[YEA] Crazydogjack from New Castle, Pa, USA writes: "Okay. Here's my advice to acid reflux. If you take the "medication" traditionally given for reflux, what happens is that it depletes the acid in your stomach and then you don't digest your food properly. I was on medication for 11 years and decided there was a better way. There are a slew of side effects from taking those suggested meds. This is what I came up with on my search for something better to cure this problem. I was very skeptical that it would work but I thought what the heck I'll try it and it worked.

In the begininning I used a combination of orange peel extract every other day, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar and water daily and organic Aloe Vera juice as needed. After two months I became symptom free. I drink the Apple Cider Vinegar and water everyday because of the health benefits. I also keep aloe vera juice on hand and I keep the orange peel extract on hand just in case I have a flare up. I have been symptom free for over a year and I feel great! Best of luck to you! I am sure this will work for you too!"

[YEA] Lynn from Cape Town, South Africa writes: "Acid Reflux - I have put on a considerable amount of weight since I turned 40 (I am not 45). I have found it hard to lose the weight and have excrutiating acid reflux, flatulence, strong urine and constant bouts of low blood pressure. I decided that I was not well and needed to do something and researched the internet and found the Hallejah diet. However, I just wanted to detox as a starting point and wasn't completely happy with the diet as I understood from reputable sources that a vegetarian diet only is not healthy. However, the detoxing itself .. eating only veggies and fruit for at least 5 days resulted in all of my problems disappearing.. and this was because my PH balance was too acidic. So my advice is DETOX to achieve at least a 7.0 PH balance."

I had to post about this remedy that I discovered - Magnesium Chloride (in liquid form) 2 teaspoons 3 times a day completely gets rid of all my acid reflux symptoms. It's amazing! Please try the Magnesium Chloride! It works wonders!!"

Rchard North from Hanover, Pa writes: "I could use some additional information on the subject of LERD if anyone would be kind enough to respond. I have the "global sensation" thing going on in the back of my throat and can't get rid of it. The ENT says I have a benign lesion on my left aretynoid. I was operated on once to have it removed and it came back within 4 months. I have done ACV, royal jelly, raw honey, pottasium citrate, and modified my diet to remove coffee, soda, and any other acidic thing that would aggravate any condition. I have no symptoms of acid whatsoever and never have. I can eat red peppers before bedtime and sleep great. I don't do that though. I elevated the bed 6 inches also in an effort to alleviate nightime acid possibilities. The ENT seems dumb as a stone with this. He has no cause or definitive diagnosis. He has the attitude of "let's cut this out, here, take this". Maybe I will try Aloe? Maybe probiotics? Maybe betaine HCL? I don't know at this point. What I do know is I would like to avoid the scalpel again. ANY SUGGESTIONS PEOPLE? HELP ME OUT HERE. THANKS."

But, after it clears up for a while ill slip and eat something to set it off again. So, tonight, it's 3:30 in the morning and im extremely pissed at myself for having chocolate cake and coffee earlier, first time for both in a few months. haha, now im dealing with what feels like chemical burns at the base of my throat. I've never done anything about it except sip on water while standing for a few hours, yes it's honestly terrible. but ive learned to accept it as a part of life, until now, this defining and sure to be remembered moment in my life.... pickle juice. i read it about fifteen minutes ago, paced around the house for about five, and then with a trembling hand downed 1/2 a cup of vlassic's finest. and now after my stomachs settled (somewhat), i can honestly say i do believe it worked. or at least eased it considerably. finally, something. thank you."

[YEA] Jllerenas from Los Angeles, Ca writes: "If your going to use ACV, please use RAW apple cider that contains enzymes to aid in digestion. But it's not a cure, as claimed here but therapeutic. Indeed, it worked well for me, but not a cure. I also tried 3 apples a day (6months), and that too was even less therapeutic. Some people mistakenly confuse Sleep Apnea/GERD/Celiac disease/H.pylori/Ulcers because the symptoms are all very similar. Find out what you have from a doctor. To my surprise, my doctor diagnosed me with GERD, me thinking Sleep Apnea.

For what ever reason(s), doing the following has helped me: Sleep on your back with head & shoulder at slight incline -pillows are fine, eating figs(high in manganese, pectin, calcium), eating papaya, and finally cabbage, has had a 95% episode reduction for me(i hope 100%; more time to know fully -3months so far). I used to suffer every night waking up gasping for breath, and now I never do. Also, I try to have at least 1 serving of the foods I've mentioned every day. Cultured cabbage is a great way to get natural probiotics. Eat whole foods, not synthetic over the counter pills or pharmaceutical pill that introduce side effects. BTW: Lots of oatmeal and grains seem to stimulate my acid reflux, but that indicates a gluten intolerance (mild Celiac disease?). I wanted to post this since this website had helped me during my quest for natural healing.

