TED'S REMEDIES READER FEEDBACK

[YEA] 11/21/2011: Carolyn from Milford, Ct: "Ted's Remedy for seasonal/food allergies and asthma absolutely worked for my ten year-old son!
At five years old, he began to get seasonal allergies in the spring. Next came a few food allergies. Each year, the hayfever became progressively worse until, two years ago, it turned into full blown asthma. Worse still, he became alergic to wheat (but NOT the gluten... the wheat itself), all corn and corn by-products, mushrooms, shellfish (not the iodine, but the shellfish itself), all nuts and seeds and their respective oils, and on and on.
In desperation, I tried Ted's remedy for seasonal allergies, as I did NOT want my son to stay on all those steroids each spring. I noticed that Ted kept talking about excess copper and the need for zinc. So, I looked down the long list of my son's food allergies and compared it to a list of taboo foods for people with Wilson's Disease, a disorder that prevents affected people from processing copper at all. Lo and behold... My son's food allergies had one thing in common; they were all foods loaded with copper. So, I began Ted's remedy and, I swear, within three days my son woke up in the morning and didn't wheeze or need a single pill or inhaler ever again. Interesting to note, however, as soon as I thought it was "safe" to take him off the remedy, all his symptoms came back the next day. Thus, I continue to give him the suppliments and he is doing amazingly well. Oh, and his food allergies after 12 months....gone!!!!!
Here is the protocol that I continue to follow:
I mix into a glass of juice EVERY MORNING: 1,000 mg powdered Sodium Ascorbate, 3 drops liquid vitamin D3 (1,000mg), 2 drops liquid molybdenum (50 mcg). He can't taste a bit of it in the juice, so there are no complaints.
With breakfast, he takes 25mg zinc gluconate every day.
TWICE A WEEK he takes 100mcg selenium (L-selenomethionine) with the zinc in the morning. I give it on Saturdays and and Wednesdays, because its easy for me to remember.
After school, when his stomach is empty, I give him 10 mg manganese gluconate with a bottled water, because Ted says this should be taken alone.
Three times a week, at dinner, I give him a "raw" B-complex, as several of the B-vitamins are aparently needed to aid the other supplements. Plus, I mix an additional 1, 000 mg of powdered sodium ascorbate into whatever he is drinking at dinnertime.
My son's pediatrician, who is open to alternative treatments, was so shocked at the allergy blood results, not to mention the vanishing asthma, that he wrote all of this down to try on other young patients!"

09/12/2011: Karenina from Southampton, Hampshire, Uk: "Hi Ted,
I started taking the supplements you recommended for allergies, hayfever etc. The first two days it worked very well then suddenly it became rapidly worse and I am sneezing, my nose is running etc. The only difference with my supplements is the fact that I am taking Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C because I can't find the other Vitamin C you recommended and I have as yet to order sodium thiosulfate, baking soda and citric acid. Can you tell me why it is getting worse when it went very well the first two days when I did not include the Vitamin C asorbic acid or am I doing something wrong. Please help me. Your advice would be most welcome.
Many thanks for your wonderful help.
Karenina"
Replies09/13/2011: Karenina from Southampton, Hampshire Uk replies: "Hi again,Just to let you know I stopped taking the asorbic Vitamin C and just took Selenium, Magesium Manganese and Vitamin B complex and it has calmed down now. So it seems to me the Ascorbic Vitamin C was triggering off my asthma again. Will let you know how I get on. It is early days yet."

[YEA] 03/11/2007: Dianne from Seattle, WA: "I've had minor allergies for most of my life & progressive allergies for about 8yrs. Many of my symptoms are "sub clinical" & even the Allergists have dismissed me as a chronic complainer when I describe my symptoms. My most recent issue is that if I take pain Tylenol or Benedryl I get chills & a weird, creepy-crawling feeling inside of my lower back. I asked the Dr. to check my kidneys but an ultra-sound looked normal. I'm now going to look into liver stress thanks to your article. I can't believe the Dr.s didn't make the connection at the time of my visit!"

