ELIMINATE DAIRY

2 YEA

[YEA]  02/18/2007: Chris from Atlanta writes: "Had crazy making lower back pain from age 14(!) to 25 when finally my new therapist told me to go off dairy and give it a chance for only 3 weeks. I gave it a chance although my "diet" up to then was probably made out of up to 60% dairy products. after 3 weeks my back pain was COMPLETELY GONE! dairy sucks!!!"

[YEA]  07/20/2009: Boblack from Germantown, MD replies: "I have experienced bad back pain ever since junior year of high school where during a heavy lifting session I injured my back. After spending a lot of money on drugs and physical therapists, I can truly say nothing works better than just eliminating diary from my diet, sleeping on the floor, and doing several ab exercises. I have been doing these three things for the last two months and have noticed a significant reduction in my lower back pain. For those of you who complain they can enjoy the favorite breakfast foods without milk I suggest trying rice or soy milk or If you don't care like me just use water."

03/30/2010: Oly from London, United Kingdom replies: "I am a 53 years old woman I was diagnosed with lumber prolapse about two years ago and have been living with pain on my back as well sciatica pain down to my legs. I came to this site in my quest for cure or management. Please can anyone tell me what I can do to get rid of this pain. I have spent money visiting chiropractors, chinese acunpuncture and massage, several heat pads and regular pain killers which does not have effect. Please help god bless you

Oly"

03/31/2010: Phil from Dearing, Ga replies: "Hello Oly, You stated you have seen chiropractors for your condition. Well in my opinion there is only one type of chiropractor that actually works... The practice you will be looking for is called the GONSTEAD.

Ask your chiropractor what method he or she uses. Find one that does the Gonstead method. The older the chiropractor usally the better.

You can research it yourself using Google, But there is a big difference in the Gonstead method and other chiropractor treatments. If a Gonstead practicing chiropractor can't fix you, then it may be DDD.

There is also some stuff on here already under the Ailments section but one thing that comes to mind is magnesium. I believe Ted, somewhere on here recommended magnesium for back related issues. The key in the magnesium seems to be its ability to make the muscles stregthen add hold the bones in thier proper places.

Stretches and stregthen the Ab muscle will also help.

My chiropractor told me the Key to a healthy back, Is a strong core ( Midsection of a person )

Ab muscles equals strong back.

I hope you DO NOT have degenerative disc disease, because my mother had sciatica problems and found out she had DDD. She had to have surgery and has never fully recovered. Her bones never fused back together. It has been two years now."

03/31/2010: Phil from Dearing, Ga replies: "Oh and Oly, NEVER EVER use heat pads instead always use ice packs.

My father always believed in heat, But again My chiropractor always told me to never use HEAT. Heat can temporally paralyze you. Make your condition worse... You want to Ice for 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off, repeated for maybe say an hour."

HEEL LIFTS

1 YEA

[YEA]  05/06/2009: Handyman from Jonesborough, Tenneessee writes: "Hi for my back, I was told this by my doc....An I quote he say I will tell you what is wrong with your back in 20 minutes. WOW I thought. ( 1st let me tell you about him, he is old school, he is 75 yrs young...lol) Any way he took ex-rays, on my lower back an legs an show me on my legs, he put a ruler on the ex-rays an showed me that one leg was almost 1/4 inch shorter than the other, an wrote a script to go to the leather shop an make me a lift out of leather. (about the middle of the foot to the heal, an slipped in under my shoe liner) Well that day I ask him, how come other doc's did not know this an he said......O Mitch they did know, that it would put them out of business, he said that the doc would send you home, WITH DRUGS, an come back next week, for a check up. (PAID HIM TWICE). Also he said that the Chiropractor would like me to keep coming back all the time so they could make alot of money. So then I ask him how is it that one leg is shorter than the other, an he told me that most people have that problem, cause as you are growing, you most of the time carry everything on one side. (exsample If you are RIGHT HANDED that the right leg would be shorter.......now this made sense to me cause I am LEFT HANDED an my left leg WAS shorter than the other. PRETTY SMART HUH well it made sense to me. Needless to say my back was much better, an has been for yrs, hardly ever any pain unless I over do it. An o did i tell you that I was in terrible pain for 11 yrs, an I seen all kind of doctors, also 4 chiroprators. My doc told me no offence to you but I would just like to see you only twice a year for your check ups. Great doctor huh! Well I hope this info my help some one out, it worked for me. I really like this site."

