WHITE BUMPS ON SHOULDERS AFTER ACNE TREATMENT
01/01/2012: D from Anonymous writes: "Dear Ted, I hope this email finds you well. It's odd for me to share this problem that I have but I believe I tried anything I can think of so I guess it can't hurt sharing it:
When I was young I suffered from acne on my face which also started spreading to my back. After many different ointments and topical remedies that two dermatologist gave me, I went to see a different dermatologist which gave me some sort of pill that took the acne away (sorry for not remembering the name, I just remember my lips were cracking-dry). At the end of the acne "aftermath" my face, which was the most prone to acne has no tracing of acne however, my back has white raised bumps on the shoulders.
I went to numerous dermatologists and even cosmetic-plastic doctors and each says something different about it; they relate it to acne (without even telling them my history) some say it's hypotrophic scars some say they are keloids. I did micro-dermabration, glycolic acid and I also tried skin needeling and even started fraxel but stopped because I don't have this kind of money to do the treatment (the Dr. says he'll do a small part for small amount of money, I had to try).
The obvious question that everyone kept asking me is "why didn't you ask help when you were young?" the truth is that I did, those two doctors mentioned above and above all the acne on my back was never that severe. I had only occasional pimples. It seems that they showed after but not sure the true cause of it, I can't even say that it's acne related... I admit that it doesn't hurt but does interfere with my daily life especially mentally, I am not depressed and many said that it's nothing but the fact is that it bother me and I want to feel better with myself and this is why I am trying to "fix" it, the actual fact that I'm trying already makes me feel good, plus I have nothing to lose.
Thank you in advance for any input!"
01/11/2012: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Well, it appears as if it doesn't get out of the skin surface. SSKI works best if somehow that acne surfaces, but it is worth the try to apply that to the area at least 5 times a day. Bromelain and lipase are some remedies that have proven to be useful but after a month, in removal from early acne such as this. I used a 10% bromelain powder and taken at 1/2 teaspoon in one glass of water 3 times a day. The one thing you have to be careful is sugar, carbohydrates, and vegetable oils found in cakes, cookies, french fries, for example. One incident such as eating ice cream (large amounts) or chocolates could end up for the rest of the month with acne.Dermabrasion often makes the acne worse, as you no longer have the outer skin for protection. Zinc acetate can be applied topically and taken internally 1/16 teaspoon every other day not exceeding a month may help the infections, so is Threonine at 1/2 teaspoon 3 times a day, will help also getting rid of toxins from the skin and lysine will help protection of outer skin in getting any infections if the skin is rather thin.
The most important is getting bowel movements at least 3 times a day. This alone can create in a few cases dramatic reductions in newer acne. Taking at least gymnema sylvestre, 400 mg x 2 day will help the immune system and the fatty acid build up to reduce resulting in less acne.

ACNE ON HEAD
11/13/2006: Ayaz from Sharjah, UAE writes: "I have a serious problem of Acne on my head. It has been since 3 years now. It is very painful and I cannot use pillow, cannot make my hairs or go for hair dressing. I have been to a doctor he asked me to take ISOTANE capsules. I am looking for a more homely cure if anyone of you can suggest it please. I would highly appreciate it. Thank you."
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Ayaz: A simple acne cure, if it is acne of course, is to take 25 mg/day of zinc acetate (or zinc chloride or zinc gluconate). Do NOT take zinc sulfate, it tends to cause vomiting in many people. The other thing is to reduce your diet for eating oily foods, sweet foods, fruit juices, chocolate and fried foods.Chocolate is high in copper and tends to reduce the body's reserve of zinc. Sweet foods rid the body of both zinc and chromium. So therefore, take some chromium supplement too, such as chromium polynicotinate, nicotinate, or gluconate. I get acne every time if I eat chocolates, sweets, and sweet drinks."
04/26/2007: Cindy from Delavan, United States replies: "re: acne on the head -- It seems that the acne on your head can be helped in several ways. First, stop using shampoo on your scalp/hair. The chemicals in shampoos are industrial type cleaners not meant for heads/hair. I and many others have found this to be true. Next use a diluted raw apple cider vinegar rinse for your scalp. The acv rinse does not need to be every day. By simply not using the shampoos (which are way too strong/damaging) you should begin to heal. To cleanse scalp use a natural soap on your scalp and apply conditioner to ends. You will probably notice several benefits, i.e. reduced hair loss and return of curls if you ever had them before. Also take raw apple cider vinegar internally to reduce the fungus/yeast that may be internal."

BODY ACNE AND SKIN INFECTION IN THE HAIR FOLLICLES
12/30/2005: Anonymous writes: "I have read lots about face acne but what about body acne and skin infections such as an infection in the hair folicles. I've had this problem for ten years and still looking for a cure. Every time I wax my legs they get irritated and when the hair comes out my pores are so clogged that not all the hairs come out and I itch like crazy because of this. Please any tips?"
01/06/2006: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The fats in your body seemed to be oxidizing at a far greater speed than the body can get rid of. The best way I thin is to slow down the body's oil oxidation by taking lots of antioxidants, such as vitamin C, vitamin E and perhaps vitamin D from cod liver oil. Taking granulated powdered lecithin regularly seems to balance out the body's oil as lecithin is a fat emulsifier. The other issue might be hormonal so taking licorice extract now and then will be helpful to reduce adrenal exhaustion.
Taking raw cabbage will help reduce excess estrogens in the body if the fatty build up of the pores is due to that.
For me, fulvic acid taken regularly seems to reduce a bad case of body acne quite well too.
Everybody's biochemical make up is different. It is a matter of understanding the cause."
