[YEA] 07/09/2007: Jean from Los Angeles, CA writes: "Hooray for EarthClinic! I had a runny nose, dry, hacking cough, clearing my throat continually which caused me to lose my voice. Finally diagnosed as acid reflux and given many nose sprays and pills which helped. Did not want to be on meds so when I found your site I was thrilled. YES !!! ACV works. Just a tbsp in 1/2 glass of water before breakfast. If mucous reappears, I take 3 tmes a day before meals. No pills, no cough, no runny nose. Thank God for you and the people's voice on the Internet. P.S. Don't understand why one would take baking soda with ACV. Seems as if that would cancel out the goodness.??"

[YEA] 06/28/2007: Karen from Buena Park, California writes: "Why do you need more acid when you seem to be suffering from acid reflux? Because you are not producing enough acid to digest your food. So your system goes into overload and your body produces too much acid, hence the acid relux and indigestion. Finding the right balance to digest your food and suffer no more from the reflux is as easy as throwing away the mylanta, maalox, pepcid and others. Taking these only reduces the acid you need to digest food and the vicious cyle starts all over again... producing too much acid. ACV before or in the middle of a meal will create the needed balance or betaine hydrocholoride pills from a health food store will also work. After 2-3 days you be in pain no more, will eat what you want and you will sleep great. More people over 40 do not produce enough stomach acid. For 3 years I have been pain free because of the betaine hydrochloride or AVC if I am out of pills. They work!"

[YEA] 06/23/2007: Coleen from Buffalo, Missouri writes: "I don't usually write anything back but after taking the apple cider vinegar I felt I had to. I have had very very very bad acid reflux that has gotten worse over the yrs. to the point that it seems any food as soon as it is in my mouth I start with the burning burning burning. Belching....my husband says I do this all night long. I could not sleep flat any longer for I would just throw up in the middle of the night. Not to mention I have not had much sleep for I could NOT eat 4-5 hrs before going to bed! I had trouble swollowing, and have a constant cough, that I have been told could be cancer of the asophegus? When I heard that... I started taking the acv, that very night I slept "normal" and the next morning I had a good bm (which is another problem) Within a few days all my symptoms were gone and it has cured several other ailments as well not to mention loosing weight! I hate the stuff (taste) but you can't ignore the miracle it is. I just think more people should be talking about this simple remedy for sooo many things, what else could it do? I think the list goes on and on. ps. My ph level used to say "consult a physician" to now being normal. I have more energy too!"

[YEA] 06/19/2007: Melissa from Wilmette, IL writes: "I developed GERD after an ulcer which the doctor suspected was caused by excessive use of ibuprofen. Prilosec worked wonders at first, but gradually I developed size effects such as lower GI problems and burping. So I tried' ACV. At first it seemed to get worse, but gradually it got better and disappeared. I also made some dietary changes such as avoiding processed foods and adding high quality protein and omega 3 fatty acids. I weaned myself off the ACV and was off it for awhile, but a vacation where I consumed a lot of triggers brought it back. Seems like I can use ACV only when needed and just be careful when I'm not using it."

[YEA] 06/14/2007: Sid from Queens, NY writes: "ACV worked form me. I provides instant relief from heartburn. I had reflux for over a year. I had an endoscopy done a year and a half ago revealing a scared esophogus. I was put on the purple pill for 3 months. When I cam of the pill, wow what rebound. Eventually I read about ACV and tried it. IT DID WORK! Why are there not clinical trial being done on this? There is enough anecdotal evidence this works. I think the reason there are no clinical trials being done is that they are expensive and no one will make any money if ACV if scientifically proven to work."

[YEA] 05/22/2007: Kishor from Melbourne, Australia writes: "I'had suffered with acid reflux last year about this time. I had used all types of antacids and lastly the "purple pill". They didn't work out for me. I was searching for the remedy and came across this website. I have tried apple cider vinegar for ten days and my acid reflux symptoms were gone. But again this April, i felt like acid reflux symptoms and used ACV for around two weeks. Now i feel relieved from reflux symptoms. I would strongly recommend the use of apple cider vinegar before trying any other pills. Lately, i have been skipping meals due to work load. this could also be one of the reasons of acid reflux."

