I have been diagnosed with Mrsa the problem I have is that I am allergic to any antibiotic that will fight against it. At this time I am able to keep them under control with bactroban ointment, but because of the scarring I would like to be rid if it for good. I could go to an infectious disease doctor and have an i v in me for about 6 weeks and administer antibiotics to myself that haven't been tried on me yet. I feel that is the last resort though.

Date the First Boil Appeared: 5/15/07 I have never had a boil in my life until yesterday. It was so painful and large near my groin area on my upper inner thigh. I thought perhaps it was due to shaving and the hair follicle got infected.

I suffered for 3 days and decided I could take no more. So I sterilized a razor and tool a mirror and cut it. It smelled horrible and really hurt. I then ran a hot bath and poured 1/2 coup of clorox in it. I sat in it for about 20 mins. boil is GONE! I'm free!

Went to a surgeon and he has to slice in about 1 1/2" to remove puss and fibrous material from cyst. Packed it and now am on 3rd type of antibiotic. Was your immune system weakened prior to the staph infection? That is, were you fighting a viral or bacterial infection? It may have been weakened from losing 15 pounds by eating less. Also there was added stress in my life due to work and other events.

Any additional comments about your condition? Also, are we missing an important question on this questionnaire? I am now on a second drug. The doctor had a hard time lancing the boil since a portion of it had hardened? Also there are a few more now developing in the same armpit and they are very painful. I am researching the best way to protect my family from this.

Also, are we missing an important question on this questionnaire? i started turmeric yesterday. the pain is worse today. i'm hoping because its working, but no visible signs after 1.5 days. I'm taking capsules and am wondering if i'm not taking enough. after a couple of days it is the size of a quarter!

Did you injure or cut yourself outside before the boil appeared? Or, did the boil appear in an area that had previously been cut or injured? Not aside from the usual paper cuts I get at work every now and then.

Any additional comments about your condition? Also, are we missing an important question on this questionnaire? I seem to have chronic sinusitis. Nose is always stuffed up. Head feels cotton-like, and on the verge of having a cold. Just feel run down, but never come down with anything serious.

Date the First Boil Appeared: December 2005, but I am really guessing at this. I've been getting them for over a year.

Was it raining or snowing a day or two before the first boil appeared? If yes, exactly how many days? I have no idea. I live in Michigan, and we have lots of weird weather.

What was your diet the days leading up to your first boil? Were you eating differently than normal? My diet is admittedly not so good. I'm overweight, too much fast food/junk food.

Did you injure or cut yourself outside before the boil appeared? Or, did the boil appear in an area that had previously been cut or injured? I get them all over my inner thighs, occasionally on my lower stomach and shins. It always gets worse after shaving. I skip shaving my upper legs as much as possible, but must do it eventually. I think the shaving causes small cuts, especially if not a fresh blade.

Was your immune system weakened prior to the staph infection? That is, were you fighting a viral or bacterial infection? I don't think my immune system is the greatest. But can't think of anything specific.

Any additional comments about your condition? Also, are we missing an important question on this questionnaire? I would give anything to make these go away. Mine are mostly small pimples, and I always have several on my thighs. I've gotten 2 that were about half dollar size and were terribly painful until I lanced them. Then I just kept them clean, and they healed up in a couple weeks. I've never asked my doctor about this. I had no idea it was anything but ingrown hairs. I currently have about 6-8 on both legs and they hurt! I pick at them, and have made dozens of scars on my legs. It looks terrible. I'm embarrassed for my husband to see. I guess I'll try the turmeric, and ask my doctor about this too.