Also I take papaya enzymes chewable after eating carbohydrates and Bromelain digestive after I eat proteins.

Also if you have type A Blood you tend to have low stomach acid production and pineapple enzymes are best and papaya is not as good. Reading the ___ ___ __ ___ __book will help you discover which foods you can digest better than others. I found this book most helpful for my digestion as well as other bodily symptoms. I use to get cold sores on my lips all the time, headaches and hemmeroids and when I ate the diet for Type A Blood all of the symptoms have gone away and not come back for 4 years now!!! This book is really right on for my friends too with different blood types.

Hope you feel better! Good luck."

I suffered from Acid reflux for nine months, tried almost everything, was on NEXIUM too, I did not have chest pain but throat pain, and ginger tea was the most spectacular discovery! Now I drink several glasses of ginger tea daily and the pain is now much much weaker. Nothing I tried before ever made so much difference.

Therefore, strongly recommend ginger.

I buy a fresh one, peel it off, cut it in small pieces and just spill hot water over it, just like I would do with any other tea.

Anyway, that worked out for me. Pain is not completely gone yet (I drink it for three days only) but life became much more bearable since I started.

Good luck to all of you!

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Stefanida Leelannee from Sussex, Nj writes: "I have had an acid reflux problem for several months. I posted a couple of months ago about my success with the water cure. I started slacking off on this because (a) it really worked, so I kept forgetting to do it; and (b) I had to take it at least 4 times per day, so sometimes that was inconvenient.

A couple of weeks ago I started taking 1 tsp of turmeric (just the powdered spice) in a small glass of water twice a day (for liver function), and without taking the water cure, my acid reflux seems to have subsided. I now just take the turmeric once a day, because taking it late in the evening seemed to be keeping me up at night.

Yesterday I didn't take the turmeric, and by evening I had severe reflux. Too late to take turmeric so I took 1/2 teaspoon of unrefined sea salt and a large glass of water, and that gave me relief almost instantly.

Although the spice is a little bitter, there is no aftertaste or repeating (burping). So it may sound unpleasant, but it's really not bad. I take a small spoonful of honey afterward, or a sip of tea.

I have read that turmeric is more effective when taken with black pepper, so I try to shake a bit into my drink. I also just read that it's much more effective when warmed up in something containing fat--like food! or even milk or coconut milk. Apparently in India it is taken as a tea with milk. You can find many recipes online."

Vicky from Manila, Philippines writes: "Hi there! For those who are suffering from Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) I also suffered for more than 5years and underwent with hi-tech laboratories and spend thousands of money, time and effort but noting seems to no avail. I was having reflux, feeling of bloated; vomiting from time to time especially when my stomach was full, back pain, chest pain, pain on shoulders and heart burning and what is worse is halitosis. Most of the doctors prescribe medicines to cure the acid reflux without even caring for other possible causes of it. I asked and consulted few doctors who examined me for another opinions but I was so disappointed that they just copied what the other doctor said. Without further explanation of possible immune deficiency or vitamins, they just prescribed antibiotics and high dosage of medicines which I eventually had skin inflammation just last year. It is the reaction of my body due to taking strong and excessive antibiotics. I FELT SO HOPELESS so I studied the reasons why I had reflux everyday.

At first I just ignored these symptoms because I thought I was just gaining weight from petite to chubby one. What I remember was I drink sterilized milk everyday and eat foods that contain milk and dairy products. I also had yogurt in my daily diet. Indeed, I am very cautious with myself so finding cure was my greatest battle. I drink and smoke frequently for years and quit for good. Here are the solutions and explanation I made for myself and hope will help you too.

1. The reason why people felt starving just an hour ago after meal is they go to bed when their stomach is full, and in the next morning they felt their stomach much empty, so much hungry that about to lose their consciousness, is the long habit of going to bed with full stomach. Another pain is they got stomach cramp. IT SHOULD BE ATLEAST 2 TO 3 HOURS before going to bed AFTER MEAL.

2. Dyspepsia is nearly the same to bloated, burping and feeling of heavy stomach that is full of air. There are many medicines over the counter to take before each meal. Another option I took was to eat plenty of vegetables which are rich in fiber to digest the food easily. Drinking water while eating will lessen the ability of the stomach to dissolve food but of course excessive acid will tend to acidity which is another story. Drink water only after meal. Another reason for dyspepsia is the slow moving of our intestines which we could get from the fried items and other dairy products.

