Robert Henry from Ten Mile, Tn Usa writes: "HI U GOOD PEOPLE DOIN,

I am researching Alzheimers and people there is very little imformation on this site. Am I the only old codger here? If you a youngun then you will be here pretty soon. The traditional medical folks have nothing to offer. I have been at this for about a year, and here's what I have come up with: B 12, Folic Acid, Virgin Coconut Oil and Acetyl -L- Carnitine, and Gluthionine. Dang, that's it. 'Course the typical crap... Like work puzzles. That's BS. This is a physical thing happening to your brain. It all goes back to what you are exposed to, either nutrionally or enviromentally.

Can any of you shed any light on this? This site covers the world so if we put our experiences togeather it will be more potant than any medical group. Let's do it. I believe that Alzheimers is caused by a natural thing and we can solve it by putting our collective minds togeather. Whatever story you got, spit it out. It will cause someone to think of their experience. We may not can solve this, but we can damn sure put a dent in it.

I want to cry when I think of Pat Summit, the coach of the Lady Vols. She is doomed because the people around her don't want her exposed to natural healing. The only answer the medical folks have is HGH and that's outlawed. It works.

Excuse my rant =====ROBERT HENRY=====

TED'S REMEDIES

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand writes: "Alzheimer's disease is commonly caused by a virus, usually the Herpes Simplex virus, that I see quite often. The standard of treatment is four hourly doses for a minimum of 3 days of lysine and threonine (helps excretion, kills the virus in neurons and immune system), between 500 mg to 1000 mg, but I use 1/4 teaspoon to 1/3 teaspoon doses, for each, usually 1/3 to 1/4 for lysine and 1/4 for threonine. Maintenance dose twice a day for each would be fine.

Now many of my patients report no improvement in memory. Well, that remedy was meant to stop the progression of Alzheimer's caused by the virus. So other parameters did improve (socially, immune systems, etc.). But there is a second part, which is basically to restore or regrow the neurons.

That is basically hydergine 1 to 4 mg and piracetam at least 800 mg dose. That is the minimum. But if you really want to get rid of the virus, then you need something in addition to the lysine, such as selenium 600 mcg (yeast form) and BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene) 1000 mg a day (such as 500 mg x 2) to get it completely out of the system in some cases because it prevents replication of the virus, both of them! So if the virus doesn't reproduce for long enough, you get 100% kill. The same thing with malaria and mosquitoes, if you don't allow them to reproduce, it is the most effective method. DDT kills but it doesn't prevent reproduction, and so they can become resistant. The same thing with bacteria and antibiotics. If the bacteria don't reproduce you also get 100% kill, but antibiotics just kill and the few that survive become resistant to the antibiotic.

So the treatment of Alzheimer's disease is really a minimum of two stages, 1) kill the virus that causes it 2) restore some of the nerves destroyed (thus restoring the memory). There might be another remedy, but I require donations to buy these, such as centrophenoxine, gingko, ginger, etc. or you can try them yourself.

Grannie Gay from Lakeland, Fl writes: "I had read Dr Wright's article on Lithium Orotate several years ago. My husband has been treated for Alzheimer's for several years. I decided to try the treatment. He had an immediate decline, so we discontinued treatment immediately.

We do use several supplements: Hup A (Huperzine), Digestive enzimes, Lions Mane Mushroom tablets, DMAE and lecithin. We had run out of the Lions Mane last spring - his decline increased at that time, and although he's taking it again, he never recovered what he lost. Although decline continues, he gets along pretty well.

I find that changes - travel - even to visit family members for holidays, etc, are the greatest challenge to his functioning.

(His younger brother died just a couple of years after diagnosis. He didn't have early medications to delay disease progress. ) Their mother and maternal grandmother both had the condition, and the youngest brother, @76, is also taking medications now.

Shirley from Durham, North Carolina, Usa writes: "My husband and I take 2 TSP of coconut oil everyday. There is also growing evidence of its efficacy in treating Alzhemier's. Dr. Newport couldn't get her husband recently diagnosed with AD into a clinical trial using the MCTs from coconut oil, she put him on 2 TSP/day about 2-3 years ago. She saw improvement almost immediately, and he continues to improve. If it can't be completely cured, I believe it's quite possible to at least manage it better using coconut oil.

My mom died from AD about 11 years ago, and if I'm one of those with a predisposition (APOE4 ), I plan to continue taking it.

Tom from Regina, Sk writes: "I couldn't find "Niacinamide" nor "B3" listed under the big main "Supplements" Tab, so I'll put it here.

Also, I note some topics have a "Remedies Wanted" URL link on the right, yet others like this Alzheimers don't?

