[YEA]  02/11/2010: Felista from Las Vegas, Nv, Usa: "My dad has been suffering with arthritis of the lower spine and gout for 20 years. After eating a large amount of guacamole during football season, he noticed his pain was absent. After reading about the benefits of avocado, he began eating them regularly. Safe effect. For the past 10 years, he has been eating an avocado a day, and it has so much improved his back pain that he is able to jog at least 3 miles every day at 75. Fifteen years ago, the arthritis was so bad that he could no sit or walk without terrible pain. He wanted me to share that as long as he eats an avocado a day, his arthritis is kept at bay. He cures his gout with raspberries and cherries, fresh and also juiced.

Please, please share this information. My dad also tried ACV, but it did not help him with his lower back arthritis as much as the avocado has. For him, it is a miracle. Now that my mom is getting arthritis in her hips, she has started eating avocado too with the same results.

For those worried about the richness of avocados: If you eat a balanced, reasonable diet, you should not worry about the fat in Avocados. It is a good fat."

BETTER BUT NOT CURED

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  05/06/2012: Gordon from Sunderland, Tyne : "hi, just wanted to relate my experience with bicarbs. I have had problems with my knees (a stabing pain under the kneecap) and feet (cramps and tenderness in the balls of feet) for years and used a number of alternatives to help with little or no effect.

After some research on the net I was directed to some info that pointed to an acidic body could be the cause and bicarbs was the treatment so I tried it. The effects were immediate and lasting (for a short while anyway) I have stopped and started my own treatment and the problem surfaces again.

I realise that there is damage in my knees so am waiting for my body to heal as I give it the right conditions by alkalising my body. It seems to be working as my knees feel better but not completely healed, yet. It seems that the problem could be a fungus (candida) but there does not seem to be a quick cure for that, but bicarbs does fight/combat and give my body the chance to heal.

I wondered if anyone else has used or heard of anyone using bicarbs to combat fungus or arthritis."

Replies
05/06/2012: Bill from San Fernando, Philippines replies: "Hi Gordon... Bicarbs and alkalizing will certainly help but borax is the main cure for arthritis. Arthritis is normally caused by mycobacteria and other associated bacteria. Mycobacteria are bacteria with no cell wall that have fungal-like behaviour. Borax is the ultimate fungal killer. So the best solution is just to take borax in higher dose as recommended on this site together with magnesium oil (60% magnesium chloride and 40% water) which you can just rub into the troublesome area for transdermal absorbtion.

Here is an interesting bit of research about arthritis and the use of borax or sodium tetraborate:

Blackstrap Molasses Recipe for Arthritis

Home Remedy Ingredients

  • Unsulphured Blackstrap Molasses - 1 Tablespoon

Take (cumulatively) a tablespoon of blackstrap molasses daily (not the typical stuff from the grocery store). Vitamins and minerals in the molasses (including copper and iron) could be the reason many people have found relief from arthritis pain with daily blackstrap molasses supplementation. Can be mixed with coffee or other foods and beverages.

[YEA]  05/29/2008: Joyce from Chippewa Lake, Ohio: "Since I started taking 1 TBS of Blackstrap molasses each morning, I am no longer plagued with intense arthritis pain in my knee. Some times I feel a little pain once in bed for the night, and get up and take another tablespoon, and this pain subsides within 20 minutes, as if I had taken a pain pill. I'm a believer in it."

[YEA]  05/22/2008: Joyce from Chippewa Lake, Ohio: "I saw one comment from someone on blackstrap molasses for arthritis. I had been up every night in pain, particularly in one knee. The first day I ate 1 Tbs. of blackstrap molasses, and the pain was completely gone. I take it every day. If I go to bed and have a little pain in my knee, instead of pain medicine, I have another Tbs. of the molasses, and the pain subsides in 20 minutes. My uncle was a chiropractor who was into holistic medicine, and use to tell us that there are many benefits of Blackstrap molasses."

[YEA]  10/12/2005: Gwynne from Johannesburg, South Africa: "Jan asked if anyone else knew about black strap molosses - the best molosses to use is the Crude Black Strap Molasses - Book to get on Molasses is Cyril Scott ISBN 0 7225 0241 9."

[YEA]  Jan : "Two weeks of two tablespoons each morning have reduced the arthritic pain in my knees. Does anyone else have knowledge of black strap molasses working on arthritis?"

