[YEA] Suzanne from Abbotsford, Bc writes: "As many have commented on here, I endured many bladder infections and took WAY too many antibiotics before knowing that they can cause more problems than they "cure". Yes, you will probably end up with yeast infections sooner or later, if you take antibiotics. Some simple preventive measures: have showers, not baths, and pee after being intimate.

If you still get one, take 1/2 tsp. baking soda in a glass of water, several times a day, if necessary, until it goes away. This alkalizes your body, and an alkalized body cannot get sick. I also take baking soda if I feel something "coming on" and it almost always goes away."

[YEA] Hayley from Hanalei, Hi, 96714 writes: "Lime Juice as UTI Preventative for Chronic UTI's...

2 tbsp/8 oz. glass of water (2x per day, 1/morning, 1/evening)

I get a UTI at least once/month and they're primarily caused by sex. I've always done the routine of cleanliness (peeing before/after, showering so there is as little bacteria in the area to even tempt an infection etc.) when having sex though an infection always occurred no matter how careful I was. This has been happening for the past 7 years and I've only ever been prescribed antibiotics to cure/prevent. After being sick of taking so much antibiotics to keep up with my libido I started doing my research on alternative treatments and here's what I've found that worked...

If your story parallel's mine, I've found that drinking lime juice in the morning and evening diluted in water prevents me from getting a UTI. Though you MUST do this EVERYDAY. People in my situation are in a critical place considering body maintenance and keeping our bodies clean. Lime is very Alkaline with other beneficial vit.'s and I believe this has a lot to do with disallowing bacteria to develop - hence - no infections. Though once more, you must be discipline and drink EVERYDAY. I promise this will work.

Fresh Lime Juice is always best though there are crystallized forms if you're always on the go like me. I stock up on limes at the beginning of the week, squeeze my lime juice and keep in fridge. When I'm without it I always make sure I have the crystallized packets."

[YEA] London from Sandusky, Ohio writes: "OK, guys, I'm sure by now, it's well known, (since I've tried every cure on this website known to man) My struggles with Chronic Bladder infections on here.

Recently, I broke down and went to the hospital to get antibiotics. They didn't work, it was alarming truly, this is modern medicine. After, about, THREE trips back to the hospital, and THREE rounds of antibiotics, and about 4 months of struggling with my latest bladder infection, I finally found a natural cure, that I think is very effective.

I was frustrated, nothing was working. I tried the ACV, I tried sea salt, baking soda, alka seltzer, EVERYTHING. Coconut Milk, (which tastes really gross)

My friends, a combination of Olive leaf extract, and turmeric herb cured my stubborn bladder infection.

You have to take about 2 dropperfuls of olive leaf extract (alcohol free) dissolved in a cup of water about three times a day, along with 2 caps of turmeric herb, three to four times a day.

This is intensive treatment, but that's what it took for me.

I cap my own turmeric by the way, in veg. caps 00

[YEA] Sarahbelle from Bryan, Ohio writes: "Uti or interstitial cystitis and acid/alkaline

Please read this if you have a UTI or IC!! I have been researching and this is my conclusion: Your urine is either too acid OR too alkaline. It may have caused bacteria to grow, or if cultures couldn't detect bacteria, it could just be irritated as in IC. I always read that my urine was too acidic. When I tried to make it more alkaline I was even more miserable! Once, when I was taking a barley powder product for it's health benefits, my bladder got worse. It was too alkalinizing. I read that DISTILLED WATER was very acidic, so I chugged a gallon that day. What a relief! (One wouldn't want to drink distilled water for more than three days, as prolonged use can be detrimental, but it is easy on the struggling kidney and bladder.) Make sure you know if your urine is too acidic or too alkaline before you treat yourself. You can buy testing strips at a pharmacy. The doctors in our rural area would think I was weird if I started talking about natural cures and acid/alkaline. Be your own doctor if possible. Best wishes.

[YEA] Terrisa from Lubbock, Tx writes: "Urinary Tract Infections

Between the age of 7 and 10, my daughter had multiple urinary tract infections. Our pediatrician even had us have the bladder and kidney ultrasound done! After her last UTI, she began having symptoms around 5 PM--after doctor's hours and I didn't want her to have to sit in an ER for hours suffering, so I went and got her that pyramidine that turns the urine orange, but makes the symptoms tolerable, when I found a new product that has the following ingredients (since we can't mention the brand name here): benzoic acid, methenamine, sodium salicylate. I gave her just 2 tablets and she started feeling better within 30 minutes, and urinated with a normal volume within an hour. The next morning when I took her to her pediatrician, they did an in office lab test and the test was negative for bacteria. Since then, I've felt the symptoms coming on myself, and so I've taken 2 tablets and it's taken care of the infection. I asked my daughter's pediatrician how it could work and she looked at the ingredients and said she didn't see how it works just by looking at the ingredients--but, it does and I'm very thankful--and, it didn't make me get the yeast infection that I would get from taking antibiotics. Hope this helps, and thank you for this website--had a horrible toothache at 4:30 this AM and read about using cloves powder so I packed my tooth and it worked miraculously! The two ibuprofen didn't work, but the cloves worked within 2 minutes. I love this website and have it in my favorites. Thank you, Terrisa

