High Blood Pressure Remedies

"Blood pressure (strictly speaking: vascular pressure) refers to the force exerted by circulating blood on the walls of blood vessels, and constitutes one of the principal vital signs. The pressure of the circulating blood decreases as blood moves through arteries, arterioles, capillaries, and veins; the term blood pressure generally refers to arterial pressure, i.e., the pressure in the larger arteries, arteries being the blood vessels which take blood away from the heart. Arterial pressure is most commonly measured via a sphygmomanometer, which uses the height of a column of mercury to reflect the circulating pressure (see Non-invasive measurement). Blood pressure values are reported in either kilopascals (kPa) or in millimetres of mercury (mmHg), despite many modern vascular pressure devices no longer using mercury.
[...]
Typical values for a resting, healthy adult human are approximately 120 mmHg (16 kPa) systolic and 80 mmHg (11 kPa) diastolic (written as 120/80 mmHg, and spoken as "one twenty over eighty") with large individual variations. These measures of arterial pressure are not static, but undergo natural variations from one heartbeat to another and throughout the day (in a circadian rhythm); they also change in response to stress, nutritional factors, drugs, or disease. Hypertension refers to arterial pressure being abnormally high, as opposed to hypotension, when it is abnormally low. Along with body temperature, blood pressure measurements are the most commonly measured physiological parameters." (Wikipedia)

09/29/2007: Ted writes: "Subject: Is the Sodium Responsible for Blood Pressure or Is it the Chloride:While the problems of chlorides was known almost a century ago, not the sodium problem, many people keep arguing to me about the sodium. Sodium bicarbonate and sodium citrate don't cause blood pressure to rise. It is the halogens, in particular is the chloride found in sodium chloride, fluoride, bromine (this one is powerful) are the ones that caused the most problem based on my own observations. Here is some recent medical literature regarding my observations:: Med Hypotheses. 2004;63(1):138-48.Links

Should we restrict chloride rather than sodium? McCarty MF.

Low-salt diets have potential for prevention and treatment of hypertension, and may also reduce risk for stroke, left ventricular hypertrophy, osteoporosis, renal stones, asthma, cataract, gastric pathology, and possibly even senile dementia. Nonetheless, the fact that salt restriction evokes certain counter-regulatory metabolic responses-- increased production of renin and angiotensin II, as well as increased sympathetic activity--that are potentially inimical to vascular health, has suggested to some observers that salt restriction might not be of unalloyed benefit, and might in fact be contraindicated in some "salt-resistant" subjects. Current epidemiology indicates that lower-salt diets tend to reduce coronary risk quite markedly in obese subjects, whereas the impact of such diets on leaner subjects (who are less likely to be salt sensitive) is equivocal--seemingly consistent with the possibility that salt restriction can exert countervailing effects on vascular health. There is considerable evidence that sodium chloride, rather than sodium per se, is responsible for the known adverse effects of dietary salt. Other non-halide sodium salts, such as sodium citrate or bicarbonate, do not raise plasma volume, increase blood pressure, boost urinary calcium loss, or promote stroke in stroke-prone rats. Nonetheless, these compounds have been shown to blunt the impact of salt restriction on renin, angiotensin II, and sympathetic activity in humans. This may rationalize limited clinical evidence that organic sodium salts can decrease blood pressure in salt-restricted hypertensives. Furthermore, organic sodium salts have an alkalinizing metabolic impact favorable to bone health. These considerations suggest that restricting dietary salt to the extent feasible, while encouraging consumption of organic sodium salts in mineral waters, soft drinks, or other nutraceuticals--preferably in conjunction with organic potassium salts and taurine--may represent a superior strategy for controlling blood pressure, promoting vascular health, and preserving bone density. Further clinical studies should determine whether a moderately salt-restricted diet supplemented with organic sodium salts has a better and more uniform impact on hypertension than salt restriction alone, while rodent studies should examine the comparative impact of these regimens on rodents prone to vascular disease.

