[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Callins from Los Angeles, Ca writes: "I want to say that the info on the site is extremely helpful. Turmeric definitely works for MRSA, as does the grapefruit seed extract, and if you have heard of curcumin, it is amazing with three capsules a day. But it wasn't until I cut the bread and sugar out of my diet that I really saw the difference. I started to add banannas to my diet thinking it would be ok(too many- 3 a day) and it gave me a breakout within 30 hours, so apparently fruit raises the sugar in the body? I would love to hear some feedback."

[YEA] Kwanger from Tampa, Fl writes: "Turmeric anti-MRSA boil remedy!

About 18 months ago, I was hit with a nasty MRSA infection which saw me with a huge boil and widespread cellulitis on my leg. This was cured with Sufa anitbiotics from the doctors....but over the course of the next 9 months or so, I had 5 more reinfections, with more antibiotics....I was hating life and paranoid of every little skin blemish.

Then I found the Turmeric "cure" on Earth Clinic....and have not looked back - fantastic! I had a few other breakouts of what could have developed into a full on MRSA boil...but by taking turmeric either in water or using low cost capsules purchased online, none of them got to the stage they were getting to previously. I now take a daily dose in the morning, and the boils appear to have gone away and stayed away - for over six months.

Thanks so much for letting me know about this!

[YEA] Bill from San Fernando, Luzon, Philippines writes: "Possible Milk of Magnesia MRSA Cure

Hi Everyone...I have reported elsewhere on this site that I had what I thought was jock itch(tinea cruris). And I had this problem for 7 years. I tried everything -- all the drugs, creams and antibiotics to get rid of it. Even using Ted's alkalizing remedies and using ACV topically wouldn't make a difference.

But this jock itch was a little strange. Bright red skin discolouration around my upper inner thigh and genital area which went right round to the rectal area of my bum. Like I say, a little strange, perhaps this was a form of MRSA?

In the end, after reading a post by Ted, I just dabbed full strength Milk of Magnesia(MoM) all over the MRSA area after my evening shower and went to bed. It didn't sting at all but was in fact quite soothing. Then I would leave it on overnight and wash it off in the morning. This was my daily protocol. The MRSA or jock itch disappeared within 2 days, healthy skin again, unbelieveable !!

The MoM has a double action effect on bacteria/fungus. First, it has a pH of 10 -- a high enough pH to kill any bacteria, virus, fungus etc. Second, MoM is hydrophyllic -- drives away water and moisture. So the offending microbe is both attacked by the high alkalinity and, at the same time, all the moisture from within the organism is simultaneously sucked out and driven away. Result: no more MRSA.

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Shelby from Newburgh, In writes: "After trying a variety of remedies, there is still a very stubborn staph infection near my right eye. I have whittled it down to two small bumps the size of bug bites with garlic, turmeric and medicated creme from the doctor's office. However, these last two marks are deep under the skin. I was reading about helping to heal my stomach cramps (from all of the medicines over the past few months) and I read licorice tea was highly beneficial for my blood type (B) and so I went searching for licorice tea and found it to be extremely good. Up at school I needed to reapply the turmeric to my eye because it was beginning to itch and burn, but I didn't have any water, only the licorice tea. Not caring at this point, I slathered it on the staph infection and instantly it was cooled and began to ease. Ever since I have been cleaning the staph with the tea instead of water and the marks have scabbed over and are clearly healing. This tea is not pure licorice, so it may not be the licorice that is helping it. In the tea there is licorice root, cinnamon bark, orange peel, ginger root, cardamom seed, black pepper and clove bud. I don't know which one of these is helping, but I am very thankful it is! I found the tea in an organic herbal shop since the general grocery store didn't carry any licorice at all.

A friend of mine and I both have frequent mrsa breakouts and antibiotics is only a temporary fix for us. The honey is a bit expensive but it only takes a small amount of honey. You apply it like an ointment and it lasts a very long time. The higher the UMF the better. Again, do yourself a favor if you have mrsa, and try this. I gaurantee you will notice a significant change within 12 hours!"

