[YEA] 01/02/2008: Jaci from Fremont, CA: "Guess what I just learned. Instead of trying to calm the acid in our stomachs, it is timing of production of the acid. By taking a thumbnail amount of ginger (even if you chew and spit it out) before and after your meal, or cayanne pepper, it will release the acid so it can do it's job and get out of the stomach. And for healing the esophagus take 70% slippery elm back powder and licorice powder and mix in water till a consistancy of light oatmeal. Take a tablespoon every hour. This heals the esophagus. I leaned this from a master herbalist. you can buy the combination already made by calling 1-888-372-4372 (http://www.drchristophersherbshop.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/index.html)'if you don't have access to it at your health food store. Good Luck!"

12/06/2012: Kamran from New York, Newyork replies: "I can attest to this. This worked for me. I started making tomato tea (TT) for the colds and I started taking TT last year 2011. I usually take 1-2 tablespoons daily during late fall and early spring as well as when I sense that the weather is abruptly going up and down in the winter and my body is sending early warning signals that I am getting "sniffles" that a cold is coming. The only problem I have with taking TT is that I get very bad heartburns... It feels like I am getting heart attack / pains... At that point, I immediately swallowed small mustard packets every 10 minutes or so (they are free along with ketchup, mayo, salt, pepper, etc. ) that one gets in the fast food restaurants or sandwich shops. The packets are small, do not break and easy to carry). Yesterday I took TT in the morning and late afternoon in anticipation of an oncoming cold (which did not happen). In the early evening I swallowed three packets, 15-30 minutes apart and within or less than taking the first packet my pains went down by 50%. Within 30 minutes, my heart pains totally went away... Can't live one without the other.. This worked for me.."
[YEA] 06/05/2009: Staci from Cleveland, Georgia: "I can not believe this!!! It is 6 in the morning and I have been up and down all night with acid issues. I did the right things. No eating after 7...waited 3 hours before going to bed...propped up...ate non-acid foods...but still all night. So...at 5:30 I finally gave up popping the Tums and drinking the milk(my son tells me Milk is an acid so it does not work. Drink Tea!!! he says). I decide to check out the internet...why not? Up anyways. This website is a life saver. Mustard. Who knew? Vinegar? Made no sense to me, but I figued why not? I ate my spoon full of Mustard...and can tell the difference. It is still hovering around, but now I know I have won the fight tonight. Mustard. I am a believer!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!"

Replies06/17/2010: The Doll from Lake Charles, La replies: "Okay, I thought WTH? I been suffering for days and can't get to the store to buy anything. I have tried Milk of Mag, and Tums. Although a couple of months ago I was taking Prevacid every day for about 30 days and had not problems for about a month after I stopped taking it. I decided to give vinegar a try because I had it on hand and it made it worse for me. I just tried the mustard about a minute before I started typing this email, and I pray it is not just my mind playing tricks on me, but I feel the difference... As of now, I would say IT WORKS!"
[YEA] 06/06/2012: Carla from Bellingham, Wa replies: "I just tried it this morning, 2 teaspoons mustard after many days of heart burn, nausea, etc. It has been about 15 minutes and I'm feeling relief already, I hope it will last!"
[YEA] 09/16/2007: V. Gillespie from Saint Louis, USA: "Mustard, regular prepared mustard that goes on a hotdog or sandwich quickly and completely cured intolerable acid reflux and heartburn. My husband told me to try it, so I swallowed a good tablespoon each time the reflux and heartburn came for a few days. It has been well over 6 years since and I have never had acid reflux or hearburn again. Mustard works amazingly."
[YEA] 11/18/2005: Ruth from Arlington, Texas: "Teaspoon of mustard. Hold your breath and gulp it down. Works in minutes!"

[YEA] 01/13/2007: Robert from Orlando, FL: "The intestinal problems I'm referring to are caused by too much acid reaching the intestines. I've found that some packaged juices such as grape juice, tomato juice and apple juice, contain a lot of acid and can eventually cause intestinal pain when overdone. I attribute that to the acid eating away at the lining of the GI tract and causing irritation and ulcers. The obvious thing that's called for in those cases is to cut out these beverages. However, even though I used to suffer from such GI tract irritation to where I had to cut out my favorite beverages, I found a way to get around that problem and drink all the fruit juices I wanted without any problems at all and have been doing so for many years now. What I found is that if non-alcoholic "beer" or brew (I prefer Miller or Coors) is drunk at the same time as these juices (I mix them together for a good fizzy drink) I can, and do, drink as much juice as I want without any of the normal problems I used to get. Plus I find it to be a healthy and tasty alternative to soda drinks. I don't know what it is about beer that neutralizes the effects of acid in the GI tract, but it works every time."

[YEA] 05/26/2007: Terry from Mount Vernon, Illinois: "HI, I lived in the south of France for many years. I am a massage therapist and use aroma therapy and plants. What works the best FOR ME to decrease the effects of acid reflux is 1 tablespoon of OLIVE OIL every morning and evening. There might be a little discomfort the first few times, but the results, for me, were well worth it. My old 30 day supply of pills lasts me all year now. I haven't tried the ACV remedy, but yes, the apples help me a lot too. But we are all different. I find that the Olive oil works best in my case."

[YEA] 11/23/2008: Sandy from Covington, Georgia: "I was on Nexium for over 3 yrs and after loosing my insurance I cant afford that little purple pill anymore. I had heartburn so bad I felt like Puff The Magic Dragon. I came to this website looking for any relief considering that I have been trying to go to sleep for the past 5 hours, and couldnt due to the severe heartburn. I read about OLIVES....So I ate 10 of them, WOW, in less than a minute I can breath without melting my tounge off...Thank You, Thank You, I will be eating OLIVES everyday, and I am gonna consider the mustard. Great Website. GOOD NIGHT."
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 09/05/2008: Shirl from Peoria, IL: "What I have is like acid reflux but ten times worse... Didn't have apple cider vinegar available so I tried green olives. Ate 6-10. Also took 2 baby Aspirin. Hope it isn't the start of something worse. Thanks for your ideas, they are so helpful tonight. I couldn't swallow, and it burned like fire in my throat. Think I will try the ice now. Am feeling nausea but so much better. Thank You, this site is so very helpful. Shirl"
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 07/25/2007: Dawn from East Bay Area, California: "I just read on this site that drinking some of the juice from a jar of pickles might help get rid of my acid reflux. I checked the fridge, and the closest thing I could find was a jar of Cocktail Olives (the green ones that are stuffed). I had a couple small sips of its juice. At first things felt like they were getting worse. I then had a sip of water, and in less than a minute I was feeling better. Not cured, but at least better."
[YEA] 02/06/2007: David from Annapolis, Maryland: "Great page. Thank you all. Along with ACV recipe #2, I would like to add that I have found Olives to be excellent against reflux and easier than pickle juice to swallow. They are PH neutral and some brands contain Sodium Alginate in the brine. Can anyone out there elaborate more on Sodium Alginate? From what I've read it sounds like studies are finding conclusive advantages. Along with apples and olives, other diet changes include a switch to snacking on almonds, raisins and Green tea with maple syrup."

[YEA] 10/02/2010: Wanda from Newcastle, Nsw Australia: "Zantac has been my close friend for a long time. Kept clear of most spicy stuff. Two weeks ago I had the desire for some raw onion on my avocado sandwich so, thinly sliced some (a fair bit) over the avo & cheese. I haven't had reflux since! What's that about? I've had onion (Purple) often since, and I seem to be fixed!"