EC: I heard the same thing from my friend, an Osteopath in NYC. The heel lift apparently helps right away!

HOMEOPATHIC REMEDY SYMPHYTUM

1 SIDE EFFECT

[SIDE EFFECTS]  09/18/2009: Shobha from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India writes: "My sister has scoliosis and slipped disc. Under Ayurveda treatment, she had recovered about 60%, when unfortunately, she took a homeopathy medicine called symphytum for about 10 days. An area on her spine became inflamed and is now causing her burning, pricking pain. She also experiences shooting pain down her legs, now and then. Apart from the spine, the buring sensation is felt also in the middle of her palms and soles. She is under allopathic treatment, now. The MRI shows compression of nerve due to the scoliosis and the slipped disc. She has just started the allopathy tablets now and though there is some relief, she is still in pain. I suppose a longer period is needed for the effect of the tablets to manifest. In the meantime, can someone suggest some simple remedy to remove this burning pain and inflammation, naturally? Thanks a lot."

MAGNESIUM

2 YEA

[YEA]  06/12/2009: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand writes: "I have a direct feedback from a couple of users of Inversion table for their back problems, while it goes away rather quickly it keeps coming back. The maximum time in reducing the problem is 4 days and then it comes again. It's no permanent solution otherwise they had to go to the hospital again and again or had to buy the machine. That's not the CAUSE of the problem. The problem is the muscles pull on the back along with the usual weight problem, but it's always the excess calcium in the muscle tissue and the nerves that causes the muscle pull back and "contract" causing a back problem. If it happens long enough it can cause spinal "compression".. To reverse this and see the result significantly is to just take the magnesium supplements. Not just any magnesium supplement, but the water soluble kind. The worse magnesium supplements I have ever seen is sold in most drug store, and if I read their ingredient, it's mostly worthless, such as magnesium phosphate, magnesium oxide and magnesium carbonate. These have very poor water solubility and is not bioavailable. Whenever the added wax on top of that to keep the tablets in nice form, they also block the absorption such as mangesium stearate. The other thing that prevents magnesium from being utilized is the problem of calcium carbonate or any calcium that is mixed in the supplements.

The best form of magnesium I have found are magnesium chloride has the least of the problem and the magnesium gluconate. After taking them sa 100-250 mg the muscle pain will be reduced within 30 minutes and most is gone by the third or fourth day, including the back pain. The key to using these forms of magnesium is to dilute with plenty of water so it won't have the laxative effect and cannot be mixed with any alkaline preparations such as baking soda or citrates. The magnesium is taken solo. One simple way to take it that I h ave used for the fastest acid reflux remedy is the magnesium solution at 60-80% plus distilled water at 20%-40% and prepare as a dropper where the dose is between 6-12 drops in a glass of water depending on your size the dose is adjusted accordingly. For example a person of 120 pounds will likely take 5 drops but a person twice that weight likely to take 10 drops in a glass of water. I prepare in dilutions such as this to prevent the laxative effect and hence greater magnesium absorption. This is the best of all remedies for most of the back pain problem I have noticed without the use of pain killers.

[YEA]  03/30/2008: Helen from Beirut, Lerbanon writes: "Thanks for earth clinic and for Ted, my daughter has Scoliosis and she is suffering from back pain ,I'm giving her Magnesium 250 mg daily ,since it stopped her pains she is taking 500 mg daily ,it cured her pains ,thanks Ted but I want to know if the dose is too much for her ,she is 13 years old."