[YEA] 02/20/2007: RD from Calcutta, India: "I heard something really interesting from an Indian parent in the US the other day. She was saying that her child, with two biological Indian parents, had a host of allergies. This is apparently very common for children of Indian parents who are born in the US. It is surmised that these children inherit, through their birth, highly evolved immune systems that are used to battling a lot of germs. But in the US there are comparitively few diseases to combat with the result that these highly evolved immune systems have nothing to do. They then turn on themselves and create all sorts of allergies. Isn't that interesting?"
Replies03/20/2009: Evimush from Phoenix, AZ replies: "Yes, that is fascinating. Populations differences can tell us so much. Finally I read in Forbes that mainstream scientists are studying friendly bacteria. Having the same bacteria even in the same country is only 30%"

TREAT THE LIVER
03/26/2011: Bill from San Fernando, San Fernando, Philippines: "Food and environmental allergy problems -- including other auto-immune diseases -- have statistically risen quite seriously and dramatically for about the last 70 so years. Especially problems like asthma, sinusitis, rhinitis, gluten problems etc. My own way of looking at this is by first finding out and understanding what causes the problem in the body in the first place.
When a foreign protein body enters the human body through an exogenous mucal site such as the intestines, mouth, lungs, eyes or nose, then if you are allergic to this foreign protein, a reaction occurs at the local site. For instance, in an allergic individual, pollen will induce a rise in histamine levels in the mucal nose canal cells which in turn will increases the permeability of the nasal mucus cells causing excessive mucus to form -- thus you get a drippy nose and continually sneeze alot. In the case of asthma, the same thing occurs in the bronchial lining and lung cells -- a heavy build up of mucus in the lungs and the bronchial tubes also constrict, making breathing very difficult. The only answer that Doctors have is to give anti-histamines drugs in the form of sprayers or pumps which, although it alleviates the symptoms -- does not cure anythinig and certainly does not help to address the root cause of allergies.
But how a person becomes an allergy victim in the first place is another more complex story. Here the main areas of concern are the intestines and the liver. Foreign protein bodies usually enter the body through a damaged intestines -- which should not allow large undigested proteins through into the blood or the lymph supply vessels. These foreign protein bodies should then be taken to the liver where these allergens are normally efficiently removed by any healthy liver. In a sick or damaged or over-stressed liver, the allergen cannot be neutralized or stored, so these foreign protein bodies are allowed to continually flow around the blood system and so, in response, the histamine levels naturally increase, causing continual bouts of localized or widespread allergic reactions in the body.
The second problem we have to address is that a healthy liver should also be able to efficiently remove or excrete any excessive histamines within the human body in order to keep the body's serum level histamines in a healthy and acceptable balance. If you have a damaged or insufficient or stressed liver that cannot cope and do its job properly, then the histamine levels in an allergy victim's body will not be in balance -- but they will instead exist in excessive amounts in the blood because the liver cannot adequately remove them. Excessive histamines in the blood will cause consistent and continual inflammotory reactions in the body depending on their level. Hence the continual need for allergy sufferers to forever purchase anti-histamine drugs for the rest of his/her life. The liver is the main excretory path for histamines removal in the body.
Therefore the way to cure allergies is simply to repair your intestines -- to stop any large undigested food protein bodies from entering the blood/lymph causing the allergy and stressing the liver in the first place -- and secondly to repair or revive your own liver into a healthy organ once again in order to achieve complete foreign protein removal from the blood as well as to maintain proper proper controlled histamine balance in the blood.
The initial problem -- in the intestines -- might have initially been caused by perforation of the intestinal walls in the past from another problem like candida or celiac disease or ulcers or IBS for example which will have to be cured first. This is perhaps the most difficult aspect of curing yourself of any food allergies -- in that these associated problems can also be its origin as well as causing further aggravation to the allergic condition in the future.
Dr Gerson from his own use of iodine in his cancer therapy protocol was convinced that when he gave his cancer victims large dose lugol's iodine, all their allergies disappeared completely for life. And Dr Flechas -- from the Iodine Project -- has also proved that taking large dose lugol's iodine -- this inhibits the conversion an amino acid, histidine into histamine -- and prevents over-formation of histamine in the body. This fact will naturally act to help to reduce histamine levels in your body. But iodine also has so many other beneificial effects. It boosts the thyroid which in turn boosts the immune system. Taking iodine also increases body's -- and liver's -- metabolic rate and helps to reduce hormone receptor resistance throughout the body -- ie aids proper hormone balance.
So the best route to perhaps cure allergies for good would seem to be by curing any outstanding problems both in the liver and the intestines and to adopt a much healthier diet regimen. The best protocol for detox AND Liver repair seems to be this one:
Chanca Piedra -- 1000 mgs twice a day at mealtimes.
Milk Thistle -- 1000 mgs twice a day at mealtimes
Alpha Lipoic Acid -- 300 mgs twice a day at mealtimes
Selenium -- 100 micrograms twice a day at mealtimes.
Vitamin C -- As Ascorbate, 1000 mgs twice a day at mealtimes.
Magnesium -- 250 mgs twice a day taken as magnesium citrate or magnesium gluconate. Taken outside mealtimes.
5% Lugol's Iodine -- 2 drops twice a day in a glass of water outside mealtimes.
The above detox and repair will also help to gently purge gallstones from your liver/gallbladder and also should help to remove any kidney stones as well."