[YEA] Aniasf from San Francisco, Ca, USA writes: "Vitamin C for bladder infection (cystitis)

I had a few acute bladder infection that I treated with antibiotics. Then there was that really nasty one which turned into a chronic problem. I was on various drugs for a year, it was ruining my stomach and whenever I stopped taking them the problem was returning.

A friend showed me a book about natural healing where one of the remedies was high dose vit C. I didn't expect much but it was easy enough to try. I think I was taking 5000 to 8000 mg a day in diluted form. Within days I was off any other medication and then shortly off vit C as well. What a life saver!

My bladder has never been the same after that year of cystitis, I have to avoid most of red wines, but this is manageable.

The cure in the book also mentioned drinking cranberry juice and eating watermelon with seeds. Maybe they also helped, but the vitamin drink had critical effect. I could feel the pain ease almost immediately after taking it.

Michele from Spring Grove, Pa - Usa writes: "YEA!!!!! I haven't had a bladder infection for years, but got hit with one tonight - of course, after all the drugstores locally were closed . I immediately came to this site as it has been very helpful for other things. First tried the ACV, but the pain was getting worse, along with shakes and chills. Frequent urination with little result and increasing pain finally got me to go wake my husband up and send him to an all night gas station/store for Alka-Seltzer.

By the time he got back, I was nearly on the floor with the pain - and I have a very high pain tolerance. Took 2 tablets in water and then took a hot - steaming hot - shower. By the time I got out of the shower the pain had subsided and I was able to urinate a more normal amount. Took another dose about 2 hours after the first and am also drinking cranberry juice and my normal mix of ACV and honey.

I am absolutely AMAZED at how quickly the Alka Seltzer worked. I'm sending this site link and the info to everyone I know. Thank you so much!!!"

[YEA] Cheryl from Bakersfield, California writes: "I want to tell you of a cure that helped me once. In 1986 I had a bladder infection. I got them often and it would always cost me a hundred dollars to get rid of it. Fifty for the office call and fifty for the medicine that turned my urine red. My symptons were an intense feeling that I needed to urinate, but I could not. I would have intense pain and cold chills. Well I got it one day, and I didn't have the money to go to the doctor. I prayed and I heard a man's voice inside my head say: "Go in the kitchen and pour yourself nine ounces of pure water, put one level tablespoon of baking soda in it, stir and drink it down." Well, I had never in my life heard of doing that, but I obeyed the voice and did it. And pretty soon I could urinate without pain, and the water came out very soft! I only had to do that one more time and to this day I have not had another bladder infection! That's the only time that GOD spoke to me so clear! (Don't try the baking soda if you just had a bowl of chili as it might cause a reaction)."

[YEA] Kaliskaphoenix from Ville, Kentucky writes: "Apple Cider Vinegar for UTI

I have had many UTIs since I was 18, and I am now 20. So when I experienced burning urination on thanksgiving day, I knew what I was in for. Unfortunately, seemingly all of the immediate care clinics in my area were closed, and in an attempt to avoid sitting in the ER which would have been my only medical option, I searched for natural remedies.

Cranberry juice works perfectly fine for preventing UTIs, but once it has actually onset it doesn't seem to do any good, at least by itself. I read all of the recommendations for apple cider vinegar on this site and decided to give it a try. I took 2 tablespoons and then 2 more about 3 hours later. I also took some alka seltzer for pain relief, and some vitamin C and a cranberry supplement pill just for good measure, and drank endless amounts of water and cranberry juice.

I felt some relief that night. Although urination was somewhat painful, it wasn't as unbearable as it had been earlier in the day. I woke up once throughout the night having to pee, and aside from that I slept all the way through the night. The next morning I felt 100% better, and I was completely back to normal. I plan on continuing to take 2 tablespoons 2-3 times a day for the rest of the week to feel confident that the infection is completely gone.

Apple cider vinegar does taste terrible, but personally I didn't feel like it was any worse than trying to down a shot of cheap liquor. I would definitely have another drink to wash it down with though.