And my husband manages his blood pressure with 1000mg of magnesium a day: 500 in the am, 500 before bed. Works like a charm."

03/15/2010: Dee from Oakvile, Ontario, Canada writes: "I have been drinking 2tbsp ACV/3x per day for 9 days now. Notice some change in my evening BP but my morning reads are scary. This morning it was 156/102 (upon wakening) in the evenings (after 6) I'm averaging 135/85. I know that BP upon wakening is usually the highest (most heart attacks happen in the mornings probably linked to this fact). I really don't want to go on meds. Note: I've been using honey, maple syrup or splenda brown sugar to sweeten the mix.

Any suggestions as to why I'm not seeing results? Does it take some time (i.e. 2 or more weeks) in some cases? Discouraged when I read some people seeing immediate results. Has anyone else experienced a longer response time? Appreciate any feedback. Thanks"

[NAY]  03/13/2010: Dennis from Port St. Lucie, Fl writes: "Blog Readers

I must say that I am very disappointed in saying "No" to the ACV treatment for high blood pressure. The information was first given to me by my son, who has has seen a dramatic reduction of his HBP with the ACV with mother treatment. I have studied all the N/Yay's blogs on the subject hoping that it can prove to be a success for me.

This is my giving conditions. HBP 140/90; before meds of 10mg amlodipine, 10 mg Bystolic. (note the current meds reduces HBP (130/80))

I started with the regular store bought vinegar which did no show any results. I then consulted with my son and began usint the ACV mother. It appeared that within the first two weeks of use after re-cleansing or detoxing from my meds that I was feeling fine. Thus my confidence level was rising. I continued using the ACV and then bought larger 32fl oz bottle.

I have learned over time experimenting with different meds, and having done two colonoscopies to determine my gastroencyphlytic(esophageal) spasms to modify and manage my food intake. I say this to give background knowledge on the significance of proper diet and my awareness of food intake, which aids any ailments of the body.
Knowing this I was able to regulate my diet very well with the ACV; however when I bought the second 32fl oz with mother I began experiencing headaches, which is also a symptom of rising blood pressure. The headaches had started to increase at higher frequencies and lasting much longer. It was becoming unbearable, I took my BP with my home equipment and my HBP 150/94. I started to panic and was getting anxiety attacks. Luckily my wife always store the whole cranberries in the freezer to boil and make cranberry tea to minimize and relax the anxiety attacks. I immediately started to retake my meds.

It appeared that the headaches were not going away so I had an emergency visit with my family care physician. MY blood pressure was high HBP 152/96.

I got back on my meds and in two months have a follow up visit.

Although the ACV did not work for me I, would suggest that the readers of this blog follow up and monitor their condition should they notice a change.

Secondly I hope my message will encourage new readers that would like to try ACV to take good notes, understand their symptoms of HBP realizing that ACV may not bring the positive results they are searching for.

Sincerely
Dennis"

I read about the organic apple cider vinegar with mother being able to control HBP. I have some that was in the cabinet for salad dressing use. BP has been in the 120s/70s all day today too. Thank You Earth Clinic for all the valuable info."

02/15/2010: Teresa from Galax, Va replies: "Please tell me what "mother" stand for in your post. I saw it in another post from someone else also. I am confused on that part : ) Thanks! I sure hope this works for m : )"

EC: Best description about the "mother" is from the Bragg web site:

http://www.bragg.com/books/acv_excerpt.html

"Natural ACV should be rich, brownish color and if held to the light you might see a tiny formation of "cobweb-like" substances that we call the "mother." Usually some "mother" will show in the bottom of the ACV bottle the more it ages. It never needs refrigeration. You can also save some "mother" and transfer it to work in other natural vinegars. When you smell natural ACV, there's a pungent odor and sometimes it's so ripened it puckers your mouth and smarts your eyes.