03/27/2011: Cindy from Cochrane, Wi replies: "To Bill: what kind of diet recomendations/restrictions would one follow with the supplements you suggest for this liver detox/repair? thanks"
03/28/2011: Bill from San Fernando, San Fernando, Philippines replies: "Hi Cindy... The best diet is simply an elimination diet which essentially eliminates all the dangerous elements from processed or man-made foods and is the same as the anti-candida diet shown in this EC comment stream here :www.earthclinic.com/CURES/mystery-diagnosis.html
My own health maintenance protocol -- always preventative -- also assumes that you will never realistically be able to avoid processed or man-made foods. After all, in order to stick to such a regimen would mean not going out to parties, not eating in restaurants, not drinking a little wine or coffee with friends now and then -- and what about holidays? I regard this avoid-everything-bad-at-all-costs as a little excessive and extreme in my opinion and not very realistic because I like going out socialising and having fun occasionally. So, unless you are suffering from a major problem like liver problems, heart problems, candida or IBS or Fibromyalgia or arthritis, which does call for a much more intense daily approach and a stricter diet, then my way is simply to adopt a preventative maintenance approach so that you can enjoy your life a wee bit.
So this is why I continually detox my own body on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. My regimen now is much less intense and I've become much more aware of my own body state since ridding myself of candida. I usually take a decoction of Chanca Piedra, Heart Vine(Tinospora cordifolia), Neem leaves and Tumeric Root once a month for about 7 days only. This washes my kidneys, helps revive my liver and intestines as well as helping to rid my body of any excess calcium and acid build-up. I alkalize fairly regularly using Ted's lemon/lime remedy mainly, normally on a daily basis now. I regularly take vitamins and minerals in the form of dessicated liver and fulvic acid as my nutrient baseline. I avoid taking tablets supplements where possible. I also regularly take large dose lugol's Iodine(removes fluoride and bromide as well as all its many other benefits) as well as large dose Magnesium and Vit C(Ascorbate) because not only are these specific nutrients sadly lacking in all western diets, the RDA recommended for these supplements is, in my opinion, way to small as to be almost laughable against all the evidence that's already out there. I also use borax and Hydrogen Peroxide remedies when I have to and regularly use Ted's recommended topical and oral remedies as well. I also keep Methylene Blue, Aspirin and Lysine handy in case I get flu or a cold or some other nasty bug.
So therefore my health maintenance method is almost wholly preventative but not that intense. I continually supplement to supply those vitamins and minerals that I think I am not getting from my food. I also regularly detox heavy metals using sodium thiosulphate or through diet using green tea, cilantro or chlorella. All this has simply become a habit with me now.
I am currently trying something called Chyawanprash -- a complete and all-round Ayurvedic herbal food supplement that contains over 30-40 important Indian herbs(the herbal formula does vary depending on what make you buy) based on an ancient and famous Indian herbal recipe. The Ayurvedic healing system cleverly makes some of its important herbal concoctions completely naturally(no modern preservatives or additives) into food forms that are actually quite tasty -- and by the way, Chyawanprash is delicious -- you can take it with bread or crackers as a spread or simply take two teaspoonfuls a day and it is packed with nutrients. Chyawanprash is a well known herbal rejuvenator in Indian Ayurvedic medicine and contains some very active and important healing herbs like Boerhaavia diffusa(liver, allergies), Indian Myrrh Tree Bark(intestines, parasites), Silver (anti-pathogenic), Indian Gooseberry(high Vit C), Ashwaganda(all round adaptogen -- Indian ginseng), Sida cordifolia(adaptogen, energizing), Black Pepper(for lungs and as an absorbtion synergist), Asparagus(alkaline, acts against arthritis and cancer), Cinnamon(Intestinal protective), Terminalia chebula(anti-ulcer), Tinospora cordifolia(all round adaptogen, liver and kidneys), Tribulus terrestris(libido, sexual organs), Chanca piedra(all round adaptogen, antiviral, liver and kidneys) and there are many more herbs as well.
Chyawanprash is also fairly cheap, you can find it at any Indian grocery or deli because it is an ancient and well-known herbal rejuventor that is still widely used and trusted by the Indian community."