04/01/2008: Joyce from Joelton, TN replies: "Response to Helen of Beirut, Lebanon 3/30/08:

Hi Helen, I'm not Ted but I can answer your question about the magnesium your daughter is taking. If she is getting too much magnesium it quickly lets you know because you get diarrhea from it and nobody needs a doctor to tell them when they have diarrhea, do they?

The lovely part of this is that magnensium has lots of function in the body and it is also one of the minerals our modern day junk/fast food diets leave us short on. To learn what this magnesium deficiency causes, I urge everyone to research EXCITOTOXINS on line and pay particular attention to anything from Russell Blaylock. James South also has a very informative and easy to follow on them.

The two major excitotoxins that our foods are laden with are monosodium glutamate and aspartame.

MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE AND ASPARTAME
ARE NOT JUST FOUND IN ASIAN STIR-FRIED FOODS.
They are found in all processed foods in all cultures.

We can protect ourselves from a lot of this by learning what names they hide them under (ingredients list) and leaving those on the grocery shelf. It is not possible to omit MSG found in our vaccines to protect us from things such as measles, mumps, polio, etc.

To protect ourselves and our families, we must also know some things that can block absorption of MSG and aspartame. Mike Adams interview (available on line) with Dr. Russell Blaylock is very informative and should be fairly easy to follow for most people. In this he mentions that a lot of monosodium glutamate damage to our brains are found to also be accompanied by a magnesium deficiency!
James South quotes a Dr. Mildred Seelig, a noted magnesium expert, calculated that a minimum of 8 mgms. of magnesium per kilogram of body weight are needed daily to prevent cellular magnesium deficiency (560 mgm day needed for l54 pound adult). Our Western world diets usually supplies only l75-275 mgm/day, about 1/2 of the amount needed.

Dr. Blaylock, in his interview with Mike Adams, also mentions other MSG blockers such as amino acids (leucine, isoleucine and lysine), silimarin, curcumin and ginkgo biloba, and most of the flavonoids.

Dr. Blaylock only talks about what excitotoxins do to the brain & central nervous system! Reading up on Metabolic Syndrome X (which orthox medicine now calls insulin resistance will tell you what these same excitotoxins do the rest of the body. Have fun reading.

So Helen, keep giving that daughter the magnesium to protect her from the above and don't worry about too much unless she develops diarrhea - if she does just reduce the amount."

04/02/2008: Helen from Beirut, Lerbanon replies: "Thanks Joyce for your reply it was very helpful to me, now I know she can take around 600 mg daily(she's over weight) ,I read all the report of Dr. Blaylock ,and I believe in all what he said , and I think everybody must read it, here is the link www.naturalnews.com/020550.html"

05/24/2007: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand writes: "Sometimes the sudden pain, from lower back (at least for me, which is more often than I care to recall) is due to a magnesium deficiency. If I take say 250 mg of magnesium chloride or other similar magnesium such as mangesium citrate or magnesium gluconate, the pain goes away completely on the third or fourth day. However most of the intolerable pain goes away in about 30 minutes to an hour. In case magnesium is not available, you can try sunflower seeds which contain some magnesium. But they take a lot longer to see results - sometimes more than a week."

04/03/2008: Joyce from Joeton, TN replies: "To Helen from Beirut,4/2/08:

Hello again Helen,

I am concerned that you might have just skipped over an importance point in that interview with Dr. Blaylock.

Please go back and read that again, taking special note of: "Now one of the things we are hearing a lot about is childhood obesity. One early observation with excitotoxicity is it makes animals grossly obese". We may be the higher order of animals but Dr. Blaylock tells us that we humans store much more of MSG & aspartame than other animals do. While Dr. Blaylock writes about the effects of these two on the brain, these 2 also cause a lot of other problems.