02/15/2010: The_phoenix from Townsville, Australia replies: "Hi Teresa,

I have searched the net and can't find an answer as to what exactly is in the mother but from the available information the following is an approximate explanation:

- vinegar is the product of yeast fermentation to alcohol followed by bacterial conversion of the alcohol to acetic acid
- in the wild yeast and bacteria in the environment turn fallen fruit etc into vinegar
- there are a few species of yeast and bacteria than can be involved in nature or if you make your own vinegar
- commercial producers control production to eliminate wild yeast/bacteria and use selected or controlled species
- a typical yeast that is used is brewers yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae )and the most common bacteria used commercially is Acetobacter aceti.

- all producers, except those who make unpasteurised ACV, take steps to remove the yeast and bacteria at the end of the process
- the mother, in unfiltered and unpasteurised ACV is the residue of the yeast and the bacteria and possibly some of their byproducts
- the amount of mother in the ACV is very small
- because the yeast and bacteria have not been killed by boiling (pasteurisation) they can act as a seed if added to fresh apple cider or maybe fresh apple juice

(I hear that it takes some skill and experience to make good apple cider vinegar without wild yeasts spoiling the product)."

[YEA]  01/10/2010: Lauren910 from Orlando, Fl, Usa writes: "Hi all,

I am 28 years old and have had pre-hypertension for about the last year...usual readings were anywhere from 120-130/80-87. I stumbled upon this site in hopes for a natural remedy to lower my numbers. I was giving the raw, unfiltered ACV to my pets (just a bit in their water) and I had never tried it myself. For days 1 & 2 I used 2 tbsp. 3 times a day diluted in 10 ounces of water, then went to 2 tsp. 3 times a day.

All I have to say is that the results for me were amazing. After 4 days of taking ACV, my numbers are already lower. I just took my BP this morning and it was 110/63, and this is the average since I've been taking ACV. My fiance and I work in the medical industry and have a very expensive, trusted digital BP cuff we use here at home, so I am not worried about these results not being accurate."

[YEA]  01/09/2010: Hampton from Fort Washington, Maryland writes: "First let me start with I found this site by a search to find a source to assist with HBP on 1/3/2010. I was told in 2007 my BP was Pre-Hypertension 151/114. I was not put on medication right away. I asked to attempt to reduce on my own. Because I was unsuccessful, I was put on 5mg of Lisinopril. I developed symptoms, coughing, limbs going numb, low BP. also, this med was not successful in maintaining my BP. My BP has been averaging from 139/110-132/98. After reading others testimonies, on 1/7/2010, I purchased the mother ACV. That evening I mixed 1 tablespoon of ACV, 1 tablespoon of honey in 8 ounce of water. On Friday 1/8/2010 repeated the process 3x during the day. As of 1/9/2010, I cuffed as soon as I woke up BP registered 120/85. After rising and handling several task I cuffed again BP 98/76. I DID NOT BELIEVE IT SO I CUFFED AGAIN. My BP was 106/81. YES, IT WORKS!

Thanks for your site and all the responses."

[YEA]  01/08/2010: Barry from Shawnigan Lake Bc, Canada writes: "Dear Earth Clinic, thank you so much for posting so many positive comments regarding Apple Cider Vinegar! I recently had my first bout with Gout, and ACV scored an impressive knockout! I had been taking a diuretic for high blood pressure and in my initial research I learned that my medication could be contributing to my gout. It was new years eve and I couldn't get out to see my doctor until the following monday (4 days later) I found your website and learned about ACV. I knew we had some as my wife had asked me to purchase some for home made salad dressings. It wasn't organic with "mother" but rather a typical commercial brand "pure" ACV. Beggars can't be choosers and with nothing to lose, I decided to give it a try. I followed the instructions on your website and began to take 2 tbsp with water, tomato juice, etc. Within 12 hours the swelling crested and within 36 hours I was about 80% better. I was completely cured within 5 days. My Doctor confirmed that my medication could contribute to gout and was very impressed with ACV as a remedy. I decided to read up a little more about the benefits of ACV for my high blood pressure. Well, it's been 9 days now and with my doctors blessing, I've weaned myself off my medication. I've purchased an organic brand with the "mother" (available at most specialty grocery and health food stores) and I'm happy to report that my blood pressure is steady in the 122/80 range and is lower now that when I was on the medication (135/88). Thanks again! Like the oldtimers, I've started to take it straight up (with an apple juice chaser) I have more energy and am continuing my daily routine of 1/2 shot glass 2-3 times a day as I attempt to shed 40 lbs over the next 6 months. It's the miracle I've been looking for and I'm telling the world! Cheers!"