04/07/2010: Holland from Nescopeck, Pa replies: "I would imagine that most people here would take this for granted but I just thought I'd input this. I had a very good natural foods health consultant tell me that Blackstrap is VERY good for you in a variety of ways, it is what has helped my arthritis for the last 3 years, however, be sure you brush your teeth or rinse your mouth with a mouthwash immediately after consuming it by the teaspoon or adding it to a morning power shake. The bottom line is that it will rot your teeth with even more aggression than sugar does if you continue using it and not being sensitive to this issue. Here is just one of hundreds of testimonials to the life-enhancing benefits and it's one minor drawback.

Bloodroot

[YEA]  02/08/2009: Monica from Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA: "Blood Root Salve which I am buying from someone who will not tell me who she buys from nor will she tell me the exact ingredients. My husband died of cancer which first started as small spots on his penis. He heard about blood root and bought the salve but it was so painful that he could not stand using it and went in the conventional methods.

I noticed some very weird spots all over my face and tried some of his salve. It attacked the spots and took almost half my lip off in the process, which has grown back totally. I found more spots on my back and it is removing them with silver dollar size black scabs, raised about half an inch of the skin. I am convinced that since the skin grows back with no scar, that this salve also stimulates the adult stem cells and gets them to repair the damaged areas. I have terrible arthritis and two hip replacements. I am putting this, diluted with vaseline on and around my knee joints and the pain seems to be going away. I think it might be rebuilding my knee. I also had a head injury which knocked out my short term memory. I am gaining full brain function back. I am also taking a small amount of this internally. A friend of mine started using it to cure headaches and he noticed that his brain was unusually sharp when attempting to do extremely difficult tasks.

My husband and I and our dog set up a machine shop in the cellar of an old cow killing plant, where the hides had been cured. I figure he, I, and also the dog, got cancer after hanging out there for three years and breathing the dust etc. My dog has some kind of cancer in her breathing tubes, I am giving her bloodroot also. I can see small pieces of cancer coming out of my body in my shits. Also from the dog. I am convinced if my husband had been able to withstand the pain and just used the bloodroot salve both externally and internally he would still be alive.

I would like to obtain a recipe to make the salve which can also be ingested and I would like to start growing bloodroot, and all the other plants which go into making it. I would like to make it available at a more reasonable price to whoever needs it. If anyone knows a good way to make it please let me know."

It is a spring ephemeral - meaning that it comes up early in the spring and then disappears. Beautiful little plant. It likes cool northern woods. It is one of the herbs I plan to gather next spring. I understand it is very strong. I look forward to getting to know it."

Borax

04/11/2012: Eveline from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada: "Hello, I wonder if someone could answer me why the borax in water should only be taken 5 x per week. I have been putting it in my water along with xylitol but nothing seems to be helping me. I'm awaiting the arrival of the book Conquering Arthritis by Barbara Allen. She was in a wheelchair and now runs marathons. I thought I was doing everything right but have been in big flare up for several months now, since a car accident and it is getting worse by the day, it seems. Thanks"

04/11/2012: Gavin from Manganui, Northland, New Zealand replies: "As a suggestion take some root ginger with turmeric, this seems to have a good effect and help with the pain..

I think boron needs to be taken with a good diet of all the essential elements.. If you're deficient in Boron you are probably deficient in all of them. As they all work together, it might be a thing to look at."