[QUESTION] Annie from Old Hickory, Tennessee, USA writes: "Please help, I have been faithfully giving my family organic ACV for about a year now. So far, it as help my family but I am stumped at something. MY six year old daughter came down with a high fever for a week, no other symptoms other than high fever and lethargy. She also has a greenish tone to her skin. Took her to doctors and she tested negative for H1N1 and Strep. She did not have any pain when urinating or anything but took a urine test and found tons of puss in urine and a bit of blood. We put her on antibiotics and fever went down and she is feeling much better. O.K. the weird thing is that I have also come down with a bladder infection and am antibiotics. I have religiously taken Organic ACV and I also thought bacterial infections like bladder infectious are not contagious. I am confused and I am wondering if that is all it is, a bladder infection. If so, how can we get that when we our all taking shots of ACV with water morning and night. Should I be worried something else is going on?

I love Earth Clinic and try to follow the remedies but it is disappointing to be taken ACV for over a year now and come down with a bacterial bladder infection, it kinda took the air out of my sails. My children hate the taste of ACV and I tell them how good it is for them and then when they get sick and nothing helps but antibiotics I can't help but start to question what I m doing. So many people out there want to tell you that your kids need vaccines and drugs and etc... and I don't want to do use them but it is hard. Any suggestions out there?

Peace~

[YEA] Liz from Shelton, Washington writes: "Dandelion is free. Recently used it to cure bladder and kidney infections in both my granddaughter and my daughter. Used the dried leaf which I had collected and dried. It really does work. Use one rounded teaspoon per six to eight ounces of boiling water. Let it steep for at least five minutes before drinking. If the infection is severe two rounded teaspoons may be used per cup. Do not use dandelion leaves that have been sprayed with chemicals or that have been collected from along roads or highways. I have very old dandelion plants that grow leaves that obtain 14 inches in length and 8 to 9 inches wide and collect them every year to dry. Dandelion also makes a good body cleanse and was used by the pioneers as a spring tonic. Some people do not care for the taste of the tea so adding a mint tea and some honey to it improves the taste. My daughter says she doesn't mind the taste."

This is my daily routine & when I have an infection (which has been 2x' in the last 3 years!)

Daily:
ACV pill 2x's a day
UVA URSA pills 2x's a day (there are some pills that are for balancing the urinary tract system that have this herb in it)
Vitamin C 1x's a day
Water, water, water
Keep it clean down there, especially after sex

During a UTI:
Double or triple dosage of ACV
Double UVA URSA dosage
Sit in a shallow tub with warm water and 1-2 cups of ACV. Soak for about 5 minutes.
Cut out all sugar

I have shared this with friends who now swear off doctors for UTIs."

[YEA] Jo from London, Uk writes: "recurrent bladder infections and irritable inflammed bladder beaten!

I struggled for 2 years to get this under control with antibiotics and natural remedies but I have finally been cured with pilates and chiropractic treatment. Also, you need to get the right antibiotics if you are willing to take them again but i wouldn't touch them unless you are willing to work your pelvic floors muscles and the easiest way is pilates. Your bladder may also be displaced and the nerves from your spine to your bladder may be trapped in some way. its worth getting checked. I was shocked to find i have scoliosis which explains my back ache and corrective treatment and pilates is giving me my life back from recurrent bladder infections. If you do not wish to take antibiotics again then you can use golden seal tincture. you can make it into a warm douche (let any alcohol evaporate first) and hold it inside for 15 mins, do this until you feel the infection is gone but do not use to long periods of time. I actually take oregano oil every night before bed 8 drops mixed with a tablespoon of codliver oil which is also good for inflammation.

if you do nothing else then do pilates and work those pelvic floor muscles....after only 3 1hr sessions 1 x per week my bladder feels like it should! I'm 31 by the way so I can't imagine how bad this could have got if I didn't treat it. please email me if you would like any more info as i know how desperate you can feel when these infections won't go away! best wishes

I woke up and realized I was getting a UTI this morning so I came to EC site to find out what I could do without having to use antibiotics. I saw all the positive responses for ACV so I tried that. I put 2 tbsp into to 2 cups of water and drank it down. 20 minutes later I was still in pain so tried again; 2 tbsp ACV in 2 cups water. 40 minutes went by, nothing. Then read that some had needed to add baking soda to the mix. So I put another tbsp of ACV and mixed with 1 tbsp baking soda. In less than 15 minutes the pain had subsided. However, shortly after started having watery diarrhea. I had read in another persons post that people who are experiencing stomach problems should be careful with the ACV/baking soda mixture because it can act as a laxative, but for some reason didn't pay attention. Well, my stomach has been touchy lately and this definitely made it worse. It helps with the infection, but may cause other problems. I don't recommend this cure to someone with stomach issues."

