for Urinary Tract infections use Alka Seltzer the original - it works!
Alka Zeltzer did not work for my UTI. I did it for a couple of days, didn't work at all.
Hi! I had the definate beginnings of a UTI last night, and it was getting worse. I took magnesium and zinc, tried to drink sea salt in water (didn't make it too far, since burning pee is bad enough w/o drinking an emetic), and then took the alka seltzer. So, it could've been a combination of these remedies, but as soon as I took the alka seltzer it was GONE. Woo-hoo! Just thought it needed more emphasis as a possible remedy, it's something you might have around the house (b/c these things always seem to hit at night! Why is that?!), and it won't hurt anything to give it a try, as compared to trying to drink salt water or ACV, either of which to me are worse than the infection. Oh, and I just remembered I also drank some lemon juice in water last night, so maybe that helped some too. Hope this helps somebody!
After drinking a whole bottle of 100% cranberry juice to cure a bladder infection, I tried the Alka-Seltzer cure I read about on this web-site. It worked almost immediately! Thank you for supplying this useful information.
I recently had a uti that went from urgency to pain complete with blood in urine in less then 30 minutes. I immediately left work and went to purchase some alka seltzer. Took two tablets dissolved as instructed and drank it. It almost instantly relieved the pain, burning, and pressure I felt. It works!!!!!
I suffered from Urinary Tract Infection because my boyfriend and I kept passing it to each other. I read of Alka Seltzer to do the trick and Thank God ! I recently had an episode where I thought I had to urine and only a few drops of urine would exit and uh-oh! I started to feel the burn again-Alka Seltzer immediatly flushed it out.
Been having a terrible time with the UTI symptoms and same as everybody else doctors try one thing and then another. Finally found a good doctor who took a lab test for kidney, did not show anything major, just a slightly elevated creatinine, not considered anything to worry about. I give all the credit to the doctor for at least focusing on the cause of the problem. I read all about kidneys on my own, came across renal tubular acidosis (does not show a high BUN or creatinine) and the explanation and cure is very simple and it is highly treatable--just raise the pH to 7.5, but for awhile go on an 80%/20% alkaline to acid forming foods diet. After achieving proper balance maintain 60/40 alkalinity. Important thing, potassium citrate very important to work with calcium and to prevent kidney stones which can cause burning like uti. Only about a week and feeling much better. Hope this helps along with the other alkalizing remedies etc. people say are helping them.
I've had a reoccuring bladder "infection" for a month. My tests came out negative for an infection and show to be yeast related. I suffer from chronic candidiasis with systemic symptoms. My pain is fine during the day but in my sleep my body goes acidic very quickly and I painfully wake at least 2x per night to pee. The things I find most helpful for pain releif are listed below...
Eat lots of Celery and cucumbers! Very alkaline, and helps releive pain w/in 20minutes. Drink lots of water to flush out your system. Eat all vegetables (be creative, yes asparagus helps too) with no meat proteins and use generous amounts of ACV along with EV olive oil or my choice, capryol (coconut oil). Oil of oregano helps a bit if you can stomach the awful taste. Oh yeah, NO SUGAR, carbs, or Dairy. Get unsweetend cranberry juice concentrate & mix a small amount with a glass of water, not the store brand juice.
Try replacing milk with Almond milk and a tiny bit of Stevia sweetener with some cinnammon...mmm.
Alkaline diets will help with the pain and if your problem is related to yeast, it helps prevent an overgrowth of the fungus. There are plenty of websites with lists of alkaline/acidic foods. Check em out.
Hope this helps!
Question - 3 different occasions (2 at my Dr. office and once at home)I took a test with test strips to determined a UTI and they all came back positive. My Dr. has recently had my urine cultured but it came back negative.
HISTORY*** May 12,09 I got a UTI, not diagnosed by a Dr. but by knowing what it feels like. So, I started with an over the counter cranberry med. that has worked for me in the past. After a couple of days the UTI felt better but it was obvious I still had it. I then added pure cranberry juice to the remedy but that did not change a thing. I read on this website to try apple cider vinegar, so I started with the pill form ( I can not drink it) again it felt better but still did not cure the UTI. I then went to my Dr. 7 Jun 09. That is when I was tested for the first time at the Dr. office and the test came back positive. The Dr. put me on a 7 day antibiotics at the end of the 7 days I still had the UTI. Thinking it was all in my mind, 2 days later I took an over-the-counter UTI test and it came back positive. I then made an appt with my Dr. once again, the Dr. took another UTI test and it came back positive and started my on a 10 day antibiotic. In the mean time the Dr. had my urine cultured and to our surprise it came back NEGATIVE. I am still having pain and AT A LOSS!! CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME?
I am suffering from recurrent UTIs, probably the aftermath of some antibiotics I have had to use not too long ago after surgery.
Anyways, I had felt some mild burning since a few days already, but only today the pain and need to pee every two minutes, hit me plus tinges of blood when wiping - it was not looking good, and I knew I needed to do something ASAP to try and eliminate the infection, or else it would be off to the ER.