3. The acid comes from the stomach when it goes up to the esophagus is cancerous because it damages the tissues. The only cure I have done and worked for me till now is to drink half glass of dissolve instant oatmeal without flavor with small amount of sugar; I do it everyday before taking my breakfast. I honestly cannot avoid fried chicken so I maintained eating it but the acid in my stomach had gone because of the oatmeal. Soft drinks and other juice drink can trigger the stomach cramp which is the cause of the air trap in the stomach. Also avoid sour food and unripe mango. Orange is ok.

4. Another reason for acid reflux is the inability of the stomach track to close (like anus) on the time it has to be that is why the acid spill out to the esophagus. In addition to heart burn will appear when the stomach was full with air (like the feeling of bloated), our diaphragm cannot function well especially if we lay down in bed in this condition. If you suffer from heartburn, lay on bed not leveling your whole boy, it should be in the upward position or put many pillows at the back of your head up to your chest.

Now, I was able to solve my GERD, halitosis is my big problem. I read on this site that our saliva should have maintained its PH level. I have in mind the possible cure. I'll give it a try. By the way, Hydrogen peroxide might increase the hairy tongue problem. HP really works instantly just for few minutes after rinse but not for long hours and the bad odor comes back after a while."

[YEA] Roman from Fairfax, Virginia writes: "I was so skeptical of this eating apple slices curing my GERD. With so many testimonials, I thought to myself why not try it. I have been suffering for so long with this acid reflux everytime I go to bed regardless of what I eat. I have tried over the counter remedies but did not really gave me a peaceful relief of my problem. So, without trying to figure out what kind of apple to eat, I ramdomly bought a Braeburn apple on our local grocery. I ate food that I know always cause me to have acid reflux like pizza and then drank coffee and also ate handful of sweets late at night. When I started to feel again the discomfort of acid bloating feeling on my chest, I ate just half of the apple. It did not take long to take effect and the acid reflux feeling was gone. I have tried it four times already and still getting good results. Having this cheap remedy work for me, I will surely spread this around especially to my brothers who are having the same problem. Thanks for all those who started this experiment and also those who shared their testimonies. Roman"

I increased to 2 TABLEspoons of ACV in a glass of water twice a day and it seem to be the right amount. I still experienced some minor heartburn in the late afternoon but I treated this eating an apple. Since I intruduced the apple for minor heartburn I have been free of acid reflux symptoms. From my experience, the amount and frequency of ACV needed is determined by trial and error. I feel very confident on the effectivness of ACV and I am gladd to be of the acid suppression medications."

I was recently diagnosed with bronchitis and was given anti biotics and am currently taking 150mg of ranitidine twice daily and 40 mg of omeprazole once a day which is slowly reversing the cough and excess acid and calming my system. in all of the acv cures I've encountered no one seems to differentiate between a person who produces too much acid and a person who produces too little and isn't that an important distinction? Also, can't too much acv produce its opposite effect? Most sufferers seem to produce too little acid and I believe I ended up created an internal environment that produced way too much acid and led to bronchitis. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, particularly because I would like to wean myself off the drugs I'm taking. Thanks"

[SIDE EFFECTS] Micaela from Lincoln, Nebraska writes: "I take 40 MG of pantoprazole daily for GERD; and though it helps, I am wondering if it could be contributing to gout-like symptoms? Does anyone else report similar findings? The symptoms are: itching and burning sensations at the ends of my toes and arms. Sometimes a numbness in the legs. The sensations come on in the middle of the night and wake me to the point that I cannot get back to sleep. I thought that maybe too many carbs might be causing this, but now I am wondering. I am looking at a more alkaline diet to see if that might help. What do you think, could it be the meds? Thanks."

[YEA] Shelley from Hamilton, NJ writes: "I started taking bottled Kombucha tea (not the teabag stuff) as an alternative to drinking Apple Cider Vinegar for acid reflux. The Kombucha brewing process is very similar (in fact, you can brew vinegar from it) and it has a similar concentration of acetic acids and probiotic organisms. I have found that, since I started drinking it regularly, my acid reflux has all but disappeared!

I find that I must drink at least 8 oz (1 cup) of Kombucha, twice a week, preferable on an mostly empty stomach. Depending on the severity of acid reflux, results may be noticeable immediately or within a few days."

[YEA] Adam from Anchorage, Alaska writes: "Ok, I had suffered from acid reflux and heart burn for years all due to what I was eating and drinking ie: white flour, alcohol and many other bad things. I was taking otc antacids daily and was still waking up in the middle of the night with acid coming up and out of my mouth and nose ick not fun at all,.. well I stopped eating all the white flour and cut way back on drinking but the one thing that really helped the most was my little mix of 2oz ACV 4 oz low sodium ______ [tomato juice] and 1tsp cayenne has cleared up all the acid reflux and heart burn. Just mix shake and drink it down it's actually not that bad. Just one hint make sure you inhale before you drink it down because you really don't want your first breath after drinking that to be inward."