If you can find a copy of "The Carbohydrate Addict's Healthy Program" by Richard and Rachel Heller and Dr. Vagnini, it is an excellent source of what it does to other parts of the body. Fortunately the same major excitotoxins causing problems with the brain & central system are the same ones blamed for the problems mentioned in the above book. You can search Metabolic Syndrome X &/or Insulin Resistance and you can't help but realize that this is what the above book is about.

Since you said your daughter is overweight, I urge you to read up on this to keep your daughter from developing Diabetes Mellitus, type 2."

OIL PULLING

1 YEA

[YEA]  10/12/2009: Toomuchswagger from Atlanta, Ga writes: "Benefits of using Sesame Oil for Oil Pulling Therapy

I tried Sesame Oil after experiencing severe back pain from a tramatic injury to my tailbone and my coccyx bone became misaligned, which caused severe pain when I'm sitting down. I also have chronic knee pain, stomach pains, occasional headaches and an infection on the right side of my mouth. I began the oil pulling therapy on July 21, 2009 and after 3-4 weeks I saw a noticeable decrease in my back pain. I used to have difficulty being seated for periods longer than one hour and had horrible pain after riding in a car or driving for long distances. I have experienced such remarkable improvements in my results that I was able to drive from Georgia to Maryland with no pain in my back or my knee, 5 weeks after I began oil pulling therapy. I no longer have headaches or pain in my stomach. I have also noticed that the pain in my mouth is gone because the infection has obviously disappeared!! I feel absolutely wonderful that I am now pain-free and I have accomplished this without surgery or chemical drugs and medication. I am happy to say that my girlfriend and family members have now begun oil pulling therapy."

POTASSIUM

1 YEA

[YEA]  04/05/2010: Alfred from Bangkok, Thailand writes: "MY THEORY ON BACK PROBLEMS

IF MY Theory is correct, to repair back problems is simple.. My theory comes from reading a book written by C. SAMUEL WEST, D.N…N.D… TITLE OF BOOK… THE GOLDEN SEVEN PLUS ONE…

He talks about trapped proteins, and salt a poison.. Talks about our cells in our body.. when they are not healthy, we start dying..The body works on electrical current.. We can heal ourselves with the electricity that flows thru our bodies…. It would be easy if we could plug ourselves in someplace and get recharged. But not that easy.. We must eat proper balanced diet of food and exercise to keep our body generators going which is our cells. Yes, our small cells are generators.. they must always be in top shape to keep our body healthy..

Our cells are mostly potassium with a little salt.. the minute we eat too much salt it pushes the potassium out of the cells.. the body start to get sick..

Listen to this.. the bones in our back start falling apart.. Then you have back problems.. I really feel that most people that have back problems are very low in potassium. Like # 1 or 2.. which is a low potassium level…

The minute we cut out the salt.. the potassium make our cells healthy.. Then the bones in our back go back in place.. No more back problems.. When you take a physical.. how many of you ask for potassium test. If the numbers they give you are between 3-5.. your potassium level is normal, your generators (cells) are in good shape..I just finished a physical, when they took my blood ..I asked for a Potassium test. They said Why do you want that? How do you answer.. I said because I want to live for 200 years.. Well I got my test.. reading was 4.4 . Never had any back problems..

I could be all wet.. In my theory..So if you have a different idea, I would love to hear it.
Thanks for your time. And interest
Health #1
Alfred"

12/15/2008: April from Bonney Lake, WA writes: "Since herniating my low back on the job about a decade ago, I have experienced chronic pain, massive weight gain (130 lbs), depression, hair loss, and an overwhelming feeling of CHRONIC fatigue. No matter how many hours of sleep I get, when I wake up I feel like I have been repeatedly mowed over by a large truck. Name the supplement, I probably have it sitting on my kitchen counter; I've developed a "taste aversion" to any nutritional supplement. Swallowing vitamins can make me gag, even though I know they could possibly help.