01/09/2010: The_phoenix from Townsville, Australia replies: "Hi Barry,

Great news that the Gout is gone.

Just to confirm:

- your G attack disappeared when you were using distilled (pure) vinegar and tomato juice only (you said "tomato juice etc" and I am wondering what the etc stands for)?

- did you juice tomatoes and use the freshly squeezed juice or did you buy juice?

- if you bought juice was it bottled or tinned (any chance you could report back what was in the juice e.g. tomatoes and/or tomato concentrate plus preservative or additive number or sugar etc)?

- how much juice did you use?

- how times a day did you take the remedy in the cure phase?

- was the juice you drank extra liquid that you normally don't drink?

Thanks for your feedback. It is very helpful to other G sufferers to know the details of the things that work. If possible it would be great if you could report back on how you get on in the future i.e. you never ever have another attack or you have more attacks but the remedy gets rid of them etc or any changes you make to the remedy.

Re your weight loss program:

I guess if you are overweight (by your own definition) then you might be thinking about how much you eat. I am not overweight and don't eat a lot in the way of sweets but every so often I used to go crazy on chocolate. I found that after I supplemented Magnesium (by way of Magnesium Oil) I lost my craving for chocolate (the Cocoa in chocolate contains Mg), in fact I don't really like it any more and would rather eat a home made dessert or biscuit. From this experience I concluded that so many people who try to diet, and fail, would be better off supplementing their diets, with the essential minerals, vitamins and essential fatty acids, and this will remove hunger cravings at the root cause level (of course we still need to eat enough carbohydrates to sustain our daily energy requirements for work and play but we won't be driven to binge eating by cravings caused by nutrient deficiency).

(Note that Magnesium and Iodine are two minerals many people in the West are short on).

Good luck with the weight loss."

01/11/2010: Barry from Shawnigan Lake Bc, Canada replies: "Hello Phoenix, I've been using the organic ACV with mother for the last week now. Prior to that I was using store brand pure apple cider vinegar, and not distilled pure vinegar. My first 2 gout treatments were 2tbsp store brand acv, 1 tbsp honey and 1 cup warm water. Then I moved on to canned vegetable cocktail (I referred to this as tomato juice) 8oz with 2 tbsp heinz acv. I used this combination for approx 4 treatments. Feeling much better and with improved mobility, I went out on Jan 2 and purchased organic acv with mother. At this point I moved onto approx 1/2 shot glass (2 tbsp) acv with 2 oz apple juice chaser and have continued this treatment 2-3 times daily for maintaining my newly lower BP. I am approx 40 lbs overweight with most of the weight around my belly. I find the acv helps with my digestion and curbs my appetite. I'm excited about this new discovery and all the side benefits. I don't have sweet cravings, I've just been a little undisciplined about serving sizes and the weight has slowly built up over the last 10-15 years. My wife is a gourmet cook and she's vowed to cut back on the salt in preparing our meals and I've vowed to reduce my portions and eliminate fast food, soda and prepared desserts.

