[NAY]  01/25/2012: Donna from Houston, Us: "I have been taking Cayenne for 4 to 5 months for my stomach and bp. My bp is great, my stomach is not, I eat healthy am seeing a holistic Dr. and have been taking supplements to rid me of anxiety and stomach problems, the cayenne has not healed my stomach."

05/21/2011: Kathy from Farrockaway, New York: "I am taking the cayenne pills and so far its has been ok. I take 3 pills a day after each meal. I get a slight burning in the chest for about a minute then it goes away. so maybe instead of taking 2 at a time you should break it down to twice a day."

01/23/2011: Lucy from St. John's, Antigua : "Does anyone have experience with cayenne pepper in aiding ulcers or acid reflux? Will it make worse because spicy foods aren't recommended?"

[YEA]  07/04/2007: Bruce from Lake City , Florida USA: "On the subject of acid reflux and heartburn, I have all but eliminated it after 20 or so years of suffering. I used to keep a large bottle of Tums with me at all times. The acid reflux was horrible, waking me up in bed with searing pain in my throat and gasping for air, not knowing if this would be the end. The choking went on for half an hour or more. Milk, more Tums, water, juice, nothing gave instant relief. Like magic, after about three months, I had lost almost all of the symtoms of the acid reflux and heartburn. You can cure yourself easily if you are determined. It will take perseverence and patience and will gradually go from bad to good in three months or so. Cayenne Pepper is the answer! Now on a regular basis I take from one to two heaping tablespoons of granulated cayenne with my meals. Not on any cereal though! Usually if you can start off with a litle and work up to a large dose like I did, it will become easy and things after a while will not seem to taste right without it. I am so happy I don't use Tums anymore and I don't have stomach problems. I would encourage anyone to read about "cayenne pepper healing effects." Do a Google search and you will be surprised at what you read about its healing effects. I get my cayenne from a wholesale club in bulk containers. I use Tone's ground cayenne pepper and it is about $4.00 for a 1 LB container. That should last you about six months or more. Good luck and remember, you will have to get used to the heat or it won't work. In addition to taking the cayenne pepper, don't go to sleep on a full stomach. Give it 3 or 4 hours before you go to sleep. Bruce N. Strnad"

Celery

[YEA]  01/21/2012: Ruth from Glendora, California, Usa: "EAT CELERY! It is like a miracle food for acid reflux!"

[YEA]  06/02/2009: Sammi from Flowery Branch, Ga: "I have learned a lot after reading all of your comments. This is the first time I have seen this web site and reading it mentioned in passing on Dr. Mercola's web site. My husband used to get acid reflux painfully bad, but after he gave up drinking quarts of tea a day (hey, he's a southern boy!), he very rarely gets it. He avoids bad eating, but sometimes (and it's usually some kind of fast food) he weakens and pays for it. He used to use baking soda, but found it was slow to work and sometimes didn't. Our son-in-law has BAD problems with it and found only eating celery (don't know if he knows about the other recommendations) could fix it. Hubby tried celery and has stuck with it as it works on the rare occasions now when he's affected. I can't get him to try the ACV. He thinks my son and I are crazy using it. Thanks for this site and all the fine input."

06/03/2009: michelle from Cambridge, UK replies: "Dear Sammi, I have been eating almonds with every meal, before, after, or during the meal, for the last six months, and they have completely taken my acid reflux away. I think they work because they are alkaline.( I found this advice on this site )

I took 5 per meal to start with, then dropped to 2 after the meal, but at night I tend to eat a bit more, so sometimes need none if my meal is very alkaline, ( ie. lettuce , avocado and lemon juice ) or 15-20 if I eat late and heavily ! They ALWAYS WORK !"

[YEA]  09/14/2006: Nancy from Agoura Hills, CA: "I have used H2 and PP blockers. I find that celery makes me feel better quickly. It probably increases the rate at which the stomach empties. It helps move things along, I think. I plan to try your home remedies. I'll let you know how it works."

[YEA]  12/26/2007: Janine from Brisbane, Australia: "I had acid reflux during my first pregnancy and had some relief with over the counter alkalizers. This pregnancy I didn't want to alkalize my stomach acid so I can digest effectively - but I still needed some relief. My naturopath recommended nat phos, the cell salt (also called SP or sodium phosphate) which is working very well, at least as well as antacids without the worry of poor digestive side effects or aluminium additives. Be sure to chew the tablet, or dissolve it in warm water."

[YEA]  02/20/2007: JohnnieLou from Lawton, OK: "I had suffered from severe reflux for months. Nothing seemed to help. While surfing the internet, I found some information about chamomile tea helping with reflux. I bought the green tea with chamomile and started drinking it at the first sign of reflux and always about an hour before bedtime. The chamomile tea helped immediately and I no longer have reflux. I guess Peter Rabbit's Mom knew what she was doing when she gave him chamomile tea and put him to bed after he ate too much in Mr. McGregor's garden! Regular chamomile works as well as the green tea/chamomile combination."

[YEA]  01/30/2007: Toma from Chicago, IL: "I talked to my practitioner recently, and he told me that Apple Cider Vinegar is good only for those people who have high acidity; for those who have low acidity it can be harmful. He told me the least harmful remedy for Acid Reflux and other stomach problems is CAMOMILE TEA. I tried it, and it works wonders."

[YEA]  03/02/2009: Heidi from Ogden, UT: "About acid reflux, I didn't see this cure anywhere: chewing food thoroughly before swallowing, and stopping when just barely full (not stuffed)

I used to have heartburn every night, even with drinking just water (my system is already acid, and ACV made it worse when I tried it)...well I adopted a way of eating where every bite is chewed at least 30 times...haven't had heartburn since, even when I haven't had the time to chew that slowly."

Chia Seed

[YEA]  04/20/2011: Jose from Worcester, Massachusetts: "I knew about the Chía seed to help with acid reflux through a friend. Immediatly after a reflux attack, you need to take one spoon of dry Chia seed with a little water (the chia seed expanded and will absorb the acids. ) His wife, after ten years using Proton Pump Inhibitors (prilosec, etc. ) have four months without taking these Rx and feeling good. However, the best way is to you prepare the chia in a cup or a jar with water, let grow up, and drink the jelly that is formed. Only use the dry chia seed for a reflux attack. It could dehidrated you. For all other benefits, prepare the jelly. Please check the internet for more information."

[YEA]  07/19/2008: Vicki from Ranger, Georgia: "Recently I tried Chlorella for my acid reflux. I was amazed when the pain stopped within a short time. This is truly the best remedy I have found for acid reflux. I bought the powder and take about two thirds of a teaspoon to cure acid reflux. Safe and effective."