First thing I did, was, heating up some water and pouring it in a small cooking pan, and adding some ACV (I did not measure it - just poured some in). Then, I wrapped my lower body in a big towel and sat over the pot on the floor, to allow the ACV/water steam to penetrate my nether regions. I do not have a tub, so this was the next best thing to a sitzbath. I felt relief almost immediately, though the urge to pee still remained. Hence, after the steam procedure, I took a small teaspoon of organic baking soda, and mixed it in a glass of water and drank this. Now, 30 min later, I feel so much better!!!
I prepped myself another glass of the water and baking soda mix, and will keep it next to my bed to sip on should I wake during the night.
I have not given this treatment 5 stars yet, as I still have to see how I will feel in the morning, but if I continue to feel better (and I will def repeat the steam procedure and water/ baking soda drinks for a bit), then this is an amazing home remedy. Thank you all for sharing!
After experiencing sleepless nights owing to UTI urgent bathroom visits even after days of antibios - found baking soda in water and organic apple cider vinegar in water suggestions. First I tried them separately because couldn't imagine them together. Two tbls. ACV in 8 oz water. One tsp. baking soda in 8 oz water. Each 2x a day. Bladder cramping stopped after a few hours after waking and each subsequent slept longer without bathroom visits. Finally, tried 1/2tsp. baking soda in 2 tbls. ACV(organic) in 8 oz. water and was delighted to find it was not salty or vinegary but like an unsweetened mildly carbonated soda. I was planning on using Stevia if necessary but it wasn't needed at all.
I don't know about arthritis, constipation, or blood pressure but the UTI is under control. I was literally losing my mind from lack of sleep and discomfort even with 10 days of antibios. It was the BS and ACV in water 2-3x a day that made the difference. First, separately and now together. I intend to continue this as part of my diet forever.
I'm a 67 year old male who had ignored a urinary tract discomfort until it woke me up at 2:30 with acute pain. I read about the apple cider vinegar and baking soda cure, and went for it with 2 Tbs. of vinegar and the touch of baking soda. Back in bed it felt as if my whole body were being alkalized. After continuing with the treatment for 3 days, all the symptoms have gone, and I am grateful to this site for it's simple, effective wisdom.
Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda cleared my UTI infection. I had two urine tests done before I started taking it and it showed that I had a UTI. Went here on earth clinic to search up remedies and started taking two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar mixed with 1/4 baking soda in a full glass of water. I did this 2 times a day after meals... I wanted to do it 3 times but I didnt want to drink after 6 pm (because I would be urinating all night). I did this remedy for 4 days. I went to another doctor to take a urine test and they called me to tell me that my test came back negative! Which means my urine was normal! Oh my god, I was so happy!! So it really does work! I'll keep you updated because I still had an appointment so see a Urologist so i'm going to double check one more time with him which is good. So please, try this remedy - it is AMAZING. Thank you earth clinic!
Thank you for this site! I don't take any prescription medicines unless absolutely necessary (pain med for tooth extraction - only needed it for one day), so I really didn't want to have to do antibiotics for a bladder infection. I was having painful urination, and there was mild discomfort before and afterward.
I tried the baking soda in the morning and noticed that my frequency cut down first, from an hour to two hours between bathroom visits. By that afternoon the discomfort that stayed with me after a "visit" had diminished. I took another dose in the afternoon, and this morning there are no symptoms at all! I can imagine the acidity in my system came from too many desserts. I'd also had a shot of ACV mixed with lemon juice, water, and Stevia after something sweet yesterday, to keep my blood sugar from rising. I hadn't been doing that for a while.
Today, I'll continue both, since I've seen sites since then that said to mix the two. I'll rinse with water afterwards, (to protect tooth enamel), and skip two days after 5 days, as suggested on one of these sites. I need to make sure my ph level is more alkaline.
Thanks, Earth Clinic, for having such a great place to go for natural remedies. I'm adding you to my favorites bar!!
Better But With Side Effects
Warning: ACV and Baking Soda for UTI. I woke up and realized I was getting a UTI this morning so I came to EC site to find out what I could do without having to use antibiotics. I saw all the positive responses for ACV so I tried that. I put 2 tbsp into to 2 cups of water and drank it down. 20 minutes later I was still in pain so tried again; 2 tbsp ACV in 2 cups water. 40 minutes went by, nothing. Then read that some had needed to add baking soda to the mix. So I put another tbsp of ACV and mixed with 1 tbsp baking soda. In less than 15 minutes the pain had subsided. However, shortly after started having watery diarrhea. I had read in another persons post that people who are experiencing stomach problems should be careful with the ACV/baking soda mixture because it can act as a laxative, but for some reason didn't pay attention. Well, my stomach has been touchy lately and this definitely made it worse. It helps with the infection, but may cause other problems. I don't recommend this cure to someone with stomach issues.