Thanks for the encouragement.
Barry"

[NAY]  12/30/2009: Ken from Jerusalem, Israel writes: "I had been borderline high B.P. (145/85)for a number of years. Recently my B.P. really shot up (170/95) -could be because I haven't been feeling well for the last few weeks. Based on what I read on this website, 10 days ago, I started taking 2tbs of ACV 3 times a day. I've been taking organic, unpasteurized, naturally filtered ACV (it doesn't say "with mother" on the bottle but its got that cloudy look with the stuff floating in it). I've been taking it with 8oz of lemonade because I can't stand the taste.(Is it OK to mix ACV with lemonade?) Unfortunately, I haven't seen any improvement. I was wondering if I should give up or give it more time. Other people seem to get immediate results. I was also wondering if it's ok to take it with lemonade. Lastly, I want to know if it makes a difference if you take the ACV after you eat or is it better to take b4 a meal/on an empty stomach. Any advice would be greatly appreciated."

01/12/2010: Dj from Pdx, Or, Usa replies: "Ken,

What kind of lemonade are you using with your ACV? If there is sugar in it you may not get any (or very few) benefits from the ACV. If you can't stand the taste try adding 1 tsp honey to 2 tbsp ACV and water. The honey is a natural sugar.

You also may be on the receiving end of your body "healing" itself. Some people find their health issue gets worse when starting ACV as the body realigns itself.

Don't get discouraged. Everyone is different. The timetable of one will not apply to your own."

01/28/2010: Nickieb from Ruislip, Middlesex Uk replies: "I started using Apple Cider Vinegar with mother two weeks ago for arthritis. Four times a day I take 1/3 mug apple juice, 2/3 hot water with 1 tabsp vinegar. Tastes very acceptable rather like lemonade. You could make with cold water but it's winter here and this is comforting. In the last few days I've also tried adding a teaspoon of Blackstrap Molasses. Put that in mug first and then 2/3 fill with hot water to dissolve before adding apllejuice and vinegar. It's really nice and more importantly it has helped the arthritis no end. Scarcely any hip or knee pain after the first couple of days; still have some stiffness but haven't really started exercising yet so that could be the reason and solution.

Also I have dabbed ACV neat on skin irritation which stopped after a few minutes. This occurs from time to time and I can't figure what causes it except maybe chlorinated water.

I've noticed quite a few people on this site snivelling about the taste of ACV. Maybe they're not hurting enough but they should find a recipe that works for them. Take less at a time and do more often, whatever, because it's brilliant. Can't remember how I found this site but I'm so glad I did and thank you all so much. Nickie"

01/29/2010: The_phoenix from Townsville, Australia replies: "Hi Nickieb,

Great that you have made a step forward. I found that once I achieved my first stepped improvement, with Arthritis, that really motivated me to go for the 100% cure (I'm not quite there yet but I am slowly and steadily improving and also increasing my repertoire of tricks).

I am a sports lover and didn't excercise for over a decade because of the after-pain that it caused and also the fear of breaking something, or making it worse.

Since I went back to sport I am amazed at what I am now able to do. I started slowly and took my time to build up my stamina etc but I am now back to being competitive at club level (something I barely dreamed of on my worst days). Any Arthritic who can't excercise should start with massage ... even self massage will do the job. I use Magnesium Oil and rub it into my joints before participating in sport. I also rub it on a joint if I pull up sore afterwards or anytime I feel a joint or muscle hurting more than usual.

In the short term Mag Oil isn't really a silver bullet for the big A but it is something of an energy booster, pain killer and it also gives a temporary improvement in flexibility. At one stage I massaged my joints with it several times every day but I don't need to do that now. In the long term I haven't drawn a line under what MgCl2 is capable of. IMO it is something that needs to be maintained, consistently, for quite a while (it is a pretty good all purpose massage oil too because it washes off first time in water so you don't end up all greasy afterwards, or get grease on your clothes etc... if you do use it for massage do be careful not to keep going if it starts to dry out because it forms tiny chrystals that can cut into the skin if rubbed .... if it gets a bit sticky just wet your hands a little and this will make it oily again).