At first my taste buds had to get use to it, it does gives you an tingling feeling on your tongue and down your throat, but the results is worth it."

05/16/2007: Ted from Cleveland, Ohio writes: "My remedy is Nexium and ACV combination. I use the ACV twice each day and Nexium as I feel necessary. Without the ACV I would have to take Nexium every day or even twice per day. What I have not tried is stopping the Advil or the Aleve. Being 52 years old and very busy, I need the drug for joint pain relief but that is what is next on my agenda.... By the way, my Father died from having GERD but was a smoker, the esphogeal cancer killed him, so this is pretty high on my "radar" screen. Ted"

I bought the Apple Cider Vinegar and have been off the purple pill ever since. I started taking it 3x/day and am now down to a convient two. The cost is nill compared to my previous route and I am sure my digestive system is thanking me. I take it with water and use a straw as this is easier on the teeth. NO REFLUX!!!!"

[YEA] 05/05/2007: Caroline from San Diego, CA writes: "I obtained acid reflux after eating some really spicy food in February of 2007. Here it is May of 2007 and I still have acid reflux and wake up at least once a night. My dad had recommended the apple cider vinegar cure and I thought he was crazy. Since it is pickled, which I was told to stay away from, I was scared to try it. I tried it today and my acid reflux has stopped burning me. Please note, that I have not had releif since this acid reflux occured. As of last week, I also found out that apples make me feel better, so I am eating apples too. In regards to drinking I drink Gatorade and Water, but wish there were other things I could drink. Thanks to this website...I didn't think of "apple juice." That's great! If anyone else knows of any other beverage that is safe...please let me know."

[YEA] 04/22/2007: David from Avon, IN 46123, USA writes: "Apple cider vinager has reduced my acid reflux and the positive proof of killing all of the bacteria in my bladder came from a lab test when I thought I had a prostate infection. The doctor looked at the results and said my urine was so remarkably clean, (without any bacteria) she did not know what I had. Therefore, she sent to urology and it was discovered I had too much acid in my system. Much of it was too much coffee, orange juice and grape juice plus ACV. When cutting back on too much juice, my prostate symtoms were gone in a few days, but the proof of " no bacteria in my bladder" was reason enough to let others know the benefits of AVC. All bladders have ... cells floating around and that causes bladder and kidney infections. AVC can prevent that. DJS"

[YEA] 04/22/2007: Cindi from La Verne, California writes: "I'have had Acid Reflux for several years. I took all the prescription drugs for it. They worked for a while. My Niece told me to take apple cider vinegar. Well I tried the liquid out of the bottle and I think that was worse than the A.R.! Well a trip to the health foods store made me very happy! Apple cider vinegar tablets! They are a must! I can control my A.R. if I watch what I eat and quantity. I do take a lot of Advil for my back problem. I think I will stop that and see what happens. I am sure the apple cider vinegar helped me! I take it every day, and if I'm careful of what I eat, I don't have a problem. Try it- you have nothing to loose except Acid Reflux!"

[YEA] 04/19/2007: Debbie from Leamington, Ontario, Canada writes: "Hi, My father-in-law has been suffering from serious stomach problems for as long as I can remember. He took prescriptions that were very strong and costly. He just didn't think their was anything left to try. I suggested he try apple cider vinegar capsules according to directions on the container. A while later he is raving about how well he feels and how all of his prescriptions for various health problems are put aside. I urge people with stomach, intestinal and high blood pressure problems to try acv, they won't regret it. God bless."