Supposedly, according to very recent research at UC Irvine on mice, daily high doses of plain old niacinamide form of Vitamin B3 (NOT the niacin form, which gives the "hot flush"), in amounts equivalent to 2000-3000 mg/day per adult human divided into 4 doses, totally reverses Alzheimers within about 4 months!

The B Vitamins are all water soluble, so like Vitamin C to get maximum flooding of body tissues they need to be taken in doses spread out throughout the day.

Any Search with about 4 of the keywords will return dozens of results. This one is late 2009:

http://www.articlesbase.com/alternative-medicine-articles/will-remarkably-inexpensive-nutrient-cure-alzheimers-disease-1433911.html

How does niacinamide work? Neurons are constructed with microtubules. These are scaffolding within the cells that conduct information. When the microtubules break down, the cells can die.

The tubules are like highways inside cells. Dr. Green said that niacinamide is "making a wider more stable highway. " Alzheimer's disease breaks down the highway (tubules). But niacinamide prevents this from happening.

I've previously told you how the toxic metal mercury also destroys these microtubules, potentially causing Alzheimer's disease. So anything that can prevent the damage or reverse it is a huge discovery.

Note that the mice were bred with a genetic defect to produce the amyloid plaques, so it seems the niacinamide just completely overrides that. IOW, it did not eliminate the plaques!

The articles in the Search give slight variants of the dosage. Another article says " 500mg 4 to 6 times/day".

If you have dementia of any kind, consider niacinamide, 1, 500 mg twice daily.

Tommy from North York, On, Canada writes: "Here some publshed articles about the implication of chronic bacterial infections in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer:

http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jnr.21147/abstract

http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-2202/11/121

The funny things is the company Kenrico already patented Nattokinase for Alzheimer disease, because the enzyme digests the biofilms of Chlamydia pneumoniae and abviously the amyloid proteins are nothing but something related to Chlamydia biofilms in the brain in the second article.

I have found so many articles about MS and lyme disease. I will post the articles when I have more time. But it's interesting to know that the so called chronic disease can be treatable if the medical community and the pharmaceutical companies focused in the causes rather than symptoms. These pharmaceutical companies hire brilliant talented young scientists and I'm pretty sure they know all about this. But Money comes before health and it's up to us THE HUMANS to stop this and tell people the truth for a better world for all of us.

Money is not happiness. Maybe a means. Helping others is the true happiness.

I have seen them come out of the condition for short periods of time when they are removed from their mates company. People who stay in relationships because they feel like they have to stay for religious reasons (keep the family together;don't ever leave, ect) find relief from the toxic feeling of helplessness and escape by creating this condition. Lithium, the rediscovered (missing?) element for your brain's regeneration
The Misunderstood Mineral

By Jonathan V. Wright, M.D.
(Reprinted From "Nutrition and Healing"
http://www.oradix.com/health-library/article.php?id=031

excerpt: There are many other research findings that also strongly suggest that lithium will protect against potential Alzheimer's disease and slow the progression of existing cases. Researchers have reported that lithium inhibits beta-amyloid secretion, and also prevents damage caused by beta-amyloid protein once it's been formed.20-23 Beta-amyloid peptide is a signature protein involved in Alzheimer's disease: the more beta-amyloid protein, the worse the Alzheimer's becomes.

Overactivation of a brain cell protein called tau protein also contributes to neuronal degeneration in Alzheimer's disease, as does the formation of neurofibrillary tangles Lithium inhibits both of these nerve-cell damaging problems.24,25

And you've likely read that individuals with Alzheimer's disease usually have excess aluminum accumulation in brain cells. While it's not yet known whether this excess aluminum is a cause, an effect, or just coincidental, most health-conscious individuals take precautions to avoid ingesting aluminum. Unfortunately, it's impossible to completely avoid all aluminum, since it's naturally present in nearly all foods. But lithium can help protect your brain against aluminum by helping to "chelate" it so that it can be more easily removed from the body.25

Although Alzheimer's disease and senile dementia aren't technically the same, they do share many of the same degenerative features so there's every reason to expect that lithium will help prevent or slow the progression of senile dementia too.

Lithium Increases Gray Matter in Bipolar Brains

excerpt: While the brains of lithium-treated bipolar patients did not differ from those of the control subjects in total white-matter volume, their overall gray-matter volume was significantly higher, sometimes by as much as 15 percent.

Lithium Orotate - Alzheimers Disease, Aluminum, Fibromyalgia: Is There a Relationship?

