I have been suffering with terrible pain in my chest that I didn't associate with the acid at 1st. After my doctor did an EKG and Chest xray and they were fine, he told me it was likely just from stress. Then the reflux starting getting really bad and I realized the pain in my chest and back is from my esophogus.
Now I just started the purple pill today because my doc gave me samples to last 2 weeks. I found this site and I want to try all of the remedies at once.
I just took a tablespoon of mustard and it helped. I am occasionally burping and at least the mustard taste is better than the acid taste :)
I had a shot of ACV two days ago and it also gave me some relief. I was looking in the cupboard for baking soda and wishing I had some green apples.
I am guessing it might not be a good idea to try 4 or 5 of these remedies at the same time. If I feel better, I won't know which one really helped...or does it matter as long as I feel better. But maybe too many remedies will have a negative affect. All I want is to feel better. I think it won't be better until my sore esophogus heals. I am also taking a chug of milanta a few times a day. Thank you for all the suggestions.
I think that I have night reflux, as I get up with a coating on my tongue and a sore throat on my right side. Have tried ACV, baking soda, apples and nothing has helped so far. After eating, my stomach feels full and heavy, like its weighted down, and the feeling takes a long while to settle. Is this due to excess acidity or lack of acid for digestion? Could anyone help me? Thank you for letting me share my problem.

I had serious acid reflux and went the whole whack endoscopy, colonoscopy, etc also had gastrointestinal bleeding. Hpylori was the culprit so I was put on the antibiotic treatment and nexium for a month after wards. I got a little better then lapsed again into same condition. I discovered apple cider vinegar and was pleasantly suprised to see it worked for others for the acid reflux. I also discovered soda water, simple and effective for the reflux as well as green apples, eaten as needed when acid build up began.............use soda water or green apples.
I'm intolerant to berries, any berries fresh and even in jams, chocolate, coffee, tea etc
Now tryin hydrogen peroxide, 20 drops in half a glass of water on an empty stomach in the morning and before I slepp. It seems to work. No acid reflux. Excersise helps alot too. I run and swim. 5 minutes into running and no more acid reflux.
I'm still experimenting. Deep breathing and relaxing also help..........I feel when I am stressed I crunch my torso and disrupt the normal space of my stomach as well as tense my jaw and neck. I;m not fat, slimmish . I used to be on my feet most of the day, my problems started when my job entailed I spent alot of time sitting behind a desk and driving..............I blame the change in posture and pressure on my stomach when sitting alot. I also tend to forget to eat and only notice when the acid builds up...........am trying now to listen to my do body more and eat drink and excersise before the acid reflux symptoms.........Sometimes I win and have no problems for days , then I forget and slip back into the vicious cycle again. Anyone know if the hydrogen peoxide is dangerous long term?

Guess what I just learned. Instead of trying to calm the acid in our stomachs, it is timing of production of the acid. By taking a thumbnail amount of ginger (even if you chew and spit it out) before and after your meal, or cayenne pepper, it will release the acid so it can do it's job and get out of the stomach. And for healing the esophagus take 70% slippery elm back powder and licorice powder and mix in water till a consistency of light oatmeal. Take a tablespoon every hour. This heals the esophagus. Good Luck!
Acidic problems are rare for me; however, I did experience reflux after eating a fatty meal. I read these comments and tried teaspoon of mustard, worked like a charm!
I have chronic GERD. I woke up one night with bad acid reflux pain. I tried some plain mustard on a small piece of bread. Then washed it down with water. It fixed it!! I felt a thick mucous in the back or my throat. I think it did something to coat my throat. I slept well that night. I also carry around packets of mustard in case of flair ups. It eat it on more foods now too
Been suffering with acid reflux for several months. Doc gave me sample bottles of nexium. After reading about side effects and the consequences of it's long term use I researched natural alternatives. I chose to try mustard. Took spoonful before breakfast and symptoms disappeared fast!
I read everyone's posts and thought mustard was crazy for acid reflux. I was prescribed Pepcid but after reading the side effects I thought there has to be better alternative. That's when I came across this site and alternative. I just had 1.5 teaspoons of mustard 6 min ago and I must say it worked immediately. Mustard is not tasty but it sure has helped relieve the burning sensation in my stomach.
Thanks for the information about the mustard. I've been struggling with heartburn just about everyday. But today, I had tried drinkng water after water but it didn't help. So I read about the mustard and decided to try it and instantly the heartburn was gone. Thanks again. This site is a lifesaver.

I can not believe this!!! It is 6 in the morning and I have been up and down all night with acid issues. I did the right things. No eating after 7...waited 3 hours before going to bed...propped up...ate non-acid foods...but still all night. So...at 5:30 I finally gave up popping the Tums and drinking the milk(my son tells me Milk is an acid so it does not work. Drink Tea!!! he says). I decide to check out the internet...why not? Up anyways. This website is a life saver. Mustard. Who knew? Vinegar? Made no sense to me, but I figued why not? I ate my spoon full of Mustard...and can tell the difference. It is still hovering around, but now I know I have won the fight tonight. Mustard. I am a believer!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!

Mustard, regular prepared mustard that goes on a hotdog or sandwich quickly and completely cured intolerable acid reflux and heartburn. My husband told me to try it, so I swallowed a good tablespoon each time the reflux and heartburn came for a few days. It has been well over 6 years since and I have never had acid reflux or hearburn again. Mustard works amazingly.
Teaspoon of mustard. Hold your breath and gulp it down. Works in minutes!
