[YEA] Patricia from Denver, Co writes: "I went to a doctor for bells palsy and he said the only thing he could do was give me a steroid shot which did nothing. Days later I went to an accupuncturist who told me she had good results with this condition, but it may take several sessions. I must have been lucky because I had one session and my face was completely back to normal. Accupuncture is wonderful for many things.

[YEA] Linda from Ossining, New York writes: "Bells Palsy is a calcium deficeincy. I have now had 8 peoples faces back to normal in 2 weeks by giving them oral spray calcium. Number 9 is trying it now. I don't know if calcium pills would help as quickly but it has to work over the long run. The spray is sprayed on the inside of the cheeks, 6 sprays twice a day, for two weeks. I did find that one friend that had contracted it 4 years before, it didn't help but the other 8 started it within a week of the symtoms starting and all were back to normal in 2 weeks.

Bpg from San Francisco, Ca writes: "Hi, I had Bells Palsy twice, once when I was 9 months old and again when I was 6. It went away, but left my right side of my mouth a little turned down, my eye smaller than my left.

I am now 52 and have had times, especially when stressed or tired, that I have a lump next to my mouth, below my cheek. Lately in social situations, when drinking some wine and being tired, people ask me what is wrong. I am wishing to do something about it and trying to see if minor plastic surgery will help. I am nervous that it might cause more nerve damage. My face is extremely puffy, especially on my right side. Does anyone have this problem with one spot and have ideas to deal with it? I try to do the BP exercises, but seem to notice my face getting more heavy and my ear full.

K from Chattanooga, Tn writes: "Hello. I had bell's palsy when I was 15. The whole right side of my face drooped as if I had a stroke. I couldn't eat or drink without stuff falling out of my mouth because I only had control of half of it. My right eyelid sagged so low that I could barely see out of it.

My dad took me to a clinic that gave me an I.V. Drip of something that made it go away after about 4 treatments. (I was afraid to ask what it was because I'm terrified of needles, sorry! ) However, I'm 26 now and it left some nerves damaged, or they grew back incorrectly, because whenever I smile, my right eye closes involuntarily. Does anyone know how to reverse nerve damage from bell's palsy?"

[SIDE EFFECTS] Karen from Gillette, Wy writes: "I awoke about a year ago with one side of my face severely swollen and paralyzed. My ear was bothering me and I thought it was just a very bad ear infection. When I went to my doctor he said I had Bells Palsy and it should go away in a few weeks to months. He also asked if I had been in an accident. After three months of getting no better, I went to my chiropractor and she took xrays stating that I had been in an accident. I thougth car wreck when I heard that and insisted that "no" I had not been in an accident. She showed me the xray showing whip lash. I thought about it and recalled that 2 days before I woke up swollen my daughter had been swinging her arms as we walked through the park.. she caught my chin and in one swoop my teeth hit together hard. She saw what she had done and began crying. I checked my teeth then forgot about it.. trying to console her. I had no pain, no apparent cracked teeth and no bleeding.. so I forgot about it until I saw that I had pain free whiplash: I had asked my doctor if a neglected tooth could've caused my problem.. I also asked my dentist.. they both said "no." I had the tooth in question fixed after 3 months of looking like a monster. My face "centered" within hours. again.. no pain at all. the root canal failed in 2 months.. I still had a palsy.. long story short, for a year I had to go into the dentist and convince him that I had a fracture in a tooth.. 5 teeth were removed as a root canal does not hold in a cracked root. I also went to Quantum Energetics and discovered some bone toxins from my bouts with the cracked roots that apparently do not show up on dental x rays but DO cause a seepage of infection. After the last tooth and QE and a year, I now have most of my smile back. I spent a year looking like a monster and paying repeatedly for dentist visits to convince them I needed my teeth pulled.. each time that was the only thing that made me better. Now I know that a cracked root is something they cannot see.. .a tooth problem contrary to what they told me CAN cause Bells Palsy and I probably would've become very very sick from all the dental poisons had I not done my own research and insisted on what needed to be done.

Please ascertain that your "Bells Palsy" is not from a dental problem.. also check for lyme disease and try a natural antiviral.. I hate that anyone else is suffering as I did.. it's hurtful.

David from London, Ontario writes: "Bells Palsy: On the day after I returned from Cyprus, I woke up with it. It felt like a cheap soap had tightened my skin, but on the muscles on my face. I couldn`t move the right side of my face, like someone had drawn a line down my nose and from then on, nothing! I went to the base doctor, and was told I had bells palsy...that they did not know the cause, and there was no cure for it. My life took a drastic change for obvious social reasons. I guess I spent about the next three or so years without being very social at all. It did a lot to my self image for sure. Many years later on tv, I saw a lady that had the same thing. One thing to remember about this for those that have it....

Today, though I never got any cure, and years later it became less severe, I have discovered the lack of wrinkles over the entire right side of my face, which seems to confuse people in judging my age! I read a little on your site which I`ll read more of later, but I just wanted to get this off my chest. Today I still have no actual cause or cure, and my right eye tends to water when food has a strong flavour. Best regards, David."

[YEA] Virginia from Cushing, OK writes: "I successfully used castor oil packs for Bells Palsy which my co- worker contracted. I was beginning to have double vision and my eyes were inflamed. I used the pack on both eyes one hour nightly for 3 nights but the directions called for 4 nights. Well, I got busy and didn\'t do the 4th night and the symptoms returned until I completed the 4 nights in a row...No more problem at all.

Also, for me the packs are a great pain reliever. I used just the castor oil right on my cheek when I had an infected tooth. Still had to go to a dentist but CO stopped the pain immediately!

Also, used it to remove a wart on my son\'s toe. Each night applied CO put a sock on him until the wart was gone which was less than a week.

[WARNING!] Scott from Pen Argyl, PA writes: "Be careful about Manganese -- it can cause symptoms of Parkinsons\' Disease or Bells Palsy. I was taking a number of supplements that included manganese. The muscles on the right side of my face started to go slack and I was unable to use my mouth effectively. I thought I was having a stroke. Luckily I had a friend over who took me to the emergency room. I was diagnosed with Bells Palsy. It was supposed to go away within 1-2 months. It persisted for \"7\" months. I ran across something on the interment stating that overdosing on manganese can cause Parkinson\'s type symptoms. After checking the supplements I was taking I found that I was taking roughly 600 to 800 times the daily recommended allowance of this mineral. After I threw out these supplements my Bells started to clear up. If you have any similar type symptoms check what you\'re taking and eliminate those with manganese."