[YEA] 04/15/2007: John from Fountain Hills, Arizona writes: "Seven days ago I was ready to put a gun to my head. I was continuously waking up, had difficulty breathing and swallowing. My self diagnosis search led me to this web site. I started taking two tablespoons of' ACV and a quarter teaspoon of baking soda in about 4 ounces of apple juice. It actually tasted pretty good. Some relief was almost immediate, but one week later I am thrilled to report 2 consecutive good nights sleeps of about 7 hours. This is the best I have slept in two months as the throat problems caused me to snore badly when I could get to sleep. My wife has welcomed me back from the guest room, which I am also thrilled about. I have osteoarthritis which I WAS using a combination of CELEBREX (4 OR SO A MONTH) and IBUPROPHEN(whenever I wanted)I would get up in the morning and enjoy 6 or 7 cups of coffee on an empty stomach, then eat and have 3 or 4 diet sodas during the rest of the day. BAD BAD BAD. So I stopped the coffee and sodas, started taking B complex, large doses of Vitamin c, L Glutamine and traded the coffee for herbal teas, and the sodas for juice. NO MORE IBUPROFEN Tylenol only if I need it. Bottom line: In a week I feel totally different, much much better actually. THANK GOD for this web site. I wish you luck if you have a similar situation to mine."

[YEA] 04/04/2007: Harold from Atlanta, USA writes: "I had two (2)strokes within the pass seven years. I use to take herbs but life happens and I forgot. when I start taking ACV my blood pressure has been averaging 190/185.after I started taking ACV, within three week my blood pressure has been 110/64 for the pass three months. this is without me taking all the meds the doctor had given me. I have two blood pressure kit that I use constanly, so I won't have any surprises.
I also had acid reflux , and it was so bad that I couldn't sleep no more than three or more hours at night , setting up.
Thank God for ACV. The meds that I was give, stop acid from being produce in my stomach, which kept the food from digesting which caused constipation. I took ACV. and slept like a log and have been taking it for the past few months. WHAT I TOOK MAY BE MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU BECAUSE EVERYBODY BODY IS DIFFERENT, YOU HAVE TO SEE WHAT WORKS FOR YOU, AND THEN YOU'LL HAVE THE GOOD RESULTS. IT TRULY IS THE BEST THING YET!"

[YEA] 04/03/2007: Jim from Lewistown, PA writes: "
Was tired of dealing with reflux so I tried taking ACV. Did a follow up meeting with my gastroenterologist suggesting ACV as an alternative to Prevacid. He was skeptical but told me to go ahead, but to keep some case notes. They are as follows:
March 15, 2007 Learned of ACV via friend and decided to cease Prevacid solutabs beginning Friday March 16th. Until further notes indicate otherwise, no additional Prevacid tabs were taken.
March 16, 2007 Began taking undiluted ACV at a rate of about 1/8th of a Dixie cup 3x/day. Noted acidic sensation but experienced no severe side effects. These sensations were only very very slightly uncomfortable, and lasted about 10 minutes at which time all discomfort relative GRD totally subsided.
At around the third day, I researched ACV on the Internet (Goggled apple cider vinegar to treat reflux disease) and found suggestions that undiluted ACV "might" create esophageal issues by raising the acid levels in the "tender" esophagus. So, I began cutting back on the ACV dosage and at the same time, began diluting the ACV at about 1/8 Dixie cup of ACV and the rest water. Due to my "forgetfulness" (and the horrid taste) I found I was missing some of the dosages and by the end of about 1 and ½ weeks, I was taking ACV about every other day.
At about the 2 week mark, I came down with a GI bug and had diarrhea and nausea. For about 3 days, I totally cut the ACV (and still was not taking prevacid or any other RX) and on the 4th day, I was afflicted with significant reflux. No matter how hard I tried, I could not find a comfortable sleeping position and resorted to swigging Malox at a rate of 2x/night for about 2 nights. Throughout the day, I also suffered with reflux and found that swigs of Cows milk worked well.
On the 5th day, the GI bug subsided and I felt well enough to handle the ACV again. Just prior to restarting the ACV dosage, I was dealing with a significant amount of reflux. An interesting side note here is that IMMEDIATELY after taking the diluted dose, the reflux disappeared. I continued the 3x/day of diluted ACV and became TOTALLY reflux symptom free.
Over the next several days, the minute I'd feel some minor tummy rumblings, I'd dose with ACV and would become symptom free. Another side note is that the rumblings would come about 3x/day coinciding with a time "just prior" to my ACV dose. I was also experimenting with the best time to take the ACV. The result was morning noon and night, however the morning dose would give the sensation of too much acid in my belly (What I'd describe as a burning in the tummy) I remedied that with a change in eating habits. I'd usually have only coffee in the morning with a moderate lunch. In order to curb the over acid sensation, I started to have about a half cup of cereal w/ milk chasing it with about ½ cup of cold cows milk. That would IMMEDIATELY eliminate the acidic feeling. Then at lunch, I cut from a moderate amount of food to a lighter portion followed with an afternoon dose of ACV. As well, I began to cut back on the evening meal proportion following that with ACV. The result was shedding a few pounds, a routine dosage program, and finally sleeping throughout the night. Lacking willpower one evening, I ate 5 very very spicy chicken wings and 3 mugs of beer (A previously suicidal move) and did an extra ACV dose prior to bed. The result was, for the first time, NO reflux during the night and no reflux when I awoke.
April 3, 2007 Had a routine follow-up visit with My Doctor and hinted about his feeling and knowledge of ACV as treatment for GRD. He gave a tentative go ahead for my ACV study (He scheduled a 12 month follow-up but requested that I keep him posted of my findings at a 3 and 6 month interval. To this point the TX with ACV has shown significant success in that I've NOT used prescriptions to treat breakthroughs other than the previously stated malox when I had the stomach bug. I've concluded to this point, that I must still provide my system with some assistance in managing the acid, since cessation of all prescription meds and ACV had proven unsuccessful. More notes to follow."

