useful information!
Recently, my feet started swelling along with blood pressure spiking to very high levels. I do not have high blood pressure so I could not understand what was going on. By day three I figured out I had a tooth infection that was probably starting to seep into my blood causing the swelling, blood pressure spikes, tingling in head, legs, and feet. After speaking with a dentist who felt they were unrelated and would not give me any advice on whether I should go to the ER, I decided to use garlic infused with yogurt (yogurt helps it go down easier). I took about 1 T. of crushed garlic and 1 T. of yogurt. Within 5 minutes the swelling in my feet went away and I felt my blood pressure had gone down. I took my blood pressure and it had dropped over 50 points! Obviously, the blood pressure spikes were brought on by the tooth infection, unbeknownst to the young Dentist!!!
I cook with garlic all of the time, but RAW GARLIC is terrific for blood pressure and infections!!!
Thanks!"
[YEA] 11/07/2008: Traveler from Louisville, KY: "Thanks, the ACV works. Just use a straw to keep from melting your teeth. What about garlic. I have used the fresh sliced garlic, not the elephant garlic, and it has helped the top number of my bp. I am working at getting off the bp meds especially the diuretics as they case me joint problems. I am allergic to even minute amouts of sulphur or any S in formulae.I think why not a salad 3x a day with garlic and ACV? My girlfriend lowered her cholesterol with the ACV, a Tsp. each evening. Are there other foods besides bananas that help with the hbp?"
Replies05/19/2010: Jonadoug from White Lake, Mi replies: "Regarding your question about bananas and HBP. I am guessing bananas are associated with lower BP because of the potassium. Other, higher potassium foods include Vegetable Juice and Avocados."
[YEA] 02/03/2007: Cynthia from San Francisco, CA: "THIS INFORMATION WAS VERY HELPFUL FOR ME AND THE REMEDY GARLIC REMEDY WORKED FOR ME VERY WELL AND LOWERED MY BLOOD PRESSURE AND HIGH CHOLESTEROL. THANKS AGAIN. HAVE A GOOD DAY...."
[YEA] 07/06/2006: Gail from Tuscon, AZ: "I've had high blood pressure for about 11 years following a major surgery. I've been taking HBP meds for 6 years. My diastolic reading keeps creeping up, and the Rx makes me extremely tired. I started taking high grade garlic tablets about a year ago and it works. My pressure dropped by 15 points. Now I'm looking forward to taking the Apple Cider Vinegar as well, as I have a problem with the 'kick-back' which causes garlic breath -- a curse in the marketing business."
[YEA] 02/21/2006: Pramod from Pimpri, Maharashtra India: "3 to 4 Garlic Cloves daily eaten raw. Blood Pressure went back to normal from 180 / 110 for six months, after which I discontinued the garlic. Planning to restart since my BP has reached back to 180 / 110."
[YEA] Tina from Boston, MA: "Fresh garlic has the tendency to lower blood pressure. One needs to eat just one clove daily."
Replies[YEA] 08/11/2011: Maria from Silver Spring, Maryland replies: "Garlic makes my blood pressure drop considerably. Either fresh or pill will bring it way down, so I cook with garlic all the time, or take a pill if I am travelling. Fresh or powder ginger also brings it down. The combination of both garlic and ginger tastes very good and ensures your blood pressure is low, but it has to be consumed everyday."
[YEA] Gloria from Pasadena,TEXAS: "The remedy I use is 4 celery sticks and 2 garlic pills or natural garlic per day. Watch the salt and caffeine intake. I also take a teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in the morning."
[YEA] Alan from NYC: "From personal experience, chopped garlic or pill form, and 1 or 2 bananas a day together with Omega 3, works very well."

11/20/2012: Franko from Perth, Australia: "As recommended I used the combination (mixed in a mixer) as a high blood pressure remedy. Used 1 or 2 sticks of Aloe /minus the thorns/, 1 lemon, 1tbs of honey, 1 banana, every morning on an empty stomach for over a month. My Blood Pressure is around 150/100 for around 35 yrs. Never used medications. had no side effects, It made no difference in my blood pressure at all. Maybe helped with my gastritis."
09/08/2012: John from Trang, Thailand: "I don't know what's 'essential' about hypertension. I do know that a helmet is essential if you ride a motorcycle and clean food is essential if you want to go on living. I know how essential it is that a good doctor [tell me if you find one] will give you the following information.
'White coat syndrome' increases blood pressure . Mmhg
Circadian rhythm 'High Tides' 0600am. 1200am &1700pm, increases blood pressure .mmhg
'Low Tides' 0300am and 1500pm, and lowers blood pressure .mmhg
It is 'essential to list the BP monitors that falsely show increased BP.
T ..o wrist monitor over reads systolic & diastolic by 6 mmhg to 8 mmhg.
O ..n upper arm monitor over reads systolic 3 to 8 mmhg, diastolic under reads 3 mmhg.
I know how 'essential' it is to take at least one more BP check 15 minutes after the first because it usually shows a lower - by around 5mmhg - more accurate reading.
I couldn't find mmhg figures for circadian rhythms and you may have different home monitors.
You can take this info along with you, he won't like it, but that's not your concern nor his.
You need to dispel the imposed fear that increases BP."