As of today, I have had my second MRI and my condition is worsening. My disc is almost non-existent, herniated out both sides at L4-5. My other herniated disc, S1, is almost as bad. Extreme arthritis and disc degeneration is present. My ortho wants to give me nerve shots of steriods of some sort, under x-ray procedure, then perform surgery. Five years ago I had a microdiscectomy that relieved some of the leg pain. I've just come off of a week of Prednisone, and like clockwork, I've gained 10 more pounds!!!

Along with back pain, I'm also dealing with depression associated with my husband dying of ALS. This has put a double strain on my emotional and physical health.

I'm tired of trying things that do not work. I'm tired of being forced to take painkillers because it's the only form of relief I can get. I'm tired of being short, fat, and balding. Feeling 90 instead of a vibrant 42 is really a sorry state to be in, and at times the feeling of hopelessness is overwhelming. HELP!!!!!"

08/25/2009: April from Pleasant Grove, Ut replies: "April-

So sorry to hear about your hubby and all the health problems you're enduring. I wish I had the answer that is perfect for you- but I don't. I just wanted to let you and everyone who reads EarthClinic to know that even when it seems like no one has the answers- there's One who does... so maybe through PRAYER you'll find the peace you're searching for. God Bless you!"

08/26/2009: Andi from St. Paul, Mn replies: "Dear April, I suggest you look into non-surgical spinal decompression. My Chiropractor does it in her office. I've never had it done, but I know she has been able to help others a lot. It may not work for what you have, but it would sure be worth checking to see if someone in your area does the treatment. Good Luck!"

08/26/2009: Dj from Pdx, Or replies: "April,

I can tell you that the decompression absolutely works. I have been getting treatments for 2.5 weeks now. I had 2 bulging disks and a pinched nerve. The front of my right thigh was completely numb and there were a couple of days when all I could do was literally crawl to the bathroom and back to my bed. No standing, barely walking. I missed 4 days of work and only went back because I felt I had to. I worked mostly half days.

I tried acupuncture and massage and nothing was working. My massage therapist recommended me to a chiropractor who does the decompression. I was really leary at first and committed to only two of the five weeks he wanted. Obviously I am now committed to the full enchalada.

Today I have still have some pain at times and by the end of the week I am sore but I am walking and sitting longer. I can make dinner, I can drive. It is deffinately a must for anyone with back and neck issues.

No drugs. No shots. No surgery. Show up, get stretched a little ice for 20 minutes and then go home.

If you have medical leave at work take it. It is much easier to dedicate yourself to healing.

Good health.."

ROCKING SIDE-TO-SIDE

1 YEA

[YEA]  01/15/2010: Kelly from Cincinnati, Ohio writes: "A simple excercise to possibly help relieve back pain is upon awakening, either in your bed, or at your kitchen table, rock side-to-side until you feel relief. The length of time will depend on your condition. Oviously, of you have bp or balance issues, pay attention to how you are feeling. I've rocked like this for up to 10 min. with good results. I've done it later in the day as well. I really just did it instinctively as I had a job that was giving me back strain. Just laugh out loud and call it yoga if a family member tells you you look crazy. It worked for me!. I'm guessing it loosens the back muscles and gets blood where you need it. It probably will also help people who are too sedentary because it is no impact. God Bless!"

SLEEP ON THE FLOOR

1 YEA

[YEA]  06/17/2008: Jennie from Fort Wayne, Indiana writes: "I had chronic back aches for nearly 20 years until I began sleeping on the floor. It has been over two years now and my pain is greatly reduced. I will mention that it took a couple weeks to get my body completely used to it, and my hips hurt a bit from sleeping on my side on the floor. But after that first 2 weeks or so, I have felt great. (plus, it is much cooler in the summer time!)"

EC: We agree -- this is a fabulous cure for back aches!

STRETCHING

2 YEA

[YEA]  12/15/2008: Donald from Houston, Texas writes: "I have found that the best way to relieve lower back pain is to do early morning stretching. After one week of this simple exercise, lower back pain is gone:

1. Start by lying flat on your back on the floor or a hard flat surface.

2. Lift your right knee up and forward touching your chin or moving the knee as close as possible to the chin.

3. Hold you right knee up to your chin with both hands and stay in that position for at least 15 seconds.

4. Do the same thing with the left knee back and forth for about 20 minutes.

5. Relax the body and the lower back pain will be gone in a few days.

Blessings to you!"