[YEA] 04/28/2012: Ironicpear from Charlotte, Nc: "YES! The only thing that has ever worked for me. I tried gallons of ACV, which is great for lots of things but did nothing for my allergies.
I drink the turmeric tea - 1/2 teaspoon in warm water with a bit of oil and black pepper (I've been told they enhance bioavailability). The taste really bothered me at first, but I got used to it, and it immediately makes me feel better - less runny nose and itchy eyes.
Many thanks to everyone who posted this remedy. I've suffered for years and my allergies are finally manageable.
Also, if you're taking any kind of antihistamine, stop. They always made my symptoms worse, caused sinus infections and irritated my sinuses so much they would completely block up."

After reading this wonderful site I had started taking Turmeric 3 times a day to heal a great big boil I had (half a teaspoon in warm milk)I have to be honest and say it tastes REALLY BAD but so what just get it down! To my surprise I noticed that I stopped waking up in the night with a runny nose and during the day no sneezing etc. For the first time in 35 years I have been free of hayfever all summer thanks to Turmeric 3 times a day, many thanks Earthclinic"

[YEA] 09/01/2009: Rebekah from Athens, Ga: "WOW. For about 3 weeks now I have been taking 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric every day. My allergies are GONE. It worked in a matter of days. It works so well that I can hardly remember how bad my allergies used to be. I know that I was miserable and I was trying all kinds of over-the-counter crap from the pharmacy that wasn't working or made me feel worse. But turmeric... ahhhhh what relief!!! I used to have to sleep with a roll of toilet paper next to my head because I would wake up and blow my nose 6 or 7 times in the night. None of that now!!! No symptoms at ALL now unless I forget to drink my turmeric tea for 2 days.
This is how I take it: dissolve 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder in hot water (I get the powder from the spice section in my natural food store). I add a tiny amount of coconut oil because I read that turmeric works better if you take it with a little fat. Then I add a spoonful of blackstrap molasses because I like the taste. Keep stirring as you drink it so that the spice doesn;t settle at the bottom. I drink this any time during the day, just once a day. I had allergy problems my whole life- allergic to everything. Now I never even sneeze!!!!! I am so thankful. Hope this helps someone else.
:-)

[YEA] 08/28/2009: Polly from Chania, Crete, Greece: "Hi everyone, I'm another fan of turmeric! I started taking turmeric about two weeks ago for my acne, after I had tried strong antibiotics and salicylic acid in the past. I had large pimples on my face and back and often painful boils that lingered on for days. I'm delighted to say that my skin has cleared up completely- it's the first time I 've seen it like this in years!
I also read how turmeric cures allergies and hayfever and recommended it to my boyfriend and my housemate, who both suffer from hayfever. At first they didn't even want to hear about it, but now - guess what- they swear by it! It works for both of them and they've stopped taking their hayfever/ anti-histamine medicines.
It does taste horrible though and after trial and error, the three of us are using the following recipe:
1 teaspoon turmeric diluted in 2 teaspoons olive oil (or whatever oil you want) and some warm water. Mix well and top up the glass with any kind of fruit juice. Drink with a straw.
This recipe makes drinking it a lot easier; we tried water and warm milk but it just won't go down- do give this a try, it makes the taste bearable.
I drink this every morning before breakfast for my skin and it works wonders! I see that there's no need for me to take more, so I just don't. However, with hayfever it's a different story. The other two people drink as much as they need throughout the day; my boyfriend is usually ok with 1-2 glasses per day, but my housemate needs more.
I think you just have to experiment until you find out what dosage works best for your particular needs. It definitely works though! Thank you so much Earth Clinic!!!"