Fico from New York, NY writes: "Cure of cognitive impairment of down syndrome may help Alzheimer's sufferers.
Changing minds is a protocol to treat the cognitive impairment seen in down syndrome.
After only 13 weeks of treatment the IQ start to rise.
here you can find the protocol, a documentary trailer, testimonies and research:
www.changingmindsfoundation.com

and here you can see other fragments. Watch nichole who has a dual diagnostic of down syndrome + alzheimer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_vHGmPUhQ0

keep in mind that The connection between Down syndrome and Alzheimer's disease is complex. Studies of the brains of people with Down syndrome reveal that, by the age of 40, almost all develop the brain changes characteristic of Alzheimer's disease.

I know the protocol use 2 prescription drugs, but one is no necessary, the other one is prosac, and its main use is for neurogenesis= creation of new neurons with strong synapses.

so there is possible cure for the cognitive impairment, and the article about the lithium is very interesting, looks like it does the same as prosac.

exercise stimulate neurogenesis and THC also.

changingminds's protocol
Protocol

Ginkgo Biloba

Ginkgo Biloba - In 2003, Stanford University discovered the main culprit, GABA receptor, an inhibitor, was ON continuously in individuals with Down syndrome. (View details) The result was- it did not allow the nerves in the memory area of the brain to fire. To get the proper level of GABA, a GABA antagonist was used to turn it down. (View details) Ginkgo Biloba is a GABA antagonist which has been used for over 4000 years (View details)

Prozac (Fluoxetine)

Prozac - The University Of Maryland School Of Medicine treated Down syndrome mice%uFFFD with prozac for 24 days (2006). It increased neurogenesis (the formation of new nerves) to a normal level (View details). This is like increasing the hardware on your computer. It allows you to run more complicated software. In fetuses with Down syndrome, neurons fail to show normal dendritic development, yielding a "tree in winter" appearance. This developmental failure is thought to result in mental retardation (View details)

Focalin XR

Focalin XR is an ADHD medicine that increases focus and decreases impulsiveness and hyperactivity. It is a mild stimulant. As our children improved, we became increasingly aware of their inability to attend to the tasks at hand.

Phosphatidylcholine

Phosphatidylcholine is a phospholipid that makes up 50% of the cell membrane. The membrane is the lining of every nerve cell that carries our signals. We are trying to heal the brain by growing new neurons and allowing them to fire. Giving PC is like bringing the bricks to the construction site when building a house. (View details)

Formulated with a 4:1 Ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 in Liquid form or Softgel pills.

Of the tens of thousands of molecules that make up the life of a cell, Phosphatidylcholine (PC) stands apart; probably the most important one of all. BodyBio PC is made of only pure phospholipids which automatically form liposomes in the watery environment of the body, but it goes one important step further....it is also formulated with the essential lipids at a 4:1 ratio. Most PC currently available has an EFA ratio of ~12:1. BodyBio PC not only has a higher concentration of PC, up to 66% but also maintains EFA concentration at the preferred 4:1 ratio, a BodyBio exclusive.

Body Bio Balanced Oil

Body Bio Oil - There is a growing body of evidence that inflammation and degeneration go hand in hand. This oil provides the body with the building blocks to reduce inflammation and improve health. Link to references

4:1 Ratio of Organic Sunflower and Flax Seed Oil Blend in its Virgin State

Fatty acids are not only good for you -- they are ESSENTIAL!

One of the very best supplement programs includes additional Essential Fatty Acids of Omega 6 to Omega 3 at a 4:1 ratio.

This special formulation of organic sunflower and flax is now available as BODYBIO BALANCE!

Folinic Acid/ B 12 (methylcobalamin)

Folinic Acid/ B 12 (methylcobalamin) - Dr. Jill James has a detailed study looking at methylation and the need for these nutrients in the patient with Down syndrome. (View Details)

Dosage:

Ginkgo Biloba - The dose is approximately 2.5 mg/lb for the dry herb but must be adjusted on the basis of clinical response and tolerability.

Prozac - The dose needs to be adjusted in the range of 5 mg to 20mg/day on the basis of clinical response and tolerability.

Focalin XR - dosage should be individualized according to the needs and responses of the patient

Phosphatidylcholine - depends on age, check table below

Body Bio Oil - depends on age, check table below

Folinic Acid/ B 12 depends on age, check table below

If you prepare a curry don't just use the herbal mix form the grocery but add your own paste of vegetable oil (arachide, sunflower or sesame oil), chilli powder and turmeric powder.
[YEA] John from Glasgow, UK writes: "Drinking coffee has been tipped as a possible way of delaying and even preventing Alzheimer's disease in previous research. However these studies have only ever involved a small number of people and were reliant on participants remembering how much tea and coffee they drank earlier in their lives.

This latest study showed that cognitive decline was significantly less among people who drank three cups of coffee every day. These findings add weight to the body of existing evidence suggesting long-term caffeine intake may have a protective effect against the onset of Alzheimer's disease.