I have been fighting recurring MRSA infections (boils) for over 18 months now...I tried Allicin, Colloidal Silver, Turmeric, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Oregano Oil, Oive Leaf Extract, Rife Machines, MMS...you name it, I have probably tried it. Last week, I started to get another boil- it was spreading and I started a fever of 100.5...I had nothing to lose and so I crushed 2-3 garlic cloves in my garlic press, let it sit for 14 minutes, mixed the garlic then THOROUGHLY with honey and gulped it down in one swallow. Make sure NOT to do this on an empty stomach!!!! Within 4 hours, my fever broke and the redness started to retreat. After all the other things I tried and all the frustrating months, amazing that the raw garlic took care of it! I proceeded to do the garlic 2x a day for 10 days and and am now going to take it 1x a day for the next two weeks to make sure it has killed all the MRSA staph. I am also drinking Phenomenal Water. I hope this helps many people. I also want to note that I used organic garlic and raw honey.

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Mom In Calif from Santa Barbara, Ca writes: "A combination of remedies has really helped our whole family, both supplements and topical treatments. Many of these are already listed at this website. The supplements we have been taking include daily doses of turmeric, garlic, and extra vitamin C. Our topical treatments have been colloidal silver, silver hydrosol gel, silver gel in a petroleum base and oil of oregano.

These remedies did not make the outbreaks less frequent, but as our immune systems recovered from antibiotic therapy the outbreaks themselves became smaller and smaller, more like ordinary pimples than big boils. For about two months, we have been taking supplements and treating all MRSA skin outbreaks in the family with topical treatments only.

Then one day almost by accident we discovered that homeopathic ointment for hives and insect bites helped reduce the discomfort of a developing outbreak and also seemed to make our other topical treatments work much faster. In some cases, the antihistamine treatment actually stopped the development of an outbreak. (Probably commercial products such as Benadryl or Calamine lotion will work, too). It seems as though reducing the inflammation aspect of a MRSA outbreak allows the immune system to work better.

Our final breakthrough has been the addition of really high quality probiotics to our supplements. The immune system relies on good bacteria for optimal functioning, and although our regimen above was working, it felt as though we needed one last boost to our health.

There are hundreds of brands of probiotics to choose from, so do your research as thoroughly as you can. We checked product reviews, and also forums for other ailments such as Crohn's disease or IBD. If you read carefully, you will find that there are a small number of brands that seem to get consistently great reviews by people across the spectrum. We chose one that specifically mentioned MRSA in its literature, as well as getting many positive reviews.

It seems to have been the last puzzle piece for our recovery. Each family member has seen a small potential outbreak begin and fade away all in the same day. That is real progress, the sign that our immune systems are doing what they are supposed to. We are still very diligent in our cleaning and prevention routines, but it is nice to feel more confident in our bodies' ability to recover.

We hope this is helpful to other MRSA victims.

[YEA] Shelby from Newburgh, In writes: "I have had a staph infection for the last month - my first ever. It was misdiagnosed until just a few weeks ago when I was finally given topical antibiotics. It seemed to have worked - the rash became a solid pimple like boil which then washed off in the shower. It left a mess though, the redness increased and there were many many bumps everywhere (this entire situation is occuring just next to my right eye) and seemed to be spreading. I put manuka honey on it, which relieved the heat issue, but I knew I had to get it off my face, in case it spread to my eye and caused serious issues. So back to the doctor I went. She gave me internal antibiotics and told me to quit eating Vitamin C, garlic, and the manuka honey and instead take a 500mg antibiotic 4x a day for 10 days. I took 2 the first day and got such a horrendous headache I couldn't see straight and all the aches and pains associated with this staph infection flared up. I took 2 antibiotics the next day but I felt so terrible on them I quit them. My legs were killing me again and I couldn't walk very well.