Recently I put a pinch of turmeric powder and a pinch of pepper powder in a cup of warm milk and gave it to him before going to bed. And presto! Worked like magic! No more couging and sneezing in the mornings.
Also I made sure he eats a lot of organic raw vegetables ...a bowlful everyday.
Hope this works for someone."

[YEA] 09/08/2008: Carolyn from Northwest, Ohio: "I vote "yea" for Turmeric as a cure for allergies:
I suffered from hayfever type allergies seemingly constantly since we moved to our new house in Jan of '07. During that summer, my symptoms were so severe I couldn't be outside for 5 minutes without having a severe hayfever attack. I took OTC meds daily but they were getting harder to buy as they all got moved behind the pharmacy counter, plus they took hours to start working.
I sought out earth clinic and wrote down my top 5 cures for allergies, thinking I would start trying them in the spring of '08. But in the Winter of '07 I rescued a rabbit that needed to eat hay twice a day. Of course I was allergic! I decided to try Turmeric as it was the cheapest remedy. I started taking 2 capsules a day (720 mg caps) in February '08. Within 5 days I noticed a great improvement. After a few months with this regime, I started noticing my allergies getting less severe and less frequent. After 4 months, my husband told me, "You don't have allergies anymore!"
Now, 7 full months later (and past pollen season), I am down to 1 capsule per day as maintenance, and take an extra one if I have congestion. I am so thankful for this simple cure! The world is open to me again: I can go outside without bringing a snot rag. I can brush my cats daily with no symptoms. I can clean the cat litter without having a reaction to the dust. I can feed my rabbit and not suffer. I was able to bring my feather bed back out of storage and use it with confidence cause I'm not allergic to it anymore! I do still have problems with mold when it rains, but just clogged sinuses not the severe reaction I used to get. An extra turmeric capsule and I'm fine. Gotta love it!"

[YEA] 07/08/2008: Aster from Vancouver Island, Canada: "The infection is nearly gone!
I wanted to share, as well, that I have very bad seasonal allergies requiring daily anti-histamine treatment, plus eye drops and nasal spray. As a side effect of taking the turmeric capsules (I must assume as nothing else has changed), I do not have allergies today. It is very hot and dry and I was in the garden for hours today... it is the height of allergy season. I realized I had not taken anti-histamines for two days but have no allergies. I really didn't expect that!!!!"

[YEA] 10/25/2007: Dan from Cary, North Carolina: "Turmeric is one of the miracle spices in the world. Turmeric also builds your immune system. Since my Childhood I have always had sinus problems - runny nose - stuffed up when weather changes - I would be miserable for months - missing school - work when I came to USA.
Since last 4 yrs I have been taking less then ¼ teaspoon of turmeric pinch of black pepper mixed in milk ( 8 oz ) - warm it in microwave for 1 min 30 sec - stir it an drink that before going to bed ( you can take this in morning / afternoon - anytime you like )
I am a changed person - no runnier nose - no sneezing - when weather changes (especially during spring/fall) - I have no problem with pollens. During cold months I have no runny nose. My kids used to get sick during school months - now they also daily drink milk with turmeric - they are also free from cold and fall less sick during school time. Here are few ways you can take turmeric to help yourself.
1. Take less then ¼ teaspoon of powdered turmeric pinch of black pepper in 8oz of Cup - pour milk - place it in microwave warm it - ( Warm enough so that you can drink it ) - I usually warm it 1:30 min - remove stir it - enjoy your drink an your health.
2. You can also take ¼ teaspoon of turmeric in small cup - pour honey and warm it in microwave for 5 to 10 seconds - mix it well - using spoon eat it - 1 teaspoon - 3 times a day if you have cold / cough.
Have faith and continue drinking this - it may take 3 - 6 months before you start seeing results in your health. Need more information - mail me your question I will try to answer your question when time permits This site has great information - it has helped me with ACV - Oil Pulling - I am looking into H202 now. Good Luck to one and all."