[YEA]  12/05/2007: G. Michael from Reading, , PA writes: "The Lord is having me write a book on natural cures. I suffered with lower back pain for over 30 years. This was unnecessary suffering and occurred because I didn't know what I am about to tell you. Have you ever seen children with lower back pain? I haven't. Therefore, lower back pain is life-style induced, meaning the muscles that we used constantly in our youth simply atrophy and then one day our back goes out. We take pills or go to a chiropractor for relief. Chiropractors do a great job but if you spend about 5 minutes a day doing stretching exercises your back pain will vanish forever, unless you have a catastrophic injury. On the floor with a mat or on your bed you can do these exercises. Pull your knee to your chest, hold for ten seconds, then release. Repeat with the other knee. Next grab your leg above the knee and point your toes toward the ceiling, stretching your hamstring. Follow with the other hamstring. Doing your hamstrings is probably the most iomportant exercise in protecting your back. Next, pull both your knees together to your chest. Next, get on your hands and knees and do the catback, pulling your chin into your chest and arching your back like a cat. Next, lie on your stomach and act like your a sky-diver raising your arms and legs simultaneously. Next, get a chair and put both of your feet on the outside of the legs. Take both hands together and touch the floor with your fingertips next to your heel. Repeat with the other heel. Finally do some crunches-start off with 10 and increase to how many that you feel like doing Remember for all the exercises, except for the crunches, that you should hold each stretch for 10 seconds. All this takes about 5 minutes to do and if you do them faithfully you will find that your back pain will vanish. Praise The Lord! Once your back feels normal continue to do the exercises at least every other day for the rest of your life, or the same weaknesses will reappear and you will be back where you started."

SWEATING

1 YEA

[YEA]  07/16/2009: Vicky from Manila, Philippines writes: "Hi there, I just want to share that since I was born I can immediately had back pain because of my poor immune system but I naturally gained my full strenght when I became an athlete...But when I stop playing because of my work in office, no exercise, everyday is the thing that I must face and accept the pain in my back before I go to sleep. For now, even the weather is cold here and even I don't have time to go to gym, one thing effective that I usually do is when I get sweat.. It's true! Perspiration is the best remedy and cure for back pain because backpains maybe due to over fatigue at work, weather and that at times the pain will almost come accross the stomach that you'll feel that you want to vomit...the only thing you can do aside from massage is perspiration...drinking tea will also help."

TURMERIC

1 YEA

[YEA]  09/27/2008: Yahnah from Somecity, USA writes: "I had a car wreck and the MRI showed 2 discs bulging. I was informed to have surgery for this. I decided to go natural. AND IT WORKED! My prayers were answered. I began to take Tumeric in capsules about 8 or 10 at a time at my worst. It took my pain away. Every time I hurt I took more. Then the pain left. I did not want to be on a perscription because of the side effects. You can also put a teaspoon of tumeric in tomato juice for a great snappy tom kind of drink and fast relief.

I had another MRI a few years later and no disc bulge could be detected! Sometimes when under stress I feel some discomfort and I immediately take tumeric again and it is gone! I hope this helps someone."

Earlier yesterday, I put a Hot compress on my face, and drained that awful boil I knew from previous attempts that it could make it worse, But i went ahead and drained it, and used peroxide by noon I was swelled up pretty good, would you believe this morning the thing is Damn near cleared up, and my Back feels OK for the first time in months I'll follow up after a few days This morning I've made a Tea using the coffee maker I put two constant comment orange pekoe flavored green tea bags into a coffee filter along with a tablespoon of Turmeric powder, and a tablespoon of sugar The turmeric takes some getting used to but the Tea is simply wonderful hate to add sugar but i had too I'm having my second 12 oz cup of hot green Turmeric tea as I type"

[YEA]  03/26/2010: Deirdre from Atlanta, Ga, Usa writes: "I have linked an occasional sudden onset of lower back pain to my kidneys. I have discovered two things that will cause my lower back to suddenly start to ache.