So I threw out the antibiotics and went back to my mega doses of vitamin C, garlic, manuka honey, and now - after reading this wonderful website - turmeric. I have been taking the 500mg of turmeric suppliments 2x a day and cooking with it for the last 3 days. I also began putting the tumeric on the skin infection by my eye because it was burning so badly. Mixing it with grape seed oil (what I found in the kitchen) has created the cure I needed! 3 days - 3 must be the magic number - and it is vastly improved. The boil doesn't itch, burn or bother me too much. The first night I didn't figure out the oil part, so it was a little dry and painful (much like the tea tree oil I had on before) but once the oil was mixed with it, the boil soaked it up. The second day the boil was very wet, and the change was beginning to bother me, was it getting bigger? Would I have a terrible scare or hole there? I jumped into the shower and washed everything off - getting out and expecting the worst. Lo and behold, the boil actually was smaller! I stayed awake last night, alternating heated rags to wash off the turmeric, then to reapply, and in the morning there was only a small opening, where before it had reached from under my eye to my eyebrow. Amazing! Tonight I will continue to clean it off and reapply whenever it starts to burn or itch again - hopefully by tomorrow it will be sealed with only the rash remaining.

Thank you so much for all of the information on here! It's amazing...$2.65 for a huge bag of turmeric spice...$8.00 for the suppliments - it should be a crime doctors do not tell people about natural remedies. Sometimes I think we have everything upside down and backwards when it comes to knowing all there is to know about medicine.

My daughter was graduating from college on Saturday (I am 52) and on the Thursday before, I had two boils and the beginnings of a third. Sobbing, I was on the internet, once again, and I stumbled on this website. I use turmeric often in cooking and I know that it has anti-inflammatory properties.

I took a tsp with some coconut oil and water at 8pm, applied a poultice of baking soda and turmeric and went to bed. When I woke, the pain had gone from a constant 7 to maybe a 3 but the real surprise was how they had shrunk in size just overnight. Stunned, is all I can say. I followed up with three doses of a tsp with milk or oil and applied poultices again the second night. WOW. Wow. Wow. I pray this continues to work, I am amazed and eternally grateful. THANKS SO MUCH!

[YEA] Boris from Vancouver, Bc, Canada writes: "I'll add another "yea" to the growing pile of positive feedbacks for turmeric treating staph.

Ailment: I have been suffering with chronic folliculitis (s.aureus was cultured) in my beard area. Usually 5-10 active boils are present at any one time, varying in size from a single hair follicule to deep, 2cm diameter nodules.

Prior Treatments: I have tried just about everything under the sun for this: antibiotics for three months; prescription antibiotic cream; medicated shampoos; chlorhexidine washing; tea tree oil; witch hazel; apple cider vinegar rinses; not shaving (I grew a beard three years ago when this started). All were ineffective. I seem to get reinfected over and over again, even though I take care to use clean towels, pillowcases, etc.

Turmeric: Now this is more like it. The turmeric really works. The effect was not immediate, like so many report, although it was quick. I started taking full-spectrum highly concentrated turmeric capsules (400mg, 3X per day) and it took about three days to notice the healing. At first the inflammation calmed down, and those nasty boils began to retreat. I've been on it for four days without any new outbreaks and the last of pre-turmeric boils fading away. No other treatment (doctor- or self-prescribed) has been nearly as effective.

Kudos to Earth Clinic and all those Earth Clinicians out there for pointing me in the right direction!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Dhildreth from Berkeley, Ca, United States writes: "MRSA and Tumeric

When i was first diagnosed with MRSA, i was beyond dismayed. As my symptoms became more intense and frequent i was horrified and disgusted with my own body and felt that i could confide in no one, not even my doctor. i was initially misdiagnosed, completed rounds of antibiotics that did had no affect (which did not seem to be a read flag to my doctor), and i went through a bureaucratic nightmare for nearly half a year before demanding to be referred to an infectious disease specialist who told me that all of the MRSA remedies i read on earth clinic were B.S.

i had just finished a round of septra for a particularly difficult boil when i started taking turmeric, about 2 tsps in water 3 times daily. the effect turmeric has had on my skin is unbelievable. i never could have foreseen such a dramatic recovery. although there is no cure for MRSA, i have been able to live boil free for nearly a three months by maintaining this regiment.

i have also committed to a vegetarian diet with dramatically less sugar and flour which cause an acidic imbalance that fuels MRSA.

on a personal note, earthclinic gave me a sense of community when i was most despondent. it gave me hope, encouragement and a remedy that has provided me with a new lease on life. i only wish i had discovered this site earlier, but feel so blessed to have come across it.

for everyone dealing with MRSA, i just want to say that you are not alone, you are loved and you can and will get through this. i care and many others do as well.