I found that Arthritis is a depressing and enervating condition and that the exercise helps by building overall fitness which makes us mentally positive and energetic enough to fight back. The Mag Oil also helps with that because it stimulates production of DHEA (reference Dehydroepiandrosterone or DHEA on Wikipedia OR Google [Dr Norman Shealy DHEA], author of'Holy Water Sacred Oil').... which is why, IMO, we should keep it up for the duration.

Note that in MagOil trials that Dr NS conducted he found that intracellular Mg increased and that DHEA decreased at first and then later increased and stayed at higher levels while MgOil supplementation was maintained (he claimed that the fall was due to the intitial applications being used up in a detox phase).

My training protocol is:

- implement some health protocols that start to make the joints feel better i.e. you have good reason to believe the joints are rebuilding, or will do so with time (Glucosamine, ACV, diet, supplements, herbs, anti-inflammatories etc).. this process has to be in place before starting excercise or else you will just increase the risk of doing further damage.... make sure you can feel the joints starting to heal as your protocol takes affect.

Note that my favourite remedies are diet and mineral supplements, which IMO treat arthritis at the root cause but whatever floats ones boat (I also swim regularly in warm seawater but not everyone can manage that

BTW I don't fancy a dip at Blackpool at the moment :-)

- start excercising once a week (arthritic joints need long recovery times)
- start with very low workloads and short training sessions (5-30 mins max) until you gain strength and confidence
- keep training through mild pain
- stop for acute pain (of course we all have different pain thresholds but that all takes care of itself anyway)
- the pain general worsens a few hours after training. As long as the pain has gone back to normal within 24-48 hours that is OK (use icepacks, heatpacks, Epsom Salt or MagOil baths or footbaths for the pain)
- once the pain, and recovery time, after training has subsided to reasonable levels change to training twice a week (in my case that took me about 6 months but it doesn't really matter either way as long as you make it).
- beyond 2 times a week * 30-60 minutes training then you are out of the invalid category and into the sportspersons club.

Really it is like constantly walking a tightrope with joint pain on one side and excercise stimulus, leading to gain, on the other.

Please let us know how you get on in the long run.

I found that after I got rid of the throbbing joint pain I was left with stiffness in the worst joints and that is taking me longer to cure.

You seem to be flying along but others should be prepared for ups and downs .... overall the average pain diminishes and the joint strength increases but not in a straight line (not in my experience anyway).

Someday I will write up my complete arthritis protocol but really I am not using anything that hasn't already been documented somewhere or ruther on Earth Clinic."

[YEA]  12/20/2009: Ben from Athens, Oh writes: "Hi Everyone,

I am 24 and was diagnosed with high blood pressure about a year ago. I haven't changed my diet but I did try meditation and breathing techniques which helped a little. My blood pressure was generally 135-155/90-70 with readings averaging to 145/85. I just drank 2 Tbs. of organic apple cider vinegar with 5% acidity straight. When I woke up this morning my blood pressure was 140/80, but 40 minutes after drinking the vinegar it was 116/70. I will have to check into the effects of ingesting so much acid if I am to do this regularly. I will also start diluting the vinegar so that it doesn't wear away at tooth enamel."

12/29/2009: Matte from Kalamazoo, Mi replies: "I have recently started drinking the organic apple cider vinegar w/mother and have started to see results within a few weeks (numbers changing from 140/104 to 134/97) better, but not as good as others have seen (I am a vegetarian who eats pretty healthy and exercise regularly). My question is as to whether or not the ACV supplements works as well as the liquid, as I really do not enjoy the taste of the ACV, even with organic honey and juices for flavor. Is one better than the other or would a combination be best (alternating between the liquid and the supplements)?"