1. Dehydration. I tend to drink a lot of caffeinated black tea during the day and probably not nearly enough water to make up for the dehydrating tea. Occasionally my lower back will start to ache if I've had too many cups of tea, which is my signal to hydrate quickly! If I drink several glasses of water over the course of an hour, my lower back pain will go away within an hour or two.

2. Certain supplements. I bought vitamin d3 made from lanolin last week and started back on 8,000 a day after throwing out my d-3 that contained cod liver oil (see my post on the vitamin d page). However, my kidneys aren't liking the lanolin! Again, a sudden onset of lower back pain about an hour after taking the d3. It took longer for my back pain to disappear this time. ... at least 12 hours or more with lots of water. I tested the supplements 3x, with a few days in between, and each time got back pain. Yikes! A good kidney cleanse is in order. Lisa, got any good juicing recipes for the kidneys?!"

03/26/2010: Lisa from Thousand Oaks, Ca, Usa replies: "Hi Deirdre,

Yes! Of course, you know me and the juicing! I am convinced it can turn anything around if it is done on a regular basis. So, the vegetables that will aid the kidneys are asparagus, celery, cucumber and parsley. I am not too picky about the combos of greens as I have now been juicing on a regular basis daily since Oct and so much has changed for me. Lots of energy, no need to nap in the afternoon or experience that LOW slump around 3pm, my skin is so smooth and some people say, "Wow your skin glows!", melasma gone from my face, a large mole in the corner of my right eye is now only the size of a pinhead, sleeping well... I could go on and on. My point is that with all the benefits it is easy for me to drink my big glass of green juice every morning and then feel all the cells in my body sing praise! Try a combo of celery/asparagus/parsley and add a lemon or an apple for flavor. We even forage in our yard for the wild dandelions that I used to think of as annoying and now bless them for how they heal my body. They are powerful liver detoxers.

Really, I urge everyone to give green juice a chance to help heal your body. It is powerful.

Peace,
Lisa"

03/26/2010: Phil from Dearing, Ga/usa replies: "Hi Deirdre!

I just wanted to mention Asparagus Exstract...

I'm not trying to promote a product, but the asparagus exstract is alot cheaper than buying fresh asparagus. The one I found is also Organic and each pack is the equal to a half pound of asparagus.

Google Aaparagus extract. The one I speak of comes from Dr. Chi.

Asparagus is suppose to be a natural kidney cleanser. so a couple packs of this in water a day, should help.I have tried this myself and it does seem when I drank it. My urine is a little more cloudy at first and you can smell the asparagus in it.....

It also stays around alot longer than fresh asparagus. You don't have to worry about it rotting or not being able to get your hands on fresh asparagus.

By the way, any luck using that Grapefruit Seed Exstract for the nails???

Oh and cranberry juice is very good for the kidneys, although it is very hard to find pure cranberry juice. My wife recently had a urineary tract infection and the cranberry juice I purchased said 100% juice ( Only to find out it had apple and pear added ) Seem to help alot.

I guess one shoe does not fit all, but we never know if it is right for us until we try it.

I have found one company that has the Asparagus exstract cheaper than anyone else and she will send you a free magazine on natural remedy protocols. It has lots of great stuff in it.

Yes, of course this lady sales products to people, but you could take her information and your own natural remedies from the place of your choice.

So in other words, you are not under any obligation to purchase any thing, just because you get a free magazine. www.herbalhealer.com

I hope this helps!

Thank you,
Phil"

03/31/2010: Janice from Coloma, Mi replies: "Lisa, what type of juicer do you use? I purchased a juicer from a friend and my husband and I have been juicing every morning, but my juicer doesn't do leafy greens like parsley."