When I recently got married I continued drinking my homemade kefir every day BUT I forgot to use turmeric in the kefir. After two months, I got a bad outbreak of MRSA on the back of one leg and on the top of one hand. (I first contracted MRSA about 3 years ago). I began using turmeric again (I had plenty on hand) and in one day I could see the redness starting to disappear. Now the areas are mostly healed. Kefir does a fine job holding down my MRSA symptoms, but I need turmeric added in small amounts to each cup of kefir I drink. I always sip kefir all day. Today in fact, I ordered more fresh kefir grains from eBay because after 3 years of using the original grains purchased back then, they were finally weakening. I hope my information helps other people who either have MRSA boils or other types. A main way to combat MRSA is NOT to eat anything containing HEME iron (meat, fish, poultry). I believe that I got these outbreaks recently because I was omitting turmeric. Now I have my MRSA symptoms back under control. Finally I got on the net and looked up natural remedys. I tried honey in place of antibiotic topical ointments and immediately my sores improved over night. I put a 1/4 -1/2 tsp of honey on a 4x4 bandage after I showered and dried my skin well, then left it undisturbed for 24 hours and repeated until the sores were gone. It's been yrs since I've had an out break. When I did get an occassional sore, I'd wrap it up in honey just to be safe. I've read they are using honey in some burn units because it helps decrease scaring as well as being a good antibiotic.

Also wash cloth belts and sanitize pocket wallets. I swear this bug is able to survive in material for a few days! Daily sups of tumeric and silver has almost stopped the outbreaks completely. When I do find a sore bump I hit it head on with deluted hibicleanse (50% water in a seperate bottle). Im now down to 1 small boil every couple of months!"

[YEA] Susan from Emerald Coast, Florida Usa writes: "turmeric and boils

I became very run down due to great stress in my life and one morning woke up to a huge knot on my face. I never had a boil before so I did some research to figure out what it was and how to cure it. I came across this site and found the turmeric cure. I was aggressive with the treatment using warm compresses soaked in turmeric and salt all day and also applying a paste made of turmeric powder and salt directly to the boil. I also used a 1/4 cup of 1/2 & 1/2 warmed up with a teaspoon of turmeric and a touch of hot chocolate for flavor several times a day. After one day, the thing began to drain a foul smelling puss, totally gross. I did a little more research and found it was probably MRSA. I know how bad MRSA can get and I was worried that my face might become disfigured from it. Day two the boil kept draining and I kept up the hot packs and paste religiously. It's now day 8 and the boils is almost completely gone. It's truly amazing. If you have a boil, always be very careful about not spreading it by washing your hands vigorously every time you go near the boil. Use sterile technique when dressing it,always cover a MRSA wound so you don't spread it(It's highly contagious) and use gloves if you can. Wash any clothes or sheets every day that come in contact with it. I used disposable pads on my pillow at night. I actually feel better than I have for a very long time with energy and ambition. I am so thankful to have found this site. and I'm totally sold on turmeric!