04/03/2012: Hil from Studio City, Ca: "I would like to thank everyone who responded to my post. It is most gracious of you to take your time and provide me with advice. In answer to some questions, yes, I tried the Mother and faithfully practiced the protocol, yes, I have had my adrenals checked and double checked. I also completely re-read the blood pressure thread and it seems what works for some doesn't work for other. I just have to find it. My offer stands.... $500.00 to you or your favorite charity if I can find my cure. God bless you all"
Replies04/03/2012: Heather from Leicester replies: "Hi, sorry if this duplicates what you have already been advised but 2 things I know lower blood pressure are potassium( such as eating bananas) and garlic. But really there must be a reason why you have high blood pressure that should be addressed as well. I should think that anything that thins the blood like aspirin for example would help to lower your blood pressure too. Reiki lowers blood pressure too if you are interested, it always sends me to sleep! Just some ideas for you."
04/03/2012: Mike from Montreal, Quebec replies: "Here is my 2 cents: Hawthorne in capsule form. Valerian also in capsule form. There is a lot of talk on the internet about the miracle effect of placing a bar of ivory soap between the sheets at night. This would help balance the electrolytes while you are sleeping. What I do is place each bar of soap just behind each of my knee caps and all the sudden I go from hyper to complete relaxation mode in less than 10 seconds. You can experiment by placing the soap bars on various locations of your body but should target the most stressed areas of your body. First do some reading on the internet about all those who were shocked because it worked so well for them. This has been very effective for me for as long I can remember since I to have always had high blood pressure problems because of work related pressure. Above all, high blood pressure will always be aggravating to you if you don't improve your work habits."
04/04/2012: Timh from Louisville, Ky, Usa replies: "Hil, have you had hair mineral test for metal toxicity??? I have very high Manganese plus abnormally high Arsenic plus a fungal and bacterial infection that often accompanies heavy metal toxicity. My BP has been fluctuating and is today at 186/118, is yours this high or higher???Kidney malfunction is common hpb indicator. Have you advanced hardening of arteries, this could elevate.
Celery is supposed to be good for lowering hbp, also the amino acid L-Arginine is prescribed."
04/04/2012: Lusabit from Sandakan, Sabah Malaysia replies: "You can simply follow my guide Hil.First, stop eating processed food. Limit table salt, stop smoking, limit sugar, exercise every day, learn about breathing technique, no more red meats, add more vegetables and fruits in your menu. Second, juicing is the best way to reduce your HBP dramatically as I experienced after being HBP for more than 10 years and now I'm back to normal. What I did is juicing fruits and veges. Mix them together.
Drink 1-3 times a day (a cup) of freshly pressed fruits vegetable juices. Choose vegetable that you can tolerate. Each cup of juice may contain one, two ore few of the following- Carrots
- beets
- melons
- daikon
- radishes
- FRESH celery (root and greens),
- wheat grass, barley grass, dinkel grass
- parsley (root and greens)
- dark green vegetables
- kale
- cucumber
- apples
- Grapefruits
- Cabbages
- Lettuce
- Root Turnip and Leafy Turnip
- OrangesYou can test the following combinations or create your own:
Carrots, parsley and celery
Carrots, cucumber and celery
Carrots, spinach and kale
Carrots, apples
Carrots, Cabbages
Oranges, carrots, lettuce
Carrots, wheat grass and kale
carrots with any green veges
green veges with oranges.I also love steamed vege (brocolli, carrots, cauliflower plus any green leaves) as my lunch and followed by fresh juices. Not only lowered my BP but also energizing me too and my skin looks clear than ever. I hope this helping you. By the way I need the $500 to buy my new juicer and more fruits and veges."
04/05/2012: Lusabit from Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia replies: "Hi Kat from Comox, I'm using the cheapest one I found. It's Pensonic Juicer, a local brand in Malaysia. It only cost me around $30, so far still working. Using it since years ago. I attached a link for the juicer images below. Hope this help you. http://www.ezyshop.com.my/store/pic/ezyshop2/item/PJ-37_@_LR_Green.jpg"
04/05/2012: Kat from Comox, Bc replies: "What type of juicer do you use? Need to know good cheap ones so I can afford it, I am seraching for one that presses as well. Is there such a thing? I am dealing with breast cancer and HBP. thanks for the ideas, kat"
04/06/2012: Hope from Sacramento, California replies: "Hi Hil -I also tried the ACV for over a month quite a while back and it did not help. What might be of assistance to you would be magnesium oil and also salt loading.
Please go to a search engine to find the info for the salt loading protocol. It is powerful and effective , when following the directions, and always using pure sea salt or celtic salt. The combination of using the magnesium oil and sea salt protocol calms my heart profoundly without fail.
It also helps to walk 1-2 miles each day and to feel appreciation of one's life and connection to the earth and source energy whenever possible.
Our thoughts create our reality on so many levels....
Wishing you the best...."
04/06/2012: Lou from Elk Grove, California replies: "First, I do not need the money, you can donate it to local SPCA or humane society. Next, this is what you do to lower and maintain blood pressure, Eliminate salt, absolutely zero salt diet. Make a tea as follows organic Hibiscus (quater cup), Green Tea (2 tbsp), organic Hawthorne Berries (quater cup), in a tea pot using boiling hot water (filtered). Let it steep for 20 mins, then drink it. You should be able to make approx. 6 cups of tea. Finally, go for a walk for about 30 to 45 mins every day. by the end of second week, you will see normal BP. I did that and mine is 106/72 and it used to be 180/120 and sometimes even higher. Remember, NO SALT."
04/06/2012: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "Your body needs salt. You mean "no refined table salt". You need unrefined sea salt. Unrefined sea salt is a gray like colour and you can only buy it from health food stores. Unrefined sea salt will not raise blood pressure. You have to make the distinction between refined and unrefined because telling someone to cut out all salt is very dangerous. Our bodies need salt (unrefined). Also processed foods contain huge amount of refined salt.. Cut out processed foods out of your diet.. read the labels how much sodium is in these foods (and I use the term food loosely here)."