[YEA] 01/11/2007: Lorelei from Utah: "I'm so glad I read about turmeric for allergies. It seems too simple, but after trying and failing with ACV and honey, the turmeric worked miracles! Every time I stop taking it, the allergies come back. I'm allergic to our 2 dogs and cat, dust, and practically every plant out there. I was popping pills and snorting drugs daily, so the fact that this works is amazing. Two months pill free -- we'll see when spring hits! At first I was putting it in my drinks and whatever food I could, but now I fill gel capsules with turmeric, and take 2 to 5 a day (up to a tsp worth), depending on how sneezy I am. If I do it reguarly, I can get away with only 1 or 2 capsules a day. You can also buy capsules, but they seemed pretty expensive (as long as you don't mind staining your fingers yellow to make your own). Sometimes I take a little extra Vit C too, depending on how I am feeling, but it doesn't seem to matter too much for me. As a side note, if your eyes get itchy, put a wet chamomile tea bag on them. That seems to help too."

I was taking care of my daughter's two cats and dog in addition to my own cat. I have mild allergies to these animals but this many probably was an overload. I read on the internet, maybe here, that turmeric is anti allergenic and antiinflamatory. I took a teaspoonful every day in a glass of water. After three days I could breath perfectly. I will continue to take this for as long as I live. I heard on the news that this is the worst hayfever season in a long time. I'm having almost no symptoms at all."

[YEA] 07/23/2006: Betty from Wheeling, WV: "I started taking increased doses of Vitamin C a number of years ago at my doctor's recommendation for a tendency to bruise easily. One of the other unexpected benefits is that my sinuses cleared up. I used to wake up sneezing and would continue throughout the morning, sometimes through the entire day, year round. After experimenting with different dosages, I am now on a maintenance level of 2000 mg of Vitamin C daily and this keeps my allergies under control usually 50-51 weeks out of the year. Occasionally, I may have a flare-up and need something else. When that happens, I stir 1 teaspoon of ground Turmeric into an 8 oz. glass of water and drink it. Within 15 minutes, I am breathing freely once again and no more sneezing!"

VASELINE COATED INSIDE THE NOSE

[YEA] Nytrini from Austin, TX: "I HAVE BEEN HAVING SEASONAL ALLERGIES EVER SINCE DURING SPRING AND FALL. I WOULD GET RUNNY NOSE, ITCHY & WATERY AND SWOLLEN EYES. SOMETIMES I WOULD HAVE TO BLOW MY NOSE A DOZEN TIMES IN 1/2 HR AFTER I WAKES UP. AFTER RESEARCHING FOR A LONG TIME I CONCLUDED YOU MUST PEVENT THE ALLERGENS FROM EACHING YOUR BLOODSTREAM. YOU CANNOT COVER YOUR NOSE BUT I HAD ANOTHER IDEA. YOU CAN COAT THE INSIDE OF THE NOSE WITH VASELINE. I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR ABOUT A MONTH, MORNING AND NIGHT AND HAVEN'T HAD TO BLOW MY NOSE NOT MORE THAN TWICE SINCE THEN. NO ITCHY, WATERY OR SWOLLEN EYES. I WAS SURPRISED IT WORKS. IT EVEN PREVENTS SNEEZING AND THE COMMON COLD. I USED TO TAKE CLARITIN BUT HAVEN'T TAKEN ANY SINCE THEN."

[YEA] 03/21/2009: Bob from Memphis, TN replies: "I heard about using vaseline to coat the inside of your nose many years ago and have been doing this for a really long time. I have never encountered any problems from it being a petroleum product. Although, in response to the original post, it has never made my allergies any better and I always get a cold or two per year. What it does for me is it keeps my nose from getting dried out and scabby which always really drove me crazy. Since I've been doing this I have never had any more problems. If on occasion I run out of the house and forget to use the vaseline my nose really bothers me the entire day. If you live in a dry climate it would probably work wonders. I live in the south where we have a lot of humidity but it works here as well. Hope this helps someone."