For 2 days I took 2 droperfulls per day (180 lb male ) than went to 1 droperfull per day for 2 weeks. This stuff is very (medicine was not created to taste good ! )chase it like a shot. I put oil of oregano, and a big square Bandaid on the boil the first night and it burned like hell .The next morning put a hot washcloth on it( brings it to a head) and it opened and drained. put the oil and bandaid on it for about 5 days. Incredible healing. I still continue one half dropper oil daily and pray to God it does not come back. I have tried EVERYTHING a few of them are listed on this sight.Turmeric did not do much for me and irritated my digestive tract. Some seemed to help, but gave limited results. This worked better than anything (including some very expensive antibiotics) Get the oil online for less Please try this, I posted this because I want to help people, and I hope this will work for others"

Is there a link between MRSA and Lupus?"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Kimmy28 from Jones, Al writes: "I got a horrible boil on my buttock about two months ago and it was the most painful thing ever! so I thought it would go away and it did not instead it got larger and larger till it was as big as a golf ball and then larger than that the next day. So I waited but finally went to the ER and they told me it was staph and gave me vankamycin because my fever was 103.5 and I was septic by this time and they sent me home! so I got worse overnight and went to the ER then next day at another hospital and so they did surgery on it and drained it and cut deep into it. Gave me more antibiotics and sent me home and it finally started to heal but I have a horrendous scar like a bullet wound. So I thought I was done with that but exactly three weeks later when I began my period, surprise another one on my leg, in the muscle! So I went straight and had it lanced, another lovely scar! it would not heal for weeks until I found this site and ordered myself some Turmeric capsules and powder, then I started taking the capsules and put turmeric powder just one teaspoon boiled down in water on the wound and bandaging it each night. In the meantime I washed down everything in the house in scalding water, all my clothes, wiped down mattresses with antibacterial, then put the bactriban antibiotic stuff in my nose everyday for 8 days and also I was on antibiotics and then just to be safe I went to an Infectious Disease doctor who probed the wound and made it bleed and caused me great agony!

but he gave me so much information about this staph condition that I am so thankful to have seen him, however the cure for me has been THIS WEBSITE! Turmeric not only is helping with my staph it is making me feel better overall, not sure why but I can only speak for myself, so then I found another website that said turmeric is a mood enhancer and works for some people who are depressed so that must be it. I feel great!

now I have gotten two other boils after the leg boil healed with turmeric and as soon as they come up I put turmeric on them and they burst and heal. SO it worked 100% for me with some added benefits being my mood is much much better and I feel good.

Thanks
Many Blessings to you all!

After, 7 days-I got 3 skin eruptions on my inner thigh and starting feeling sick. After seeing a doctor-he wanted to put me on a string of antibiotics. Antiobiotics usualy leaves me with a yeast infection or thrush. After having such bad experiences with antibiotics, I went and got oil of Oregano for about 20.00 I used 4 drops in water and 1 drop under my tongue, Within 2 hours-my energy came back and I started to feel better. After 5 days-I can no longer tell that there was anything wrong with me, in the first place. I used oil of Oregano before when eating out because most restaurants are very dirty and full of workers that carry bacteria, so it has always worked for food poisioning but it also worked for staph and the boils that appear as a sympton of this infection."

CORNSTARCH BODY POWDERS

[WARNING!] Helen from Clearfield, PA writes: "People who are susceptable to MRSA and boils shouldn't use cornstarch-based body powders. Why: because cornstarch is a perfect growth medium for staph, and it is my contention that the use of cornstarch-based body powders has been a contributing factor is the rise of staph infections in general. But the more staph infections there are, the more likely one is to eventually get a resistant form, and who wants to play those odds?

p.s. Staph can cause boils without neccessarily being antibiotic resistant."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Sara C. from Park City, IL writes: "I went into a serious case of SAD last winter, didn't eat properly, and compromised by relatively healthy immune system. The 1st of January, got a nasty scrape on my left leg that was abut six inches long and really back. I washed it with hydrogen peroxide and let it dry, then went on about my business. Big mistake. The next day in the shower, I found a red, sore bump that looked like an ingrown hair, but couldn't pull that out. Two days later, the scrape got infected. I put an OTC polymycin salve on it, found that it didn't work and that I was allergic to polymycin. The infection spread, became extremely painful, and by Feb. 1 I was begging to panic, because it should have just dried up and healed. I figured out that I had a staph infection that was getting out of control, in spite of my efforts, and then read about a low hemoglobin count as something that will give you susceptibility to rashes in a medical column, so I started taking iron pills and the infection seemed to stop, but would not clear up. It was so painful that if I took off the bandages, it felt like my skin was on fire because every nerve ending was exposed to air. I spent thirty seconds in the shower one day, crying in pain. I was desperate to find a remedy. I knew it was staph, I looked up the symptoms and images of staph on the internet. I mean, you know these things, and I am frankly unwilling to go to an emergency room these days unless I have a broken bone. I found an antiseptic salve that is specifical directed at MRSA and other varieties of staphylococcus, but I was getting desperate, because I was not getting rid of the toxins in the scrape on my leg and it hurt all the time.