I bought a small jar of ____ Apple Cidar Vinegar (with the mother) from my local whole foods and not being totally convinced it would work, sprung for the D-Mannose tablets too. I've found that the apple cidar vinegar was pretty strong, but I still put two tsp in a glass of water (or tea or cranberry juice) three times a day for three days. The frequency of urination was beginning to subside, but because I was taking both ACV and D-Mannose, I couldn't determine which one was working. Since the ACV was giving my stomach a hard time, I decided to stop taking it for a day or two, but kept up the D-Mannose. To my astonishment (and relief), the D-Mannose seems to have done the trick! No more frequent, painful urination! Today is Day 6 of treating my UTI on my own (Day 3 of taking ONLY D-Mannose) and so far, so good! I feel like a normal human being again! I've read that D-Mannose is only effective in powder form, but I have to disagree, at least in my case. I take two capsules first thing in the morning with a full glass of water and one capsule at night before bed and presto! No moe UTI! (Although I do want to point out that since drinking the ACV, my skin has never looked better!) I just wanted to share my experience, as so many of you have shared yours, and hope that sharing my experience might help someone, as I have been helped by this site! Good luck in searching for natural remedies and remember - don't give up! There ARE other ways to treat infection and disease besides what your doctor pushes on you. Find answers and find good health!"

[YEA] Ava from New York, Bronx writes: "Last night I noticed I had frequent urination, with little urine actually being expelled. Blood in my urine, feverish chills, pain in my lower abdomen, basically: Bladder Infection. I had a mild freakout as this has never before happened to me. In an effort to avoid having to see a doctor (I've just switched insurance plans so I didn't even have a PCP) I came to Earthclinic.com to look for "cures." I saw all the Yays for ACV and, skeptical but with nothing to lose, I took a shot (approx 4oz) of the stuff with a water chaser. (This site is the only reason I even own a bottle. I've used it as a toner with fairly decent results). It was so disgusting and actually painful going down that I wondered if I had just made the situation worse. I used the toilet a few more times, noticing more blood than was previously there, still painful. About 30 min later, my roommate took me to the emergency room. I was signed in, and went to use the restroom again. Less blood, still painful. No fever this time. As we were sitting there chit-chatting and waiting to be seen, I suddenly realized that I hadn't had the urge to urinate in over 15 minutes. This was VERY surprising since, before the ACV, I had to urinate about once every 2-3 minutes. In another 15 min I was asked to give a urine sample and this time my urine flowed so freely that I filled the entire cup! (Sorry to be so graphic but these were, for me, the determining factors to the efficacy of ACV). No nausea, no pain!!! I couldn't believe it! There was however a tiny bit of blood left but honestly, with the way I had felt all night I couldn't have cared less. I thought I was cured but my roommate convinced me to err on the side of caution and get some antibiotics anyway. I will continue to take my antibiotics as recommended by the doctor.

I don't claim to have been cured by ACV as a bladder infection is serious business but I can definitely attest to the pain-relieving, possibly even flushing qualities of this miraculous (and natural!) healing liquid!

Please note: I used Raw, Organic, Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar.

Warning: it is totally disgusting when it goes down so you may want to dilute it first. :)

I love this site and have been reading it for over a year now! This was the most serious problem I've used any of the remedies for and it worked beautifully!"

[YEA] IceSeraph22 from Burton, MI, USA writes: "I have never had UTI before. But when I got it I knew!! I called my mom and got her on the ball. But with all of her wisdom, a hot bath, sea salt, cranberry juice, and some over-the-counter drugs to help with the symptoms, it was the experiences of the people on this site that really made a difference. I went out and grabbed D-Mannose as quick as I could. This progressively helped my condition and in three days of use i was completely healed. Not to be religious. But I was free from pain and bleeding. I know pretty icky but this site keep it real.

I really appreciate this site. and this is not the first time that I have been helped."

Honeylette from Dublin, Ireland writes: "8 years ago my son experienced hematuria when he was still 7 years old. The doctors suspected him og having a PAN, a conditon i dont fully understand. His basophils were higher then normal and many more. I combine medical treatment, pranic healing which was effective too and supported him of a fresh herbal tea as his drinking water. He recovered in a year depriving him from eating all prohibited foods and colored drinks. What I want to know if this is recurrent or heriditary as my grand daughter had a UTI at 7 months old. May I know our simple guides to prevent UTI (hematuria) from recurring? I am scared to hear this ailment. thank you"