03/31/2010: Deirdre from Atlanta, Ga, Usa replies: "Dear Phil and Lisa,

Thank you so much for your great feedback on kidney cleansing.

Phil, I had already emailed myself a note from one of your previous posts to get some asparagus extract the next time I need to order supplements. Sounds great! Oh, I will send in another post shortly with an update about GSE for nail fungus.

Lisa, I got your ingredients yesterday at the grocery store and made a large juice of asparagus, parsley, celery and an apple. It was delicious! Very energizing, you are right about that. I made a second juice in the evening of my typical green lemonade ingredients... apple, ginger, kale, romaine, lemon. The juicing appears to have a very potent cleansing effect today if you know what I mean! The glowing effect the juice has on my skin is amazing.

Now that the weather is warming up here in GA, I am much more inclined to juice. My body simply rejects it in the cold winter months.

Many thanks again to both of you!

Deirdre"

03/31/2010: Lisa from Thousand Oaks, Ca, Usa replies: "Hi Janice,

We have a Breville and not the high end one. When I decided I wanted to go the route of juicing and raw, I wasn't sure how committed I would be with it and it really was experimental to see if there would be any changes. It was only $99 which of course is the low end of juicers really. I didn't and couldn't invest the money on a really cadillac-type but, I figured it was better than nothing at all! As David Wolfe often says when asked, "The best juicer is the one you have sitting on the back shelf!" At any rate, I love this thing! It's easy to clean and does a great job. I don't recall where I learned this tip since I'm constantly researching and studying new sites for tips in juicing and rawfood. The tip was, if you only have a centrifugal juicer then, take the leafy greens and roll them up tightly to put into the feeder. In between, use harder veggies to clear the greens from the blades such as carrot, celery, beet, etc. It really works! We juice parsley, cilantro, dandelion, kale, chard, etc. Perhaps if we had a high end juicer then we would get more juice from the greens but hey, it's working for us and I have my health back! Hallelujah! I have watched people on youtube get very creative who don't have the money to invest but want to juice. I love that- the desire to find health makes people get very ingenious.

So, give that a try. The key is to keep it all tight. I hope this helps you and you succeed.
To your health, Lisa"

EC: We also use a Breville... stainlesss steel version. It's fantastic! We bought a re-manufactured one on Amazon and paid about $175 for it (vs $275 for a new one). We had to return the first juicer to Amazon as the on/off button got stuck after 2 weeks, but the second one they sent us has been running perfectly for at least two years now.

Deirdre

04/01/2010: Janice from Coloma, Mi replies: "Thanks Lisa and Deirdre. I bought an Acme for $50 bucks from a friend. I wasn't sure how often I would use it and didn't want to spend a lot of money. It's been a really great machine. It has a really strong motor and it's all stainless steel. I have used it almost every day since I've gotten it. I'll be sure to try rolling up the leafy greens and see if that works. I hope so. Thanks again."

04/05/2010: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "I bought an Oscar last December after doing quite a bit of research. It works very well and as it is a masticating juicer the juices are "alive", have a great color and taste even after a few hours in the fridge just the machine has a quite a problem because when you juice fruit and vegetables with much juice it goes right into the place where the auger fits into the motor, not good if you ask me and a bother to clean. Other than that if we are at home we drink juices every day!"

[YEA]  01/07/2010: Mark Dewitt from Cincinnati, Oh writes: "I had severe back pain years ago. When standing up from a seated position, I could only do so very gingerly. If I were walking my back would give out and I would go down on my knees.

Part of my job is interviewing authors when they are in town for a radio station and pod casts.

One day there was a book that came in the mail that was called Your Bodies Many Cries For Water written by Dr Batmanglelde. His book was a lifesaver for my back and he has an interesting story.

I increased my water intake and this worked a miracle on my back. It is not an instant cure like many on this web site but this really works.

Be sure to take your 8 glasses of water or more for great results"