It is too soon to say our morning coffee or afternoon cup of tea is anything more than a pleasant pick-me-up. It is important to now research further how caffeine consumption impacts on dementia risk."

I did a little research and saw there was little Alhiemers in India, where it is a big part of the diet. I was having a bit of a memory problem at the time. Anyways, after about 3 months of taking a tablespoon a day, I noticed my shoulder pain went away. My doctor had said he could do nothing for it, as it was arthitis and that he had it also. Now I notice that I don\'t seem too concern about memory and I have regained some interest in reading articles. I have had several, 3, cases of skin cancer in the last year, hopefully its due to the years of living in a tropical climate. I tried to stop taking it a couple of times to see what would happen and my shoulder pain seem to start to come back. So apparently it did not cure it but stopped the pain and I am now able to shoot basketball or any other activity. I put it in water and stir it up and swallow the half a cup very quickly as I do not like the taste. I order it 5 pounds at a time and keep a 10 pound supply on hand. Be careful it stains things yellow."

[YEA] Diane from Foley, Alabama writes: "October 30, 2007: does exposure to aluminum cause Alzheimer\'s disease? A friend's father (65) just passed away with Alzheimer\'s. His mother (63) died over a year ago with Alzheimer\'s. They were both diagnosed within 6 months of each other. My friend said that the nutritionist noted that both parents consumed beer on weekends and drank from cans. (Cheaper) Both parents consumed 6 to 8 soda\'s a day with cans. His mother cooked meat loafs and meats in aluminum pans for easy throw-a-way. If this is true, is there a remedy to remove aluminum from the body? My husband has quit drinking soda\'s all together."

from writes: "There are two studies that seemed to link this to the fact that drinking soy milk can help Alzheimers that I think is remotely interesting.

One study showed that the brain of an alzheimer's patient is extremely low in hydrogen sulfide, while on the other hand, it was found that baby infants who drink soy milk had high levels of hydrogen sulfide.

Now I am not saying that hydrogen sulfide is good or bad, it is one of the three gaseous molecules the body uses to control, many biological functions. The other two is nitric oxide and carbon monoxide produced in very low amounts to control the body's physiology.

It is quite possible that by taking soy, Alzheimers might be helped, remotely anyway, through the increase in hydrogen sulfide through driking soy milk. The reason being is Alzheimer's brains are low in hydrogen sulfide while soy milk causes increase in hydrogen sulfide. Ted"

Here are the two research studies. By the way, neither soy nor cow's milk is recommended for infants."

BACKGROUND: Intestinal gas is thought to be the cause abdominal discomfort in infants. Little is known about the type and amount of gas produced by the infant's colonic microflora and whether diet influences gas formation. METHODS: Fresh stool specimens were collected from 10 breast-fed infants, 5 infants fed a soy-based formula, and 3 infants fed a milk-based formula at approximately 1, 2, and 3 months of age. Feces were incubated anaerobically for 4 hours at 37 degrees C followed by quantitation of hydrogen (H2), methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), methanethiol (CH3SH), and dimethyl sulfide (CH3SCH3) in the head-space. RESULTS: H2 was produced in greater amounts by breast-fed infants than by infants in either formula group, presumably the consequence of incomplete absorption of breast milk oligosaccharides. CH4 was produced in greater amounts by infants fed soy formula than by infants on other diets. CO2 was produced in similar amounts by infants in all feeding groups. Production of CH3SH was conspicuously low by feces of breast-fed infants and production of H2S was high by soy-formula-fed infants. CH3SCH3 was not detected. Only modest changes with age were observed and there was no relation between gas production and stool consistency, although stools were more likely to be malodorous when concentrations of H2S and/or CH3SH were high. CONCLUSIONS: Gas release by infant feces is strongly influenced by an infant's diet. Of particular interest are differences in production of the highly toxic sulfur gases, H2S and CH3SH, because of the role that these gases may play in certain intestinal disorders of infants.

Alzheimer is low in hydrogen sulfide: Brain hydrogen sulfide is severely decreased in Alzheimer's disease

Abstract:

Although hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is generally thought of in terms of a poisonous gas, it is endogenously produced in the brain from cysteine by cystathionine-synthase (CBS). H2S functions as a neuromodulator as well as a smooth muscle relaxant. Here we show that the levels of H2S are severely decreased in the brains of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients compared with the brains of the age matched normal individuals. In addition to H2S production CBS also catalyzes another metabolic pathway in which cystathionine is produced from the substrate homocysteine. Previous findings, which showed thatS-adenosyl-l-methionine (SAM), a CBS activator, is much reduced in AD brain and that homocysteine accumulates in the serum of AD patients, were confirmed. These observations suggest that CBS activity is reduced in AD brains and the decrease in H2S may be involved in some aspects of the cognitive decline in AD.