[YEA] 03/30/2007: Paul from Anchorage, Alaska writes: "I have been diagnosed with acid reflux for 5-6 years. Right off the bat they put me on prevacid, then switched me to nexium a year or two later. The past year I been doing pretty well on 20mg 1x/day. In January I started tapering off xanax which I have been on for 20 years. I have since been informed that xanax will cause reflux and other GI problems and coming off it can fire things up too. You have to taper off xanax very slowly BTW to reduce withdrawal symptoms. In February, about a month into my taper, my reflux started to get really fired up. So my GP upped the dose to 40mg. 2 weeks later I was still having bad reflux so contacted my gastro doctor. He upped it again, to 40 mg 2x/day. I didn't want to do it, I hate pills, but I wanted to protect my esophagus so agreed to the higher dose. The short of it is that I was still getting break through acid, mostly the feeling of acid fumes in the back of my throat. I'm a believer in modern medicine, but I also think that many times all the doctors know to do is cram more pills down a persons throat. I decided that if this big of dose wasn't going to fix the problem the next thing they would be suggesting is surgery. I also have read stories of many people, like those on this web site who have had only misery from pills that end up not working given enough time and maybe in fact the make things worse. I have read about the many folks here who have claimed that apple vinegar worked well, so I decided I had to try something or I saw my self heading down a one way, dead end road. So, skeptical I bought some organic apple vinegar, honey and some aloe vera. Last night I took my first dose and felt almost immediate relief.I laid down and went to sleep and slept all night.Nice. I took it again this morning and had a pretty good day. Tonight after dinner I was starting to feel miserable and took another dose and it helped a great deal right away. I don't expect ACV to cure my GERD in a couple of days, but I think there is some definite promise with plain old vinegar. Its interesting that my doctor tells me all the things I should avoid that can aggravate my reflux such as chocolate, my beloved red wine, coffee, etc. So I ask myself if natural things like this can fire it up, why can't natural things like vinegar and aloe vera calm it down? But you have to remember I'm trained in science and the empirical process. I'm sure no double blind studies have been done on the affects of apple vinegar for treating reflux, but with all the people here saying it works, and having positive experience myself I don't need a double blind study to convince me when my belly feels better :-)So I will continue to try and see how it goes p.s. if any of you out there are on xanax or a tricyclic antidepressant they could have something to do with your reflux, my GP even admitted that was possible. Hopefully, when I get off the stuff it will all be better. Cheers."