02/03/2013: Happy Horse Hunter from Nyc, Ny replies: "Hey, I think the other person is probably right. There is a horse lady by the name of Pat Coleby who was seemingly curing horses of arthritis; even the ones whose legs started to bend. She mentioned using boron, but also vitamin A, D, apple cider vinegar, reducing phosphate grains, supplying the horse with alfalfa and other things. I originally threw out the whole apple cider theory but once the pain started kicking in, I was willing to try anything. All I had was the old junky stuff from the regular supermarket but I tried it yesterday and I noticed a big enough difference to ask my husband to go get the stuff with the mother in it today. I am feeling less pain and this huge fatigue that I was feeling for weeks lifted. I thought I was depressed from this fight with R.A. or just lazy! Most of my findings on the internet lead me right back to what Ms. Coleby stated about horse care. When horse nutrionists speak, I make it a point to listen. A lot gets invested into horses nutrionally and I want to benefit from everything that I can possibly apply to myself. Ms. Coleby is a quick google away! Blessings and wishing you a pain free day... Forget that, wishing you a pain free existence! Oh, I am studying everything I possibly can and I noticed that the sun (or the lack thereof) in NYC this time of year gives me Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D), I noticed that of the last couple of years, which made me think that my vitamin D levels were dropping drastically---I am a housewife and now spend much of my working day in the house-no gardening, mowing the lawn, jogging etc this time of year. These last couple of years I also noticed that I've had my first 2 flares. There could possibly be a correlation. Remember that vitamin d is more than just a vitamin it acts like a hormone in the body. I have also read a couple times that when women get pregnant they go into remission sometimes, that's probably a hormone thing too. I happen to personally know that I have a high amt of the hormone prolactin in me (never pregnant) and perhaps that also makes me susceptible, but I don't know. I am just throwing a few different things out there because something may click for someone or maybe someone can take a part and run with it. These modern Dr.s aren't doing for us what we want them to. We don't want their big pharma drugs anymore we want to be cured and it seems like we are our own greatest support and asset; each other and sites like this! Cheers to your good health!"

07/15/2011: Bill from San Fernando , Philippines: "Hi Everyone... Here is a research paper by Dr Rex Newham, an Australian botanist and his own quest to discover the cure for his own arthritis at age 35 in the 70s and 80s. This is a demographic nutritional study, worldwide, which contains some very interesting facts and statistics about the demographic distribution of borax or boron in the soil. He also allays any poison fears about borax. He also gives good reasons why most modern soils today lack boron or borax in the food chain.

Boron

04/22/2012: Elvisabeth from Harriman, Tn, Usa: "Regarding arthritis & boron: My upper forearms (lower arm muscles) hurt badlly. I suspect arthritis because both arms are affected, although my right arm is more noticeable. I am 53 years old. I have begun taking celery seed and boron (3 mg) daily supplements. Is there a difference between boron and borax? Should I increase the dosage?

I drink apple cider vinegar every day, too. When will I begin to feel relief? The pain is especially noticeable if I try to raise a gallon jug of water that I fill from the tap -- it is nearly incapacitating! I tried to strengthen my musceles with exercising but it does nothing to improve the condition."

Replies
04/22/2012: Judi from Totnes, Devon England replies: "Elvisabeth, I can't comment on the boron, but I have found that high strength rose hip worked really well on arthritis in my hands and of course regular exercises to keep the joins moving. Good luck I hope you find something that works for you."
04/22/2012: Olddude from Chattanooga, Tn, Usa replies: "Apple cider vinegar helps me some since I'm still active in working with a friend building a boat. I run the sanders and my arms and shoulders get tired and stiff. I'm 66, male, and still going. I also use extra virgin olive oil and it really helps more then the Apple Cider Vinegar in my opinion. One teaspoon in evening. I also take blackstrap molasses to in the evening. For those days when I've really overdone it, I take a 800 mg Ibuprofen prescription and that stops all aches and pains. I don't take the aspirin much, just when I've done myself in thinking I'm 21 again, lol. good luck."
04/23/2012: Liz from Boston, Massachusetts replies: "Elizabeth - Please try the Vitamin D3 supplementing that I detailed in my initial response to your post (if you scroll down, you'll see it among yesterday's entries).

It's very simple - no guesswork involved, and I really think it will do the trick for your forearm pain."

I have just read that if you eat a lot of cabbage you should up your intake of iodine! No idea if this is true but something to think about and research. Maybe someone here will have an idea on this subject?"
11/15/2010: Farrelly from Traverse City, Mi replies: "It is my understanding that all the cruciferous vegetables depress your thyroid function. I do not know the mechanism but this is probably why the recommendation of Iodine because Iodine supports the Thyroid."
[WARNING!]  06/18/2012: Valerie from Cleveland, Ohio replies: "Cruciferous vegetables, such as cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, brussel sprouts, do depress a person's thyroid. They prevent the conversion of T4 to T3 the form of thyroid your body uses. Eat them, but not in great quantity or possibly every day. Also they prevent cancer, but it's thought that they do this by causing anemia. One more thing, 20% of people don't make enough of the enzyme needed to convert T4 to T3 so they particularly suffer if they eat goitrogenic foods. Research goitrogenic foods."