I'm in danger of losing my job due to high blood pressure neglect. I don't want my family to have to suffer for my stupidity. I have tried my 4th BP medication now, and I need a blessing right now. Please pray for me and my family. I will be doing the same for all of you. Thanks!"

01/06/2010: Sharon from Wahiawa, Honolulu replies: "I too suffer with high blood pressure. However, i am taking medication from my doctor until i can find a remedy that really works!! i do believe that acv, garlic, cayenne pepper will work if you take them together reducing your sodium intake. Pls do more research. However, GET MEDICATION from a doctor in the meantime. high bl. pr. can lead to stroke or worse. Better to be safe than sorry."

[YEA]  12/05/2009: Celteyes from Pearland, Texas writes: "high blood pressure

I was diagnosed with exercise induced hypertension about a month ago. I am very lucky as the cardiologist told me he believes in natural medicine and he gave me until February to get better before he would put me on blood pressure meds.

The apple cider vinegar has worked. I love it so much I drink it at least 3 times daily. I put 1 tablespoon in about 8 oz.water. I add 3 packet of real lemon and 2 packets of truvia. I add ice and it tastes like a tangy lemonade.
Initially when I was worked up they had to stop the treadmill because I went in with normal BP and in 2 minutes it was 220/118. I was shocked. Never in my life have I had this problem.

Last week I was running many errands and walked back and forth across Target twice..I felt so tired I thought uh oh I better check my B/P. I went to the pharmacy and it read 130/80. That is still not my usual low BP but I think that is great after running around all day"

Is there added health benefit to drinking it in water? Won't it work in lowering hbp if drinking the ACV alone without the water? Someone please reply. thank you, renate"

11/19/2009: Stephanie from Burnaby, B.c., Canada writes: "Hi Thanks for this wonderful web site, I am your devote reader and supporter of most of your remedy. My father-in-law recently just have a big operation of removing the stomach and part of the esophgeals due to the cancer situation and also the lymph grand around his chest. He now depend on his duodenal and intestine to obsorb nutrients. He used to have a history of high blood pressure and slightly high blood suger level. His blood pressure has been really high (200/115)for the last few weeks and the doctor found him has edema too (swelling) Do you think I should let him try apple cider vinegar? and will that cause problem to his intestines because he has no stomach to neutralize the acid.

If I cannot add baking soda to the apple cider vinegar because of the sodium, do you think I can add other thing like magnesium and still can lower his BP? Thanks for the opportunity to post here. Hope that you can help him. He is 82 years now and its sad to see him suffer like this.

Thanks
Stephanie"

[NAY]  11/15/2009: Tony from Monroe, Nj writes: "I read everyone's feedback on how ACV lowered their blood pressure and was so impressed I went out and bought 2 bottles. Took 2 tsp 3 times a day for 3 weeks and it did absolutely nothing to lower my blood pressure. My pressure is still approximately 150/95. I am so disappointed. I truely thought after reading everyone's comments that I finally found a natural remedy that would work. I would love to hear from others that also experinced the same as me and if there are any other natural remedies. Was it perhaps something I did wrong? Should I have given ACV more time to work?"

11/15/2009: Benjamin from Newberg, Or replies: "The reason it didn't work is probably easily explainable. Did you buy Heinz "Distilled" Apple Cider Vinegar? If so, you bought the wrong product. The key to ACV working is a raw, undistilled product which contains a "mother". That is, a slurry of weird looking goo in the bottom of the bottle. It is a collection of long chain amino acids and other stuff which has all the healing effect. Think of it as bio-drugs."

12/02/2009: Xddy4u from Jacksonville, Florida, USA replies: "You can't take apple cider vinegar and expect it to do miracles. Stop eating all that high sodium foods, then take your ACV, and you will see a difference. You want something that will allow you to "pig out" on all foods, and lower your blood pressure, all at the same time, ACV is not for that."

My last medication wasn't working. I have been averaging 155/108. I took ACV today all three times and checked it this evening, 120/82. I am amazed! Talk about impressive results! Thank you all for your helpful posts!"