I went to bed that night, asking myself "What do I need to know to get rid of this infection? What am I forgetting?" The next morning, when I woke up, the first thing that popped into my head was "what are the medicinal uses of honey?" I looked up apitheray on the internet and there, right in front of me, was an entire page of the uses of honey, from the Egyptians using it in mummification, along with natrol, to Roman physicians using it to prevent wounds from becoming infected. I had a bottle of raw honey bought from an apiary last summer. The pollen grains looked like dust. I had bought it to work on my seasonal allergies in the spring, but decided to try it on my nasty, horrible wound, which was really worrying me. My whole body was trying to throw off this infection without a lot of help from me, so what did I have to lose?

I took a sterile wound dressing pad, put a tablespoon of raw honey on it, spread it around to cover the lesion, and plopped it, plus two others on the open areas. I did this daily for two days and took a hard look at what was taking place. The solid matter in an infection, which we call pus, is the dead bacteria and dead white cells that are killing them. The excruciating pain, the swelling and the spread of the infection stopped, but it took three months to get my skin to regenerate by granulation, which is healing from within, and close up the lesions. The last one closed up last week and has a healthy scab on it now, which I do not touch. I used the raw honey for a month and went to a great deal of trouble to keep the whole thing as clean as possible, but getting into the shower was very painful for a while. I knew I had won the battle when that no longer hurt. the sugar in honey is so concentrated that it draws water and the toxins in a wound to the surface, and the enzymes in raw honey will digest bacateria, help your white blood cells do their job.

However, staph is one mean little bacterium and won't give up. I have a set of eczematous lesions where it tried to start up again, and used the OTC staph antiseptic, alternating that with antiseptic washes and sprays. Then I heard a dermatologist reoommend a quarter of a cup of laundry bleach (sodium hypochlorite) in a tub of bath water, so I have used about one quarter teaspoonful in two gallons of water, twice in the last two weeks, to wash the skin on my leg, and it seems to be working. I also use peroxide. Just keep shifting the attack weaspons. Some of the eczema started because the paper tape I used took the top layer of skin off those spots and left it vulnerable. I've had bumps appear in my scalp that went away, tiny bubbles appear on my hands that leak clear fluid when they are punctured with a sterile needle. This thing will probably not admit defeat until I sit in a tub full of oatmeal bath additive or milk of magnesia, which is supposed to be healing. My skin has become rather dry, so I need a good, soothing bath salt. Are epsom salts OK for this?

I have noticed in all this that staph will get into anything: your hair follicles (kills the growing hair), your oil glands (dries out your skin), your mouth (blisters your palate), your clothing (use the laundry bleach, you can always buy more clothing). I continue to take the iron pill and upped the amount of lean beef I eat, as well as a multi-B vitamin and Ca/Mg/Zinc and A, D, and Natural E that I have been taking for years. This is seven months after the start of this, and the skin on my left leg looks like the worst sunburn in the world, but is slowly growing back with no scars. The hair follicles are recovering.

I forgot to credit my cat Lilly in this. Every night when I went to bed, I would visualize my Lilly chasing those little fuzzy staph bacteria and swatting them into ruins. I had a dream one night in which she chased them screaming down a long hallway into a huge pool of water. I believe it will take several more months for this to end, but I've learned my lesson the hard way: eat properly, get some exercise, take your vitamins and enjoy life. It's all we have.