VITAMIN C

[WORKED TEMPORARILY] 05/18/2009: Quartz from Los Angeles, CA: "Hello,
I have had what I think is a sinus infection or allergies for 6 days now. Overall I am doing better, but the stuffy nose that switches from one side to the other, along with the pressure is driving me crazy.
I had successfully been treating this condition with high doses of Vitamin C. I would take 1 GRAM capsules, 2 at a time every 2 hours until my stomach said "enough". With this method, all my symptoms would reduce to nothing. I would be aware of some inflamation in the sinuses, but no stuffy nose or pain or anything. But whenever I would stop taking the VitC the symptoms would come back. I am up to 20 GRAMS a day. Normally a person could only tollerate one gram to three grams a day when healthy.
So the reason I say all this is I wanted this condition to leave, not just be almost gone, so I read what others here had done and took 2 tablespoons ACV in 24oz water. I experience what others did in the way of a rapid draining of mucus. Unfortunately it was temporary and not complete. I did this a few times during the day.
I am back to taking the VitC as described above. Hopefully this will take care of it within the next few days as I have always had great sucess when I took VitC for colds in the past. I have always been able to eliminate symptoms, and reduce the time the cold hung around to just a few days - plus still go to work and do the other things I had to do. The trick is taking enough, stay away from sugar, and be faithfull in taking it every hour or two hours or what the schedule may be.
Good luck to you others that are searching for non-medical treatments."

I have many friends and coworkers here in Los Angeles who all have ongoing sinus infections. Constantly degrading air quality? More spores in the air than in years past? Who knows! What really helps me is a humidifier in my room at night. For some reason adding humidity to the air helps me recover. When I find a cure for the condition I will let you know, but I suspect it is moving out of Los Angeles!!"

[YEA] 05/29/2008: WT from Spartanburg, SC: "Vitamin C for Insect Bites and Allergies: I had a spider bite once that swelled on my forearm like a half-egg under the skin. I took 3-4G of ascorbic acid, the cheap Vitamin C from Sams club, about once every hour and a half or so. By dark the swelling was down to maybe 10%. I continued overnight and all day the next day. During that time, while in the yard working, I felt something on my arm. I looked down to see a "fireant" biting feverishly the back of my hand. I assumed there must be something wrong with him as I didn't feel any burning. Another one bit me later with the same results. I only noticed a feeling like something was crawling on me. The wounds never swelled, turned red or itched! It must have been the massive doses of C circulating in my blood.
I estimated I consumed about 40 grams of C over a 24hr period. Normally that much C will give you severe diarrhea and gas! I had neither.
I also take it for severe allergy flareups with great and quick relief, though only last for 2-4 hours, depending on the intensity of the allergen."

YERBA MATE TEA

[YEA] 08/01/2007: Kathy from Frederick, Maryland: "I have had chronic seasonal allergies all of my life. I've tried everything from weekly shots to popular prescription medications. Granted, shots work over time but were costly, painful and inconvenient.
I started drinking two cups of yerba mate tea sweetened with stevia twice a day during the spring when my allergies are near their worst. After three days, my allergies were all but gone. Prior to this, I was practically bed-ridden with swollen itchy eyes, fatigue and congestion.
I was able to decrease the dosage to just one cup a day after a month. I drink it every morning, even during the winter months. I am able to go outside and mow the lawn now without getting sick for two days! If I do get a huge dose of allergens for whatever reason, I just simply drink an extra cup and the symptoms dissipate within fifteen mins or so.
I got my sister to try and she is also pleasantly surprised. She can't even sit in grass without breaking out in hives so I can only imagine how her lungs reacte to allergens. She is 90% off of her prescription meds. She still takes one if her breathing becomes too labored from her reactions.
I highly recommend this tea to anyone who has suffered from seasonal allergies. I almost forget that it's allergy season when it comes around, that is until I see people suffering all around me and realize that I'm finally not one of them!"

I use apple cidar vinegar on a semi-regular basis. Maybe that's why I've never really had a problem with it before. I've been on vacation and hadn't used ACV for a few weeks. Today my allergies were so bad, I could not stop sneezing. I got on earthclinic ( my favorite site!) and saw the sisters that tried Yerba Mate tea. I had some in the house so I made a cup. After just drinking one cup, my eyes stopped watering and the sneezing and runny nose are gone! What a difference! I feel completely fine now. Thank you earthclinic. You are SO appreciated! "