10/24/2009: Grace from Vancouver, Canada replies: "Seeing so many positive response for ACV dealing with high blood pressure, I am telling my husband that he should really give it a try. We do have a question regarding when to take the 2T of ACV, 3x/day, is it before or after meal? Or does it matters at all? Can anyone doing the ACV kindly reply. Thanks!"

11/02/2009: Megan from Warner Robins, Ga replies: "In response to Grace from Vancouver. On a routine basis you would use 2 teaspoons full up to 3 times a day. The 2 tablespoons would come in say if you were sick with the flu or trying to fight off something. As with any detox start out with low amounts and work up from there. Some people report taking it before a meal to aid in digestion/weight loss. I have read many times it is recommended in a 8oz glass of water that you sip through a straw throughout the day. I usually take 2 teaspoons in water and the last few days have started adding BSM in warm water with ACV once in the morning. Three weeks and I am starting to feel like a new woman! I have also had success with regular store brand ACV. Hope this helps."

I read your site because I didnt want to be put on medication. I wanted to try an alternative route to lower my blood pressure. I tried apple cider vinegar (regular type from grocery) and no change. I purchased a natural acv with the mother and my blood pressure was lower within days of using this. I drink 2tsp in a glass of water about 3x per day. It has also curbed my appetite for sweets and other junk foods. I have lost about 20 pounds in less than 3 months doing this. I have told everyone about the apple cider vinegar and encourage you to try it if you have high blood pressure. It tastes bad the first time or two but after you get used to the taste i actually like it."

Last year I was in a terrible accident with a bus, whoich left me with a few multiple anxiety disorders. Since I was 19, I have practiced Yoga and vegetarianism, I am 57 years of age presently. I tried the blood pressure mediceine once and felt like I was going to die. After speaking with a few friends including a 33, 52 and 43 year old, whom each had been diagnosed with high blood pressure, hypertension, etc. they suggested I not take the medicine. I not only planned to not take it, I told the doctor that if anyone was to prescribe anything for me, it would have to be me. I have beefed up my Yoga routine, I have no weight issues, or had a background, other than before I became a vegetarian, I beleive that I can get my bp down. I had ACV in my cabinet, and wanted to remind myself of what a marvelous home remedy it is. I would love to report, my findings in a week. Presently my bp is 180/100. I am learning to relax in an unrelaxed society."

I started drinking this because I heard it was good to lose weight but I never though it was good for high blood pressure. I just happened to be inquiring about the benefits of ACV when I found you site and I think is fantastic. Thanks very much for all the information. Sincerely, Lourdes"

I started taking ACV with Mother in it just last Thursday. By Saturday I was getting readings back around 140/90. By Monday I had readings of 125/83 and 130/84. I was taking it at different times throughout the day with a cuff a friend loaned me. I'm really glad I found this site as I was able to pass a physical I had to take in order to renew my license. I'm of course continuing to take ACV at 2 tbs 3x a day. I'm not exactly sure why it works but have heard that ACV was good for detoxifying your body anyway so I figure it can't hurt."

10/25/2009: Hpagan from Hoboken, New Jersey replies: "I keep reading all the benefits regarding ACV with mother? Which ACV is best? And what is Mother? I keep reading drink ACV with Mother in it??? Please help?"

10/28/2009: Karin from Escondido, Ca replies: "the brand of the acv you want you will find at whole food stores. We cannot post the actual name but the name has a mother in it."

10/28/2009: Babs from Altoona, Pa replies: ""the mother" is the natural slimy stuff in the vinegar that gets filtered out in most apple cider vinegar sold in grocery stores. What you want is organic, raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar as it has most of the natural properties. You can find it in health food stores and sometimes the organic sections of grocery stores. It is much more cloudy than the filtered kind, and there is stuff floating in it when you shake it up."
